Protecting My Acne Prone Skin☀️💦
EDIT- The Purito sunscreen is currently being evaluated due to recent studies that it is only SPF 19. I’m currently using Beet Shield by Krave and recommend that instead. 💦 I have sensitive combination skin and my main concern that I deal with is hormonal breakouts which when not treated correctly are cystic, red and painful. 💦Currently my skin is recovering beautifully from the usual hormonal breakout around my cheek area. I still have some leftover hyperpigmentation from it but I’m actively treating that and seeing RESULTS with this routine, especially this Vitamin C oil which I also use to protect my skin from Boston’s harsh pollution. ✨Protini! This is my favorite moisturizer for my skin. It hydrates, doesn’t feel sticky and plays well with other products and make-up. I discovered this through Drunk Elephant and other skincare bloggers and have been in love ever since. Yes there are cheaper moisturizers out there but this plumps skin so gorgeously I don’t want to look for another. I use this after cleansing my skin and on occasion I’ll add a Hyaluronic acid serum before this. Pro tip- apply hydrating serums and then moisturizers to your face in that order WHILE your skin is still wet to prevent transepidermal water loss from happening to your skin! I’ve been using this for over a year and adore it. ✨Leah Rose + Glow Oil! This is the most stunning facial oil I’ve ever found and it’s made by a small and newer business. My favorite things about this are the squalane for hydration and vitamin C for after my acne to get rid of that redness. It’s also a very brightening ingredient too. I love using an oil after moisturizer because it locks everything in and gives that extra boost of hydration. I’ve been using this for about half a year and will definitely be repurchasing. ✨Centella Green Level Unscented Sunscreen! This is a new sunscreen for me but regardless I believe SPF is THE SINGLE most important item to use to protect your skin from sun damage. This makes the skin feel smooth, is SPF 50 and doesn’t leave a white cast. I just got this this week and am already in love. It plays well with other products and of course protects you from damaging rays. Pro tip- your skin can be damaged by the sun through windows so even though we’re mostly stuck inside, it’s important to keep this in your skincare routine to prevent damage. Sunscreen also helps with my skin redness and for my acne! 💦This routine is one I fully stand by and discovered through other bloggers and just trial and error using a lot of products and figuring out the best way to lock in moisture for my skin. I love it and don’t plan on changing it up any time soon! What’s your favorite routine to protect your skin? DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream

a truly unseen sunscreen! 🌞👀
I know a ton of people are searching for a new sunscreen after the PuritoPURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ one has been recalled, and I was lucky enough to test out the BLACK GIRL SUNSCREEN - Black Girl Sunscreen SPF 30 ($15.99 USD) recently. as an esthetician, my biggest and #1 recommendation to combat anti-aging is RELIGIOUS use of sunscreen as early as you can start. 🧖♀️for reference, my skin type is: combo (oily/dehydrated), formerly acneic, prone to hyperpigmentation, light/medium skintone 🧴FORMULA: as seen in the photo, the Black Girl sunscreen is fairly thick and a little goes a long way. it’s not viscous by any means and is a thicker, creamier formula that goes on like a lotion. 👃🏼SCENT: this sunscreen has a typical sunscreen aroma, which is fairly strong and lingers throughout the day. if you’re sensitive to the smell of sunscreen, I wouldn’t recommend because the scent was strong, especially with a mask on. ⏱WEAR: my skin is naturally oily/dehydrated, so when I first put this on I was a little ~shook~ that it immediately made me so dewy and was scared that it would make me look like a frying pan. it did NOT, however, turn me into a greaseball or get too shiny throughout the day and gave me just enough for a glass skin, moisturized look. I don’t have a deeper complexion, which this sunscreen is known for, so I couldn’t attest to whether it gave me a strong white cast but I do experience a slight white cast with my Australian Gold - Botanical Tinted Face Sunscreen SPF 50 sunscreen which is tinted and a lot thicker, as seen above. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ overall, I would give this sunscreen 5/5 stars! I would definitely purchase it again even though I have oily/dehydrated skin. if you have dry, normal/combo skin, I think this would be AMAZING for you. if you have oily skin, I would test it out a bit if possible, because it may feel a bit heavy on your skin, but is a great option for a hydrating, winter sunscreen.
My Normal/Dry Skin Routine
Lord I should update you guys on my skincare routine. Cleanser: I use CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin and to be honest it’s actually really nice :). At first in my previous post I gave it a bad review, but it’s pretty nice and I’ve seen less acne. Toner: For toner I use peach slices - Snail Rescue Blemish Busting Toner and it’s soooo hydrating I was actually shocked- it doesn’t contain any alcohol (thank goodness), so my face doesn’t burn. Treatment: I use COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence and this is also very hydrating too I really do love it. Just with this product it makes my face seem like I put everything on it already. Moisturizer:I use CeraVe - Healing Ointment for my moisturizer and it makes me skin feel so smoothhhhhh-like I literally look like a glazed donut and I love it. Sunscreen: For sunscreen I use PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ which is really good and it doesn’t leave a white cast..but the problem is that I heard the spf is actually 15+ and not 50+. I will wait till I hear more stuff about it but I’m just going to finish it up since I’m at the end. :)))))

good for oily skin? 🍡
thisDRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream , probably the most well-known one from them, is actually the first moisturizer i’ve owned. there’s a few misconceptions about this moisturizer that i’ve been wanting to clear up so let’s get right into it ~ use- the protini polypeptide cream moisturizer is known for being pretty moisturizing and in turn thick. the moisturizer is creamy but smooth and has a nice finish. after applying it, your face does feel very moisturized. it’s almost impossible to apply this and feel tight skin. the moisturizer smells very clean as well. it doesn’t smell there is any added fragrance, a natural smell. the moisturizer is still pretty glossy so it isn’t matte looking or too stiff. to be precise, it isn’t a cream but a creme. ingredients- as the name implies, this creme does have many polypeptide proteins that are great for repairing and maintain your skin. proteins are great for skin’s tone, texture, and firmness especially. the key ingredients within this creme are the 7 polypeptides it contains are well as some goodie ingredients. one of those goodie ingredients is tocopherol which is an antioxidant aka pure vitamin E. the most important polypeptide within the ingredient list is palmitoyl tetrapeptide-7 which is known for reducing the signal that causes inflammation within the skin. of course, this creme contains glycerin the #1 moisturizing agent within most moisturizers. there are surprisingly many ingredients within this moisturizer so it isn’t really basic. knowing it’s higher price point, you do get what you pay for. the only thing i can say is that it does contain cetearyl alcohol which has an irritancy level of 1 comedogenicity of 2, so it isn’t something to really worry about per-say. it definitely doesn’t make the formula any more drying or irritating; it’s used to make the consistency more nicer to the touch. skintype- this is what i wanted to clear up actually. this creme, being known for it’s thick and moisturizing nature, is feared by most oily-skin types. i know this because i was one of them! i got this creme as a gift from sephora a while ago and just left it sitting there because i thought it was making my skin greasier. in reality, i’ve been using this these past 2 months as a recommendation from my derm to use something more moisturizing. i can’t explain how nice it’s made my skin so moisturized and less oily. another thing is that i have sensitive skin and i’ve had no issues with this creme. after applying it, it feels extremely refreshing and clean and doesn’t feel irritating at all. though it does have many ingredients, the creme itself feels basic and safe to use. especially now since it’s winter, dry skin types can really benefit from the thicker formula. during winter, it’s always best to switch to more moisturizing ingredients (even with oily/combo skin) to make sure your skin isn’t getting dried out by the cold weather. •*don’t hesitate to leave comments and questions! tell me what you think! *•
My first experience with Drunk Elephant
I was very excited to pick up these DE Samples. The brand has such a cult following so I have always been curious if it lives up to the hype. Since you only get a couple uses from sample packets I’m not going to rate these just yet, but I’ll give my take on how I liked them DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum This product is packed with acids - several AHAs as well as salicylic. It has a thin gel-like texture and tingled only the tiniest bit on application - really barely at all. It sunk in very quickly and sat nicely under my moisturizer. When I woke up the next morning my face looked brighter and I imagine that with continued use, this product would help with my pores and skin tone as well. Overall, I really liked it and would definitely consider using this product in the future! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream This cream is all about peptides and I had high hopes for it. The texture is like a very thick gel...too thin for me to say it’s a cream texture but maybe right in the middle of gel and cream. On application, this felt very heavy on my face as though it’s barely sinking in. It also feels like it’s blocking my oil from sinking in on top. When I woke up after using overnight, my face seemed dry. Overall, protini is just not for me! Just a reminder of why samples are so great and that not all products work for everyone. OVERALL 🐘 IMPRESSIONS: with its cute packaging, I completely understand why people love DE. And after my own experience, I am sure I could find several products from them that I like, but would never buy a full size without trying first (unlike YTTP and Biossance who I basically trust blind after all my good experiences with them). In general, I think I’d do better with DE serums and treatments rather than moisturizers.

Underrated Holy Grail Hydrators 💧
I have combination skin that is super sensitive on my face and body. I find I get regular dryness on my lips, body and cheeks so hydrating my skin is really important for me, especially now that I’m back working and showering twice a day because of it. Here are my favorites that are super underrated! ☀️ Brazilian Kiss by Sol de Janeiro $18 for .21 oz I found this when I was still using Lippe by DE and this stuck out because it’s the same price but has twice the amount of product. I purchased it to try it out and it’s been my favorite ever since. This is basically like a big gorgeous chapstick. The smell reminds me of sugar cookies, probably because among lots of hydrating oils it also contains butter. I’ve gone through 3-4 of these already and I’m not looking back! 🌹 Rose + Glow by Leah Skin ~$32 for 1 oz This oil every time I use it reminds me why it’s so great. Not only do I see quick results in terms of fading my red acne marks on my face but overall it hydrates gorgeously and brightens my skin. I also love supporting small businesses and this brand knows what they’re doing. Some key ingredients are squalane, Vitamin C and oils. This is a stable form of Vitamin C that can be mixed with other forms of that vitamin and even retinol. I also adore squalane for its anti-aging and oil control properties and for helping eczema and acne. The texture of this is a little thick but doesn’t feel that way on the skin at all. It’s smooth on application and goes on clear. *won in a giveaway by a skincare blogger 💕Resurrection Aromatique Hand Balm by Aēsop $30 for 2.6 oz This is the best hand lotion EVER. Nothing makes my skin feel as soft and smell as gorgeously of citrus. Definitely holy grail status. Key ingredients here are Mandarin Rind, Rosemary Leaf, Cedar Atlas. This doesn’t feel greasy at all and absorbs quickly while still maintaining hand hydration. This comes in two sizes, 2.6 and a massive 17 oz for the big big fans who just can’t get enough. I can definitely see why! 💦 Lots of washing means lots of hydration. How do you keep your skin moisturized? Review My Nighttime Routine 🌙
✨ I have sensitive combination skin that is acne-prone and I also get hormonal breakouts. My skin doesn’t love fragrance and also really benefits from consistency. 🍉At night, I double cleanse to remove make-up, dirt, SPF and impurities. I typically use Farmacy’s Very Cherry Clean balm and Krave Beauty’s Matcha Hemp Cleanser which are gentle and packed with perks from Vitamin C to antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. 🍊After that, I use an eye cream. Lately, I’ve been using my mini Jet Lag mask for this purpose and love it. I find this mask to be so multifunctional and really hydrating. Sometimes I’ll use it as a nighttime moisturizer too but not tonight. 🍋Although it varies depending on the night and need that day of my skin, last night I went in with a retinol once my skin was drier after washing rather than keeping it wet for a different serum like HA, etc. I don’t adore this retinol and have a new one coming from Allies of Skin but this does a good job with cell turnover despite the questionably long ingredient list and questionable customer service/behavior of the brand. 🍏After that, I used this moisturizer by Farmacy which I wasn’t in love with at first but it is growing on me, especially for summertime where I want a bit of a lighter finish compared to some of my winter nighttime moisturizers. 🍇Then to lock everything in, I use this gorgeous oil by Leah Skin. This is an oil that actually can be paired with retinol according to the brand owner because it is a stable form of Vitamin C which is super cool. 🌈 I like this routine quite a lot minus the retinol although it does the job for now. What do you think? Wrecked barrier? Ceramides to the rescue!
I think we’ve all been there.... your skin feels dry and tight. It has so much redness and irritation that every product stings your skin. Welcome to an unhappy moisture barrier. But, CERAMIDES TO THE RESCUE! Which product would be best for introducing this miracle ingredient into your skin? The thick and creamy Drunk elephant Lala retro or Krave Beauty’s great barrier relief serum? Keep reading to find out. DE Lala retro claims to be: a rescue cream infused with six rare African oils and a ceramide complex for intense moisture and replenishing barrier support. Krave Beauty GBR: claims to be a skin soothing serum that restores your damaged skin barrier while evening out your complexion. As a gal with super dry and dehydrated, sensitive skin, it is SUPER easy for me to push my skin to the limit and wreck my barrier. I honestly love to keep both of these in my stash, but have been reaching for GBR by Krave much more often. When your skin just cannot retain moisture and is so irritated, I love to opt for the soothing serum. It’s very thin texture soaks right into my skin instead of staying as a greasy film on top of the skin. It also contains olive oil, which is an occlusive, to really lock in the moisture. I will opt for Lala retro, which is a beautiful thick moisturizer, as upkeep and/or when my moisture barrier is finally on the uprise. I believe that both of these have amazing ingredients that will not irritate your skin further. I think that Lala retro may be a bit heavy for oily skin types, but for the most part both of these should work great for all skin types. I highly recommend you keep these in your stash if you use actives, because they are easy to overdo! DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream Krave - Great Barrier Relief

My skincare routine for DRY SKIN
So I have dry skin and it is a bit sensitive and I found that these products worked best for me. I apply it in such order 1) Cleanser 2) Toner 3) Serum/Booster 4) Moisturizer 5) Sunscreen (AM only) For the cleanser LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser I really enjoyed it. It did wonders for my dry skin. It has a creamy milky consistency that doesn’t lather ensuring that your skin isn’t overly stripped. I would also recommend this product if you have sensitive skin because it has 8 ingredients! For sensitive skin it is better to use less ingredients to ensure that your skin doesn’t get irritated. I would compare the consistency to CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser. Next I use a toner. FARMACY - Deep Sweep The only reason I actually use it is because of the BHA. I found it to not be irritating and my skin didn’t have a tingling feeling either. Since I do have dry skin I don’t use it all over my face. I only use it on my chin for whiteheads and on my nose for blackheads. Another plus is that this toner is alcohol free! After that I use a serum/booster. VERSED - HYDRATION STATION Booster With HA This booster is really good and I didn’t find it to be sticky as others might say. It has a lightweight consistency and almost feels like there isn’t anything on your face. After I apply this booster my skin feels really soft and hydrated which is a must for dry skin. Hyaluronic acid offers those benefits. The moisturizer I use is the HONEST - The Daily Calm Lightweight Moisturizer When I found out that Honest Beauty came out with this formula I was impressed because they usually use fragrances (essential oils) in their products. I decided to give it a try because it is fragrance free. However, it had a noticeable scent to it that wasn’t pleasant. Yes it is fragrance free but it just has a noticeable “lotion” type smell that you can smell all day. Besides that one problem I have no complaints. (If you have moisturizer suggestions for dry skin please let me know) Finally I use sunscreen. BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen SPF 30 PA +++ This right here is one of the only sunscreens with zinc oxide that doesn’t leave a white cast. Sunscreen is an essential part of your skincare routine no matter what your skin tone is. You should definitely be using one especially if you exfoliate. It feels like there is nothing on your face. I definitely recommend this one!!
☀️ morning skincare routine for dry skin ☀️
finding a good skincare routine was one of my 2020 goals. after much trial and error, i have found some products that i really love: GARNIER - Micellar Water Facial Cleanser Sensitive Skin - so gentle for morning cleansing. DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum - vitamin c has made a major difference for me. i have noticed dark spots fading and my skin brightening. TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream - perfectly creamy and moisturizing, and i love the subtle scent. this is the first face cream that i have repurchased before finishing the first jar! Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 - clearly a favorite, as the wording has basically rubbed off. i love that this goes on clear and matte. it doubles as my primer if i’m wearing makeup.

review my routine for next week! 🧖🏾♀️
does anyone else listen to the ‘naked beauty’ podcast?? it’s one of my favorites! i just listened to the two episodes with the founders of golde and dr barbara sturm skincare lines, and they both recommended that we take it easy on acids and active serums. i generally try to take this approach anyway, but i’m going to particularly focus on that philosophy this week, to see how my skin reacts. here’s what’s in the lineup: Neutrogena - Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser for AM cleansing - very affordable and gets the job done. a little drying, but not stripping. TATCHA - The Rice Polish Foaming Enzyme Powder for PM cleansing - i received this in a sampler kit and i enjoy it. the gentle physical exfoliation is a major plus. it’s just so pricey - still on the fence about investing in a full size product. DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum for AM - i get hyperpigmentation and can have an uneven skin tone, so this is a staple. i’m open to trying new vitamin c products though. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil for PM - i really do love this oil. it’s very gentle and non-greasy. it’s expensive for a single oil, but it has lasted a long time. TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream for AM moisture - my OG favorite that always gets the job done. DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream for PM moisture - i am trying this out. it has been enjoyable so far, but it’s a little thin for my skin. i probably won’t purchase the full size, but i’m considering the lala product when my laneige sleeping mask runs out. Glossier. - Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen for AM sunscreen - this isn’t my most favorite sunscreen, but i hate wasting products that do work. i’m trying to empty this one right now. the product is smooth and effective, but i don’t necessarily need the dewy sheen that it provides. excited to see what’s in everyone else’s lineup! 👩🏾🏫

Drunk Elephant Line Rapid Review: Part 1
Brief peeks into my latest opinions of various Drunk Elephant products: • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample is a deep-cleaning gel cleanser that is strong enough to take off sweat and sunscreen, but I find it needs a primary cleanse if I’m wearing makeup. Can be bit harsh if I’m having an eczema flare-up but is otherwise gentle and good for most skin. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser is a super gentle balm cleanser that I love to leave on as a moisturizing mask before I use it to wash off my makeup. Doesn’t irritate my eyes and is perfect for sensitive skin. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - C-Firma Vitamin C Day Serum is a potent vitamin c serum that lightens hyperpigmentation very well within months of use. However, it is too potent for my skin, so I dilute it heavily if I use it. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Resurfacing Night Serum makes skin so soft and smooth! It helps bumpy texture wonderfully. Again, super potent- I have to be sure to use a small amount dilute in a serum and applied over top of my moisturizer. Improves skin texture very fast. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream is and always will be a favourite. Creamy yet fluffy. Rich and quenching. Perfect for sensitive skin. Never leaves me shiny! • DRUNK ELEPHANT - F-Balm Electrolyte Waterfacial Mask is another favourite- it’s perfect for dehydrated, dry, or sensitive skin. I always use it after an acid product to prevent inflammation and sensitivity. A surprising texture, due to the beads of fatty acids, and it soaks in quickly. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask is so, so, so potent! It’s amazing. A single use leaves my skin baby soft and glowing. However, the potency that gives instant results makes it so strong that I can only use it every other week. But I’ll keep doing so because it’s so wonderful feeling my smooth, soft skin afterwards. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil is the best oil I’ve ever tried in terms of super fast absorption and lack of shine. It leaves me dewy, not greasy, and a couple drops is the perfect boost to my moisturizers. It is a bit pricy though considering I only use it in the PM unless it’s winter, making the quick absorption only important for 3 months of the year. • DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 No white cast, no tingling, no congestion. Buuut I am a little shiny if I use this in the summer, so this is my preferred winter sunscreen and would be perfect for dry-skinned folks.
