How I Shrunk and Tightened my Pores ✅
Hey Cherie Sisters 👯♀️ Happy Friday! My skin is normal to dry and I suffer from large pores, sun spots, dullness and acne scars from my teenage years. My skin care routine included a cleanser, a toner and a moisturizer. It wasn’t until recently that I stepped it up with the serums, essences and exfoliates. I have been watching Dr. Dray on YouTube. She is a dermatologist and skin care enthusiast and she mentioned the importance of Niacinamade which is a vitamin B3. My biggest concern is my large pores and this claims to promote a brighter skin and minimize your pores. While doing research on Niacinamide, I came across Hyram’s video regarding minimizing pores. He swears by the 2% BHA exfoliant by Paula’s Choice. This has over 3000+ reviews on their website and has numerous positive reviews on YouTube. After I did a careful research, I found that 10% niacinamde booster by Paula’s Choice Skincare might be the best choice. I bought the BHA exfoliant as well. Ole Henriksen’s Glow 2OH’s Toner was my go-to, but it has a strong scent to it. PC BHA is fragrance free and feels much lighter on the skin. I have only used this product for 2 weeks so I can’t do a depth review, but so far I like it. This also helps shrink my break outs faster which is a plus PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I use the 10% niacinamide during the day time and night time. I expected the consistency to be oily - similar to DE’s Marula Oil, but this feels straight up like water. It feels good and cool on my skin. I’ve only used this for 2 weeks but so far I noticed my face is a lot brighter and glowy. PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster I used to get Botox for preventative wrinkles. I get injected by a plastic surgeon and he recommended I wear sunscreen on the daily. I used to not wear sunscreen b/c I didn’t think I needed it. I am on the tanner side and believed the myth that only fair skinned people needed them. I was proven wrong by my injector and he recommended I use ELTA MD’s sunscreen. I love this sunscreen because it also moisturizes. It has a creamy consistency similar to a moisturizer. I hate that sticky feeling that most sunscreens give so this is perfect. This also contains Hyaluronic Acid which is a plus! It’s also cheaper than most high end sunscreens on the market. elta md SKINCARE - UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40

THE ORDINARY Niacinamide serum...meh
I’ve tried The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% twice. The first time I used it, I thought it was awful. I broke out in places I never had breakouts, it didn’t do much for my oily skin and it didn’t allow subsequent facial products to glide smoothly on my face. Fast forward to now where I know better about what my face might need, I decided to give it a try again. PROS: -this serum, like most of The Ordinary’s products, is relatively cheap so it’s for people who are starting out with skincare (and pretty much everyone else) -it helped reduce the appearance of blemishes and in combination with other sebum regulators like salicylic acid and oil cleansing, I have combination skin and only slightly oily on my T-zone now. CONS: -I don’t like how it applies to my skin. At first when I started using it again, it would pill as I was rubbing it in. I took this as a sign that maybe it should be patted into the skin but the consistency of the serum makes it hard to cover surface with what I thought was a good amount (in comparison with other serums). -the finish on my skin is tacky and doesn’t feel like a water based serum -layering products on top was kind of a nightmare in the beginning (still is sometimes). Using products like The Ordinary - Retinol 0.2% in Squalanewas weird because the niacinamide would pill and the retinol would apply grainy and it wasn’t a good consistency on my face TIPS: -make sure you use this serum on damp skin. It will apply and absorb better -when you apply the drops on your face, try to rub/pat it in quickly because it dries quite fast. Once it’s all over where you want it to be, pat it in before it’s fully dried. This also helps with absorption and I’ve found other products will layer on too much better Overall, I think that niacinamide in itself is good but this formulation isn’t for me. When I finish this (or even before then), I will be trying PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster Comment what niacinamide products you use because I’m interested in trying others😊
The “super ingredient” every talks about
I wanted to love the PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster And I don’t hate it! But: I didn’t notice any difference to my skin; The product is really thin and a bit hard to get on; Ran out quickly (bottle is about ⅔ of 1 ounce); Kinda pricey ($45) considering the above ^. Seeing that niacinamide is becoming more common in other products, I don’t think I’ll buy another concentrated niacinamide booster.

how I got rid of a (bad) BREAKOUT
I experienced a really bad breakout (for me at least because I am thankful enough to never really breakout), from a reaction to a product. as you can see in the first pics, I had small pimples and bumps all over my forehand, cheeks and jawline areas. products I used that I believe helped my skin: PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator this is a holy grail and always a repurchase for me! it is comprised of salicylic acid, green tea and sodium hydroxide. these are the main ingredients! it’s super SUPER gentle on my skin and I see noticeable results whenever I use it. helped my texture, redness and pimples! CeraVe - Salicylic Acid Facial Cleanser this cleanser is perfect for acne prone, oily skin and this is now my all time favourite cleanser !! this is also super gentle and doesn’t strip my skin afterwards. I love how much it foams and it’s such an effective yet affordable cleanser. helped my overall skin texture and aided my breakouts. peach slices - Snail Rescue Intensive Wash-Off Mask has 95% snail mucin which is one of the most celebrated K-beauty ingredients for powerful yet gentle results! it also has centella asiatica extract and hyaluronic acid. this mask really helped with my dark spots on my face and skin texture. peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner this basically has the same ingredients and results as the snail rescue mask. I use this every day morning and night and now I can’t live without it! MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion uses salicylic acid, calamine and sulfur to help dry up my pimples overnight. this is a go to for me and I use it every night where I have pimples on my face. they normally always go away overnight!! Neutrogena - Rapid Clear Stubborn Acne Spot Gel I got this product due to my breakouts and I really like it ! however, it is really strong and you only need a small amount. the only problem with this is that with me using it quite frequently, as it is directed, it dried out my skin in those areas and made it really dry and flake. I will say that the pimples went away. I like this one for the day time as the drying lotion is pink and I don’t really want to wear that out and about haha. breakouts are normal and happen for many reasons ! although this really brought down my confidence, I had to remember that it’s not as bad as I thought it was and that it would go away with time. for me, sticking to a strict skincare routine both morning and night really helps my skin !
I used to have really nice skin but when I moved to Canada last year, my skin immediately broke out and has just been becoming worse and worse. I have tried so many products and none of them seemed to work. This is my recent routine and I thought these products would help but it’s still not getting better (in fact I’m getting more breakouts) CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin I use these products every day and night. I also use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solutionevery Tuesday and Friday (I don’t use the paulas choice liquid exfoliator on these days) AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing ClayI only use this once a month.
Quick lil skin update
Phew my skin has calmed down so much since the last time I posted 10 days ago. I cannot even explain how bad purging was for me. I realized I had so much gunk clogged in my pores it was insane! My skin is finally calming down and getting smoother. Not completely, still have hyperpigmentation and some small comedones but I feel like I’m finally over the worst part🤞🏽😅 My current skin care routine definitely feels less harsh than what I was using in the beginning and is as follows: AM Routine: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser Gentle on my skin in the morning, not stripping or drying but kinda pricey I feel like you could find a similar, cheaper option SUNDAY RILEY - C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face OilJust started using this for the past week so I can’t tell if it’s doing anything yet but it’s fast absorbing AND it’s THD Ascorbate (as opposed to Ascorbic Acid) meaning it’s more stable, can be mixed with niacinamide and other higher pH ingredients AND has a longer shelf-life The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HAAlso just started using this so not sure if it’s doing anything CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin A+, love to death elta md SKINCARE - UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 Another ride or die🤞🏽 PM Routine: BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil I’ve learned that I love cleansing OILS as opposed to balms but there are cheaper options out there ☺️ CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin Started using this again at night and so glad I did! It really feels like it’s cleaning and getting into my pores 🧼 (key: after washing my face for a minute I let the wash sit for another minute or 2 to let the SA really sink in) SKINCEUTICALS - Blemish + Age Defense MY HOLY GRAIL. Has really transformed my skin in the past 2 weeks, definitely recommend if you’ve got the budget cause this bad boy sits at $92 PURITO - Centella Green Level Calming Toner I apply this thick calming toner 15 minutes after letting my skinceuticals absorb in my skin and it’s so calming love it ACURE - Radically Rejuvenating Eye Cream Love this thick eye cream especially when I put it in my skin care fridge, not sure if it does more than moisturize though THE inkey LIST - Ceramide Night Treatment Nice consistency, not too heavy or light, but not sure if it does anything yet The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane 2 drops at night to seal everything in, has my skin waking up glowy and non irritated ✨
Spf✨ even on rainy days 🌧
A no make up day so I get to reapply my favorite sunblock throughout the day As well as lip balm with spf! elta md SKINCARE - UV Daily Broad-Spectrum SPF 40 I’m a fan fav and ordered the 46 spf one last night since that one is for acne prone skin I have noticed a little piling when I re apply throughout the day but this could be due to the moisturizer used underneath It claims to be a moisturizing spf so I should try to use it as so and not use moisturizer one of these days but for now I just incorporate into my moisturizer and oil combo or underneath make up COOLA - Classic Liplux Organic Lip Balm Sunscreen Original SPF 30 Is an extremely moisturizing lip balm that is 30spf I wouldn’t even look at something twice without at least 30spf so I’m glad this offers so much protection ,especially for my lips A great product that’s not oily and build able for smooth and moisturized lips
Which Niacinamide Serum Is For You?
There are tons of niacinamide serums, especially now that niacinamide has been catapulted into popularity by skinfluencers on Instagram, Youtube, TikTok, and Cherie. But there are a lot- what’s the difference, other than cost? Well, it’s the ingredient list. • PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster is my all-time favourite niacinamide product. Niacinamide, a vitamin C derivative, multiple antioxidants (CoQ10 being one of note), soothing allantoin, calming licorice root extract, and a variety of humectants that include sodium hyaluronate. This serum is hydrating, soothing, and brightening, in addition to its regulating oil production and minimizing the appearance of pores. Nothing has helped my sebaceous filaments like using this and PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator . I recommend this for all skin types, particularly dry, sensitive, and/or mature skin. • THE inkey LIST - Niacinamide Oil Control Serum is as simple as they come, with a short INCI list that touts niacinamide, multiple humectants (like actual hyaluronic acid which is also soothing), squalane, and allantoin. It’s a no-frills formula whose price is hard to pass up. I’d recommend this for all skin types, especially sensitive skin that may want to avoid a lot of different ingredients, or dry skin which will enjoy the inclusion of extra emollients. • The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% is a weird serum for me. I personally don’t like it and had horrible results- my skin broke out into tiny red bumps and felt itchy anytime I applied even the most diluted droplet of it. But I later learned it is the Zinc PCA in the product that can sometimes cause the skin reaction. That Zinc PCA is part of why this serum is amazing for oily and acne prone skin- zinc helps to balance sebum (oil) production and can reduce the occurrence of acne. So if your skin likes zinc, this serum is 5/5 stars for the cost! Those sensitive to zinc will want to skip, as well as dry skin folks since the combo of niacinamide and zinc pca can be a bit drying if your serum production doesn’t need balancing. What are some other products you’d like to see me compare? #CheriePartner
PAULA'S CHOICE-10% Niacinamide Booster
The rage is real✨
PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Niacinamide Booster Paula’s choice 10% niacinamide booster is another product that has totally transformed my skin. Despite the price point, this product delivers 100% by minimizing the appearance of pores and aiding in the texture of skin. It has brightened up my skin within 2 months of using the niacinamide booster continuously. Within 6 months of using this product on a daily routine, you will see a significance difference in the sizes of your pores. In addition, the consistency of the product is somewhat oily which helps with hydration and leaves the skin looking healthy as ever. ——————————————— How to use? This particular product is best to use during the morning. Add this into your morning skin routine: cleanse tone drops of niacinamide moisturizer if needed SPF of 50 or higher ——————————————— Results As mentioned above, this product delivers the most. The appearance of my pores have significant decreased and I am so happy with how well this product fit right into my skin. It does not irritate the skin or feel greasy whatsoever. ———————————————— Recommend 95% If you have dehydrated skin and large pores and you’re looking to minimize the appearance of your pores, definitely invest in this product! The reason I say this product is a better fit for those with dry skin is because the consistency of the product is oily and I’m not sure how well it would work on someone with oily skin. Furthermore, the price point of this product is fairly expensive for the amount of product you receive. Regardless, it makes a huge difference on your skin and is worth it for these skin concerns!

Wake up with glowy (but not oily) skin 😴
I👏🏼am👏🏼obsessed👏🏼with👏🏼glowy👏🏼skin. I am always trying to find products that give me super glowy and bright skin. I’ve really enjoyed vitamin c products and specifically with the SKINCEUTICALS - C E Ferulic With 15% L-Ascorbic Acid Vitamin C SerumI think their combo of vitamin c and vitamin e is amazing (but $$$). So I’m always looking for ways to obtain a similar result. Enter, freshly juiced vitamin e mask! The good: + The texture is SO cool. It’s almost like a jello consistency and then when you start to work it in with your hands it melts into this more watery texture. It’s very cool, I haven’t tried a product like it before. + Very lightweight on the skin. + When I combine this with a vitamin c serum at night, I will wake up and my skin feels so smooth and bright. I always feel good about my skin the next morning. + Key ingredients include: vitamin e (antioxidant that brightens and works well with vitamin c), niacinimide (brightens and controls oil) and adenosine (claims to help with anti-aging). + Definitely appears to be helping my vitamin c fade some of my acne scars. There’s one in particular on my forehead that I’ve noticed a huge change in over the last few weeks. + A little goes a long way. The not so good? - I believe this is advertised as both a moisturizer and a sleeping mask. I think honestly this works best as a sleeping mask. - If you cant stand products with a slightly sticky texture, this might not be for you. - Although they claim Adenosine is a key ingredient, it’s fairly far down the ingredient list. - If you are sensitive to essential oils, I would also stay away because this product definitely has some citrus oils included (although it does smell very nice). Is it worth it? So this mask is around $25-$30 depending on where you buy it. I do think that’s a pretty fair price point actually! A little goes a long way when you use the product and the results are good. To me, worth it! Will I repurchase? If this continues to help with my acne scars, then yes, 100%. Ps I have combination (right now, it seems more oily than usual) and acne prone skin.

GREAT BARRIER RELIEF // krave beauty After over two months of using this serum twice daily, it’s time I do a review! I’ve almost emptied my bottle and store it upside down to get every last use of the product out (unfortunately the pump wastes a lot of product at the bottom). Facts first: GBR is $28 for 40mls on the Krave Beauty site (US & Korea). It claims to be a skin repairing serum for a compromised skin barrier that evens complexion with star ingredients being tamanu oil, niacinamide, safflower oil, rosehip oil, squalane, ceramides, and cholesterols (in that order) in a thin, water based formula. I fell in love with the formula before I even purchased it after learning about it on YouTube (which I highly suggest doing!). tamanu oil has helped hyperpigmentation more than vitamin C or retinol has, which is crazy! Skin type: I have oily, dehydrated, acne prone skin with hyperpigmentation and scarring. I use chemical exfoliants and SPF daily, acne preventative products, and masks regularly. I always felt like my skin barrier needed something more. I looked toward this product because it seemed to be the “all-in-one” that targets all my issues in one product. My results: After the first week, I noticed a significant reduction in oiliness. My skin was BALANCED, more than it has ever been. With prolonged use, my hyperpigmentation from recent acne started fading more easily, and my skin felt so supple. After exfoliant peels, prolonged sun exposure, etc., my skin CRAVES this product because I know I can count on it to restore its balance. Although this is a supplemental product in Krave’s line, it definitely is a formula I think all skin types, with any skin concern, would enjoy! Will I repurchase? Eventually, yes. Is this a holy grail? Absolutely. Right now, I have other products I need to use and test. I also know that rosehip oil alone has been a savior of mine in the past, and my skin responds similarly to it as it does to GBR. I also have other products currently in my routine with niacinamide, ceramides, and balancing oils that I can use… Unless Krave wants to replenish me of course LOL
Krave-Great Barrier Relief
I wanted to share with you today my final thoughts about the klairs serum. I have posted a short review of it some time ago, but didn't like the photo and also some of you may not have seen it so I decided to post it again 😄 🍋 Star ingredients: Vitamin C - Ascorbic Acid (5%), Centella Asiatica Extract and many different fruit and roots extracts 🍋 Consistency: something like a dry oil, absorbs well but not to completely matte finish, pH level of 3.81 🍋 Performance: This was my first Vitamin C serum and at first I was afraid of this ingredient a bit because of my sensitive face. But this one never irritated my skin and it is super gentle. Regarding the effects, I really love how my skin is bright and calmed after using it. It works very well under make up and never turns my skin oily - I would say it's the opposite, keeps my sebum under control. I think it prevents hyperpigmentation a bit, but it wouldn't handle my stubborn post acne spots alone. I mostly use it in the morning (as they say vit C enhance the function of SPF) but when I leave it for the night, the skin is brighter, plump and complexion is more even the next morning 😊 🍋 TIP: It is best to keep it in the fridge as if you won't store it properly it may oxidize quickly! Overall this is a definitely 5 out of 5 to me and did I mention that it is my second bottle already? 💛 Now I want to try a serum with higher concentration of vitamin C but still, highly recommend this one!! Great introduction to those who want to start their journey with vitamin C 😊

Vitamin c serum
This vitamin c claims to brighten and improve skin texture as well as reduce hyperpigmentation. It has a mild vit c concentration at 5%, so it's great for beginners or those with sensitive skin. I’ve been using it every morning for the past 2 months and it has noticeably brightened my face, but has been very slow in fading my acne scars. The texture feels oily and it takes a minute to absorb into the skin, but it layers smoothly with other products after. Because it comes in a clear bottle, there's a higher risk for it to oxidize prematurely. I've learned to keep it in the fridge and away from direct sunlight and this has worked well so far (once it turns yellow/brown, it loses its effectiveness). Overall for me, this is a good product for its price. 😊
