Slay Your Next Zoom Interview!
Hey Cherie Sisters! 👯♀️ Times are changing and I know interviews are most likely being done via zoom nowadays with covid and social distancing. Here are some makeup tips I have on how to slay your next zoom interview. First of all, being on camera isn’t the same as being in person so how you would normally apply your makeup in person isn’t gonna look the same digitally. ✨ FACE •I normally would opt in for a natural looking foundation. However, since that cameras tend to wash you out, I would go for a medium to full coverage. I used my COLOURPOP - Pretty Fresh Hyaluronic Hydrating Foundation •I say the same for concealer. I used my tarte - Shape Tape Concealer •Cream contour and highlight to give your face dimension on screen. I used FENTY BEAUTY - Match Stix Trioin the shade Mocha and Bamboo •Apply blush heavier than normal and go for a bright color. You want something on tour face that pops and adding warmth to your cheeks will make you appear you have more life. I used MILANI - MILANI Baked Blush in Berry Amore ✨EYES •To appear wide awake, apply more eyeshadow than usual as well. Normally, I’d skip eyeshadow during interviews, but on camera you might look washed out so applying more than normal contours your eyeshadow. Use a matte medium brown shade for the crease. •Apply lots of mascara or even natural looking falsies. On zoom, you’re able to see the lighting and how you will appear on screen. Having voluminous lashes will add definition to your eyes and it will make them appear brighter on camera ✨LIPS I love using Rare Beauty - Lip Soufflé Matte Lip Cream in Courage! Applying a lipstick will make you appear more put well together ✨LIGHTING •I highly recommend a ring light. Bad lighting can be super distracting and while good lighting can make you a lot friendlier and more personable. •Make sure the light source is in front of you and not the side or from your back ✨JEWELRY Use subtle jewelry to add a little accent. I added silver earrings and a small black rectangle pendant necklace. ✨HAIR I guess this depends where you work, but if you have an interview for a corporate position, I recommend a low pony or a low bun. •if you prefer to wear your hair down make sure you can see your face clearly and your hair is out of your face ✨ADDITIONAL TIPS •Make you sure you use a professional virtual background. Having a messy background is distracting •Use headphones to cancel out random noises such as the fan and etc. •Make sure you lock your dog in the other room! I definitely made a mistake of not locking my dog and the guy who was interviewing me definitely asked me about his random barks. Here are some tips and tricks for zoom interview. I hope you find this helpful! Francesca 💋
Skincare Trends of 2020: Yass 👍 or Pass 👎?
Hey there! There have been numerous skincare trends that have been going viral this year. Although just because it’s trendy, doesn’t mean it’s effective. ☆ ANTI-POLLUTION If you live in a city, you’re likely exposed to all types of pollution such as free radicals, UV exhaust fumes and even blue light screens are part of the problem (source: HuffPost). I live in San Francisco, CA and definitely deal with the issues mentioned above especially pre-covid. Studies have shown that those who live in larger cities age faster than their suburban counterparts and there is a correlation between air pollution and suffering from skin problems. DE’s D-bronzi and c-firma claim to fight against these issues. •C-Firma contains 15% l-absorbing acid and 1% Vitamin E which create a hardworking complex that help neutralize pollution and environmental stressors (source: byrdie). This product is one of my HG and I use this religiously. I have seen improvements regarding scars and hyperpigmentation and I think the anti-pollution effect is just a bonus •D-Bronzi contains raw cocoa powder which mimic the antioxidant benefits of vitamin D without the damaging effects of UV rays. I am not convinced this will do more than your typical tinted moisturizer with skincare ingredients. However I do love this product especially during the summer time. This also help me darken my foundation needed. • I love how my favorite skincare products contain anti-pollution protection, but I’m not convinced simply because there hasn’t been enough research. I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy products specifically for anti-pollution purposes. ☆ANTI BLUE LIGHT •My tinted sunscreen from Elta MD contains ingredients that can potentially protect the skin from blue light damage. •I honestly don’t agree with the anti- blue light hype. Research show that dermatologists are not fully convinced that blue light protection products will do more than a mineral sunscreen with a strong dose of iron oxide. ☆ NIACINAMIDE + HYALURONIC ACID •Both of elta and supergoop sunscreens I own contain Niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. •HA has been proven to plump, moisturize the skin and niacinamide has a ton of benefits to the skin. It strengthens the skin’s barrier allowing it to hold moisture better for prolong hydration •I am on board with the HA and niacinamide trend. Research shows that both of these ingredients are beneficial to the skin. Long story short, I am not on board with anti-pollution and anti- blue light skincare products simply because not enough research has been done. However, skincare products that contain hyaluronic acid and niacinamide is a different story! I believe those two ingredients are definitely worth the hype! If you made it this far, congratulations because I know that was a lot. Thank you for reading :) Francesca 💋 #CheriePartner

Strange Hacks to Battle Eczema
Unfortunately, I suffer from atopic dermatitis also known as eczema. I have been battling with this skin condition since I was a child. Atopic dermatitis develops in early childhood. The main symptoms are rash, itching and burning that typically appears on arms and behind the knees. This is a permanent condition and is very common. My flare ups are at peak when it’s summer time. I usually get it on my arms, behind the knees, hands and fingers. Sometimes my neck when it’s really bad. I was advised to avoid dairy and products that contain fragrance because this can cause flare ups. I am prescribed a steroid, but sometimes even steroids don’t help with the constant itching and burning when the flare up is at its peak. A strange hack that I use to deal with my eczema is having acrylic nails. Sometimes even when my nails are filed as short as possible, they still damage my skin when itching. This also leads to more irritation resulting in more flare ups. Acrylic nails help create a hard barrier on top of my existing nail and it helps not damage the skin as much when scratching. Not only does this help, but it also makes me feel beautiful. My worst flare ups are on my hands and my fingers so having pretty nails takes away the attention on my dry patches. I have DND Gel polish in “orange rust 095” in case you’re wondering what shade I’m wearing. Another strange hack I discovered a while back in high school is using papaya herbal soap. When my aunt got back from the Philippines about a decade ago, she brought home a bunch of papaya whitening soap. She gave me a few bar of soaps to try. I’m not in to skin whitening, but I LOVED how this soap smelled. I decided to give it a shot anyway. I then realized that this soap dries out and relieve my eczema. I have been using this since...as far as whitening, I haven’t noticed a difference and don’t think it works but holy molly it worked on my eczema! This herbal soap is called Likas and it claims to lighten your skin and get rid of acne. This is made of 100% organic herbs enriched with papaya enzyme and can be used on the face and the body. I have only tried this on the body though. I purchase mine at Seafood City. I am not sure if there is a seafood city on where you live, but I know you can also purchase this on Amazon. This bar of soap is also below $5! These are the two strange hacks that I use to battle with eczema. I use non-scented lotions to moisturize my body, but I’ve been searching for a new lotion. Let me know if you have any suggestions. If you have eczema, what products did work for you? And what hacks do you do to battle it? Francesca 💋

Sustainable Beauty: Kosas 💚 🌱
I have been hearing a lot of buzz about Kosas lately and when I received the tinted face oil and the hyaluronic acid lip balm on my BoxyCharm this month premium, I was over the moon! I have been wanting to try this brand for awhile, but never but the bullet. They had the duo highlighter and blush on their add ons so I purchased that as well! WHO IS KOSAS? •Kosas was found by Sheena Yaitanes in 2015. They believe in clean beauty and infusing products with skin care ingredients while using botanic formulas. (Source: Kosas Website) •Kosas is made in California, all of these gorgeous minimalist products are made without Parabens, Pthalates, BHA/BHT, Mineral Oil, Propylene Glycol, Polyethylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, “Fragrance," Petrolatum, Vitamin A, retinoids, or retinoid derivatives. Also vegan, gluten-free, and Leaping Bunny certified. (Source: shopwithgoodintent) TINTED FACE OIL This is my new favorite product to use for a “no makeup” makeup look. It is so lightweight and has sheer coverage. It evens my skin tone and it really looks like skin. It gives me that “your skin but better” look. I also love how it’s infused with clean ingredients. This product can be easily used with fingers or a sponge. I love how this can be applied like a moisturizer or a serum. It has a runny texture and feels similar to a serum. It feels lighter than a moisturizer, but not as thick as a typical foundation. Unfortunately, I think this product is a bit too pricey and I’m not sure if I will pay full price to repurchase... however I am more of a medium to full coverage type of girl and would much prefer spending my $$$ on those type of foundations. If you are more in to sheer coverage I think you would love this product! Kosas - Tinted Face Oil Foundation KOSASPORT HYLAURONIC ACID LIP BALM •To the ladies and gents who have chronic dry lips, this is for you! I have chronic dry lips and I have tried everything...the only thing that works for me is the the Laneige sleeping mask, but it’s a little too bulky to carry that with me everywhere. I’m glad this product exists! This has hyaluronic acid which attracts water and locks in hydration. This also has mint in its ingredients so it it smells fresh. I love the recyclable packaging! This is a bit pricy as well. It’s $18 USD 5g. Unlike the tinted oil, I may actually repurchase this because I think it’s worth it for someone who suffers from chronic chapped lips. I also love how this makes my lips fuller and more plump. Kosas - Port LipFuel Hyaluronic Lip Balm I am glad there are makeup companies out there who care about the environmental impact. 🚨 Natasha Denona Glam DUPE! //$65 vs. $14
Happy Saturday Cherie Sisters 👯♀️ 💕 I hope everyone is having a great weekend so far. I have been loving cool toned eyeshadows lately. I think they are the perfect tones to wear during fall and winter time so I purchased my first Natasha Denona product and got the glam palette. I fell in love with the color story and can see myself reaching for this palette often. So far the eyeshadows feel so luxurious. They are pigmented and I can do a look with just one dip. They blend themselves too so doing a look isn’t too time consuming. NATASHA DENONA - Glam Eyeshadow Palette When I saw that Colourpop announced their That’s Taupe collection, I knew I had to get the eye palette because it looked very similar to my glam palette. I wanted to do a comparison so you guys can decide if you need to spend $65 for the Natasha Denona one. So far these are up to par with Colourpop quality. The eyeshadows are pigmented and they included a couple super shock formula on the palette. These are great quality for the price. #Colourpop - That’s Taupe[products]#[FiveStars] So the Colourpop palette isn’t a complete dupe to the ND one, but there are some shades that are really similar to each other. Once blended on the eye, you can hardly tell the difference. The only difference between the two is the quality. The ND palette was pigmented after one dip and blended quickly. I had to dip 3-4x in the CP pan to match the pigmentation for the ND one. It also took time blending it out. Overall, the end results are the same, but it took half the time to work with the ND palette because it was much easier to work with. If cool-toned eyeshadows aren’t you your alley, but still want it on your collection, I say stick with CP. also if you don’t mind spending the extra time building up the color and blending then save the $51 difference. If you are someone who is looking for quality then definitely go for the glam palette. This will save you time and you won’t use as much product because it’s so pigmented. Do you prefer cool tones or warm tones? Xoxo, Francesca 💋

Treating Hand Eczema EASY 👐
Eczema is a common condition that affects around 10% of the U.S. population (national eczema organization). This conditions presents itself in an uncomfortable manner, making finding the right treatments a necessity. ☆Why does it happen? can be passed down genetically exposure to allergies and irritating substances cold, dry conditions can trigger it more often ☆How to tell you have Hand Eczema: (see 2nd photo) Itchy red skin mild to severe dryness cracking sometimes cause bleeding and blisters! ☆Treatments and helpful tips Finding the right moisturizer for your hands is essential. This should be used during eczema breakouts as well as when the skin is clear. This keeps the barrier protected, seals in moisture, and helps reduce the occurrence of consistent flare ups. Also, if you know a certain product has caused the eczema to occur, you can remove the allergen from affecting your skin. For example, this can be harsh cleaners or chemicals. The National Eczema Organization recommends using thick, emollient creams to treat hand eczema. It should be a rich, oil based moisturizer or petroleum jelly. Eucerin - Eczema Relief Body Cream, Eczema-Prone Skin My husband deals with consistent hand eczema, specifically on his knuckles. He also has frequent flare ups on his knee caps. He started using this eczema cream, and with consistent use, it cleared up nicely. He now uses it on his hands and body daily to help moisturize and protect the skin from future breakouts. Be sure to use a daily protectant and remove any known allergies from your routine. Eczema is an uncomfortable skin condition to deal with, but hopefully my recommendations help soothe your itchy skin into the colder months! *2nd photo source: American Academy of Dermatology other photos are mine.

Which liquid exfoliant works for sensitive skin?
Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, going head-to-head in this post on liquid exfoliants/toners is... Paula’s Choice BHA Liquid and Ole Henriksen’s Glow2OH Dark Spot toner! These products are incredibly similar with one major difference: one is formulated with Alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) and one is formulated with a Beta-hydroxy acid (BHA-salicylic acid to be exact!). Read on to see my winner... Products: PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator #OLEHENRIKSEN - Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner[products]#[ThreeStars] Target Concerns: Paula’s Choice BHA Liquid Exfoliant: clogged pores, uneven skin tone Ole Henriksen Glow2Oh Dark Spot Toner: dark spots, fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin texture Price: Paula’s Choice: $29.50 for 4oz Ole Henriksen: $29 for 6.5oz Scent: PC: smells subtly of green tea OH: smells overly fragranced like a sweet candy Consistency: PC: completely clear and liquid, like water OH: completely clear and liquid, like water, with a cooling sensation How my sensitive skin reacts to it: PC: I have slight tingling for 30 seconds after application OH: I have burning and redness for the rest of the night after application Overall thoughts: For my sensitive skin, I can only use these products once a week or once every 2 weeks. I will say I prefer the Paula’s Choice product since it doesn’t burn my skin or cause redness after a few minutes after application, but if you are looking to combat wrinkles and fine lines, I would suggest the Ole Henriksen toner. Clogged pores or blackheads? Go with Paula’s Choice. I also can’t stand fragrance so steer clear of Ole Henriksen if you dislike fragrance! Have you tried either of these products? What are your thoughts?

Skincare Ingredients to mix and not to mix!!
RETINOL: It's one of the most revered skincare ingredients that dermatologists love to recommend. Also known as vitamin A, what makes retinol so great is that it promotes skin cell turnover, which can help improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin texture, dark spots, and acne. The only catch? Retinol can be extremely irritating. Do Mix: Retinol with moisturizing ingredients like hyaluronic acid and ceramides as well as SPF. - Make sure to moisturize; humectant ingredients like hyaluronic acid can draw and hold water molecules to the surface layers of your skin, while oil-based emollient ingredients help seal in moisture." It's also important to keep in mind that retinol can make you more sensitive to the sun. Don't Mix: Retinol with vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide, and AHA/BHA acids. -AHA and BHA acids are exfoliating, which can dry out skin and cause further irritation if your skincare routine already includes retinol. As for benzoyl peroxide and retinol, they cancel each other out. It is not recommended to use benzoyl peroxide and retinoids together as they can literally cancel each other out rendering them less effective. Finally, because vitamin C protects skin from environmental aggressors and retinol repairs and rebuilds skin, they're best used at opposite times of the day. VITAMIN C Vitamin C protects the skin from oxidative free radical damage and works best in the morning," says Dr. Marchbein. This ingredient also brightens the skin and can even lighten dark spots. Do Mix: Vitamin C with antioxidants and SPF. - When vitamin C is used with other antioxidants like vitamin E, it can boost results and efficiency. The same goes for wearing vitamin C under sunscreen. "Vitamin C serums should always be layered under sunscreen because they compliment one another and will protect skin against UV damage," explains Dr. Marchbein. Don't Mix: Vitamin C with retinol. - In contrast to vitamin C, retinol and retinoids build collagen and help repair the skin, so they're best used overnight. Since vitamin C thrives in the daytime, it's best to keep these ingredients separate from each other because they have such different functions. AHA/BHA ACIDS Salicylic, glycolic, and lactic acids are all effective exfoliants that can improve skin texture, tone, and in the case of SA, treat acne. That being said, all three of these acids can dehydrate and irritate skin. The bottom line: When using products with AHA or BHA acids, follow up with a hydrating product. Do Mix: AHA/BHA acids with moisturizing ingredients and SPF. Moisturizing after applying AHA and BHA is extremely important so as to limit irritation. Look for ceramides, petrolatum, hyaluronic acid, and glycerin to hydrate and soothe skin," says Dr. Marchbein. Using a product that combines multiple low-level AHA and BHA acids can be an extremely effective way to exfoliate and unclog pores. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.instyle.com/beauty/mixing-skincare-ingredients%3famp=true

OMG 😱 This Setting Spray is Amazing
I am a setting sprays collector. I cannot say it works better than setting powders. More of a reason is that I really enjoy the whole experience of setting my face and whole makeup. I kinda feel like I am wearing a perfume like what they did in old movies. Back to the topic, I have tried different setting sprays in market from drugstore to high-end. Everything mainly distinguish a good spray is the nozzle. I know product formula and ingredients could be mainly the core advantage of a product, but as for setting sprays, the nozzle is the part that controls the mist for. Some of them feels like it spits at you with all these large droplets on your face and hair. And it just ruins your whole makeup. After trying different brands and products, Make Up Forever has the best nozzle and mist out of all the setting sprays in my collection. Surprisingly my top 2 favorite setting sprays are all from MUF. MAKE UP FOR EVER - Light Velvet Air Shine-Control Refreshing Spray It has the best applicator. The mist is very dewy and feels like a cloud. The formula on this is incredible. This is something that I am looking for when I want my makeup to be locked in tight through out the day. And especially when I am wearing a mask for a long time, it leaves my mask clean! At the same time, it also leaves the skin looks a little wet.You can also use this to damp your beauty blender before applying foundations to make it stay longer. Or on your brushes for eyeshadow to make the pigment more intense. MAKE UP FOR EVER - Mist & Fix Hydrating Setting Spray This setting spray, honestly, is a game-changer for me. This one I use it more of a skincare. This moisturized version feels so light and comfortable. It is not as strong as the other one in terms of setting makeup in place. This one makes my skin looks incredibly healthy all day long and it never greasy. It is a really stable product in my routine now. It is also a good on-the-go product for me to reach for when I feel like my skin needs a little bit of refresh in the middle of the day since I know that this spray is not going to add any sort of oiliness. It feels like adding more plump to my skin. It does a great job at refresh and hydrate my skin without messing it up. Both are fabulous products! Highly recommended
