Battle of the Sunscreens!
☀️ I have sensitive combination skin that is acne-prone so I’ve used a LOT of sunscreens trying to find the perfect one. These are just some of my experiences ranked from worst to best. I always apply sunscreen after my moisturizer in the AM and then reapply during the day. ☀️4. Umbra Tinte by Drunk Elephant $36 for 2oz and SPF 30 This is a tinted and physical broad spectrum sunscreen for UVA and UVB protection. It has lots of antioxidants and has Marula oil in classic DE fashion for moisture. It is free of essential oils and fragrance. Thoughts? Meh. This is not it for me. I like a smooth finish and this in the past has made my skin feel very sticky to the touch. It has a gentle scent that isn’t distracting that I actually enjoy but it made me look really shiny and gross. That being said, my best friend loves this so I will be giving it another chance soon which I think is important to do because you may find you change your mind! It really is up to your preference but I’ve tried others that I’ve fallen for on the first try and this was definitely not that. ☀️3. Mineral Matte Screen by Supergoop $38 for 1.5 oz and SPF 40 This is a 100% mineral screen with a matte finish for all skin types. It also claims to minimize the look of pores and controls shine. The brand recently redesigned the formula to make it reef-safe! Thoughts? With this formula, I struggle to get an even look sometimes without really blending but I love how it feels! It’s so soft on the skin and gives almost a light coverage like a light foundation which I really enjoy. Because of this, I find it helps when I have any redness or breakouts too. I’d be curious to try the new formula and see how it compares but I do reach for this regularly. ☀️2. Youth Extending Hydrating Fluid by Paula’s Choice $33 for 2oz and SPF 50 This is a water-light formula with antioxidants and broad-spectrum sun protection. It also fights environmental stressors. This is a chemical screen meaning that it converts the rays into heat rather than a physical screen which deflects them. This can be sensitizing for some people but I haven’t had an issue with this. Thoughts? I love this one! It’s super lightweight and applies gorgeously almost like a light moisturizer on top. I will purchase this at some point in the full size. I think it’ll be great for summer because of this lightness. It isn’t sticky and doesn’t leave a white cast. Love it! ☀️1. Centella Green Level Unscented Sunscreen by Purito $15.90 for 2oz and SPF 50 This is safe for all skin types, essential oil free and is broad spectrum. It’s reef safe and calming for the skin too! Thoughts? YES. This is my favorite sunscreen of all time. I can’t believe this isn’t talked about more. Truly. It goes on like a moisturizer, isn’t sticky, makes skin feel smooth and doesn’t leave a white cast. This is my favorite. Hands down. Easy to reapply too! Definitely a repurchase. I like it but .....
Supergoop! - 100% Mineral Smooth & Poreless Matte Screen SPF 40 I like it but for me it is very drying, I have combination skin but I am drier than oily, its application is easy, it blends very well, it does not leave white but I do not like it! I'M LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT SUN PROTECTOR FOR MY SKIN
Just an update... I’m trying to restore the pH of my skin & repair the moisture barrier bc my skin had been overcompensating oil for a while. Then it became very dry, uncomfortable & tight. Currently ~ *NO ACTIVES, NO TOPICALS, NO ACCUTANE* 1) 🌞💧I cleanse with Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Hydrating Cleanser Creamy Formula. (Day & Night) Great cleanser, it’s pH balanced! It’s done a great job balancing my skin. After cleansing, my skin feels comfortable. 5/5 2) I use a Aloe & Green Tea toner in the day after cleansing, leaves my skin hydrated👍🏼 Ingredients: Aloe & 🌹 Water Hydrosol, Glycerin, DL Panthenol, Aldenine PBC & Green Tea Extract 🍵 3) Following the toner, I use PAULA'S CHOICE - Water-Infusing Electrolyte Moisturizer Ingredients: Glycerin, Squalane (emollient), Ceramide EOP (skin-replenishing), Ceramide AP (skin-replenishing), Ceramide NP & Niacinamide This product leaves my skin dewey, soft & hydrated👌🏼 4) ☀️ Sunscreen: Supergoop! - 100% Mineral Smooth & Poreless Matte Screen SPF 40 My face usually itches by the end of the day when using this. Any recommendations for mineral sunscreen with good good ingredients are accepted 😇 🌚 At night I cleanse & I’ve been following up with a mask that I leave on overnight. Manuka Honey & Aloe Gel Mask (nightly) 🍯

Battle of the sunscreens ☀️🧴
Ever since the purito ‘scandal’ I went into a sunscreen shopping spree and tried a few. PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ - I loved this sunscreen, it was moisturizing, didn’t leave my face oily or with a white cast and offered supposedly SPF 50 protection. Some lab results tested it and it came back at around SPF 19 and another test came back at SPF 30ish. I obviously no longer count on this sunscreen as my primary sunscreen but when working from home and far from windows I wear it and try to reapply it, not throwing it away until it’s finished! It’s an affordable physical sunscreen. Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Sunscreen SPF 50 - this sunscreen is a chemical sunscreen. I learned after I bought it that one of the ingredients is not good for the coral reefs so never buying again. It burns, leaves my face oily and has a strong scent that I don’t like. As a chemical sunscreen it doesn’t leave a white cast. ETUDE - Sunprise Mild Airy Finish Sun Milk SPF 50+ PA+++ - I bought this off of a recommendation for a substitution for the purito one. It’s very light and absorbs easily but it does leave a white cast which lead me to buy the next one. Australian Gold - Botanical Tinted Face Sunscreen SPF 50 - this sunscreen is awesome. I never wear makeup so I was nervous I’d look weird/different with a tinted sunscreen but that’s not the case. The color is to offset the white cast that is hard to not have with a mineral sunscreen. It’s pretty affordable at $10 for 3oz. Though I’ve tried multiple sunscreens I’m not done experimenting and trying new ones, just waiting to use up these four first. I go through sunscreens pretty fast though, with using them everyday and having to reapply once or twice. Let me know what your experience with these sunscreens has been and if you have any recommendations for physical sunscreens that don’t leave a white cast and don’t leave your face oily!
a truly unseen sunscreen! 🌞👀
I know a ton of people are searching for a new sunscreen after the PuritoPURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ one has been recalled, and I was lucky enough to test out the BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 ($15.99 USD) recently. as an esthetician, my biggest and #1 recommendation to combat anti-aging is RELIGIOUS use of sunscreen as early as you can start. 🧖♀️for reference, my skin type is: combo (oily/dehydrated), formerly acneic, prone to hyperpigmentation, light/medium skintone 🧴FORMULA: as seen in the photo, the Black Girl sunscreen is fairly thick and a little goes a long way. it’s not viscous by any means and is a thicker, creamier formula that goes on like a lotion. 👃🏼SCENT: this sunscreen has a typical sunscreen aroma, which is fairly strong and lingers throughout the day. if you’re sensitive to the smell of sunscreen, I wouldn’t recommend because the scent was strong, especially with a mask on. ⏱WEAR: my skin is naturally oily/dehydrated, so when I first put this on I was a little ~shook~ that it immediately made me so dewy and was scared that it would make me look like a frying pan. it did NOT, however, turn me into a greaseball or get too shiny throughout the day and gave me just enough for a glass skin, moisturized look. I don’t have a deeper complexion, which this sunscreen is known for, so I couldn’t attest to whether it gave me a strong white cast but I do experience a slight white cast with my Australian Gold - Botanical Tinted Face Sunscreen SPF 50 sunscreen which is tinted and a lot thicker, as seen above. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ overall, I would give this sunscreen 5/5 stars! I would definitely purchase it again even though I have oily/dehydrated skin. if you have dry, normal/combo skin, I think this would be AMAZING for you. if you have oily skin, I would test it out a bit if possible, because it may feel a bit heavy on your skin, but is a great option for a hydrating, winter sunscreen.

Easy Breezy Minimalistic Look ✨
You know your skin is happy & healthy when no filter is needed! 𝒩𝑜 𝒻𝒾𝓁𝓉𝑒𝓇, 𝓃𝑜 𝑒𝒹𝒾𝓉𝒾𝓃𝑔 - just a couple quick iPhone portrait shots. I’m not a huge selfie kind of gal; I prefer to stay behind the camera but I felt put together for a change! I have minimal makeup on - this is an easy breezy routine that will embrace your natural skin. And YES, I know my eyebrows are way overdue for a waxing, but as someone with an autoimmune illness, my health comes first. 💞 𝒲𝒽𝒶𝓉 𝐼 𝒰𝓈𝑒𝒹 I double cleanse at night so in the morning, I go in with something super gentle to just refresh my skin and remove oil from my skin. So today I used Drunk Elephant’s E-Rase Milki and then 4-5 spritz of the new Sweet B mist. Then I mixed Protini & D-Bronzi, and applied Umbra Tinte for SPF. My skin was looking extra glowy today so to tone it down and reduce the appearance of my pores, I lightly went over with Girlactik’s Luminous Face Powder in Light with a big, fluffy powder brush. Then I used KVD Vegan Beauty’s Cake Pencil in Trooper & Thrive Causemetics’ Liquid Lash Extensions mascara. For the lips, I used Jeffree Star’s Velvet Trap in Celebrity Skin with Bite Beauty’s Yaysayer Plumping Lip Gloss in Cider Donut! ✨ DRUNK ELEPHANT - E-Rase Milki Micellar Water DRUNK ELEPHANT - D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops DRUNK ELEPHANT - Sweet Biome Fermented Sake Hydrating Spray DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Tinte Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 girlactik - Luminous Face Powder KVD VEGAN BEAUTY - Cake Pencil Eyeliner thrive causemetics - Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara™ JEFFREE STAR COSMETICS - Velvet Trap Lipstick BITE - Yaysayer Plumping Lip Gloss

I’ve been using these two for about a week now but I do find myself using the Smooth and Poreless 100% Mineral Matte Screen especially when I have to be somewhere since it doubles as a primer! Well, they both do actually. 😆 . I super love the texture and finish of these two! It’s super spreadable so a dime-size would suffice and it glides on so smoothly so it isn’t a problem. My skin didn’t get any irritation and it didn’t feel heavy at all. . They both have that sunscreen scent but it’s subtle and it goes away after a while but it’s not too overwhelming. . So here’s my Supergoop! Sunscreen Comparison 💙💛 . 💙 Smooth and Poreless 100% Mineral Matte Screen ➿Mineral SPF ➿SPF40 ➿Blendable universal tint ➿Can be used alone or as a primer under makeup ➿Natural Matte finish (if that makes sense) ➿Water resistant up to 40 minutes ➿Lightweight creamy texture ➿Protects skin from blue light ➿Contains Zinc Oxide 17% & Titanium Dioxide 0.7% ➿More gentle and less likely to cause irritation ➿Ideal for sensitive and acne-prone skin ➿Php 2,240.00 on Sephora PH . 💛Unseen Sunscreen ➿Chemical SPF ➿SPF40 ➿Clear / Invisible ➿Can be used alone or as a primer under makeup ➿Velvety matte finish ➿Water resistant up to 40 minutes ➿It has that silocone-y texture ➿Protects skin from blue light ➿Contains Avobenzone and Homosalate ➿It absorbs UV light so our skin doesn’t ➿Ideal for everyday use and physical activities because it lets the pores breathe and sweat ➿Php 1,835.00 on Sephora PH . They’re quite pricey so I don’t use them everyday (because I wanna save it for special days) - plus, I have 4 other sunscreen opened at the moment that I’d like to empty first. But I couldn’t resist not applying these on some regular days. 😅 Planning to do a texture comparison on all 6 sunscreen products soon!!

Apply this after serums and before make up :) ☀️ This is retailed at $29 CAD and worth the money! LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios 50 Mineral Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid SPF 50

YoOoO what the f🤮ckkk
SKINCEUTICALS - Physical Fusion Uv Defense SPF 50 I love skinceuticals. I have their Vitamin C serum and have had a wonderful experience with it so far. But this... oh my lord. Before you ask, no, it is not expired. I have normal/sensitive skin, and used just a few products (cleanser, toner (YTTP) and light moisturizer before this. I have never had pilling problems with the moisturizer, so I don’t think think it’s a problem with the layers under it. Honestly, I don’t know what the problem is. The texture is disgusting and super liquid-y. Hard to blend it before it leaks off your face 🥴 when I tried to blend it, it started pilling like C R A Z Y. After I managed to dust off my face, I got told by my friend that I “forgot to blend in my foundation” around my forehead. FML. Because this is supposed to act like a light tint and “enhance your skin tone” (which shade????) it managed to make my “no makeup just spf” skin a nightmare. Thanks, guys. I hate it

Battle of the sunscreens 🥊
Skin type: combination, acne-prone. Skin concern: avoid sun damage. As I said in another review, I love samples/minis because they give me a chance to try a product before buying the full size. Sunscreens are somewhat complicated. We should look for sunscreens with broad spectrum coverage (UVB/UVA) and an SPF of 30 or higher and always reapply it every 2 hours. You should also be aware of the ingredients that help to deal with specific concerns (acne, fine lines...). This can be tricky, if you are prone to breakouts or have sensitive skin. So you should try sunscreens until you find the best for you Supergoop! - Glowscreen Sunscreen SPF 40 Key ingredients: avobenzone 3%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 10%. Texture: liquid. Scent: unscented. Price: $36 for 1.7 oz. Claims: a makeup gripping primer that leaves a dewy, glowy finish, with sun protection and hydration in the mix. Thoughts: I really like the healthy glow it gives, it is not greasy and the skin feels very soft. It’s ideal for when you don’t want to put makeup. This is definitely my favorite and I would buy the full size. Supergoop! - Smooth & Poreless Mineral Sunscreen Key ingredients: titanium dioxide 0.7%, zinc oxide 17%. Texture: lightweight lotion. Scent: unscented. Price: $38 for 1.5 oz. Claims: 100% mineral sunscreen (reef safe) that helps leave skin looking mattified and poreless. Thoughts: Is non greasy, leaves skin soft and matte without drying it, it goes on smooth as silk. Very lightweight with a touch of color. Dr. Loretta - Urban Antioxidant Sunscreen SPF 40 Key ingredients: homosalate 8%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 5%, zinc oxide 8%, Lipochroman®. Texture: cream. Scent: sunscreen 🤷🏻♀️🤔 Price: $50 for 1.7 oz. Claims: Protects the skin from external factors responsible for more than 85% of skin aging (pollution, light, climate and irritants). Contains Lipochroman® that provides antioxidant protection. Thoughts: I like to use it when I am at home or when I take classes online since it protects from the Blue Light emitted by electronic devices. It doesn't leave a white cast behind and leaves a lovely glow. Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Key ingredients: avobenzone 3%, homosalate 8%, octisalate 5%, octocrylene 4%. Texture: silky. Scent: unscented. Price: $34 for 1.7 oz. Claims: A totally invisible, weightless, scentless sunscreen that leaves a velvety finish. They change the formula and now is reef-safe (octinoxate free). Thoughts: Leaves skin soft, without feeling greasy, blur pores and doesn’t leave white cast. I really like the silky feeling it leaves. VOLITION - Prismatic Luminizing Shield SPF 50 Key ingredients: Titanium dioxide 3.5%, zinc oxide 19.6%, octinoxate 7.5%. Texture: liquid. Scent: unscented. Price: $35 for 1 oz. Claims: a lightweight, fluid sunscreen that provides broad spectrum SPF and perfects skin with a flawless soft luminescence. The anti-sunscreen for the sunscreen haters. It’s never greasy, smelly or thick. It’s daily protection you'll actually want to wear. Thoughts: I love that it leaves me subtle glow, it doesn't leave white cast and doesn't feel sticky.

My Favorite Sunscreen ☀️
I have combination skin that is sensitive and acne-prone. I’m also someone who doesn’t like anything with a sticky feeling on my face! 🌱This is the Centella Green Level Unscented Sunscreen and it is gorgeous. ✨First of all, it passes the Not Sticky test and doesn’t leave a white cast at all. It’s basically another hydrating moisturizer for your face in the way it applies and interacts with the skin. For this reason, reapplying doesn’t feel gross or heavy and this is one of the few sunscreens I actually enjoy reapplying throughout the day which is so important! ✨This has Hyaluronic Acid in it as well as Centella to enhance the skin barrier which provides protection from ultraviolet rays and any external stressors. It also avoids things like fragrance and essential oils so it is good for sensitive skin. ✨This is $16 for 2 oz which in my opinion is great for what you’re getting. What’s your favorite sunscreen? 🌞

I’m a sunscreen user now!!!!
PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ I have combo/sensitive skin. I’m not going to lie, before my skincare Instagram, I wasn’t an avid spf user but now I am. This purchase was totally influenced by insta but I’m so glad because it’s not your typical sunscreen!! There’s no white cast, no smell, rubs in like lotion. It’s just so perfect and lightweight and has never broken me out.
