This or That? Which toner wins my heart…
A great toner is always important for an effective skincare routine. I’ve tried lots of toners these years and today I would like to introduce two of them for you, one is my recent fav and one is my always repurchase. Before starting to recommend my toners, I want to make it clear that my skin type is combination around the whole year and my major skin concern is severe dryness and skin sensitive, which leads to redness recently. Inspired by Caroline Hirons
Happy New Year! In December I read Caroline Hiron’s book “Skincare a No NonSense Guide”. See earlier post for a review (I definitely recommend the read!). In her book she lays out the basics for creating a skincare routine. I am 35 with dry, normal skin. My concerns are preventing fine lines & wrinkles, dullness, dark circles, and hyperpigmentation. Here’s her basics for an AM Routine: 1. Cleanse A recent trend has been that you don’t need to wash your face in the morning. Instead you should look for a gentle cleanser. She also suggests staying away from foaming cleanser (these contain Sulfates) CLINIQUE - CLINIQUE Liquid Facial Soap I bought this Jumbo Clinique Facial Soap on sale in the summer and I’m still slowly working through it. It is gentle. However, after starting my clean skincare journey I found it has sulfates (second ingredient), TEA, and PEGs. I will swap for a “clean” soap when I finish it. (See my clean skincare posts for more info) 2. Exfoliate Caroline recommends using toners to exfoliate. Buy two acids a gentler and a stronger and rotate them. I’ve learned I like serums better for exfoliating, but I have started rotating two Pixi toners (see post for longer review) pixi - Glow Tonic pixi - Milky Tonic 3. Spray Mist She suggests to look for a mist with glyercin or hyalonic acid or rose water. Or use a hydrating toner I’ve been using The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 for this step. A very affordable hyaluronic acid that won an Allure Beauty Award. Do you use a facial mist? What do you recommend? 4. Eye cream Many people say eye cream should be after serums & moisturizer, but says it should be first to act as a barrier for the eye area. The Ordinary - Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG See my previous post for full review. I’ve been using this to target my dark circles, but haven’t noticed much difference. 5. Serums / oils This step is where you should target your concerns (i.e., hyperpigmentation). I love Vitamin C serum for the AM. VERSED - STROKE OF BRILLIANCE Brightening Serum This is a great drugstore Vitamin C serum. I’ve noticed my skin is brighter and more radiant! See earlier post for more info. 6. Moisturize CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge Hydrating Lotion I got this as a reward from Clinique and really like it for a daytime moisturizer. If you are a fan of their Moisture Surge line you will like this. It leaves my skin feeling very hydrated. With this concentrate you use less and it absorbs easily quicker. But from a “clean” beauty perspective it contains dyes. 7. SPF And finally always SPF. ICLINIQUE - Moisture Surge Sheertint Hydrator Broad Spectrum SPF 25 This is a great BB cream with SPF, light coverage, and moisturizing This routine leaves me feeling great even without putting on anymore make-up

Soothing 💖 The Toner That Changed My Mornings
I’m used to toners like bliss - What A Melon Replenishing Watermelon Toner , Bioré - Witch Hazel Toner and bliss - Clear Genius Clarifying Toner + Serum which aren’t bad but this one changed my perspective on what toners are supposed to be. LANCÔME - Tonique Confort Comforting Rehydrating Toner w/Hyaluronic Acid, Acacia Honey & Sweet almond Oil is hydrating, alcohol-free and soothing. It doesn’t have that harsh tingling sensation that toners usual give. Instead, it feels more like a serum and its milk-like texture is absorbed by the skin very quickly. I love the way it feels and it calms down any irritation I have on my face. My skin feels softer tbh and I really like it. 🥰
I never thought LANCÔME - Tonique Confort Comforting Rehydrating Toner would work the way it did. I have known about this product for a very long time but never thought about trying despite all the five stars until the day I got the deal of 50% off somewhere sorry I forgot where :( It comes out like silk but with somewhat thick consistency. I always use my palms to apply everything. I rubbed my palms and pat on my face. Here comes the magic, it’s absorbed by my skin beautifully with zero irritation. I sometimes even do a second layer just to experience the comfort feeling. Love it 😍
I would say @clinique was the brand that really got me into skincare when I was younger. My mom used it and still uses it so that’s how I was introduced into a multi-step skincare routine. One of their products that has remained a staple in my routine is their #moisturesurge line! I first fell in love with it when I was living in South Dakota and the cold would literally strip my skin, to the point where it was flaky. Formulated with HA and aloe water to keep the skin nice and plump as well as caffeine which helps wake up the skin’s rehydration system to keep it working. Using it’s literally brings my skin back to health almost immediately, taking care of any dryness or redness. Have you tried their moisture surge line? If not, do you have a #clinique favorite? 💧

Is this lux brand worth it?
~August Ipsy Item~ While found that H2O+ - Refreshing Gel Moisturizer was a pretty good product in general, I had to knock it down bc it still doesn't beat out my favorite product of all-time: Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer The consistency was cool and refreshing and can be used on all skin types BUT oily types. For combination skin friends, this is totally non-comedomic so you can still use this on your whole face but is better suited for those on the drier side. It absorbs well sometimes and othertimes it sits really greasy, depends on what serums I use before hand. I found that this really only felt nice when I used nothing except this gel after my face wash. For dry skin friends this would be way better than Neutrogena, however why spend when you can try bliss - Drench & Quench Moisturizer for a MUCH cheaper price. The only difference is bliss is a more creamy and less gel like. I also like that theres no BS fragrance in it. The sample wasn't quite enough for a good testing, in the few times I've used it the container is near empty. Despite it's merits, there's nothing about this that blew me away so I see no point in purchasing this product.

Muji J-beauty Skincare
#Muji - Moisturizing Milk Moisture[products]#[FiveStars] Muji is one of my favorite Japanese goodies store. They are organized and simple. They also have a skincare line! This J-beauty (Japanese beauty) product selections are awesome as they have categories for aged skin and sensitive skin as well. I have combination skin and when my skin is irritated, I look for simple skincare routine. Especially during winter, I’m in need of products that are non irritating but hydrating. That’s why I love this milky lotion. It’s so light yet so effective. I highly recommend this to anyone who’s looking for additional hydration. Texture is just like emulsion but a little bit lighter. The price is affordable and totally worth it.

(NEUTROGENA) HYDRO BOOST WATER GEL
Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel is a gel-consistency moisturizer containing hyaluronic acid that provides ultimate hydration while also being lightweight. it's for dry and dehydrated skin, but is oil-free so it is also oily skin friendly! i bought this a few months ago because the two pack was on sale at Costco, so my mom got one to try and so did I. this stuff is AWESOME! my holy grail gel moisturizer is belif's aqua bomb, but in my opinion this is pretty similar and a more affordable dupe. it is definitely VERY hydrating, but doesn't sit on top of the skin due to it being a gel, and it's probably one of my top #3 favorite moisturizers ever. i can't do super thick moisturizers, but also my skin can get pretty dehydrated, so this works perfectly for me. i'd recommend this to anyone with dehydrated skin (oily, combo, normal or dry - any skin type!) or who loves aqua bomb like i do but doesn't want to pay that much for it. at $21.49 for 1.7oz, this is pretty affordable and definitely worth it. she's a best seller for a reason, 5/5 stars

Top Drugstore Moisturizers: Neutrogena ✨
I decided I am going to share a few of my top affordable drugstore moisturizers. This one in particular is the most basic moisturizer of my favorites. It is very light and keeps me from getting shiny while being super hydrating and smoothing at the same time! Because I have combination skin (annoying dry patches and an oily t-zone) I use this one in the morning and before makeup because it is a product that goes well underneath other products. A problem I have always had with moisturizers is when I put makeup on top it will rub off or feel gross. This product does the opposite, I feel like it almost works well as a primer or barrier between my skin and my makeup. This product has improved my skin overtime and if you have confusing & sensitive skin like me, I think you should give it a try. ✨🥰 Neutrogena - Neutrogena Combination Skin Moisture

Caudalie SOS moisturizer
This is such a beautiful thick moisturizer, it looks deceiving because it’s creamy and lightweight when you put some on your finger and when you put it on your face you can over do it and put too much on! I did that the first time now I’ve learned. It spreads like a gel cream over your face but it keeps your face hydrated for the entire day this is perfect for dry skin gals especially in the winter. Of course I bought this in the summer silly me but I can’t wait to use more of it in the winter it’s sooo thick and nourishing also smells like grapes like all of Caudalies stuff. 4/5 because I do love it it’s just expensive but you get a lot of product and it’s good ingredients too.

This Black-Owned CBD Line Puts Community At The Center of WellnessCBD that is compassionate, effective, and gives back to the community? Yes, please!Feb. 5
My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
