Picked Comments: Foundation & Primers
Attention Babes! We're gonna focus on foundation and primer today! Primer/foundation is literally the first step of our makeup - lets take a look at our Cheire users' discussions on primer/foundation! @beautiewithjen “BB creams can help even out redness, hydrating, creating a natural texture, protecting your skin — covered. BB creams range anywhere from a barely-there tint to medium coverage and some even contain ultra-high SPFs. Typically good for acne prone skin. They may not cover all skins flaws but help even it out a bit. Foundation is more for a flawless look, usually for a full coverage.” @Hannigracie“I honestly don’t use primers that often, but I do like the BareMinerals Prime Time Original Foundation Primer. It is an extremely hydrating primer, which I love for my dry skin. It is on the pricier side, but a little product goes a long way. I find it to be hydrating, blurring and fairly long-lasting. I hope this info helped! :) ” For other Cherie members, feel free to comment below and share your experience of using foundation and primer. I'd love to hear your reviews of the products! S/O to all the experts who generously left comments and solved others' problems! 👀👀👀 Don't forget to follow your best friend CheriePick, an official Cherie account, to interact with other Cherie members and get the best content in the community. Let Me Introduce Myself
Hello! Thanks for stopping by! My name is Marissa and I am an Aesthetic Registered Nurse practicing alongside a resounding Board Certified Dermatologist and Master Aesthetic Injector at MedSpa in small town Iowa with a lifelong affection towards skin health and beauty. My goals with Cherie are to inform you, the BEAUTIFUL consumer, of your options on medical grade skin care products, are they really worth it, debunking common skincare myths, comparing prescription strength versus OTC medications for dermatologic conditions, and discussing basic anatomy and physiology to allow the consumer to make educated decisions based upon your specific skin type and ailments. This platform will also allow me to discuss how using multiple medical modalities such as lasers, injectables, resurfacing tools, etc. is cohesive with your daily skincare routine. Let’s have fun! 💋

Going Makeup Free in Quarantine = Happy Skin!
The past four months have been full of change for all of us and the biggest shift has involved staying home and inside more often. With all my time spent at home, I’ve found myself letting my skin breathe and forgoing my old daily makeup routine of concealer, powder, and blush. Although this wasn’t initially done for the health of my skin in mind more than it was inspired by the fact that I was just spending all my time in bed, this break has ended up working wonders for my skin and my appreciation for being bare-faced! I used to struggle with spots on my cheeks and on my forehead quite often. Not only has my skin calmed down and cleared up, I’ve realized how much more comfortable I feel embracing my natural skin on a daily basis! This photo of me without makeup was taken last week after a month of going makeup free. I still love my makeup and will occasionally get done up for fun, but it’s been wonderful for both my skin and my comfort with it to just let it breathe. ♥️ I’d love to know if anyone else has been feeling the same!

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
