SUNSCREEN MYTHS DEBUNKED🧴✨ #CheriePartner
Sunscreen is an important product that protects are skin from damage such as cancer and sun poisoning. I’ve noticed that everyone from kids too adults hate putting it on and their excuses on why they do not can sometimes be questionable. Here are some of the common myths I hear about sunscreen: First, let’s start off with what’s the difference between the two types of ultraviolet rays. UVB-causes skin cancer UVA-causes skin damage (wrinkles, etc.) You a can’t get burned on cloudy days- I understand why some would think this given that the sun is nowhere to be found but clouds are only blocking a partial amount of UV rays causing the rest to still shine down onto the skins surface. Spf levels don’t matter after 50- Spf is tricky. The number amounts to how many times longer it would take the sun to burn you opppsed to if you were not wearing any at all. For example with spf 30, it would take 30x longer for the sun to cause damage with the protection than not wearing any at all. Now, the higher the spf, the higher the protection is sort of true but not by much. The percentage increases slightly such as 30 spf providing coverage for about 97% percent of the sun, 50 spf 98%, 50+spf 99% respectively. You can’t get a burn if you have a darker complexion: The darker the skin, the more melanin you have. Melanin does protect against some UV rays like UVB rays but not 100%. UVA rays still are going unprotected without the sunscreen so it’s important to still use sunscreen no matter the color of your complexion. What other myths do you hear about sunscreen?⬇️

Had high hopes, but still searching for SPF 😭
Was hoping this could act as a primer before my makeup but instead it caused my makeup to flake apart and apply unevenly! I was more looking for a sunscreen that could hydrate my skin and act as a base to my makeup! Something a little tacky so that my makeup could adhere to my skin instead of flake apart! I may be trying some TULA SPF products next! Anyone have any other reccomendations? Although - think that this is great on its own for a beach/pool day! 👎🏻 EMPTY 👎🏻
I am so glad that this product is empty. I have been trying to work my way through my make up wipes collection. Because I no longer like purchasing or a form of make up removal. Neutrogena - Travel Size Makeup Remover Towlettes always leave a film on my face and it does not even feel like the make up is being taken off with these. It just feels like I’m rubbing make up all over my face. Which is really what you’re doing and that’s why you should always go to the second clothes especially if you’re using make up wipes but you should go in with a second cleanse anyways to make sure you’re getting off all of your make up. I also have dry skin and this did not help my skin feel any better and made it feel more dry and tight. Overall I would not recommend make up wipes I would recommend if you’re looking for an effective way for make up removal to try eight cleansing balm or oil in the double cleanse method.

May was Skin Cancer Awareness Month, and since summer is closely approaching I wanted to make a post about how important it is to protect our skin with an SPF everyday! Anyone can get skin cancer, regardless of age, gender or race. It is estimated that 1 in 5 Americans will develop skin cancer in their lifetime. Using a sunscreen can help prevent skin cancer by protecting our skin from harmful UV rays. It’s also important to note that no matter the season, your skin is your largest organ and you need to protect it from all environmental pollutants - not just the sun. The sun emits it’s harmful UV rays year-round. Even on cloudy days up to 80% of the sun’s UV rays can penetrate your skin. You want to make sure you are using a sunscreen that offers Broad Spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays. What’s the difference between the two? ☀️UVA rays can prematurely age your skin, causing wrinkles, age spots/dark sun spots. UVA rays can pass through window glass and clouds meaning, yes - you need protection from these rays inside or even while driving in your car. ☀️UVB rays are the primary cause of sunburn and aid in the development of skin cancer. This is why you will need a sunscreen that protects you from both, and has an SPF of at LEAST 30 or higher. ⛅️You put a lot of time and money into your skin care ; why would you throw it all away by not protecting it from the sun? Before being interested in Esthetics/Skin I used to never think the right amount of sun protection was necessary and I was in those tanning beds ALLLL the time years ago.🤦🏻♀️ But once I learned the importance of protecting the skin and all the damage the sun is capable of - it’s just not worth it. Plus, there’s always self tanner and spray tans :) These are some of my favorite sunscreens to use at the beach or in the sun by the pool! Supergoop! - Mattescreen SPF 40 BADGER - Active Kids, Natural Mineral Sunscreen Cream, SPF 30 PA+++, Tangerine & Vanilla And of course stay hydrated all day with cold water 💧 I also really love Colorescience and Elta MD sunscreen which i will post about later 💕 #spf #sunprotection #CherieCreator

No matter what type of skin you have, YOU HAVE TO APPLY SUNSCREEN. So the first sunscreen is CōTZ - Flawless Complexion SPF 50 it’s the sunscreen I use on my face before my makeup sometimes I’ll use it as a primer depending on what kind of make up I do or just as a moisturizer because it does look oily on your skin, but again I have super dry skin. Secondly, Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 I bought this for my boyfriend when he tried using my sunscreen and he was like “Wow this doesn’t match me at all”, I immediately knew what he needed. It’s very Matte and thin so there’s not that much of a shine when applied to your face it works on all skin!

A summer must for dark skin!
This SPF by SuperGoop is the real deal! I was skeptical when I first hear about it because come on.... is there such a thing as clear sunscreen for Black women? Well, there is! It doesn’t feel greasy, doesn’t cause face breakouts and is literally invisible. I love it! Went on a hike in 100 degree heat with it recently and it protected me from sunburn.

With the rise in popularity of at-home chemical exfoliation, it’s easier than ever before to take it a step too far.
