All Curlers are the Same...right?
So, I used to think, an eyelash curler, was an eyelash curler, was an eyelash curler. I would pick one up at Walmart, and call it a day. I typically had to replace it once a year. After hearing how great this curler was, I thought, ok, I'll see what the big deal is. Well, I'll tell you. it curls, instead of crimping. it gets all my lashes instead of leaving a bunch on the end. It costs about twice as much as the one from Walmart...but I have had it for 4 years and counting. It does a better job, and it is more cost-effective...this is a winning tool all around
EASY Kitten Eye 🐱 (Baby Wing) #CheriePartner
I love a winged liner look but sometimes I only want something subtle. A “Kitten Eye” or “Baby Wing” is always my go-to eye look for all kinds of occasions! Especially with everyone wearing masks nowadays, the first thing everyone sees are your eyes and this look is cute, flirty and definitely elongates your eyes! The main difference (to me) between a kitten eye and a cat eye is that a kitten wing is much smaller and and shorter compared to a cat eye winged liner. This kitten wing is only at the outer 1/3 of the eye whereas a cat eye wing would start from the inner corner of the eye and extend even further out! What you need: A liquid eyeliner (or sharpened eye pencil) DollyWink - DollyWink Liquid Eyeliner This Dollywink Liquid Eyeliner is my go-to eyeliner and has been a favorite for almost 8 years!!! I discovered it during my freshman year of high school and has always remained the best of the ones I have tried. It’s extremely long wearing, very waterproof, and high in pigment. I also prefer the brush tip over a felt tip! An eyelash curler shu uemura - Eyelash curler I’ve had this eyelash curler since middle school and have only changed out the pads twice since! It reallys hugs my eye shape and curls every. single. lash! It’s truly the best eyelash curler ever. A mascara MAYBELLINE - The Falsies Push Up Angel Mascara I have been LOVING this drugstore mascara! The plastic brush really helps to push up, curl and separate my lashes. It gives a really defined but fluttery effect on my lashes and is probably one of my favorite mascaras ever! How to draw the baby wing: (view 2nd pic!) 1) Using the liquid eyeliner, trace the outer 1/3 of your upper lash line. 2) Draw a thin line out following the direction of your bottom lash line. But not too long. 3) Starting from the outer point of the line your just drew, draw a third line bringing the wing back in. 4) Fill in the triangle! Tada! 5) Curl your lashes and apply mascara! Let me know if you try this out and whether you like it!
Favourite Brushes- Real Techniques Blush Brush
I’ve raved about this brush so much, my friend @beautyblogbystef influenced me to pick it up about a month ago! It’s sooo soft and fluffy, I’ve been using it to apply my bronzer and love that it picks up a good amount of product but doesn’t pack it onto my skin. It does such a good job and is overall such a high quality brush but affordable - I’d definitely recommend picking it up!
My secret weapon for intense eyes👀
When looking for a new set of makeup brushes, my main two priorities were to ensure they are made from a sustainable material and vegan-friendly hair. It is easy to get persuaded by pretty pattered or coloured brushes, but I was sure to remain faithful to what I wanted. I was extremely pleased to discover on Amazon the brand ‘EmaxDesign’. What initially drew me towards this set was the hand-crafted bamboo handles. Not only does this ensure they are long-lasting and durable, but that they are better for the environment. They are made from super-soft synthetic hair that is vegan friendly. And the drawstring bag is ideal for travel. Large eye shadow brush. No makeup look is complete without this product. I use this to lightly blend out the harsh line that can appear in the crease of the eye socket. The long length of the brush allows you to have a loose grip and angle the brush correctly to perfectly blend out the eye socket crease. My eye shape is almond and fits perfectly. Highlight brush. Nicely angled and perfectly sized, this brush allows you to highlight your nose and under eyebrows effortlessly. The small size, however, means I do not use it on my cheeks. Eye smudge brush. This brush is compact and firm, allowing you to add a lot of product that provides a pigmented colour onto your skin. The hairs do not fray, and I love to use this item for the dark colours on the outer edge of my eye. Eyebrow brush I rarely use for its purpose of filling in brows with powder. I find it is more beneficial to use with concealer around the brows to shape them. For this, it is ideal and creates no harsh lines. Small eye shadow brush It is not one I use daily. It is however perfect for packing on a pigmented glitter shade on top of our base eye shadow colour. The pigment holds well to the brush and seamlessly applies to the eyelid.
Makeup For Video Interviews 🖥✨#CheriePartner
As a May 2020 graduate, I’ve been doing a lot of interviews and phone calls over the quarantine period for jobs and internships. Along the way I picked a few key tips for achieving a flawless, professional makeup look perfect for video calls. All I want is to make the impression that I’m put together and perfect for the role! Of course, everyone has different kinds of makeup looks, and specific parts of makeup that make it “signature” to them (like a strong winged liner, or bold lip, or even a super bare natural face!). But for me, my “signature” looks is something quite fresh-faced, glowy skin, defined eyes and a tinted lip! Tips: 1) Stay true to yourself! If you never wear a red lip, don’t wear a red lip to the interview. If you always have a beautiful eyeshadow look on, definitely put some eyeshadow on! The truth is, when you feel most like yourself, the more confident you will appear to others. 2) Video calls tend to wash you out, so if you’re applying a color product maybe add a little more than usual! Here is what I used: HOURGLASS - Illume Sheer Color Trio This is a the perfect product to bronze, blush AND highlight the face! The formula is super creamy and soft, but definitely packs a punch with its pigment. The highlight also gives off a beautiful glow on camera! ESTĒE LAUDER - Double Wear Radiant Concealer I don’t feel the need for a foundation on camera as blemishes are generally not visible depending on video resolution. But I have really bad under eye circles that can make me look tired, so I always want a little concealer just to brighten up my face and eyes. This one is medium coverage with a natural finish on the skin. COLOURPOP - Brow Boss Pencil I always define my brows because they help to frame the face. This is an amazing inexpensive one that has the perfect waxy formula for adding fullness to the brows that looks natural. NUDESTIX - Magnetic Luminous Eyeshadow Defining my eyes is important to me because it’s a feature of my face that I really like. So a little glowy eyeshadow helps to bring attention to my eyes, helps me look a little more awake and defines it a little more. MAYBELLINE - Lash Sensational Mascara Full Fan Effect I know it’s near impossible to see individual lashes on video call but it helps a lot with defining my eyes! It also makes me feel more put together too just because I’d feel off if I had a full face of makeup and didn’t have mascara on. lisa eldridge - True Velvet Lipstick in Velvet Muse This is one of my favorite matte lipsticks because it’s super pigmented, non-drying but gives a matte finish. I add a little balm beforehand to keep my lips moisturized and to sheer the color a little. This is definitely a my-lips-but-better kind of shade.

This or That? Come and make a choice between them!
The most economical way is to apply foundation with our fingers. But that always gets your hands dirty with product, and creates a uneven look on your face too. So it’s better use a right tool. Then do you use a makeup brush or beauty blender? It seems to be a serious problem. Personally, I prefer to use beauty blender, since brush has higher requirements for professional technique, which is not friendly to me. What are the pros and cons of beauty blender and brush respectively? I’d like to share my experience. Beauty blender provides a light, natural and even coverage of foundation, and that’s exactly what I am looking for. It can achieve a dewy look to your skin, blend out foundation effortlessly. If you are on the hunt for cheap tools, makeup sponges are good choice. In terms of shortcomings, beauty blender absorbs foundation a lot and it doesn't last. But on the other hand, that is why you get a lighter coverage. In addition, you have to wet your sponge because a damp beauty blender helps to create a more even, dewy finish than dry. For brush, it provides a fast application every time and high coverage that lasts all day long. And if you wash it often and keep in good condition, a makeup brush can last for years. Unlike sponges, you have to replace them every 3 to 4 months, even if you clean them often, which are a perfect breeding ground for bacteria to grow. However, a makeup brush needs professional painting, or it will easily leave a streaky finish. It’s also hard to find a cheap good quality makeup brush as it’s more expensive than sponges. If you get a brush that isn't up to standard, you will get disaster application or even unwanted brush hairs on your face. Just take some time to decide on the right applicator for you.
Baaaarely there makeup 🌿 (no-makeup makeup)
Guys it’s been SO HOT here in SoCal, I truly can’t even 🥵 In the rare case I want to give myself a little glow (that isn’t sweat 🤪), a little brow, this is what I’ve been going for! For this super simple, barely there, ‘naked’ makeup look I went with tried and true favs. My favorite products for a no makeup makeup look: 💚 UNDONE BEAUTY - LIP TO CHEEK 3-IN-1 CREAM PALETTE I love this palette so much! This color is just simply amazing on the skin and included three different intensities so you can go with the more pigmented formula or just add a touch of color with the sheer one. 💚 Lime Crime - Bushy Brow Precision Pen best brow pen I’ve ever tried. The brush is so, so thin and easy to use. 💚 e.l.f. - Hydrating Camo Concealer Elf’s been killing it with their makeup recently, this hydrating concealer is perfect for my dehydrated skin. Never feels cakey or heavy and it’s very affordable. 💚 wet n wild - Mega Length Mascara my new favorite natural looking mascara. It lifts, lengthens and separates lashes beautifully. It holds my curl and looks just like my lashes but better. 💚 e.l.f. - Jelly Pop Juicy Gloss such a cute gloss! It has a red tint and makes you look alive and cute. It’s not sticky at all and smells so good. 💚 e.l.f. - Wow Brow Gel I’ve talked about this being a potential dupe for Glossier’s boy brow, it has a more lighter consistency and isn’t as waxy, but it also is like a quarter of the price sooo Lastly, I would recommend a sheer, balmy highlighter to add just that extra touch of glow to the skin! ✨ #CheriePartner

Blush brush or beauty blender??
I love using different making tools for different products and looks. Recently I’ve been super into cream blush because it gives a slightly dewy effect. I got both of these products from sephora! One is the beautyblender - beautyblender Original Makeup Sponge Applicator which is such an amazing product. Everyone obviously raves about it. It gives an absolutely beautiful and seamless finish. I like using this for cream blush if I want it subtle and diffused since I use a stippling technique to apply it. I got the blush brush from sephora also! It is the sephora blush brush #99. One of the best blush brushes I have because it is easy to use for cream blush AND powder blush. I love versatility. It has a fairly flat body but it tapers ito a bushy point almost. Perfect for applying to the apples of your checks. For the sake of blush and the versatility aspect I like using this more than the beauty blender! But if I’m traveling and space is an issue the beauty blender is such a great alternative to apply cream blush. SEPHORA COLLECTION - PRO Blush Brush #99 💋🤍 #cheriepartner

Eyeliner 101 - Liquid eyeliner & brushes
Personally, I am a little bit obsessed with liquid eyeliners. When I first started doing my eye makeup, gel liners are my favorite since they are often easier to use for first timers. I do use pen liners a lot these days, but I just found with a gel and brush, it is easier to get the perfect liner and wing I want. Here are my eyeliner brushes collections. These three are on the star product on the top of my liner brush list that helps me to get the This is actually the one that I used most often. I really like it. This brush is perfect for eyeliners or for cream brow products. It's so precise. Thin lines aren't a problem for this brush. This is a kind of angled slanted brush. This kind of brush lets you control the fluidity and movement of the makeup so you can draw the thinnest of lines. With this brush I can make my perfect eye wing and my eyebrows too! However If you are a beginner, this brush might scare you at first since It’s tricky to get that really nice wing at the end. With this you gonna need more practices. And you would found it your favorite one. The brush width is the perfect size . It is a slim, and sparse tipped brush. It puts my Fluidline on my waterline smoothly. Another great thing about this brush is that it allows precise application while also making a thick enough line that you don't have to go over the area multiple times. I found this brush works well with almost every products and formulas of liner: dry-to-wet, gel, and even a shadow stick. I like small brushes. This one is just super easy to control. 3 years ago, when I started with gel liner, this little brush is the only brush I dare apply gel eyeliner with. I would highly recommend this for beginners. It’s so easy to apply gel eyeliner with this brush as the bristles pick up the color and draw a clean line with no strays. My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
