FENTY SKIN - DERMATOLOGIST REVIEW

DermDoctor
I am a huge fan of Rihanna and I was extremely excited (and honored) to be chosen to review this product in advance. I've only had a chance to use it for a few days, but I'm going to break down some of the ingredients for you all from a dermatologists standpoint and let you know if I think it's worth it! FENTY SKIN - Total Cleans'r Remove-It-All Cleanser
'FENTY SKIN - Total Cleans'r Remove-It-All Cleanser
The cleanser is my favorite product in the entire starter kit from Fenty Skin. It's very hydrating, initially has a balm-like texture, that then foams after rubbing it into the skin. It has gentle cleansing ingredients that won't be too stripping to the skin. Unfortunately, this product does have fragrance in it, so it's not ideal for sensitive skin. However, fragrances in cleansers are generally safe because they're not in contact with the skin for long enough to cause sensitization. I would recommend this product to my family, friends, and patients! FENTY SKIN - Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum
The toner is probably my least favorite part of the starter kit. In general, I don't think toners are necessary to a simple skin care routine unless they add an active ingredient that's beneficial to the skin. I do like that this product has niacinamide in it, which is great for oily skin, acne, and hyperpigmentation. However, witch hazel, which is a large component of this product, is very stripping to the skin and does not have benefits long-term. I would personally avoid this product, especially if you have dry or sensitive skin. I would not recommend this product! FENTY SKIN - Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen
I really like that the skincare line has a sunscreen with SPF 30 in it. It blends extremely well with the skin and is very hydrating, while protecting from the sun. It has the texture of a very light moisturizer. It is a chemical sunscreen, however, it does not contain oxybenzone, which is an ingredient that I have been telling my patients to avoid in their sunscreens. Unfortunately, it does have a small concentration of fragrance, limonene, and linalool, which are known to cause allergy and irritation in some people. Overall, I did enjoy using this sunscreen and I think many people will like it too! In summary, there are many aspects of this product that I really like. The packaging is my favorite part of the entire product line. It's very aesthetic and I really like the refillable sunscreen container. However, given the price point and the ingredients list, I think there are better products out there that will be more beneficial at a lower price point!

Fenty Skin - Is it worth it?
When Rihanna announced earlier this year that Fenty Skin would be launching, I was ready to purchase right away. Rihanna has mastered the makeup game, so I didn’t even second-guess the skincare line. When I bought these items and started testing them out, it was EXTREMELY important that I didn’t have any bias opinions simply because I love Rihanna. Do I think these items are worth it? Read below: FENTY SKIN - Total Cleans'r Remove-It-All Cleanser The first thing I noticed right away just like everyone else is the fragrance. It’s not a strong smell but it’s definitely there. I am not sensitive to fragrance but I personally don’t really like the smell for a cleanser. I also feel like I must do a second cleanse to make sure my face is clean. The only pro that I found from this product is that it removes makeup very well. Would I repurchase? Honestly… No. There’s other products that work better for less money. I’m currently half way through this product and will finish it up. FENTY SKIN - Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum This is my least favorite product from the line. As you can see the bottle is still full. I have oily skin, and it seems to cause my skin to produce even more oil. I don’t even know what to do with the product since it’s not a cheap product and I don’t want to just throw it away. Would I repurchase? No. FENTY SKIN - Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen If I had to pick my favorite product from the line it would be the moisturizer, especially because it has SPF. This product also has a scent, but my skin doesn’t react to it, and the scent blends away after application. After I apply it, my skin looks very moisturized and glowy! It really makes your skin look gorgeous. My skin does get oiler throughout the day when I use this product which is a bummer. Would I repurchase? Hmmm Maybe not. The main reason why I would not repurchase it is because the refill is only $5 dollar cheaper. I understand the concept for trying to reduce plastic use… but only a $5 difference? The moisturizer is $35 alone which is not cheap at all. There's plenty moisturizers out there that are wayyy cheaper and SPF. What are your thoughts on Fenty Skin?

One week of FENTY Skin
Let me start by saying, before I bought this I read review upon review, most of which were all positive(Although I’m finding most reviews have been bought and paid for on Sephora). The FENTY fans will praise any and everything she makes, so I had to try this for myself. I made the decision to ONLY use her 3 product skincare line for an entire week. I did however use micellular water, which shouldn’t make a difference. For the most part, I have very clear acne-free skin. My biggest skin concern is my moderate rosacea, mainly on my cheeks, but also on my nose and chin. Those of you who have rosacea, know how sensitive our skin can be, and usually stick to clinically approved poducts with little to no scent, and have to avoid certain acne treating chemicals etc. I was very excited to try her skincare line, specifically her FAT water. I’m a sucker for serums, and forever am trying to minimize my pores. So my overall thoughts after a week. My skin looks clear and very moisturized. I have that FENTY Glow. In fact, it looks so moisturized, I question wether it’s causing my skin to secrete more oil. My pores, specifically around my nose/cheeks, do appear to be minimized, which is what the Fat water claims to do, amongst other things. My rosacea however, is still apparent. No better no worse. To my surprise, the skincare did NOT irritate my skin. I was Specifically worried about the moisturizer with SPF. I have tried so many different SPF moisturizers over the years, and they have almost always broken me out with little red dots, and or have irritated/burned my rosacea cheeks. I did not have that issue with the FENTY moisturizer. Something else to note with the moisturizer, is that it has to be applied EVERY 2 HOURS in order for it to protect your skin....Ain’t nobody, got time for’ that! Not only that, the Moisturizer is only 30 SPF. I personally prefer 50 SPF or GTFO, not worth my time. Additionally, the moisturizer has this overpowering perfume smell. Rhianna said it smells like the spa, I say it smells like those cheap lotion packs you get during Christmas, that were probably $5 at Ross. If you know, you know. I am someone who doesn’t mind scent, so as long as the scent smells good. This is just not that great smelling IMO. Not only that, the scent doesn’t go away! Even over night, I was able to smell it when I woke up in the morning! The face wash was good, nothing to brag about. However, I do look forward to using it every night. Maybe that in itself says something. I attribute my liking to the product, because it has the same thick consistency/color and smell as Ole Henricksen’s Phat Glow Facial Mask. I’m almost convinced they’re the same product. I don’t wear heavy makeup, so I can’t speak on wether or not the face wash does a good job removing makeup/dirt. My face does feel fresh and clean afterwards. Will I continue using FENTY Skin, Yes. I would suggest the face wash and the toner serum, I would NOT however suggest the moisturizer.

FENTY SKIN⁣ ⁣ I hope you're not tired of seeing this trio because queen Rihanna launched Fenty Skin on 7/31 and I couldn't have been more shocked and excited when they reached out to me to try their new products⁣ ⁣ Fat Water - 5 fl oz | $28: This is a toner and serum all in one. 🏷 Beauty year in review 💖
2020 was and still is definitely a roller coaster. From me being excited that I was going into my senior year of college to having everything that comes with senior year ripped away. Not being able to physically graduate college was such a depressing thing especially because I am the first person in my family to graduate college. 2020 wasn’t all bad though, the only thing that really got me through quarantine was skincare. I always loved it but I got more in tune with it these past few months. I’ve been listening to my skin and beginning to understand it. I found out how good niacinamide was for the skin, and how bad physical exfoliates were so I switched to AHA, BHA. It’s really important to listen to and learn about your skin because then you can cater to its concerns. My favorite product this year has to be FENTY SKIN - Total Cleans'r Remove-It-All Cleanser I find myself reaching for it even if I wanted to use something else. My skin, like everyone’s, has its ups and downs but at the end of the day the better you treat your skin and better it looks and it feels. I can’t wait to see what 2021 has in store, but I’m also a little scared.

A Fenty Skin review by an Esthetician.
I want to start off by saying that I love Rihanna and feel honored to be the select few to receive the skincare line before the launch to offer my honest opinion and review. Before getting into the products I have to rave about the packaging. The color is a beautiful matte purple. The cleanser and toner have a twist-top lid so that means no more juggling with tubes and their tops. The sunscreen comes with a refill cartridge that slots right into a pump. FENTY SKIN - Total Cleans'r Remove-It-All Cleanser The texture is really rich and creamy and you don’t need a lot of it so a little goes a long way. As soon as some water is mixed with the creamy texture you get an amazing luxurious lather. It contains Barbados Cherry (so appropriate for Rihanna) which is going to help brighten the skin. The cleanser also contains Ginkgo Biloba which helps to control surface oils and clarify skin. The Green Tea and Fig are very rich in antioxidants which help defend against environmental stressors. I love how the cleanser felt on my skin and did not leave it feeling dry and stripped of oils With this being said the cleanser does contain fragrance, dyes, and sulfates. This can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions to sensitive and acne-prone skin types. The scent is also fairly strong and for me too much to handle. If you wanted to pick 1 product to buy it would be this one. FENTY SKIN - Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum So one of the top ingredients is niacinamide which can help neutralize free radicals and help to improve discoloration. It also contains Barbados Cherry so it contains antioxidants to protect your skin. What I didn’t like to see was witch hazel on the ingredient list and as the main ingredient. Witch Hazel can completely strip the skins barrier and with the fragrance and dyes included I do recommend my sensitive skin types to steer clear. FENTY SKIN - Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen This is the product I was most excited to receive and looking forward to. The fact that Rihanna included sunscreen in her first three products launched makes me very happy. I love the fact that it comes in refillable packaging. I am obsessed with the fact that it is a moisturizer and sunscreen in one so it saves you an entire step. Which that being said it is a chemical sunscreen, but does not contain oxybenzone so I can live with it. It’s an amazing sunscreen especially for people of color because it rubs in beautifully with no white cast. The sunscreen contains niacinamide and hyaluronic acid so it’s very hydrating but again I personally am not a fan of chemical sunscreen. It can be irritating to sensitive skin and make acne worse for acne- prone skin Overall ,Rihanna really tried to create a skincare starter kit for the majority and her focus was to create especially something that worked for people of color. She focused on great ingredients for the skin. The bottom line “ it’s not for me”

Rihanna can do no wrong
Rihanna can do no wrong
The skincare line by Rihanna recently came out and I was able to test it for a month before the official release. I have been using each product for about 6 weeks now and I can honestly say that I love every single one of them! The Total Cleans’r Remove It All Cleanser does just that for me (i have combo/oily skin). I tried it as a stand-alone and as a second cleanse. It did a good job both ways honestly but as a stand-alone, I did cleanse with it twice to make sure it all came off- so I think as a second cleanser it’s a better option. The Fat Water is a pore-refining toner serum. This is my second favorite product! It feels so nice on my skin and makes it feel plump. I really love that it’s on the thicker side. The Hydra Vizor Moisturizer and SPF is my favorite product out of the 3. I love that Rihanna released an SPF as part of an initial launch! This one is so good- it melts into your skin so nicely. I put on makeup over it and i was glowing! ✨ Overall, I love the initial release and I can’t wait to see what else they will be releasing in the future! If you want to pick up one product out of the 3, I definitely suggest either the hydra vizor or the fat water.

I wish I loved this!
I wish I loved this!
This was gifted to me in PR. I was most excited for this toner and had very high hopes because of previous reviews I’ve seen and the ingredients sounded amazing. I have oily, dehydrated, sensitive/acne prone skin, and this unfortunately does not suit me. I’ve been using this for three days. The second ingredient is witch hazel- very unusual given the other amazing ingredients this is masking. It claims to brighten, protect and perfect pores with niacinamide, barbados acerola cherry, cactus flower, and green tea - all of which are under witch hazel on the inci list. The witch hazel dehydrates my skin, and I woke up the first night with a flaky nose, which never happens to me, even being on drying acne treatments. In order to use this product, I have to add more hydrating/repairing products into my routine and it’s just not worth it for the upkeep. I’d rather use a hydrating niacinamide serum. Unless you don’t have dry/dehydrated skin, definitely look into this because you may like it more than me!

fenty skin early impressions 🛀🏿
fenty skin early impressions 🛀🏿
i am a huge fan of fenty beauty, so i was curious about the fenty skin line. i’ve been using the products exclusively for the last few days to formulate my early perspectives. here are my thoughts: FENTY SKIN - Total Cleans'r Remove-It-All Cleanser is my favorite product in the bunch, and this was the product i was most excited to try. the texture is really delightful (creamy but not overly whipped), and the scent is really unique (like a cocoa / coconut / berry scent - very tropical). if you are sensitive to scent or color, you should swatch test this first, but i haven’t been bothered by these adds. i usually use gel cleansers so i was delightfully surprised by this product. it did an A1 job of cleansing my skin - i felt clean but not stripped. i would still recommend double cleansing if you’re wearing makeup. FENTY SKIN - Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum - like so many others, i wanted to LOVE this product. the serum texture is so lovely - it definitely lived up to its name of ‘fat water.’ i used this during the daytime, which is when i normally apply a toner. it does take a minute to dry down, but i kind of liked that. i was not super impressed by the addition of witch hazel, which i have posted about separately. as a dry skin girl, i have to be mindful of astringents. i didn’t feel like this was overly drying, but i wonder what long-term use of this product might do. FENTY SKIN - Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen is an interesting combo. i prefer to have a separate sunscreen, but SPF 30 is a good concentration. since there is SPF in this product, i also only used this during my AM routine, and i didn’t notice any white cast or awkwardness with this product. this product has a nice texture and thickness, and i LOVED the container. i wish that more brands experimented with packaging sustainability. (all 3 of the products had really fun and unique packaging and output points.) i purchased these as a set for $75, and i feel like it was a good use of $$ for a starter kit. i think that this would be a wonderful gift for someone just starting their skincare journey, particularly if they have oily skin (because of some of the astringent ingredients). so far, i would be interested in repurchasing the cleanser, and i hope that fenty skin considers creating another toner with dry skin in mind (much like they did with my beloved hydrating foundation).
