Worst product I’ve tried this year
FINALLY FINISHED THIS PRODUCT OMG!! Didn’t mean to post 2 negative reviews in a row but well here we are. So I just wanna say that just because this product didn’t work for me doesn’t mean it won’t work for you. I have normal to oily skin but my skin is also sensitive and gets irritated easily so I do like products that claim to be gentle. My issue with the HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser

My “Ordinary” Journey
My skincare routine needed a revamp but I didn’t know where to start. I wanted to use products with good ingredients but I know many companies “green wash” to make you believe all their ingredients are great. I did lots of research and decided to give The Ordinary a try. A little background on my skin: I have aging skin (I’m pushing 38) and it’s been on the dryer side since having kids. I also tend to get peri-oral dermatitis every winter. Then of course, I still get occasional breakouts! Yay hormones 😜 In September, as I was running out of my current skincare products, I replaced them with The Ordinary. I chose HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser as I didn’t want anything to harsh or stripping on my dry skin. After I cleanse, I mist my face with HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Spray then apply The Ordinary - Matrixyl* 10% + HA Because this contains HA, it should be applied to damp skin. On top of that I apply The Ordinary - "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% I gave this 4 stars because it’s sooooo sticky and takes a while to dry down before I can move to my next step. After that drys, I go for The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I may not have clear skin all of the time, but when I do get blemishes, they clear up very quickly. This stuff is amazing! I follow that with The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and COOLA - Classic Full Spectrum 360 Sun Silk Drops SPF 30 Since starting this routine, my skin looks so much better when I apply makeup and when I don’t wear any, My skin tone much more even. And this year, as winter approached, I did not develop peri-oral dermatitis. My skin retains moisture so much better than it ever has.
Tretinoin and Spironolactone Progress July-Dec
I’m back! And wow what a difference! I’ve since switched upped my dosage to Apostrophe 0.05% tret with 4% Niacinimide cream forumula beginning in November. I’m also taking 50 mg of Spirinolactone now. My face has definitively gotten a lot drier, with some mild peeling throughout the day (any tips are welcome!) I’m going to see how waiting 15 mins before apply tret after moisturizer and 15 minutes after tret will work Overall, I feel like my forehead has a smoother texture, and I’m seeing less breakouts. I now definitely want to start working on reducing the appearance of my acne scars, but with my face so dry right now, I’m not sure if that’s an option. I’m going to wait a while and talk to my derm about adding in any actives. Also very sad about the Purito sunscreen scandal :-( Here’s my routine below: Morning (focus on hydration and barrier) CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum HONEST - Hydrogel Cream BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum BRUJITA - Vegan Crema Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 Night (applying tret nightly-wondering whether to reduce to every other day ) DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser (or COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser ) dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Then putting BRUJITA - Vegan Crema on my driest areas Apostrophe Cream BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum BRUJITA - Vegan Crema
My new favorite first cleanse
I am SO picky (rather, my sensitive, acne-prone skin is) when it comes to cleansers. Yes, all cleansers! Even in my first cleansing step. It should be no surprise that my recent favorite cleansing oil/balm is from Biossance: BIOSSANCE - Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil their squalane formulas just agree with my skin. This is only my second experience with an oil cleanser (my first experience was clinique’s liquid “take the day off” formula which is not cruelty free) and I am impressed! I apply 2 pumps to dry skin in the PM to dissolve my sunscreen and any makeup I might be wearing. After about 30-60 seconds of massaging that around my face, I add warm water to emulsify the cleanser off of my skin. It does turn a very translucent milky color and then I immediately follow up with a water-based cleanser (usually a gel formula) to make sure everything is washed off properly. It does not have a scent and it is a very lightweight oil at that! I have been using this for about 4 weeks and I have noticed my blackheads and sebaceous filaments are actually diminished in size as well. I am incredibly impressed with this formula. At $30 for 6.7oz I believe it is a complete steal!! Biossance’s formulas agree with my skin so well and I am excited to continue using this for quite some time... My only gripe with this product, and why I have to rate it 4/5 stars, is that I am using it up way too quickly compared to other first/oil/balm cleansers I’ve used in the past. I have been using it for about 3-4 weeks and I’m already almost 1/3 through this bottle. The problem is that to get all my spf and makeup off I need to use at least 2 pumps.

My Post Workout Double Cleansing Duo
I enjoy daily workouts and activities. My post-workout double cleansing duo is complimentary of @boscia What is double cleansing? In a nutshell, it’s cleansing twice to remove dirt, grime, and pollutants off the skin. First cleanse is with an oil-based cleanser (remove pollutants, SPF, and makeup) and then second cleanse is with a non oil-based cleanser. My combination, acne-prone skin has thrived using the double cleansing method for over two years. Makeup- Breakup Cool Cleansing Oil is lightweight, which I love in an oil-based cleanser. I add to my face dry and slowly work it into a milky cleanser by adding water to my fingertips. It washers away clean and easy. Key Ingredients: ▪️Green Tea ▪️Rosehip ▪️Avocado & Olive Fruit Oil Cryosea Firming Icy- Cold Cleanser is the ⭐️ of my cleansing show! I love this cleanser as my second cleanse and as my post workout cleanser. It’s a perfect summer time cool down cleanser. It’s cool, refreshing, and doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped. Key Ingredients: ▫️AHAs ▫️Menthol ▫️Jojoba Seed Extract ▫️ Peppermint Oil (warning if sensitive to EOs)

Acne Be Gone
They Inkey List Salicylic Acid Cleanser claims to reduce blockheads, acne breakouts and promote and more even complexion. 🔑Key Ingredients~ 2% Salicylic Acid~ gently exfoliates the skin and helps unclog pores. Zinc Compound~Helps reduce extra sebum and has anti-inflammatory properties. Allantoin~ Helps sooth irritation and stimulates new cell growth. Use~ You can use in the Am and Pm. (Depending on the Level of your sensitivity, I recommend started out slow using it a few times a week) Massage a small amount on face and neck in aCircular motion Rinse and apply serums and Moisturizers 🚨 FYI~ Doctors advise skipping salicylic acid during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as trace amounts of the ingredient can be absorbed into the bloodstream. 🚨 Tip~When using a strong salicylic acid you should be mindful of the rest of your skin routine. When using a strong exfoliate like Salicylic Acid, you should scale down on other exfoliates (like brushes, scrubs or devices. Over exfoliation can break down your skin Barrier, which can further inflammation and dryness. 💭Thoughts~i got this in a Cherie box and have used the entire bottle. I highly recommend this to anybody with oily, and acne prone skin. People with sensitive skin, dry skin and rosacea like I have should use it sparingly, as it can cause dryness. I use it up to 3 to 4 times a week on my face & neck, if I use over that and my face will start to get dry. Afterwards I use grace and Stella hyaluronic serum and then Elemis moisturizer. I love it, even though i have to be careful, it leaves my face feel renewed, acne free and soft, and it’s only $10.00. THE inkey LIST - Salicylic Acid Acne + Pore Cleanser #CherieCreator

Ole Henriksen Truth Foam Cleanser A1?
I had multiple breakouts the past few days and the day before yesterday I got my package for my foam cleanser and decided to use it as soon as possible since I think one of the cleansers I used irritated my face. I usually do a double cleanse with an oil based cleanser then the Ole Henriksen foam cleanser. I swear that this cleanser worked wonders as I slept.. my pimples have surprisingly shrunk and my skin is softer than ever. I woke up feeling so happy knowing my skin actually feels calm and less irritated! Love how gentle it is even the texture speaks volumes for it. I got mine on sale for $24 on Ole site but original price is $30, for a huge bottle is so much worth it than the extra 2-3 products to get rid of a pimples. 🧡 I just found my staple cleanser 🥺

the best balm in town
cleansing balms were huge for me this year and the BANILA CO - Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm Original is a stand out! this one in particular is great to not only remove any sunscreen and makeup but all impurities in one simple step! It’s non stripping and leaves your skin feeling refreshed, soothed and still hydrated. x I personally struggle with combo oily skin, sensitive skin and rosacea and I feel like this would be perfect for anyone who struggles with the same concerns. It’s not harsh at all and when using, it melts so beautifully and glides on the skin. x texture wise it is very rich can seem a little thick but it honestly feels so lightweight. it’s very creamy and the way it melts is perfection. x overall, I absolutely love this. I have been using this for about six months now with no issues. It didn’t break me out, it was fantastic and cleaning my face and helping me feel refreshed after a long day and I always love recommending this to others! Cleansing oils are great don’t get me wrong, but something about a balm is just *chefs kiss*. I think they are a great product to have in your collection and the great thing about this brand in particular, is that they have many varieties such as the purity, original, revitalizing and nourishing so there really is one suitable for all! 💘 More helpful information: it retails for 24 dollars on the banila co website and it’s also available on many other online platforms! Banila Co, you definitely are a 10/10 🥰🤩

Formula 10.0.6: a new type of cleanser!
🙋♀️ Calling everyone who is secretly lazy but still struggles with acne! Don’t let that dirt build up. Jk, I can’t tell you that because I’m guilty of it too! I am switching my skin care up soon, but this has been a must have for me for a while. ✨cleanser✨ So this is a “cleansing” product, and it works great for double cleansing routines or on the go quick care. If I don’t have time in the morning to do an entire routine, I use a cotton pad with a few dots of product and gently swipe over my face. It’s similar to an astringent, so I wouldn’t recommend making this your sole cleansing product. ✨pros✨ Formula 10.0.6 products are always in the affordable price range! Salicylic Acid!!! We love that for oil build up and acne reduction. 💕💕 Quick application. Can be easily added into a routine as a double cleanser. ✨cons✨ tends to sting or tingle a bit with overuse/new use. will become drying without a moisturizer. I would not recommend using it alone if you get dry skin. strong scent
