Hyaluronic Acid 101 x DermDoctor
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a humectant that famously holds 1000 times its weight in water. It pulls in water from the environment and from the deeper layers of your skin. This ingredient seems to be ubiquitous in skincare products nowadays and it can be found in a lot of moisturizers. Benefits: -Immediately plumps the skin, softening fine lines and wrinkles -Hydrates the skin (specifically high-molecular-weight HA) -Assists in wound healing Dermatologist Tips: -Hyaluronic acid is your first step after cleansing -Must be applied to damp skin! -If you live in a dry climate, make sure to moisturize immediately after -Can be used once or twice a day -Safe to layer with most other skincare ingredients My Top Picks: VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum
“NO FAIL” RETINOL ROUTINE - PM
I shared earlier this week my “no fail” AM skincare routine the products seen in that post I’ve used time and time again. They’ve never let me down and along with the ones listed here, are repurchases that keep my skin happy and healthy! Milk MAKEUP - Vegan Milk Cleanser I like to use this cleanser when my face needs a little extra pampering. Milk Cleanser is super soft and gentle and leaves my face feeling very nourished. INDIE LEE - CoQ-10 Toner same as used in the AM. I'm from - Rice Toner I honestly cannot get enough of hydrating products, especially when I am using my retinal. I have probably five open at this time and will use them all or a few at a time. This Rice Toner is so soft and smooth. If you’re into essences or toners this is a must try! I splash a few drops into my hand and then pat it onto my face leaving it wet until I add.... THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum I lock the Rice Toner in with HA. I am indoors most of the time, a bit of a recluse, but my skin still get very dry so I lock in the hydration first and end with the moisturizer! Medik8 - Crystal Retinal this is a bit expensive but well worth it to me because within weeks of use I saw significant changes. I’ve been asked my so many what I use for skincare as I have hardly any lines and I used to worship the sun with no sunscreen (⚠️) But I’ve been lucky and take very good care of my skin now. You only need a pea size amount of retinal for your face and add it to DRY skin. YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Mask last up is my new favorite (on my second bottle), the YTTP Dream Mask. You only need a small amount with this and I go through about two a year as I use it every night. It’s gentle enough to use nightly but if you’re using other treatments you may want to alternate nights (if you have sensitive skin as it has vitamin c). You can put a light layer of moisturizer on before applying this but for me, this is plenty. The Crystal Retinal I use is non-drying so I am good with just the mask. But if your retinol tends to dry your face, I’d recommend adding a light layer of moisturizer before the dream mask. ⭐️ That’s it! You could eliminate the 2 toners (Co-Q10 & Rice Toner) and simplify it down to 4 steps. I’ll be sharing my PM exfoliating routine soon! One of my favorites!!! I never thought I’d love exfoliating so much 😂 Much ❤️ my @cherie family! 🍒 #cheriecreator
Help! I’ve had these bumps on my forehead/eyebrow area and cheek/undereye area for months now. I dont know what else to do. My current routine (daily): mornings - THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser - THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum - OLAY - Complete All Day UV Moisturizer SPF 15 Sensitive Skin nights -THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleansersometimes bc i know i’m not supposed to use salicylic acid in the same time frame as differin so this differs by day sometimes i’ll use it five hours before i use the differin and pray that’s enough - THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Serum - Lubriderm - Intense Skin Repair Lotion - DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel
🥵This serum is not it🥵
So I’ve been using PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator L'ORÉAL - Revitalift Derm Intensives Vitamin C Serum The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin BIODERMA - Sensibio H2O Soothing Micellar Cleansing Water My skin looks great using all of the products listed above, you can see in the second photo. After my skin was reallly vibin and adjusting to my current product use I was like “let’s mix it up to try to see if I can get even better results” 🤔 which was me adding the LA ROCHE-POSAY - Hyalu B5 Pure Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum into the mix. The night after I used it my face was full of red spots and just overall blotchy skin with redness, you can see in the 1st photo. I do not recommend LA ROCHE-POSAY - Hyalu B5 Pure Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum it is full of fragrance which I’m think is what keeps giving me a reaction? Not sure either way it is not worth it and I’m pretty sure it’s around $30 so it’s a definite no. Save your money on this one.
Skin so 🌼glowy & bright🌻 —> Vitamin C
👋 I’m Sarah and I’m 24 years old. I’ve recently gotten really deep in to skincare. I always liked taking care of my face but I didn’t know the products i had been using were terrible until a few months ago (cuz U kno skincare tiktok) so I revamped my skincare routine and here we are with some before and after pics of my skin. Honestly the main thing I notice is how much brighter my complexion is (Thank u Vit C). I’ll leave a list of products I use/d. I’m introducing a few new products into my routine and trying to get my skin used to retinol in the next few weeks so wish me luck 🌝 CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream I find this can be too heavy on my skin but besides that I really like it and think it’ll be great to have for winter L'ORÉAL - Revitalift Derm Intensives Vitamin C Serum this is my favorite vitamin C serum I’ve tried so far. It’s so gentle on my face but still get the job done. CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin I WISH I would have discovered this years ago BIODERMA - Sensibio H2O Soothing Micellar Cleansing Water tbh regular micellar water but still great LA ROCHE-POSAY - Hyalu B5 Pure Hyaluronic Acid Face Serum honestly a waste of money, not that is doesn’t work but, for me, all of my products already have hyaluronic acid in them so my skin would break out in little bumps from using too much or the terrible fragrance or both probably. I do still use it sometimes but mostly bc it was $30ish. PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I just started using this a few weeks ago but I have high expectations. I use it once a week atm. So far so good. CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum I’m still trying to figure out how to incorporate this into my routine w/o my skin flaring up. I’m put it on top of my moisturizer tonight, hopefully that does the trick.
Day one of Tretinoin 0.04%
I’m a special ed teacher of students with moderate intellectual disabilities. Currently doing both in person (hello maskne) and online teaching (aka stressssssss). Also my district told me 3 days ago I’m getting three new students so stress times ten!! I never used to get breakouts. They started probably my junior year of college, so four and a half years ago. I’ve always been conscious of skin care and my acne never got out of hand, I just could never get rid of the ever present 2-5 pimples on my face at all times. They definitely appear most around my period. Its definitely the worst it has ever been this year with a lot of added stress on top of wearing a mask all day long. I feel like I’ve tried everything. Over the last five years I’ve gotten on birth control, done proactiv, Curology, rodan + fields, differin, every benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid face wash or mask out there, I even drink a teaspoon of liquid chlorophyll every day to try and detox from within. I also drink at least 64 oz of water every day. I try to drink more, but as a teacher I don’t get many bathroom breaks. I’m beyond frustrated and feel like I just can’t get my face clear! I gave Differin a solid chance because I really thought that, since it used to be prescription only, it would work. After 4 months of using it, I feel like it did an okay job. I never really got big painful pimples, but I never really got those anyway and I was still getting the same amount of overall breakouts each month. I decided I need to try something stronger, but I didn’t want to have to go to the dermatologist. That’s when I found Rory! I was prescribed Tretinoin 0.04% with Azelaic Acid 0.8% and Vitamin E and hyaluronic acid. It was $5 for my first bottle and will be $75 every 3 months from here on out. I got approved within a few hours and it arrived at my apartment in 2 days. I’m doing this post because I never actually take pictures to compare progress (because I’m so sick of never actually seeing any progress!!) and to try to wish for some good results finally! Here’s the rest of the routine that I’ll be doing: AM- LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Face Cleanser VICHY - LiftActiv Specialist Peptide-C Anti-Aging Ampoules VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer Bioré - UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel SPF 50+ PA++++ PM- VERSED - DAY DISSOLVE Cleansing Balm spectro - Jel Cleanser VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream Then I’ll do the Tretinoin last Wish me luck!!!
only a two weeks difference!!!
Crazy how quickly skin can change!! Also, I am 19 and clearly don’t have wrinkles so that can be attributed to an error in the Skin Journey function, lol. My routine has been: Morning: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin pixi - Vitamin-C Tonic Avène - A-Oxitive Antioxidant Defense Serum pixi - Vitamin Wakeup Mist LA ROCHE-POSAY - HYDRAPHASE UV SPF 30 Night: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser pixi - Glow Tonic To-Go Pads VICHY - Minéral 89 Face Serum Cetaphil - Restoraderm Eczema Calming Body Moisturizer
cherie giveaway prize! ⭐️
yesterday my giveaway package from cherie came in and i wanted to share it with you :) i’m going to be reviewing each of the products separately in different posts. i was most excited about the TOWER 28 - ShineOn Milky Lip Jelly Gloss (it smells amazing). it’s coconut scented and i can already tell that it’s going to look so glossy and milky on my lips! the Rare Beauty - Positive Light Liquid Luminizer has a lot of product which is great, i can use it for a while. it definitely works better if you dab it in (i swatched it on my hand) and there is no scent to it…(i’ll go more in detail about that later)? the LORAC - Mini PRO Palette Sparklingis small but the glittery shades are so pigmented but natural. i’m definitely going to be using them when i go out~ lastly, theGLOW RECIPE - Plum Plump Hyaluronic Acid Serum. since i’m focusing on perfecting my skin and clearing it up naturally, i won’t be adding this product to my routine until later. that also means i won’t review it for a while... but in the mean time i’ll make up for it with other products! (*^ω^*) thank you for this gift, @cherie♥︎ i hope to continue to expand my interaction with the people on this platform
HA is perfect for dry skin! Thanks Cherie Team🤩
I always suffered from dry skin and was never knew how to fix the issue. I would attack my face with creams and butters, hoping they would help with the dryness...but they didn’t. If anything, using that many creams and butters only made my face more dry and broke me out. It wasn’t until a year ago when I got introduced to Hyaluronic Acid and was told it’s perfect for dry skin. I was extremely excited to try this ingredient but I was also skeptical about it. The first HA product I tried was The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 and THE inkey LIST - Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum .. both of them worked SO well on my skin and have helped tremendously with my dry skin. I no longer have flakey dry skin. That’s when I knew that my skin LOVED hyaluronic acid! This is why I was so excited when Cherie gifted me this HA serum from Glow Recipe🤩 it’s actually the first product I’ve tried from Glow Recipe and so far I’m loving it! I’ve only been using this serum for about 5 days now and haven’t had issues with irritation or anything like that. I love that the product has no scent and doesn’t feel sticky on my skin. It absorbs nicely into my skin and feels hydrating. I will leave a more thorough review in a month. ✨DONT FORGET TO ALWAYS APPLY HYALURONIC ACID ON DAMP SKIN, NOT DRY!
Update form last post
As you guys saw my right cheek was struggling a little over a week ago. I simplified my routine to help my skin heal, but I did introduce two new products that I believe helped my skin and no irritation occurred. CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin NATURIUM - BHA Liquid Exfoliant 2% I love this stuff! It was gentle but effective. NATURIUM - Quadruple Hyaluronic Acid Serum 5% I have been loyal to the ordinary one, but I wanted to try a new brand and elevate my routine. FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream My go to moisturizer especially in the winter CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 Sunscreen is important especially when using an active PM DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil used to double cleanse I am still using tretinoin 0.0025% twice a week. I am slowly introducing it again! The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution I used it once in the last week but want to use it as needed. This has been my go to routine for a week and the only thing that’s happened is my skin is evening out, my acne has diminished and is being kept at bay and my skin isn’t irritated as often as it was. I am super happy and content with this routine and hope to see what happens moving forward
This is my weekly Friday night DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask routine. This is a AHA/BHA mask that helps with texture, wrinkles and tone. I only do this before bed bc I like to double cleanse before applying my mask. I typically double cleanse in the shower with BANILA CO - Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Nourishing and Kate Somerville - DeliKate Soothing Cleanser then apply PETER THOMAS ROTH - Cucumber Gel Mask Extreme Detoxifying Hydrator this mask is cooling and hydrating. I feel like this mask preps my skin for the exfoliation. When I get out of the shower I apply the DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask I leave this on for the suggested 20min. I use a washcloth to rinse off the mask with warm water, then I apply my hydrating products. I love NATURIUM - Hyaluronic Acid Essence 2% and NATURIUM - Quadruple Hyaluronic Acid Serum 5% I use both of these products in my everyday routines to help keep my skin hydrated. I then lock in all the hydration by slathering on PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer mixed with eitherNATURIUM - Virgin Marula Face Oil 100% or NATURIUM - Plant Squalane Face Oil 100% Last but not least I seal all these products in with CeraVe - Healing Ointment I feel like this pushes all the products in, like a sleeping mask. I have to lay on my back until it soaks in because it will get on my pillows. This weekly self care has really helped my skin texture and dark spots. I want to try the ordinary AHA/BHA next. I have used this once a week for the past 4 weeks, so far without any irratation. Tell me what you think about this routine down in the comments. ***I did not edit my before and after pics***
Healing, nourishing, hydrating serum
I’m gonna start off by saying that I was a bit afraid to start using this serum; previously, my skin broke out when I tried serums that prominently feature hyaluronic acid (which this serum does). Despite that, I decided to give it a try anyway, and I’m so happy that I did! In the span of around two weeks that I’ve been using this serum, it has quickly become one of my favorite. For me, the best words to describe this serum are restorative, nourishing, and hydrating. This is not a potent, annihilating serum that will turn back the clock by 15 years each time you use it. This serum works by calming and nourishing your skin with its adaptogenic herbal complex (made up of red ginseng root, holy basil and schisandra berry). I started using it when my skin was freaking out (red, inflamed, sensitive, small bumps) and within a few days, all those problems vanished. My skin also felt much stronger and healthier overall. I cannot say enough good things about this serum, and if you’re in the market for a gentle, but functional serum, check this out. . . . gifted #giftedbykiehls

Caudalie Serum Review!
Hi guys! I just wanted to quickly introduce and talk about one of my all time favourite serums from a i looooove this brand I can’t talk enough about! The Caudalie Vinosource Serum. This serum helps quench your skin when it’s feeling a little parched and dry. I love using this when I accidentally do too much exfoliating and strip my skin, this saves me! This product feels so soft and silky and it just sinks right into the skin like a glass of water and it smells like a clean product. It’s a very hard scent to describe but you’ll fall in love in love with it! You can use this every night if you have chronic dry skin.. or you can use it whenever your skin needs a pick me up!! Overall you should definitely pick up this product next time you go to Sephora if you have any of the concerns I mentioned because it really just is THAT great

I absolutely love this cream. It has a awesome texture that's light yet effective. I started using twice a week because I have sensitive skin and was able to build up to four times a week. The package is so convenient. The pump makes it easy and less wasteful. It absorbs very well but I recommend waiting a few minutes then apply your nightly moisturizer. My skin looks plumper and my pores are a little less noticeable. Overall, this is a great cream. .

SOS Thirst Quenching Serum
This was my first time trying Caudalie. Usually once I’m set with a products I love, I really don’t branch out for a while. Especially if their working ya know? But I’m on this kick where I’m obsessed with buying these kits 🙌🏼 This one made its way to being one of my favorites. I’m definitely going to try some other products of theirs :) CAUDALIE - Vinosource SOS Deep Hydration Serum It’s an oil-free serum packed with hyaluronic acid to treat, hydrate, and soothe dehydrated and irritated skin. It’s best for normal to dry skin, it’s so hydrating. I only use it on my face about twice a week and on my neck every night. It’s such a light weight serum, feels like water when it goes on. It’s definitely safe for sensitive skin!! If you are the Sahara desert dry, you need this boo!! 😉💕 Highlighted Ingredients: Organic Grape Water: Moisturizes and soothes. Hyaluronic Acid: Hydrates and plumps. Olive Squalane: Deeply moisturizes, heals cracked or chapped skin, and soothes eczema and excessive dryness 💞

hi guys!!!!! idk if u can rlly tell but my redness has gone down a bit and I am starting to notice a slight improvement of scars. I was rlly tempted to try the Ordinary’s Niacinamide like so many of u lovely ppl have recommended but I kinda wanted to stick w my fav brand Tata Harper - and then if I wasnt noticing an improvement this was my next plan (I also dont think I am emotionally prepared for another purge session but that’s just me) but yeah I started using Tata Harper’s brightening essence and serum and I’m rlly pleased w it. It’s been maybe like 3 weeks. I use it in the morning and at night after the Clarifying Cleanser :) I’m still breaking out a little due to the mask wearing / stress but this helps calm my skin down. TATA HARPER - Concentrated Brightening Essence TATA HARPER - Concentrated Brightening Serum Im also rlly excited to try Rare Beauty “Always an Optimist 4-in-1 Mist” !!!!! this actually has Niacinamide in it which I didn’t realize before purchasing so I will let u know if this makes a difference when I get it! 💗 I’m hoping that in a mist form it will be less harsh on my skin, but just enough to the job!
