Double Cleansing Worsens Acne!!!!!
To ๐ฑ๐ผ๐๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฑ or not: that is the question!!!
#๐๐ผ๐๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด is a method of cleansing your face twice: First, with an oil-based cleanser and then with a water-based cleanser.
It appears that the ๐ฑ๐ผ๐๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด method and increased ๐ฐ๐ผ๐น๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐บ๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ use ๐ช๐ข๐ฅ๐ฆ๐๐ก ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ป๐ฒ in ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ป๐ฒ patients.
Exciting that this study sheds light and may help guide recommendation on a trend that has otherwise gone viral.
I personally use the ๐ฑ๐ผ๐๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ฐ๐น๐ฒ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด method on days that I I use make-up. I do think that it serves its purpose of ensuring that skin is free of every trace of impurities.
But at what cost in our ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ป๐ฒ patients? Is daily use too drying? Are we stripping too much of our natural oils and our body responds by producing more oil that can lead to breakouts and irritation?
Interesting study with potential to be scandalous on TikTok. Tag your influencers and SHARE this post. Definitely food for thought

DONโT SLEEP ON BENZOYL PEROXIDE!!!!
This superstar acne-fighting ingredient should be on the radar of anyone struggling with acne.
Yet the majority of my new acne patients, come in using every over-the-counter skincare product, except this goodie
๐คWhat is it ๐๐ฃ๐ข?
An inorganic acid which functions as an antibiotic.
๐คท๐ฝโโ๏ธHow does ๐๐ฃ๐ข work?
Metabolized in the skin (predominantly in the upper layers of the epidermis) to benzoic acid and free oxygen radicals. Benzoic acid then lowers skin pH as the free radicals disrupt bacterial cell membranes.
๐ฅฐWhy is ๐๐ฃ๐ข such a goodie?
๐ฃ kills bacteria faster and more effectively than other topical antibiotics.
There is no documented bacterial resistance to BPO.
Prevents and reverses resistance to acne antibiotics.
๐ฃImproves ๐ถ๐ป๐ณ๐น๐ฎ๐บ๐บ๐ฎ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ acne and ๐ฐ๐ผ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐น (white and black heads) acne.

To minimize risk of skin irritation
- Stick to the 2.5% or 5% concentration. Would not use 10 % on the face. 2.5%,5 %or 10% are all equally effective. If only the 10% is available in your neighborhood, ok to buy the 10% and dilute to 3-5% at the time of use.
- Use it as a face wash in the AM
- Use every other AM
- Always follow with a hydrating moisturizer
- Donโt forget your physical sunscreen
๐Do not use at the same time as tretinoin as can inactivate tretinoin and make it less stable.
Avoid using Vitamin C at the same time as may decrease the efficacy of your vitamin C serum.
Dry face with white towels after washing as can bleach clothes.
Avoid in pregnancy (Category C)
All this to say, donโt sleep on benzoyl peroxide.

However, here is a quick infographic of the ABCs of skin care products to consider adding to your regimen if you are dealing with a little piece
Very little data or clinical studies are available on the effects of these products for the treatments of ๐ฃ๐๐, exclusive. However, they have been shown to have a temporary effect on reducing skin erythema and/or inflammation in other skin conditions.
Now letโs review the data for our ABCs

Skincare Basics 101
If you are new to skincare, know this: less is often more.
Save this cheat sheet illustrating basic principles for you to create your
In putting together your ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฟ๐๐ skincare routine, start with the basics and expand to meet your skinโs needs.
Keep it simple: At a minimum your skincare routine should include the following steps.
1. Clean your face with the appropriate cleanser for your skin type.
2. Follow with a moisturize appropriate moisturizer for your skin type.
3. Sunscreen, Sunscreen, Sunscreen

When in doubt consult a Thatโs why we are here for!
Which moisturizer is right for my skin type?
A little bit of moisturizing a day keeps the dry skin away!
Moisturizing is crucial to a healthy skin barrier. All ๐บ๐ผ๐ถ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ help with dry skin. Yet, not all moisturizers are created equal. So, how do you choose the ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ ๐บ๐ผ๐ถ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ for your skin?
I am breaking it down today for #WinterSkinReliefDay.
In general, ๐บ๐ผ๐ถ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ provide a little bit of water to the skin and contain a greasy substance that holds it in.
๐ ๐ผ๐ถ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ are formulated in ๐ฏ ๐๐ฎ๐๐:
โ
๐ข๐ฐ๐ฐ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐: greasy/oily and block the evaporation of water from your skin.
๐ฆ ๐๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐๐: pull water into the top layer of your skin both from the air and from deeper layers of the skin.
๐ง๐พโโ๏ธ ๐๐บ๐ผ๐น๐น๐ถ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐: not really moisturizering but rather to make the skin feel smooth by replacing absent skin the lipids and oils to fill in all the cracks on the skin, helping smooth out the surface of your skin and repair your skinโs barrier.
Here is a cheat sheet to help you select the appropriate moisturizer for your skin.
๐
๐ ๐ผ๐ถ๐๐๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐, regardless of your skin type. Even oily skin needs moisturizing every day with the right type of moisturizer. Please avoid moisturizing reactively, aka moisturizering ๐ผ๐ป๐น๐ when your skin is dry.
P.S I keep my moisturizer in my shower to apply right after I towel off gently.
This is key for the winter ๐ฅถ months. You need both a humectant which draw moisture to the skin and occlusive ingredients which keep water from evaporating off of your skin.
This is really important in the winter if you are using humectant heavy moisturizer. The dry air can pull the water out of your skin. Sounds crazy right?
Even if you do not have sensitive skin. Fragrance and coloring are just a set up for possible irritation/allergy and no one has time for that.
They too need some TLC.

Is ๐๐ฆ๐๐๐ก ๐๐ฟ๐๐ณ๐ผ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ ๐๐ด๐ฒ๐น๐ฒ๐๐ ๐จ๐น๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ tinted mineral sunscreen worth the hype?
#Isdin - ISDIN Eryfotona Ageless Ultralight tinted mineral sunscreen[products]#[FourStars]
Pros
โ๏ธ ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐น sunscreen aka physical blocker, thus broad spectrum
๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐, though unclear of percent. May provide protection against blue light.
One of the few tinted moisturizers that blends in well in skin of color. The tint is so homogenous and nice that you can away with not applying foundation after.
โ๏ธ Contains ๐ฝ๐ต๐ผ๐๐ผ๐น๐๐ฎ๐๐ฒ, an enzyme, that help repair damage caused by the sun.
Not too thick or too thin, apply easily on the skin.
โ๏ธ contains ๐ฉ๐ถ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐ป ๐, an antioxidant as well as moisturizing
Cons
๐ฅด ๐ข๐ถ๐น๐, would not recommend for oily skin
๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ, it is definitely a splurge when there are comparable more frugal options out there.
