My most re-purchased Ordinary products

Glossy.glossary
Okay so, I have tried 21 products from The Ordinary so far over three-ish years. It might not seem like too many, but man to my skin it feels like a lot of trial and error. But I wanted to go back and narrow down my collection to my most repurchased Ordinary products. These are the ones that work best for my combo / acne prone skin and keep me coming back for more! And of course, as you know, they are all very affordable. The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution
I absolutely love this toner / chemical exfoliator. I use it 1 time a week during my evening routine and wouldn’t use it more than that because it can be a bit sensitizing. But every time I use this toner, the next morning my texture and pores are visibly reduced and my skin looks smooth and glow-y. You get quite a good amount of product and it typically lasts me at least 4 months. The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque
I like this mask a lot! It’s great for taking on oil skin or the occasional pimple. The salicylic acid and charcoal make this feel very cleansing and satisfying. I do prefer this to the salicylic acid serum because I have found that to be a bit too drying if I leave it on the skin. I mentioned in another review that this product didn’t help me get rid of all my acne, but it definitely helped. I use this once every 1-2 weeks or whenever my skin needs a little detox. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5
I love this serum in the winter. I don’t often get dry spots, but if I see that my skin if feeling a little dry in any area, I’ll just pat a bit of this on under my moisturizer and then I’m good to go. Sometimes I use this on my legs if they are especially dry. I also really like how the ordinary has started to sell bigger bottles of some key products. As a consistent user, I like the bigger bottle because it leads to less waste. The Ordinary - ''Buffet''
I’m a big fan of Buffet. I use this probably 2x a week, or sometimes more if I want to give my skin a break from actives and just want to make my skin feel extra plump. The formula is very hydrating and although I have my doubts about products that claim anti-wrinkle benefits, I do think my skin looks smoother after using it. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
This is kind of a cheat... because I repurchased this is after my first one fell and smashed on the bathroom floor. 🙃 BUT I am happy I repurchased it because when I do use this my skin looks so so good the next morning. Particularly my skin tone and pores look much better the next day. I use this probably more like 1x every two weeks because I swear no matter how little product I apply it does sting a little. And that’s probably not good... but I’ll justify it with glowy skin. And shout out to my trusty The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
that is also amazing but missing from the pic! 🥰

Will you sashay or will you stay? 😔🤚🏼
I thought I'd give some thoughts on skin care products I have tried in 2020. I will talk about more products in future posts, but let's start with this. What I loved ❤ NEOGENLAB - Sur.Medic Azulene Soothing Pepthide Ampoule After my skin got randomly sensitive (currently being screened for lupus), a lot of products I already had in my routine just didn't work for me anymore and would make my skin angry. I needed to repair my skin barrier and use different products from what I used to use for my then acne-prone skin that could take a lot. This product was key in calming my skin and repairing my moisture barrier. This contains 10 peptides, Azulene blue capsule and ceramide capsules. Holy grail! The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' I heard somewhere that for peptides to be effective, you have to use them AM & PM. I use this in my bedtime routine to maintain the effects of the NEOGENLAB ampoule mentioned above. It's cheap and the packaging is glass. Very easy to incorporate this in your routine when taking a break from retinol that can be irritating. NEOGENLAB - Real Rerment Micro Essence I use this after double cleansing at night and it's so good. My skin just drinks it up and it doesn't leave any tackiness. It's super gentle and will give you a boost of hydration after your cleansing step. Been using this every day since this summer and I'm not even halfway done with the bottle. COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence My skin has gone through changes this year, but this is one of the products that remained in my routine. I use this in the morning before my serums and it makes my skin looks so great! It's kind of gooey at first, but turn to a watery texture pretty quickly. It's actually impressive how this just sinks into your skin. It helps with my acne scars and post-inflammation hyperpigmentation. One pump is enough for my whole face! BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Marine Algae Eye Cream Many claim that eye creams are not necessary and I believe them. I personally like to use one because I set my concealer with powder and it can be a little drying. This is lightweight and is a good base before eye makeup. Helped with my fine lines and the packaging is glass. 4 stars cause it's not a necessity. Products I disliked 💔 Perricone MD - Hypoallergenic Firming Eye Cream This eye cream is so heavy and oily it gave me a few milias. Total rip off for the price and it contains palm oil. DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum I incorporated more niacinamide in ny routine and stopped using acids more than twice a week, so this is not a necessity unless you have 100$ laying around. Can be irritating. Kiehl's - Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer It worked good when I used to be on antibiotics for cystic acne, but now my skin doesn't absorb it, makes me greasy and breaks me out cause it's clogging. I recommend only if you have dry and flaky skin.

Skin Journey/ Help me with my Pigmentation ?!
If you’ve read my previous post, you would know that I’ve always had cystic acne growing up. Now, I tend to only get acne with stress/ hormones - but having to wear a mask this pandemic has definitely taken a toll on my skin. The first picture on the left was taken in September 15th! The second photo was taken today. One piece of advice I can give everyone is DON’T USE DRUG STORE PRODUCTS. Even though they are a great price point they were so damaging in my skin. Do a lot of research before putting something in your face because it will save your skin in the long run! Everyone’s skin is different but here are the products/ treatments I’ve used to help my skin. I hope this helps! : Morpheus8 (1:45 hours) Alumier Purifying Cleanser Alumier Enzyme Peel Alumier Rentol .05 Alumier Ultra Rich Moisturizer (Night) Skin Better Hydrating Boosting Cream (Day) The Ordinary AHA/ BHA Peel I really need help with the redness/ hyperpigmentation so if anyone has any products that may help, please let me know! HELP I’ve tried everything!
I’ve been trying to take extra care of my skin for the past 4 months but nothing seems to be working. Morning routine: CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin CeraVe - Mineral Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 for Face with Zinc Oxide Night routine: THE FACE SHOP - Rice Water Bright, Light Cleansing Oil CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe - SA Lotion For Rough & Bumpy Skin pura d'or - 100% Rosehip Seed Oil Every few nights, I alternate between Paula’s Choice 2% BHA exfoliant and the CeraVe Resurfacing Retinol in place of The Ordinary Niacinamide. In addition to this routine, I wash my pillow case every week, eat relatively healthy, and don’t wear any makeup. I also use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solutiononce a week for 10 minutes. I have acne-prone combination skin. My struggles are acne scars and bumps/texture on my cheeks. I’d especially like to know how to get rid of the bumps and what’s causing them. I also recently abstained from my actives for 2 weeks in hopes of my skin clearing up but that obviously didn’t work. I’ve been using my CeraVe products for almost 2 years. My skin only started breaking out more once I incorporated more products little by little. I don’t think this is considered purging because this has been going on for 3 months. I also don’t think this is maskne because I rarely leave my house. PLS HELP! I feel like I’ve done all I can. I can’t even see a dermatologist because I don’t have insurance. #help #helpmyskin

Game to determine what acids you should use!
I have been getting some comments asking what kind of acids you should use based on your skin type and I have been trying to do my best to help you guys out but I just saw this great post by @beautycasion_by_shurti which will really help anyone who has questions about this out, please go check that out. Products I recommend based on this chart: If you have dry skin and have acne: The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Solution Or The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque With The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution If you have dry skin and no acne: The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution If you have sensitive skin and acne: The Ordinary - Mandelic Acid 10% + HA OrThe Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA With The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Solution Or The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque If you have sensitive skin and no acne: The Ordinary - Mandelic Acid 10% + HA Or The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HA If you have oily skin and acne: The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Solution Or The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque With The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution If you have oily skin and no acne: The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque Or The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Solution If you have conbination or normal skin than you should use and acid of the skin type you are closed to, all of these products will work for you. If you find your self really struggling from acne then you can also add The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%

Skin journey week 1
Before using OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream vs 1 day after using it. This product will dry out your skin so make sure you apply at night and use a moisturizer after 30 mins of application. The reason i said 30 mins is because i want the product to fully get adjusted to my skin before applying other products. If you apply during the day please apply sunscreen after. During the first week, my skin will start peeling and pimples will start to appear but the key to this journey is PATIENCE PATIENCE PATIENCE and TRUST THE PROCESS. I’ll continue to post my journey weekly ☺️ Morning routine: Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Aveeno - Clear Complexion Sheer Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 Nightly routine OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream Aveeno - Clear Complexion Sheer Daily Moisturizer SPF 30

The ordinary love✨✨
I cannot express enough my struggles with oily skin and acne. I’ve tried countless skin care products and nothing worked for me. My last try to fix my skin was using K-beauty products as much as I loved their products it just did not work for me. That’s when I tried The ordinary although I was skeptical at first but after seeing the results I was blown away by the change. The Ordinary - Squalane Cleanser I begin my day with cleaning my face using this cleanser and it leaves my skin feeling hydrated and smooth. This can also be used as a makeup cleanser and it works as effectively as any other makeup remover. Hylamide - Pore Flush Acne prone skin certainly faces large pore issues and my skin was no different. This product helps reduce your pore size. I spray (or pat) this on my face after using the cleanser and within seconds it gets absorbed in my skin (I absolutely love love love that). The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 It’s my personal opinion to use HA before using Niacinamide as it doesn’t leave your face feeling dry. Hydration is the key to achieve fresh looking soft skin and i achieved it using this product. The Ordinary - 100% Niacinamide Powder I’ve tried the niacinamide +zinc and it’s powder version too and tbh they both work great. Please note this product did not help me with my current acne but helped me control the sebum activity on my skin which in turn did not give me any new breakouts. The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA I can swear by this product 😍. It doesn’t leave my skin oily, doesn’t give me any breakouts and my skin feels soo smooth. I will 💯 recommend this product to anyone who struggles with oily and acne prone skin. The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque Any nose strip I used to get rid of my blackheads they ended up giving me a very oily t-zone 😓. I use this product once 2 weeks for 10 mins on my face and holy grain, it not only cleans my face but doesn’t leave it feeling dehydrated. ✨I have never overused any product on my skin and hence never faced any sort of dryness on my face. I’d certainly recommend trying these products. It’s a 10/10 for me. I hope this helps you and do let me know your experience with this brand 💜

Active Ingredients for Oily Acne-Prone Skin
Where are my oily-skin peeps at? 🙋🏻‍♀️ I hated looking like a shiny-faced grease ball as a pre-teen and teen, but now glowy skin is in! But that doesn't mean we can't benefit from having some oil-targetting ingredients in our routine. The oil on our skin is called sebum. It is produced by sebaceous glands naturally and is made up of a mixture of lipids (oily molecules) like wax esters, squalene, cholesterol, triglycerides, and various fatty acids. It’s essential for normal skin function by creating a protective coating on our skin that helps keep it moisturized. However, if our body produces too much sebum, then we have “oily” skin and if our body produces too little sebum we have “dry” skin. People with oily skin are prone to clogged pores and acne because this sebum then mixes with dead skin cells and builds up on our skin. In order to prevent or reduce this, we can use ingredients that target our sebaceous glands to reduce how much is produced, and also target components of the oil to prevent build up. RETINOIDS are great for many reasons (check out my last post for a guide on retinoids and what’s so great about them) but I mention there here because they specifically shrink the size of sebaceous gland which leads to less oil production. SALICYLIC ACID is a BHA and is the only oil soluble chemical exfoliant which means that it can dissolve the oil to clear our pores. This is great especially for targeting blackheads (check out my second post for more info on this BHA). NIACINANIDE (also known as Vitamin B3) is a molecule essential for metabolism in all cells. It has also been shown to reduce triglycerides and other fatty acids in oil. Research shows that 2-5% of niacinamide is effective for the benefits of topical application even though several brands have products with concentrations as high as 10%. Some people experience redness with higher concentrations of niacinamide, so just remember that more does not necessarily mean better and try starting with products that have <5% niacinamide. Which products do you already use with these ingredients? Some I’ve used and enjoyed are: The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I'm from - Rice Toner PURITO - Galacto Niacin 97 Power Essence The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator #CheriePartner

The Ordinary: Direct Acids
The Ordinary: Direct Acids
Who doesn’t love a good acid? These are the current ones I own by The Ordinary. The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution ➕ Glycolic acid toner is so nice. I reach for this multiple times a week. It’s perfect to even out skin tone, texture, and to remove that extra makeup you may have missed while cleansing. This is so affordable and also still gentle on the skin at 7% glycolic acid. The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% ➕ I don’t reach for this acid as often, not because I don’t enjoy it, but because it’s not easily available in Canada. I ordered it from the UK and it cost me almost 3x the price. I do enjoy using it as spot treatment. It’s perfect for brightening and improves skin texture. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution ➕ This is a stronger peel. Works like a mask where you apply it for no more than 10 minutes and wash off. Your skin is softer and smoother after. This isn’t an acid peel for beginners or those with really sensitive skin as the acid contents is quite a bit higher. This contains 5 acids: glycolic, lactic, citric, salicylic, & tartaric. The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA ➕Lactic acid is a high-strength superficial peel. It exfoliates and brightens the skin. This is a more serum-like texture. It comes in 5% or 10%. Really nice product in my opinion; provides quick results for smooth skin :) The Ordinary - Mandelic Acid 10% + HA ➕ This is by far my favourite acid. It’s a superficial dermal peel as well and it’s more gentle than other AHAs. It’s more gentle because it has larger molecules and say glycolic acid, which in turn allows it to penetrate the skin slower. The Ordinary offers more direct acids, such a salicylic acid, but these are the ones I own and enjoy.

All about The Ordinary
All about The Ordinary
Since starting my skin care routine in 2019, I have found myself to love The Ordinary skincare line. I have pictured my 3 favorite products from their line currently: The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution The Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution is a must for toner in your skincare routine! Glycolic acid is an AHA used to exfoliate the skin, removing the outermost layer of skin on your face to reveal newer, brighter skin. It’s usually used to treat scarring, skin discoloration and even to help with the process of aging. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% As I stated before, the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum is my holy grail for serums. This serum helps reduce skin congestion while balancing the sebum production in your face ( basically controls the oils in your skin). Some more benefits of this serum is the reduction of pore “size” and even reduces the redness you’re skin can produce during and after the cleansing of your skin! The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution This peeling solution is a must in my skin care. This is another great form of exfoliation as the chemical peel will bring fourth your new, brightening skin after the first use! I use this product if I have a bad break out or too much texture on my face! Overall, The Ordinary skin care line doesn’t have to be expensive to work miracles! The Ordinary only uses necessary ingredients in their products, keeping the price of them low. I would 11/10 recommend these products, let alone the whole skin care line!

Rating all of my Ordinary products!
Rating all of my Ordinary products!
Hi guys! Let’s rate some of the products I have bought recently from The Ordinary. This company has been getting a lot of hype recently and we’re going to discuss what’s worth buying and what’s NOT worth it. First & foremost this company is AFFORDABLE. Most things are between $5-20. The idea is to offer clinical skincare at honest prices. First up: The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA Rate: 3/5. I’m giving this a 3 out of only because I haven’t seen much of a difference in using it? It does make your skin more sensitive to the sun and sometimes it can be irritating. So 3 stars is what it gets. Next: The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Rate: 4/5. This is definitely the most adorable hyaluronic acid serum I have ever bought. Comparable to SkinCeuticals. The only reason I’m giving it 4 out of 5 and not 5 is because if I overuse it my skin tends to break out. I use this every other day instead of everyday! Every body is different just see what works for you. Next: The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil Rate: 5/5 wow, I’m giving this the best score because it’s one of the best oils I’ve ever used on my skin. Helps to hydrate and reduce signs of aging! Last: The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Rate: 5/5 one of the best peeling solution masks in my skincare regimen. Use only once a week for 5 mins and you will see your pores slowly reduce. Worth it! Let me know in the comments what other Ordinary products I should buy!!

The Ordinary’s Acids: Simple but Effective
The Ordinary’s Acids: Simple but Effective
Let’s talk about some of the Ordinary’s acids I’ve used! I love the Ordinary for their simple, affordable formulations that forgo the bad and hyped to instead include scientifically-backed ingredients. But sometimes simplicity can leave something to be desired. The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA Super simple, leaves a slight tacky feel but soaks in quickly otherwise. I noticed a subtle smoothing and softening of my skin over my use of this product. Best for those who don’t do well with glycolic acid. The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Solution This serum does it’s job of deep exfoliation but not very elegantly. While I did see improvement in pore size and acne frequency, the serum takes a while to soak in and left a tacky finish that caused my other products to pill. But it would be a good serum for those looking to try out BHA for acne and congested pores. The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% I noticed hyperpigmentation reduction with this cream, but I cannot stand the silicone texture. It has a strange grit to it, no matter how much I shake up the bottle. I also think my skin dislikes heavy silicones, as I experienced increased breakouts when using this, despite the wonderful brightening and calming properties it has. The matte finish is best for oily skin types and I’d recommend it for those who don’t mind silicone. The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque I love this mask! It combines salicylic acids vegetable charcoal, and Amazonian clay with squalane and glycerin to keep the mask from overly drying skin while still targeting congestion. Whenever my acne was terrible, this helped tremendously in shortening the lifespan of blemishes. I can’t recommend this enough for those that struggle with acne around hormonal flares since it’s a good spot-treatment. The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution This is my favourite The Ordinary acid for multi-day use in the week. It soaks in quickly, is slightly hydrating (moreso than the Lactic Acid + HA, oddly), doesn’t tingle or make my skin red, yet I can see over a couple weeks of use that my skin looks brighter and more even in texture. My only issue with this product that it does leave the skin slightly sticky- like your hands are after you touch something sweet. But there’s no pilling issue, so this is a great acid for those looking to lighten hyperpigmentation and smooth bumpy texture.

The Ordinary Review
The Ordinary Review
Overall, I love the ordinary. They are a brand that is affordable and has no bs in their products! Most companies add so many different products that contradict each other and then the product alone just DOES👏NOT👏WORK👏 This brand is the opposite, it only puts in main products. 1.) The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA is a very good product for its price point ($6.80). It is not a product you should be using everyday! I use this once a week and that’s enough for me. It is a very harsh product but it definitely does the job! On their site they make sure to say that you should do a patch test first and slowly start to ease into using it, aka DO NOT just slap a bunch of it on your face the minute you buy it! 2.) The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Squalane is another really great product for its price point ($7.90). Personally, it is not one of my favorites by them. It is a very nice oil for the face but it seemed to make my face very very oily (and i have normal to dry skin). Their site does say “Mimics the skin’s natural oils”. This product is not only for the face, it is can also be used for your hair! 3.) The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% This product is my holy grail. It tighten the look of my pores, hydrated my skin, and overall just made my skin look and feel so much better. I use it three times a week, right after cleansing my face. WOULD 100% RECOMMENED!!!

Current Favourite Night Serums 🌌
I’ve really been loving these 2 night serums lately! And it’s pretty hard to resist The Ordinary’s prices. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I’ll be honest.. I first got this serum probably a year ago and I never really got into it until now. I had really bad acne at the time and got frustrated with anything that wasn’t giving me instant improvement so I think I tried it for about a week and then gave up on it. But recently I felt like I should give it a second chance and now I love it!! It is keeping my face clear and even and I really enjoy how it goes on. I’ll be repurchasing this from now on!! The Ordinary - Mandelic Acid 10% + HA I did a lot of research on The Ordinary’s products lately in search of a new favourite. Mandelic Acid is advertised as an AHA similar to glycolic acid - only more gentle and suited for sensitive skin. This product also has hyaluronic acid to replenish moisture. This combo feels AMAZING on my skin. It instantly feels so smooth and soft. I love that it is a chemical exfoliant that I don’t have to worry about it irritating or drying out my skin and I can use it every night. It is smoothing and evening my skin out and I really enjoy and look forward to using it
