#innisfree - Lip Sleeping Mask[products]#[ThreeStars] This product is a nice balm that can keep your lips moisturized. I used to put it on at night, but it only kept my lips moisturized from time to time. It has a pleasant scent and feels good with on my lips. I think I’m going to just stick with trusty ol’ Vaseline.
Winter Is Coming
innisfree - Orchid Youth-Enriched Gel Cream This is my favorite moisturizer ever. Since winter is coming, I like to switch to a thicker cream to hydrate my skin. This one is a thicker formula which absorbs quickly and doesn’t leave your skin feeling sticky. The fragrance truly does smell like orchids which was a pleasant surprise. It feels nice and cool on the skin as well. I use it every night for my horribly dry skin.

VIVIENNE SABÓ - Cabaret Première Waterproof Volume Mascara I discovered this beauty on a Buzzfeed post and I’m elated that I did. It give you voluminous, long lashes with 1-2 coats. I’ve been using a $23 mascara for years and this one is only $13 on Amazon! It also comes in the regular formula if you don’t want waterproof, which works just as well. It stays all day, but doesn’t have to be harshly scrubbed off later on. I’m NEVER going back!

I’d never tried green or blue shadow but this changes my mind about wearing them. I love the emerald shade! The shadow is super pigmented too!

Got Dark Circles?Color correct with Red Lipstick
Let's face it; dark circles are inevitable. Yes, you can get rid of them, but until then, you can do this simple hack to make sure they aren't peaking through your makeup. For newbies, color correcting can be a little intimidating, but don't worry; you will get the hang of it. On a fresh face, take a simple red or orange lipstick, and with your finger start dabbing it onto your under eyes, a little goes a long way, so try not to overdo it. To make sure that you cover your entire under-eye area, draw a large upside-down triangle. This should reach from the corner of your inner eye to the bottom of your nose to about an inch past the outer corner of your eye. Blend it as much as you can until it's just a tint of red or orange. Now you can move onto either applying your concealer or go straight to the foundation. I don't use concealer so I just put foundation on top. If you feel like you can still see the red or orange then apply a concealer to mask the color and use a little less red next time. Don't forget to set it with some translucent powder! This will help keep everything in place throughout the day. Fun Fact: The reason this helps correct dark circles is because there are tints of blue and green in dark circles. In color theory, the color that is opposite of it (red and orange) will neutralize the color (this also applies when you're toning blonde hair which is why you use purple shampoo to get rid of yellow) I love to use MILANI - Color Statement Matte Lipstick in 07 Best Red because it gives a little bit of a sticky surface, which means your makeup isn't going ANYWHERE. Also, if you are looking for a cheap drug store brand lipstick, this is the best, especially for a red because it doesn't bleed! And it feels comfortable and smooth on your lips 💋

Empties: Neutrogena Hydro Boost
Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream The BEST face cream, hands down! And probably my favourite moisturizer compared to any other drugstore or high-end brands :) I’m guilty of trying new face creams but always coming back to this one. I’ve posted about this product before but it’s too good to not post about again. This moisturizer is labelled for “extra dry skin” and while I don’t have extra dry skin, I still can’t get enough of it. I use this all year round and have purchased so many. I can’t even imagine how much money I’ve spent on buying replacements haha. Why I love this: 💧 It’s fragrance free (the non extra dry one has a scent to it that I cannot handle, so this is perfect) 💧It absorbs beautifully into my skin and doesn’t make me feel greasy 💧In the winter when I get dry patches, this works wonders by hydrating those areas and getting rid of the dry skin 💧It’s non-comedogenic — no clogged pores with this cream! 💧It’s so light-weight. I love gel creams! 💧It contains hyaluronic acid — moisturizing you’re skin by holding up to 1000x its weight in water 💧It’s oil-free & dye-free If you’re one of the few people out there who hasn’t tried this, I suggest doing so :) It retails for $23.99 CAD.

THE ORDINARY SKIN JOURNEY
Hey y’all! Fall/Winter season is amongst us, and I can’t be the only person who instantly feels the shift in skin texture/tone, and especially dullness with the weather change. I’ve decided to toss my mediocre products, and start a new journey with THE ORDINARY. I’m the first to admit I’m SUPER anal when it comes to my skincare, but we all want close to perfect skin right? Disclaimer - this is my FIRST time using their products. I was drawn to their products for the mere fact that their online skin care professionals actually take the time to discuss your skin concerns, and what could work best for you. I wanted products that would be EFFECTIVE, but didn’t break the bank. & I wanted a line that offers DIRECT ACIDS & POTENT SERUMS. So let’s get into it! MY SKIN CONCERNS I WANT TO COMBAT; signs of aging - I’m 28 years old, and I would say I actually have pretty good skin. But I want to slow down signs of aging such as, FINE LINES/WRINKLES, CROWS FEET, ELASTICITY etc ✨ for this I use the Hylamide - SubQ Skin Advanced Serum, followed by Hylamide - SubQ Eyes. Peptides are CRUCIAL for preventing signs of aging dullness & faded dark spots - I use to break out quite frequently which often would lead to blemishes from acne or pimples. As of lately, I’ve been doing superb with these concerns due to another product I’ve been using (NOT TO WORRY, I’ll make a separate post) So for right now, I really want to maintain a healthy and even glow ✨ for this I use The Ordinary - Ascorbyl Glucoside Solution 12%. Along with brightening your skin & enhancing radiance, this helps stimulate collagen, smooth fine lines, & even tone/fade pigmentation visible pores - I have to say it, **YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE SIZE OF PORES** it’s hereditary. However, you can reduce the visibility by keeping those pores squeaky clean with great exfoliants/chemical peels to help regulate the production of oil & sebum ✨ for this I use the SERUM The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%. This product also helps in brightening and strengthening your skin’s barrier. I also use a DIRECT ACID The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 5% + HAto help as a power duo, specifically in the PM, 2-3 times a week acne/blackheads/texture irregularities - ✨ for this I use a BHA The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% MasqueONCE a week. This is great for clearing of any blackheads/whiteheads on the skin by decongesting & clearing your pores from impurities, which usually leads to those pesky breakouts SIDENOTE -> I’ve also started using their The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solutionwhich is AMAZING, & I’ll be doing a separate post about it. I’ll be documenting my skin journey weekly, along with dropping some pics so you can see the progress (or not so progress). If you’d like additional info, or simply want to trade tips, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re in this skin journey together! Here’s to healthy & radiant skin 🤎

Hydrating PM Routine
I don’t always use the same products since I have so many; I like to change things up. Tonight I was going for more of a hydrating routine. Step 1: I cleansed my face with the FARMACY - Clean Bee Ultra Gentle Facial Cleanser This cleanser is, as the name suggests, ultra gentle and soothing. I apply this to wet skin and massage it in, ensuring I get the dirt and oil, etc. from the day off. Rinse with warm water and you’re good to go. This smells great and I’m obsessed with honey and bees so this is heaven for me. Step 2: I don’t always use a toner but tonight I felt like it. I used an old faithful: REN CLEAN SKINCARE - Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Toner I love this toner because it smells amazing and it gets rid of anything I may have missed while cleansing. I like using a toner when I feel like I need to exfoliate and help out my pores. I love the glow this toner gives my skin. Step 3: I can’t remember the last time I skipped out on using The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I use this every day, twice a day. AM and PM. I cannot get enough of this. I rarely have dry skin anymore because of this product. It keeps my skin so hydrated. Step 4: My other love is the The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I love the Inkey List niacinamide as well, but I felt like I should pair TO with TO. Like I said above with toning, I like to keep my pores in check and this is wonderful for doing so. It decreases their appearance and if I have a spot this clears it up so quickly! Step 5: In keeping with wanting my skin to feel extra hydrated, I went with the The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil This light-weight oil is super hydrating. It’s also a great alternative to a moisturizer but is also great to mix with a moisturizer. Whenever I use this in the PM, I wake up and my skin looks really glowy and I’m all about that. Step 6: Hydrate and moisturize your under eyes if you feel like they’re looking a little dry or dull. I love love love this eye cream: OLAY - Eyes Brightening Eye Cream It smells nice and fresh, has brightening effects, and is super moisturizing. Whenever I want to add that extra moisture under my eyes this is what I reach for. Step 7: I sometimes mix the Rose Hip Seed Oil with the The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA but tonight I decided to use these separately. I adore this moisturizer because it’s really hydrating and gentle. It’s not greasy and it doesn’t clog my pores. I don’t always use a moisturizer after using Rose Hip Seed Oil but because I wanted to really moisturize my skin, I added this. Step 8: I like to add a lip scrub on occasion and I love this honey flavoured one :) It smells great and it makes your lips feel hydrated and so soft SEPHORA COLLECTION - SEPHORA COLLECTION Lip Balm & Scrub

Battle of the Creams: Cerave v. First Aid Beauty
I used Cerave Moisturizing Cream at night for the past 3 years, but in March, I got sucked into skincare Youtube and felt like I needed to upgrade what I thought was a boring insufficient routine 😅 I heard such good things about the FAB Ultra Repair Cream, and bought a travel size. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream Intense Hydration Texture: the texture is quite whipped. The product feels a bit heavy on the skin at first, but dries down quickly to a matte finish. Scent: this product does not contain synthetic fragrance, but it does contain eucalyptus oil. To me, the product smells like milk and eucalyptus. Application: the travel size (2 oz) comes in a squeeze tube, as does the 8 oz. The other sizes come in tubs. Results: For ~3 months, I used the FAB day and night as my moisturizer. At night, I would mix it with 2-3 drops of squalane oil. At first, my skin loved it! Unlike many of the other daytime moisturizers I tried, FAB kept my skin hydrated all day and I wouldn’t be peeling or flaking on the parts of my skin that are dry. I liked it so much that after I ran out of the 2oz, I spent $42 on the 8oz tube in the photo. But I started to get small, uniform itchy bumps on my cheeks—which was unusual because I rarely break out there. I saw my dermatologist, who confirmed that it was fungal acne ☹️ To be honest, I’m not sure if it was the squalane oil I was using or the FAB that was causing this, but after reading other reviews that claimed FAB caused fungal acne, I suspect it was the FAB that did it for me. Plus I have used the Cerave with squalane, and didn’t experience fungal acne from that. CeraVe - Moisturizing Cream For Normal To Dry Skin Texture: this product is a heavy cream, but it is tacky rather than greasy. It sinks nicely into the skin and has a slightly shiny, glazed donut finish. To me, it feels too heavy to use during the day, but I like that feel for nighttime. Scent: this product is scentless and doesn’t have any synthetic fragrance or fragrant oils. Application: the full-size version of this product comes in a tub, but you can buy one with the pump or without. I prefer the pump so I don’t have to dip my fingers in the tub (even though it is safe to do so thanks to preservatives 🙂). Results: I have used this cream for 3 years and have never had any irritation or acne from this product. I have tried mixing serums and squalane into this, and they mix nicely without pilling. I will say that everyone’s skin is different—I am combo/acne prone, my bf has dry skin and Cerave stings his skin. So as always, you may want to buy a small size and patch test. Price-wise, Cerave is much cheaper at $15 for 12oz. 🚨 Overall thoughts: What I learned was the same thing @lilyclintonand @veedimsaid in lily’s review of Cerave vs FAB (go read! I was like, “YES, THANK YOU!” 😂): more expensive doesn’t always mean it’s a better product!

Silicone Primers: Are They Really That Bad?
Above I have depicted my cheapest silicone based primer The Ordinary - High-Adherence Silicone Primer ($4.90) And my most expensive primer TATCHA - The Liquid Silk Canvas: Featherweight Protective Primer ($52) What are silicones? Silicone is derived from silica (silicon dioxide Si02). It’s most naturally found in quartz crystal, living organism, and even earth’s crust. There are various types of silicones that do various jobs. Some have smoothing effects, softening effects, and even water resistant effects. How to tell what your primer is: When checking your primer (or foundation), to find if your product is silicone based. There will be a ingredient ending in -cone or -silicate, -methicone, -silicone, or -siloxane towards the beginning of the label. Most primers will begin with water, do not base your ingredients on this. Silicone primers are ideal for oily & combo skin! So why do silicone get a bad rap? There’s a nasty rumor going around that silicone can cause acne. I’m here to tell you there is no substantiated research to prove that. The deal with silicones is they act as “skin like” barrier on the skin that are permeable (science term for letting things pass though back and forth). “I broke out from using a silicone primer” I’m 90% sure it was not that ! Silicone molecules are too big to be absorbed into the skin. When taking off silicone from your face the proper way is to either A. Double Cleanse or B. Use micellar water. (I do both!) I also follow with a great toner because even then you never know what can be left behind. Improper cleansing will leave you with acne! Also if you have acne prone or sensitive skin chances are you were going to break out anyways. Do I need a primer? If you want all day wear YES! Primers act like a second skin that make it easier for makeup to adhere to. Also if you have texture issues, silicone primers will smooth lines, bumps, pores, and help your makeup to apply more easily! If you don’t want to use primers, hey that’s your choice (this is a judge free zone), you can opt for adding these to your daily skin care routine (to improve your skin): hyaluronic acid to moisturizer skin caffeine to increase elasticity retinoids to boost collagen But your makeup won’t survive a night out! Also opt for a water based primer, which is more ideal for dry or eczema type skin. They will leave you with a dewy finish though. ******JUST BE SURE TO USE A WATER BASED PRIMER WITH WATER BASED FOUNDATION & SILICONE BASED PRIMER WITH SILICONE BASED FOUNDATION!****
