Do you know your skin letters?
As a fan of psychology, I’ve always been intrigued by the Meyer-Briggs Personality types (I’m an ENFP✨). So when I came across this the Baumann Skin Types I was so excited to break it down. What you need to know: 📍(D)ry vs. (O)ily: After you wash your face how does it feel afterwards (throughout the day)? Ive posted about how to find your skin care type, but this is really important to understand. (Sorry for my fellow combo babes but you have to pick a side!) 📍(S)ensitive vs. (R)esistant: Do fragrances trigger you? Do you find certain things give you rashes? Do you experience abnormal redness? Then you’re a sensitive skin type. On the other hand if your skin is resilient then lower concentration of products don’t have a big effect on your skin and you can withstand a lot of ingredients. 📍(P)igmented vs. (N)on-pigmented: Dark marks or hyperpigmentation? You’re a P Even skin tone? You’re a N 📍(W)rinkle-Prone vs. (T)Ight: If you’re wrinkle-prone, you will notice various fine lines and well.. wrinkles, then you’re a W. If you’re tight, you have a overall smooth complexion. So you’re a T (When deciding this, remember sun exposure, age, genetics, ethnicity, and other habits are important.) So after this little review my letters are: ✨DRPT (Dry Resistant Pigmented Tight) #13 My skin is currently more on the dry side (due to the weather and my amount of actives). It’s also very resistant because fragrances, and other skin allergens do not bother me. I’m definitely pigmented (acne scars and extra melanin) and my skin is overall tight ( I only have a few fine lines under my eyes that are really genetic and lack of wearing sunscreen) What’s your letters ? 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾
Do Ingredients Really Matter?
The short answer - yes. No matter what you’ve heard, ingredients do matter in one way or another. BUT just because something is “natural” doesn’t mean it’s good for you and vice versa; if something contains an ingredient like alcohol or a “chemical” it doesn’t mean it’s terrible for you (nearly every ingredient is some form of a chemical, they’re not all bad or harmful). Think about the dose, think about how it’s preserved, think about what it’s uses are, how in interacts with other ingredients, if your skin is sensitive to said ingredient, etc. This is where educating yourself really comes into play and it is something I am still learning to do. No matter who you ask, they will have an opinion (sometimes a very strong one) on ingredients in beauty products. I am all for everyone forming their own opinions and staying true to what they believe in. You may choose to believe that clean beauty is simply a marketing tactic used by brands to sell products and that people who believe in clean beauty are naïve or brainwashed; you may believe just the opposite. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but please remember it’s just that - your opinion. Share with others, join the conversation; we all have a right to believe however we choose and learning from each other is all part of the experience :) #CherieConversations

Save my hair!
I've always been really insecure about my hair. I straightened it every day throughout high school and years later my hair is still suffering 😔 I'm not sure what hair type I have I think maybe 2b? It's been color treated in the past so the bottom 50% of my hair is damaged as a result. I guess I'm just looking for advice on how to make my hair soft, hydrated, and more manageable? Thanks in advance ❤️❤️
$10K FOR 10K!
In celebration of Cherie reaching 10K followers, we've added $10K to our Future Beauty Fund, going towards small beauty service businesses. So, in addition to the top 10 businesses receiving $5K, the NEXT top 10 (places 11-20) will receive $1K. Get to voting for LA beauty service businesses on Cherie now! Only a few days left of voting!

As a woman of color the current events are hitting me a little different. Although, this sickening actions of law enforcement KEEPS happening, due to recent events, WE ARE TIRED! I know Cherie is a platform for beauty lovers & professionals to express themselves & post reviews on their favorite products etc. but whatever platform I have to utilize my voice I’m going to use it!!!! My heart goes out to any families that were affected by these hateful racial crimes! I must say though, I am loving how we ALL can unite! No matter what color or sexual status! We are all 1 at the end of the day! We are all human! We ALL bleed, and we ALL BLEED RED! Let’s continue to stand together against oppression of all kinds & continue to stand together! 🖤✊🏾
