Acne Skincare Routine ✨

Hey y’all! In today’s post I’ll be reviewing my followers skincare routines! I went through some of y’all’s accounts in search of some routines, then messaged everyone to make sure they were okay with me using their routines in this post! This is only pt. 1 because this post got wayyy to long to include everyone at once! Let me start by saying I’m not an esthetician or dermatologist, nor have I ever claimed to be. I am just a fellow skincare lover who knows a lot about ingredients in skincare. We’re starting off with @Chloe_McRae. Sometimes she decides to double cleanse, and when she does she starts with the#Holifrog - Kissimmee Vitamin F Therapy Balmy Wash[products]#[FourStars] which is $42 for 2.5 fl oz. This has a ton of great hydrating oils, as well as Vitamin F, which is great for helping cell turnover. I would say it’s a great first cleanse for those with dry skin. Next she uses theDRUNK ELEPHANT - Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser Deluxe Sample which is $32. I would say this is a good cleanser. The cleansing agents are gentle and non stripping, and it also has glycerin which is hydrating, and cantaloupe fruit extract which is a hydrating extract full of antioxidants. Other than that, this is a pretty basic cleanser. Next she uses the HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial l which is $58. Because the name is confusing, it’s a gel face mask. This stuff looks gorgeous and the ingredients are too. Along with AHA and BHA, it has aloe and rose water which help your skin to retain moisture. I don’t think it’s worth $58, but it’s pretty good. Next is the PEACH & LILY - Wild Dew Treatment Essence which is $39 for 3.38 fl oz. This essence has glycerin, Nicinamide, and Hylaronic acid. For $39 I expected a lot more. In general, essence is less effective than a serum, so this seems a little expensive for what you get. Then comes theDRUNK ELEPHANT - Sweet Biome Fermented Sake Hydrating Spray which is $42. Yes, $42 for a face mist. Now looking at the ingredients this has glycerin and a small amount of Hylaronic acid. The rest of the ingredients are extracts. Thankfully there isn’t fragrance, but this is a no because it’s so expensive. And finally is the COSRX - BHA Blackhead Power Liquid which is $24. Really this has some Willow water and Nicinamide and that’s it. Okay I freaked out at this point. Nowhere in this routine is sunscreen or moisturizer!!! Nooooo!! We need less acids and more of the basics. Overall I’d say this routine has too many steps. I think you could simplify down to a double cleanse, a cheap but good serum with Hylaronic acid and Nicinamide which seem to be the ingredients that work well for your skin, and the a moisturizer and some spf. Our next routine comes from @WillWorkforMascara. She starts her routine with theCeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin w is $17. This product is great for oily skin, which she has. It has glycerin, nicinamide, and Hylaronic acid so it’s super hydrating. Next she usesThe Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution witch is $8.70. Along with glycolic acid, it has aloe vera water and glycerin. Some people think it’s overly stripping, but for oily skin its great. Now this is where this routine becomes international. She goes in with theMUJI - Boosting Essence Lotion which is $7 for 50 ml. This essence has aloe vera juice and glycerin. It does have quite a bit of fragrance though which makes it a no from me. Next she goes in with the#Pearlessence - Argan Oil + Vitamin E facial oil[products]#[ThreeStars] which is $11.89 for 1.83 fl oz. This product has two ingredients. Vitamin E and Argan oil. Now this is where we really go international. #Human Nature - Sunflower Eye Cream[products]#[TwoStars] and found out that 295 Cuban Peso is $12.29. Now as for the ingredients this eye cream has sunflower oil and glycerin. And fragrance. Fragrance can especially be irritating around the eye area so this is another no. Instead try some thing likeTHE inkey LIST - Caffeine Eye Cream She also uses a eyebrow and eyelash oil called Peach Thy Lash which is 150 Cuban Peso or $6.25. I don’t know anything about this kind of product so I can’t really say if it works. And finally is theLANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask which is $22. This mask has Vitamin C, Hylaronic acid, and glycerin. It seems good to me, but this sort of product is more about the experience, and I haven’t tried it. Again! We need moisturizer and sunscreen! This one also has too many steps so let’s simplify it to cleanser, toner, moisturizer, sunscreen, eyelash oil, and lip mask. Since my progress post I’d figure I’d show that even those who have promoted they’ve healed their acne that it may and can be just for a moment, a month or a year and things can change in your life that could eventually alter your skin yet again. During the summer my skin was doing real good except the occasional monthly pimples from my period. However these past 2 months I’ve been breaking out along my jawline, chin, mouth and a little on the cheeks. It’s been pretty frustrating because I felt like I was me again and then boom I’m back to feeling insecure. I am currently testing new products to see a difference and changing/adding supplements and vitamins to help and will hope to update in a few months ! All I can say is that I am unemotional about this round of acne... and I think it helps to have a great support system to keep you positive because at the end of the day we are all beautiful no matter what may appear on our faces 😊 New products: COSRX - BHA Blackhead Power Liquid Helping with my pores and bringing my acne to surface Beauty of Joseon - Calming Serum : Green Tea + Panthenol Soothing my inflammatory acne YEOUTH - Retinol Serum with Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E and Aloe Vera Really excited to finally add a retinol and this one is great- not $$$ and absorbs nicely (won’t see full effects until another 2-3 weeks) Apart from that my routine has stayed the same and the rest of my face is pretty clear!

I try and show my skin with new routines and products I use because I get so many ! The number one thing I will say is be consistent! I saw a post from @MelaninSkinCareAddict(great post you should go check it out) and I loved it and it inspired me to show results from some advice she saw. My last skin update was 12/22 which I showed a unfiltered close up of my skin and the breakout I had endure out of the states! I will say for texture, hyperpigmentation, and acne you need: effective vitamin C serum- should have vitamin E (tocopherol), hyaluronic acid, and Ferulic acid insta natural - Vitamin C Serum Mad Hippie - Vitamin C Serum retinol- DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel is my first go to, but now I use The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane GLOW RECIPE - Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Face Mask (I use this on nights I don’t use The Ordinary retinol oil .. 2xs a week) cleanser made for you skin: should be tailored and effective my current faves: Murad - AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser (2x week) COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser (only when I oil cleanse) (3xs a weeks when I wear my night mask) PEACH & LILY - Power Calm Hydrating Gel Cleanser (mostly for nights) toner: a great toner will be your friend! This is important for removing dirts and oils. If you wear makeup this is a necessity. PAULA'S CHOICE - Enriched Calming Toner Murad - Clarifying Toner innisfree - Jeju Lava Seawater Lotion sunscreen: at least spf30 TULA SKINCARE - Daily Sunscreen Gel Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ELEMIS - Daily Defence Shield SPF30 moisturizer: a great moisturizer is your friend! So my faves fresh - Lotus Anti-Aging Night Moisturizer at night SUNDAY RILEY - Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream during the day for hyperpigmentation before sunscreen ✨✨✨✨ Other things I love that have helped COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence I use this day and night after my toner. If you neee hydration this is my current go to! SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Acne Treatment Face Oil I now use this on days I don’t use my vitamin C in the morning. PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum This has replaced my niacinamide from The Ordinary. If you want glass skin use this consistently! I’m going to be posting a lot of Christmas themed stuff because I feel so behind 😭 THANKS @cheriefor this AMAZING GIFT ! Y’all know a love a great toner! I also have been getting more into Murad 💚 My acne showed off in Korea (definitely due to the difference of air quality) so when I got back I couldn’t wait to get back into my skincare routine. I used this toner twice since I’ve gotten it and ... Murad - Clarifying Toner Is AMAZING .. I used it during my morning routine and it works wonders! Ingredients: Witch Hazel: witch hazel is not as bad as people seem! Especially when formulated right! Algae Extract: reduces shine and oiliness Grapeseed extract: helps to reduce free radical damage Vitamin E: great for fine lines and skin nourishment Okay! So my skin has been leaning towards more oily since I got back from Korea. ✨I do not use anything with witch hazel on my dry areas So I only used this on my forehead, nose, & jawline! 🤞🏾Initial thoughts/results This has a cooling sensation. I’m not sure of anyone else experienced this? It also was slightly drying, but I don’t really to much worry about this since I have serums that replenish moisture! It didn’t have a smell and more pores do seem less noticeable! Please be aware that Murad sales their products in SYSTEMS! If you are looking for a good regimen that will give better results I suggest buying their entire system before giving full judgment!

Hi all, Around the first week of December 2020 I decided to start trying Differin Adapalene Gel to address my skin concerns. As some of my previous posts explain, I’ve struggled badly with oily skin, blackheads, extremely enlarged pores, and occasional acne, most of my teenage years and into my adult life (I’m 26 now). I have tried SO many products to try and help curb my issues (see previous posts for examples), and though they’ve helped a little, I’ve never been fully satisfied with the results... my skin is just stubborn! I decided to swap my retinol for Differin to see if it would target my issues a little bit better and JEEZ has this been a journey so far... So to be completely blunt, I’m discouraged. If you look at the attached photo, the picture with all the acne is me NOW. Yes, RIGHT NOW. The one WITHOUT explosive acne is my BEFORE Differin skin. Okay, now I’ll get into it... So it’s been about 9 weeks since I’ve started on Differin. In the beginning I noticed my skin was starting to feel really sensitive, which it never is. Any other product (Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, etc.) felt like burning when I put it on, which is incredibly strange for me. My skin has been consistently pink ever since. I immediately stopped using any BHA, AHA or any harsh acid while using Differin and made sure to SLATHER on reparative moisturizer to help repair my skin barrier. Basically my skin routine needed to stripped to the bare minimum. Throughout the weeks, my skin flaked and peeled excessively, especially with makeup on. It looked SO dry and awful and felt stingy underneath (still does). Then about 3 weeks in, the purging started. It started off slow and erupted to where it’s at now on February 11, 2021. Purge pimples are so strange compared to my sporadic cystic acne bumps I’m used to getting. Purging shows up in a big breakout cluster of pimples, mostly small (not always), but definitely painful and brutal looking for me. Over the weeks it just got worse and worse. I’m getting pimples all in the same place for the most part — my lower cheek areas. It has been tumultuous and my skin has never looked this terrible in my whole life. I’ve done my research on Differin, and everyone says it is completely normal for your skin to get worse before it gets better (for me, A LOTTTTT worse). I’m hoping this is true because I really want to stick this out — I’ve already gone through the worst of it, might as well wait it out a bit longer. If you’re interested in Differin, just be prepared for what you’re getting into! I’m sure this will all be worth it but wanted to share my experience and help others with the SHOOKness that may or may not happen. For #fridayfavorites I want to highlight a #cultfavorite COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser After hearing so many good things about this cleanser I had to try it. I ordered it from Stylevana and was happy that the order arrived in a week! For 11 CAD I think it’s value for money considering how good this cleanser is. It’s very gentle on my skin and I tend to use this cleanser more often than others. It has a gel like consistency and is not too foamy and a little goes a long way. It washes away impurities without stripping my skin. It has a low PH which is said to be effective in protecting our skin’s acid mantle. #acidmantle protects the skin from harmful bacteria that can cause acne and other skin problems. Low ph cleansers are also good for people with eczema and dryness. FUN FACT: did you know this product was crowd sourced!! Customers gave feedback to @cosrx asking for a low ph cleanser and they delivered! So far I am super happy with how my skin is looking! I started on January 6, and today is February 16. The end of my 90 days will be either at the end of March or at the beginning of April, so I’m about halfway there. The struggle for me right now is that my skin changes day to day. One day I will wake up with lots of cystic pimples, and one dat, like today, my skin will have none. I definitely still have dark marks, but I’m okay with that for now! As long as they aren’t active I am happy lol. I still seem to get acne flares on my period, which is discouraging considering Spironolactone is for hormonal acne. I’m just trying to trust the process🧐 I realized that I haven’t talked about my daily morning and night routine, so here it is! Morning: -cleanse with either PEACH & LILY - Power Calm Hydrating Gel Cleanser or CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser -moisturize with either PEACH & LILY - Matcha Pudding Antioxidant Cream or FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream Minis Original & Cranberry Pomegranate -apply spf with Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 -my makeup routine At night: -remove makeup with DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil -cleanse with CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser -moisturize with FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream Minis Original & Cranberry Pomegranate -apply a pea sized amount of .025% Tretinoin formula from Apostrophe - Topical Formula -and of course some Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant on my lips before bed!

I've used this cleanser for more than a week now and although I don't mind it, I don't love it. There are times where it feels fine and other times where it makes my skin slightly tight (like with a hot shower or waiting a little longer to put on other steps in the routine). I have tried other cleansers that always feel gentle regardless the circumstance (reviews on some of them to come). Overall not bad and I'll finish it up, but not a repurchase for me

PureHeals - Propolis Sleeping Pack This came in the Korean Beauty Box my sister gave me for Christmas. So this is a confusing product only because I have no idea where to put it in my routine. The box says to do it after toner and let it sink in but the instructions sheet says to use it after moisturizer.... I’ve done it both ways but I’ve mostly been using it after moisturizer to kind of seal that in I guess. I also have a lot of skincare products that say “apply to clean dry skin” and I can’t possibly apply all of them to clean dry skin because there’s more that one product I use for my dry skin, so I dunno. That’s my little rant 😂 I do like this though, it gives me an extra moisture boost and my skin is a little less flaky in the morning. This has a gel texture so a little goes a long way, and this also comes with a cute little spatula thing so you don’t have to go into the product with your fingers.

For Christmas this year my sister got a me a Korean Beauty Box from Facetory x FYE! FYE sells it but the box is curated by FYE so there’s a few different brands in there. I feel like this is absolutely perfect for me, my skin is crazy dry and lately my hair has been super weird, I’m not sure if t it’s because my skin is drier than ever but I’ve seen some extremely mild dandruff which I’ve never had before. This box came with three sheet masks, one sleeping mask, one hair “scalp scaler” and a bunny hair band! I’m planning on doing separate reviews for the sleeping mask and the hair product but the face masks will all be reviewed here because it’s hard to do a review when it’s for a one time use product. I really love all the items in here and honestly would’ve bought it on my own if I knew about it. I highly recommend going to FYE and picking one up! #Rated Green - Real Mary Cole Brew Rosemary Purifying Scalp Scaler[products]# PureHeals - Propolis Sleeping Pack #Facetory - Let’s Talk Vitality Firming Mask[products]# #EssenHerb - Canola Honey Mask[products]#[FiveStars] #FaceTory - Oh My Goodness Rejuvenating Snail Mask[products]# The first mask I used was the EssenHerb Canola Mask. This mask’s key ingredients are honey extract to keep skin hydrated and soft, as well as providing antioxidants, and Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract, which has soothing properties. I left this on for 20 minutes and oh my goodness my skin was so smooth and felt so hydrated! I would absolutely buy it again, this really felt nice. I did it at night and the difference when I woke up was dramatic. A+!

CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin Hey guys I’m going to be reviewing one of the newer cleansers from CeraVe. I’m going to be giving some background information on it, and of course my personal experience. Leave a like if you enjoyed! Background information: One of the main ingredients of this product is Salicylic Acid. (If you couldn’t tell y the products name) Salicylic Acid is an ingredient commonly used in products that want to deal with blackheads, pore problems, and any sort of irritation. The ingredient is very soothing to the skin, and is good at digging deep into your pores and getting all the gunk out. It is also a form of chemical exfoliation which is really healthy for your skin if you do it not too often. Other ingredients in this product include Niacinamide, and glycerin. Glycerin is a hydrating ingredient while Niacinamide focuses more on oil production and pore problems. My personal experience: I started using this product late August 2020. I was super excited to use this light chemical exfoliant cleanser for such a long time, and I was happy I finally had gotten my hands on it. The first time I had washed my face with it i could feel the texture of my skin smoothen. This cleanser is very gentle, and even though the ingredient list is super simple, it’s very effective and does a good job with your skin concerns. Over time blackheads seemed to fade away more, and the texture of my skin continued to get smoother. I’d recommend this product to anyone who had blackhead problems or pore problems, or anyone with acne in general. It’s super light and gets rid of excess makeup if your micellar water or makeup balm didn’t clean off all your makeup. I love this and will be repurchasing in the future. Salicylic acid is a life saver ingredient, and I’m sure it will work for others as good as it worked for me! They sell this on Ulta, Sephora, and at Target! Try it out guys and let me know what you think!

Hey guys, I’m going to be reviewing my 2021 winter skincare routine! PURITO - Comfy Water Sun Block This sunscreen is my go to. It’s so light and amazing, and really does the job. Keeping those UV rays without even being able to tell I have a sunscreen on. This sunscreen leaves no white cast either. Amazing! Mineral sunscreens are very sustainable as well. CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin I’ve been using this Salicylic Acid based cleanser for a couple months now, and can for sure tell the difference of the texture of my skin, and my pores. I’ll be also posting a full review of this product as well. No fragrance, and gets all the dirt and excess makeup off my skin. Amazing and no bad reactions! The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I’ve already reviewed this serum, so you can scroll down my account to see my opinion, but it is amazing. Super hydrating, light, a little tacky feel at first (takes a second to absorb into my skin) but afterwards I have a plump and hydrated feeling throughout my skin! The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I started using this serum late July 2020. So far, no bad thoughts about it. This serum is super light, and really makes a difference. I’ll also be posting a full review on this product. A big difference in my pores since before I started using it. Less clogged pores, and a much smoother texture skin in problematic areas. CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream This is my favorite winter moisturizer. It’s super thick, and absorbs well into my skin. It leaves me skin with a nice and soft feel to it. Using this moisturizer during the winter is amazing because it leaves my skin very hydrated throughout the whole day without any dry patches! CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream I’ve been using this since the summer of 2020, and I haven’t noticed much of a difference. You could probably just use your moisturizer as an eye cream, because I can’t tell a difference in my skin. I’m not going to waste it though and I’ll finish it off. Otherwise just use moisturizer as an eye cream. Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant Lastly, my favorite lip balm. The best way to keep your lips moisturized all year long is to use this product. I haven’t had any cracked lips or lip problems in years since I started using this product. Amazing and will never stop using Aquaphor!

As you can probably tell from my recent posts, I’m a BIG fan of Sunday Riley. My skin was feeling congested today when I was trying to decide what mask to use, and I remembered seeing this DIY mask in the Sunday Community I’m a part of! How to: I squirted about a quarter-sized amount of SUNDAY RILEY - Ceramic Slip Cleanserinto my palm, then added about a 1/2 dropper’s worth of SUNDAY RILEY - U.F.O. Acne Treatment Face Oiland a light squeeze of SUNDAY RILEY - Saturn Sulfur Spot Treatment Mask...I mixed it all together until it was combined and spread on my face. It glided on so nicely! Leave on for 20-30 minutes and then add water to lather and then rinse off! Next time I do this mask I’ll remember to take a pic of how much I used of each 🤦🏼‍♀️ sorry!
