My acne fighting duo for under $20

Some acne honesty: Although these worked really well for me, they might not work for everyone. Your skin is unique and might react better to different products. It can be a really frustrating process, I totally get it! What worked for me was finding someone online who had a similar skin type and similar story when it came to acne. Just always remember to take it easy on yourself. Acne is normal and it doesn’t make you any less beautiful. My current skin situation: I currently have combination, acne prone skin. I had very clear skin for most of my life until I went off birth control over a year ago now. I tried almost everything to try and get rid of my acne, but it took months to find a solution. It was just earlier this year that I finally found a couple products that helped keep acne at bay! I barely gets zits anymore (bless) but when I do, it can be very discouraging. My skin scars very very easily and it takes at least a month to get rid of the scars left over from the acne. SO anytime I see a zit pop up, I reach for these two products which help me 1) get rid of that zit quickly and 2) minimize the potential for future acne scars. How I use these together: Benzagel - Acne Gel 5%
(face wash version) I usually use this just at night time because I just do a water cleanse in the morning. But when I get a pimple, during the morning I’ll cover the zit with the face wash for about a minute then wash that off. Then I’ll proceed with the rest of my routine, but I’ll avoid using any vitamin c / spf on the pimple. And then this where I’ll add the.... COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch
When I have a zit I will wear one of these during the day and a new one at night. It’s a grossly satisfying product because once you take them off, you can see the amount of oils that it has pulled from the skin / zit (you’ll see a white blob on the patch). The effects: After just 24 hours, the zit will almost fully disappear when I use the two of these together. The spot will be so much smaller than it is when I let the acne heal itself and the scarring is minimal, if noticeable at all. Which is amazing considering my normal pimples almost always scar (even if I DONT pop them). The best part: You can get both of these products for less than $10 CAD!

Popping zits no more 💢
No matter how good my skincare routine is, I won’t ever be invincible and never experience a breakout here or there *i wish tho* I used to pop my pimples (yikes, I know), and would often find myself playing at the scab without even noticing—which is super duper NOT what you want to do to prevent more pimples from appearing! So, I found this little gem at the pharmacy Benzagel - Acne Gel 5% and it has helped so so so much! As soon as I see a zit incoming, I put some of this “spot on” gel, and voilà. I’ll usually reapply once as the day goes on, or just before going to bed. By the next day, it’s pretty much gone (or at the very least, will not go into that icky red/white/about to pop any minute phase) I really like this one because it doesn’t dry out the breakout. I already have dry skin tendencies, so I want to stay away from the acne gels that make your spot flaky and dry up! And also hurray to not having as many tiny scars from popping anymore! I love this gel, and recommend it +++ Cheers xx

My Canadian acne lifesaver!
My story: After I went off birth control I seriously didn’t have a week without a pimple. While this might not seem like a big deal, my pimples almost always leave scars, even if I leave them untouched (and I must say, that takes a lot of will power). I was seriously at a loss when I finally found this product. I had given up dairy, I was drinking less alcohol, I trying to eat essentially less of everything except fruits and vegetables because I was desperate to fix my skin. I tried salicylic acid products, niacinamide products, pimple patches... a lot of money and a lot of different products. I was so crushed. I hated taking pictures, I was so self conscious and I wore wayy more makeup than I usually do to cover 1) the pimples and 2) the scars. My confidence had hit a new low. THEN I was watching a YouTube video by a Canadian blogger named Allegra Shaw and saw that she had had the same issues with acne after going off birth control. She mentioned that this product was one of the only things that helped. So I rushed to Shoppers Drug Mart and bought one immediately. I opted for the face wash over the gel because I heard the gel is drying and honestly I know benzoyl peroxide might not be the best thing for the skin, so I figure quickly washing your face with it and rinsing it off is the lesser of two evils. This is one of the only products where I noticed a difference right away. I immediately stopped having acne and I haven’t had a pimple since. NOT ONE in over two months which used to seem so impossible to me. This and my Then I Met You toner have seriously changed my skin and kept my acne at bay. And the best past is that this face wash is less than $10. I try to use this just once a day in the evenings after I take off my makeup. If I ever feel like I’m at risk of a flare up (say during my time of the month) I’ll let this stay on my skin for about a minute before washing it off. Otherwise, I just gently apply to my skin and rinse it off right away. Worth it? If you’re desperate, 100%. I seriously always have two backups of this in my cupboard. I will never not have this on me. I know it might not be the best products for your skin because it can be harsh, but I just always make sure it rinse it off well and use a good moisturizer afterwards. I can’t describe to you how much more confident I have become since purchasing this and I finally feel like I can go makeup free. And now I just need to find a way to get rid of the pesky acne scars...

Anti-Acne Remember This Do And Don't
Skin type: combination, oily T-zone in summer/ dry in winter Main concern: Acne   I've had acne since the 8th grade, and it hasn't stopped for almost ten years. I've experienced several kinds of breakouts, such as hormonal acne, zit, pustules, stress acne etc. This can be said the nightmare of my life. Every day I wake up with annoying new breakouts. And I don't know how to cover it. Later, when I entered university, I learned to apply makeup, and I bought a lot of concealers and foundation with good coverage. But the truth is, the more I wanted to cover acne, the more acne bumped up.   Here are two products and related tips I want to talk about.   # Thursday Plantation Farm Tea Tree Acne Gel 25g It is a tea tree medicated gel for acne, which will heal pimples and acnes slowly. It contains tea tree oil, which is a natural antibacterial agent that penetrates the skin. It's my DO products when I endure severing breakouts. I usually apply a small amount to the affected area after the shower. Because I also experience back acne and breast acne. Cleansing is the most important part of healing acne. If you cannot keep inflamed are clean, it would be hard for this gel to play its role. And I would use gel when I saw pimple that tends to appear. This gel can dry it before it tends to breakout. I found it is not useful for pustules that resemble a whitehead with a red ring around the bump.   # Cosrx, Acne Pimple Master Patch, 24 Patches  COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch This acne patch is my DON'T. I couldn't remember when I bought it. It is such a trendy on the Internet. I saw many influencers use it, which is why I want to give it a try. But it is a no for me. I apply it to my bump, which is typically filled with white or yellow pus after picking or squeezing. Remind: Don't pick or squeeze your breakout, it may cause inflammation. I squeeze it only when it breaks naturally. And I would clean the around area of it. This acne patch's shape is suitable for cover. But it cannot soak the pus entirely, which makes my bump keeps inflaming and may lead to a scar.   To sum up, though this Cosrx, Acne Pimple Master Patch, Acne patch from 3M is perfect. If you are experiencing breakouts like me, give it a try.

Buhbyeee Zits 👋
These patches are a definite skin saver! COSRX - Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch has been able to take my whitehead healing time down from weeks to days (dare I say sometimes only hours)! I don’t know about you, but I have about zero willpower when I find a whitehead, and just about always pop it. The great thing about these patches: I find they actually work best on an open zit! Of course, it would be better if you opened it in a cleaner manner such as with a sterile needle, but… y’know 😶 Wash and dry the area, then slap on of these bad boys on. Not only does it draw the gunk out from the open area, but also provides a barrier to prevent any more wandering fingers. Personally, this is the biggest benefit for me as I frequently cause scarring by continuously playing with the same spots. Some other notes: They are pretty noticeable, and are not the type you can hide under makeup. If you don’t want them to be seen, I would save them for at-home use. Depending on where they’re placed, I can also get away with them in the occasional Zoom meeting 😉 When they start to get gunky in one spot, I shift the placement of the patch so that a clean area is over the top of the zit. They stick very well so you can move them around once or twice and they will still adhere. They are not a preventative measure against whiteheads. Other chemical treatments are great for that; this is designed for a whitehead sitting at the surface of your skin. I hope they work just as well for you, too! 🥰

Best Acne Patches on the Market!!
Best Acne Patches on the Market!!
I have been using these for YEARS. I recently started trying out new ones just in case I could find an alternative closer to home (I order these online either at jolse.com or on amazon if I’m in a pinch) but nothing has come close. I cannot praise them enough for how well they get rid of the gunk in my pimples (AND the pores around them too!!) These were my saving grace back in high school when I had horrible cystic acne. I have repurchased a pack of 5 about 4 times since I started using them back in 2015 or 2016. How I used them: 1. Bring my acne to a head then use a (sterilized) needle to open it up 2. Place on acne after serums but before moisturizer at night 3. Peel off the next morning to find my acne much smaller Fair warning: they’re not very good to use during the day under makeup. It’s very obvious that you have them on.

So I was looking for something to spend my Amazon gift card on and came across Acropass’ Trouble Cure Acne Patch. It's basically the same concept as Zitsticka. Simply put, it’s a pimple patch with microdarts that get below the surface to treat cystic acne aka deep-rooted pimples. It is infused with ingredients like ethanol, salicylic acid, niacinamide, and hyaluronic acid that dissolve into the skin. ✨ How to use it: It comes with a pad that is soaked in salicylic acid and tea tree oil which is used to clean the targeted area. Once it dries completely, apply the pimple patch then continue with your skincare routine. It is suggested to keep it on for a minimum of 2 hours or overnight for best results. ✨ My experience: I’ve had this stubborn blind pimple for more than 2 months and nothing I tried was working so I gave this patch a shot. If you swipe left, you can see the difference from when I had just popped it and it was very angry! It didn’t get rid of the pimple overnight like they claimed but it certainly helped flatten it and reduce the inflammation. After my fourth use (yes it took that long), my pimple was pretty much healed and completely flat which I was very happy about! 😭 ⚫️ Pros: it was actually effective in flattening the pimple and reducing the swelling. The patch is very sticky so I had no issues with it coming off like I’ve had with the cosrx ones. Most of all it actually healed my angry 2 month old pimple but it took 4 patches! ⚫️ Cons: the pads have a very strong alcohol smell. They're all individually packaged which is not the most environmental friendly but I guess there's a reason for it. It’s not a perfect overnight fix but I’m honestly not mad about that because it still made the healing time a lot faster! Also it is expensive, basically paying CA$4.60 per patch. Overall, I think these would work better and faster for pimples that havent surfaced or popped. Would I repurchase? I think so, if I get a stubborn pimple again!

I’ve been trying out the @zitsticka patches for a little bit now. I really like the feeling of the little darts once you put it onto the pimple. Is that weird?? It gives you a little stingy feeling, but I like it! All my life I’ve been looking for a magical product... but still haven’t found it, most likely because it doesn’t exist lol! It did a good job of calming down the pimple after the second time using it. I would recommend these for a quick and easy fix!

These pads would be a great option for those with acne to use. But if you have sensitive skin like me, these probably wouldn’t work. These pads burned my skin and made my skin red. But if you don’t have sensitive skin, I would still only recommend you use these 1-3 times a week because they are VERY strong.
