Shelfie vs Reality 🪞🤳🤔
Happy Presidents Day!! I was playing around trying to take my first ever shelfie and was struck by two things: 1) styling a shelfie is HARD!!! I am so impressed with the gorgeous, inspirational pictures you all take where a boring medicine cabinet seemingly effortlessly highlights all your best products. I think I have a ways to go. 2) this is soooooo not what my medicine cabinet looks like every day!! I took a step back once the cabinet was full of all my beautiful skincare and just laughed at how far it is from normal. Instead, all my goodies are hidden away in a cabinet. So I restored my shelves to their usual glory to avoid my husbands confusion about where on earth his toothbrush went and thought I’d share our reality. ➡️ swipe to see what the cabinet really looks like around here 🤪 Are there any products in here you want me to review? Hair Care Essentials!
Hi Everyone! So I wanted to make a post on my hair care routine on the days that I do wash my hair because it has helped my hair so much as opposed to my old routine which was the customized shampoo and conditioner that either dried out my hair or my scalp or both. This is such an important time of the year to make sure our hair gets all the right care it needs because the air is so dry. So... let’s begin! First, before I get into the shower I use my Wet brush - Original Detangler to get out all the loose hairs so I don’t have as much of an issue in the shower. Next, in the shower I rinse my hair with just water and then start my shampoo process. I use a few finger globs of the Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo and rub it in with my fingers first. Then before I rinse it out I use the Briogeo - Scalp Revival Stimulating Therapy Massager to better massage it in my hair. I love it because it really gets the shampoo into my scalp and the shampoo foams so nicely and feels wonderful in my hair. After the shampoo and massager, I rinse it out and next I use the Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Peppermint Oil Cooling Jelly Conditioner which is great with everything combined but the one downside is it doesn’t feel like it’s actually conditioning my hair. You really have to brush it with a comb in the shower in order to spread it all through your hair. But hey, it does the job. Rub that in for about a minute and rinse out. When I get out of the shower, I use (second picture) this microfiber hair towel to soak up all the water fast. I couldn’t find it as a product on this site but I got it on amazon for cheap and it does wonders to the drying process of my hair. I would say it’s just as good as the fancier hair towels. Once my hair gets a little dryer but still damp, I part my hair so my scalp is shower in the areas I get dandruff the most and add a few drops of the Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Serum right onto the skin and massage it in with my fingers. Next I spray the dpHUE - Apple Cider Vinegar Leave-in Hair Therapy onto my hair generously and brush it through again with my wet brush. After that’s all said and done, I put my hair into a braid and let it air dry. Right now it’s in the process of drying but later I will add the final look to the post. I’m very excited about this new hair care routine and I think it’s doing wonders to my hair and scalp! ✨
Haircare 1 • Christopher Robin Sea Salt Scrub
First video of product review in my life, bare with me. Pros: •if you want a real good cleanse •don’t need a lot •easy to use Cons: •may not be ideal if you have super dry scalp (like me). So use hair masks/oils/conditioners •I have dandruffs and sometimes itchy scalp problem, this doesn’t help I love a good cleanse so I do enjoy this product. I’d suggest using this once a week or once every two weeks, depends on how much you wash your hair. Christophe Robin - Cleansing Purifying Scrub With Sea Salt

My hair is so happy!
OLAPLEX - No. 3 Hair Perfector Are you even surprised this stuff works? So many folks use it, it seems like! I had a ex-roommate that turned me on to this product because she’s had eczema and other skin/ hair/ nail issues where dry environments haven’t helped either, and I saw visible improvements to her hair’s ends. So, she was able to grow her hair out successfully! I wanted to share for my friends who maybe have thin, fine hair. Check out the results after my second use! I hadn’t even brushed my hair out yet after showering. For someone who has very fine hair, I’m super happy with how my hair feels and looks. I feel way more confident that I can grow my hair out even longer than it’s usual length. Woohoo!

Scrub Your Scalp Clean
This Root Energizing Rosemary Scalp Scrub by @aromatica is such a soothing scrub cleanser for your scalp. With the Dead Sea salts, it helps exfoliate the skin while removing waste accumulated in pores. Both me and my son love the light rosemary scent and the way the scrub tingles when we use it. It’s just a light tingle upon scrubbing application. It’s super easy to rinse out and really makes the skin feel refreshed and soothing. We both suffer from eczema and dandruff in our family and it’s really hard to find great products that work well for our skin AND not irritate it. This scalp scrub is definitely worth a 5 ⭐️ rating for sure. Swipe to see the lovely texture of the product in my photos too. . AROMATICA - Rosemary Scalp Scrub

Recent Scalp Treatments
My scalp is always dry and itchy, even in spring and summer! I recently purchased and tried two scalp treatments to try. Because my hair is fine and a bit thin, I chose ones that are pre shampoo treatments to wash out. I hate the feeling of making my hair more greasy than it needs to be with leave-in treatments. First, I tried the Yes To Tea Tree Soothing Scalp Treatment that I got at target for about $10. The comb applicator seemed nice, but was actually a bit difficult to run through my hair. The Pacifica Scalp Love serum smelled great and felt nice massaging it into my scalp. I got this for about $10 at Ulta (it’s also at Target) and ultimately it’s my favorite of the two. I really wanted to love the Yes To Tea Tree Scalp Treatment, but overall the Pacifica Serum was easier to apply and use. Got a favorite scalp treatment? Let me know!! 😁💆♀️

How I heal my scalp each season 💕
I have a super sensitive scalp—if I use the wrong product, sweat too much during a workout, or even just SLEEP ON MY HEAD WRONG....I get dandruff. It started a couple of years ago and this is my routine that has worked to keep my itchy, flaky scalp normalized! SCALP SHAMPOO. Yes. About twice a month, I have a shampoo I only use on my scalp. It’s a tea tree formula shampoo which can be very drying so I only use it on my scalp, not the rest of my hair. Don’t come for me LOL. My favorite is from Paul Mitchell (PAUL MITCHELL - Tea Tree Special Shampoo ) and I love it so much!! It even helps clear up acne on my hairline. I always get the jumbo sizes when they’re half off (so 30+ ounces for $15!!!) I highly recommend trying it out! I also use the Briogeo silicone scalp scrubber to really massage it into my scalp. TREATMENT. Every other wash, I use the Briogeo scalp treatment oil Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Tea Tree Scalp Treatment Serum on my sensitive scalp areas. It doesn’t contain a lot of tea tree oil, so it doesn’t dry out my scalp. It actually soothes it a lot. I use the scalp scrubber with this also to disperse it better around my head. It’s a bit pricey, but I think it’s totally worth it if you have an itchy scalp. BONUS: TOOL. As mentioned above, I feel like the Briogeo silicone scalp massager Briogeo - Scalp Revival Stimulating Therapy Massager has made a huge difference in my scalp health! Not only does it help massage product around, it helps stimulate hair growth—yes, I’ve noticed my hair has been growing SO fast (like 7 inches in 6 months 😱) and I love it. I also love that it’s silicone so it doesn’t scratch or have any chance of hurting my scalp. I got mine at Anthropologie for $5 but I think it retails for $20. GET ONE! It doesn’t have to be Briogeo’s, but...get one. What are your scalp favorites?! #CheriePartner

How to treat dry scalp for medium hair? My answer is...
Briogeo - Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Micro-exfoliating Scalp Scrub Shampoo This is rather worth it and in my own opinion it is awesome for my head. I have medium, blond, fine, wavy hair and dry scalp, which requires a lot of conditioner or hair mask. So, this product is great for a scalp treatment and to get all of the products out. I use it on mine once a week or as needed. I have dry scalp, so if I purposely waited a few days to let my scalp get greasy to put this stuff through the paces. I "scrubbed up" twice and liked the cooling sensation it had on my scalp. The texture is jelly-like and fun to shower with. It wasn't too abrasive, but it took a bit of work to rinse all the product out of my fine, wavy hair. It leave my hair so soft and smooth and I haven't had any dandruff since I started using it. I love it to cool my scalp when and if it gets a little dry and flaky. I also use the charcoal oil from this like to treat my scalp after. Sometimes I use them together. My usage:Step1 Apply 1-2 walnut sized amounts to wet hair. Step 2 Vigorously message into the scalp, through to the ends of the hair. Step 3 Rinse and repeat,if necessary. Step 4 Follow up with your conditioner or other treatment. This shampoo smells amazing. Its minty and amazing. I also noticed a slight medicinal odor along with the mint chocolate fragrance. After rinsing, my scalp felt refreshed. I took a point off for the medicinal smell, thesomewhat difficult process of rinsing out all the scrub, and the consistency of the scrub. However, my hair and scalp feel clean and refreshed, and helped calm the flakiness of my scalp better than any product and it doesn't have the weird smells that many dandruff products have. It leaves my hair smelling great and my scalp in great condition.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
