šNever lose your fight with acnes
CheriePick
Hey sistersš„°!!! If everything gets shutdown during COVID-19, one of the few things that should never be affected is your addiction to skin care. My life-long enemy acne never knows how to self-quarantine and spare a little stability to my skin. I mean...who's undefeatable in front of the brutal acnesš¤? But you're lucky enough - in our incredibly loving Cherie community, your skin problem is never a problem because of our super helpful beauty expertsš¤©!!!
@Paola29 suffered from acnes because of hormonal imbalances. Weeks ago, they made a post on Cherie and asked for skincare advice. Believe it or not, within a week, they got so many useful tips on acne treatment - read the golden advice below word by word!
@mira.nichole "I love using products like The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque and any of the Sweet Chef Serum Shots to help my skin out. I definitely recommend seeing a dermatologist though if you havenāt already, since I also use a prescription cream called Aczone (Dapsone) which I found has helped out a ton."
@skincarebytate "I would recommend using the CeraVe foaming cleanser and daily moisturizer. The CeraVe foaming cleanser works wonders for oily skin. Also you have to moisturize! I would also recommend steering clear of essential oils as they can cause irritation. The ordinary is great though! so keep using their products! Also donāt forget to exfoliate. I would reccomend chemical exfoliants rather than scrubs :)š "
@al0na.c "The holy grail acne treatment that ended up working for me (finally @ 26 years old!) was the Roche-Posay Effaclar 3 step acne system, but especially the Effaclar Duo Cream. It really works very fast at clearing up breakouts and soothes the redness of the pimples."
@Paola29 , hope now you have a better idea of removing acnes - please keep us updated š! Girls, if you have other advice, don't hesitate to leave your comments below <3

Tips from a derm for exercise induced acne
With a new year comes resolutions, many involving healthier lifestyles and exercise. So why let exercise induced acne hold you back from achieving these healthier choices. Exercising can cause excessive sweating-leading to increased oils, dirt, friction, and even bacteria on your skin leading to acne.
This can manifest as facial or truncal acne (think backne), often known as acne mechanica or folliculitis.
Cleansing properly is incredibly important for preventing exercise induced acne. Itās important to remove all makeup prior to working out. Gently shower with lukewarm water immediately after sweating. If a shower is not available, reach for a cleansing wipe.
Clean, loose-fitting moisture wicking attire is key. This helps prevent friction and additional bacteria and sweat from dirty clothing. In addition to wiping down all gym equipment, donāt forget about the stuff that hits your skin regularly such as headphones, watches, and headbands.
Most importantly, donāt forget sunscreen and gentle moisturizers.

My favorite cleansers
Iāve tried so manny cleansers in my skin journey, but these are the ones I absolutely love, Iāve kind of stuck with the one brand because Iām slow to trust other products!š
ļæ¼My favorite one at the moment is CeraVe - Acne Foaming Cream Cleanser I love this product because it cleared up my active acne and it really cleans your face! I have also noticed that my blackheads are starting to clear up and be less noticeable!
ļæ¼My second favorite is the CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser this one is a better than I thought it would be when i first got it!š itās really smooth and it made my face so soft!
ļæ¼The other two are ok, I use the CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser when I have dry skin. And the CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin is good for when my face needs a break from the active ingredients the first two have!
ļæ¼Definitely would recommend all of them! There all really good!

My new love of drug store brands
La Mer user in recovery lol.
It all started when I realized they had no acne products or any containing the usual, key ingredients. So a long journey of The Ordinary, the Inkey list, and La Roche Posay- I have no use for La
Mer. Iām all about tried and tested products now. Key ingredients and proper concentrations. Really, buy the Marine Hyaluronics from The Ordinary and add it to any olā lotions. Then enjoy the freedom and The Ordinary - Marine Hyaluronics LA MER - LA MER The Moisturizing Soft Cream LA ROCHE-POSAY - Effaclar Duo (+) massive savings of relying on the tried and true ingredients- not the brand whoās mystical backstory involves a psychic trying to contact the original manufacturer from the grave to get his recipe. The only thing that La
Mer soothes is my ego.

Help!
I have been trying to figure out the best way to take control of my skincare routine. My main concern is the texture of my skin, redness, blackheads on my nose, & large pores on my cheeks. I believe I have combination skin. It canāt often get oily or dry.
Iād like any advice having to do with Cerave or The Ordinary.
I currently am cleansing my face each morning & night with CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser I like this cleanser, but am wondering if I should try out some other Cerave facial cleansers for my skin.
In the morning I use CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30
In the evening I moisturize with CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion
Occasionally, I use the The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution but I donāt think I have used it consistently enough & often enough to tell a difference. Iāve read that this is good for blackheads on your nose & to use it two nights a week.
I have also used The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque but havenāt used it enough to notice a difference.
Iād like to look into trying a few more products to help rejuvenate my skin & give my skin care routine a āfaceliftā š Any advice or opinions would be wonderful. Thank you!
Products Iād like to try include:
ļæ¼CeraVe - Resurfacing Retinol Serum I would like to introduce a retinol into my routine.
ļæ¼CeraVe - Eye Repair Cream I often get dry under eyes, eye lids, & puffiness.
ļæ¼The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA I read this was good for textured skin & blackheads.
ļæ¼The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Thank you in advance! āØ

Salicylic Acid in My Routine
Ok so I already made a post about my thoughts on this mask The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque and Iāll admit I was a little harsh on it- but itās because this mask is MESSY and Iām all about convenience and being able to quickly apply a product and not have to think about the details, is what makes me happy. However, a got a comment on that previous post (@MartaPol) and it was recommended that I apply this before I get in the shower and then rinse it off in there.
I gave it a try and the mess issue is completely resolved this way! Itās still a little too much thought for a face mask for me personally , and Iām not usually a nighttime shower taker, but I will definitely be using the mask like this until I use it up!
Iāll also note that this mask does make my face baby soft!! I always follow with a heavy duty moisturizer- my favorite for calming irritation is LA ROCHE-POSAY - Cicaplast Baume B5 for Dry Skin Irritations

Hi this is my first post here. And I just want to show you guys my journey. The 1st-3rd pics were the days my face looked really bad. Because I had so many acnes everywhere. I got really sad and my self esteem was really low. I didnāt wanna go out anymore. Because I was embarrassed. The 4th picture was when I had makeup on. As you could see the makeup didnāt help at all. Btw I used the clinique 123 acne set and I tried proactive too. But my acnes got worst. My boyfriendās sister told me to try beauche set out. She said it really helped her with her acnes. And I did tried it. And finally Iāve seen the difference when days go by. My acnes were vanishing little by little. Until it was really gone. The 5th pic is when my face was finally acne free. The last pic is when I put makeup on. You could see the differences from my 4th pic with makeup on. Anyways you can buy beuche from ebay or amazon. Trust me I
was scared at first. But now I donāt regret trying it out. Iām very thankful that I finally found a skincare that really works. Feel free to ask me any questions. (:

Hormonal acne
My skin is at an all time low. I know my acne isnāt ābadā, but I use to have perfect clear skin. Iām 21 years old, and the last 6 months my skin has gotten worst. My old dermatologist had me on an antibiotic called clindamycin (which i was taking for over a year) and although I should have never been taking that for so long I am determined thatās what stopped my acne. Since Iāve been off that my face has been worst.
Iām currently taking 50mg of spironolactone, but itās not doing ANYTHING for me. My acne is only on my chin/jawline and cheeks, so I know itās hormonal, but I want to find an end to it.
Any suggestions on products that will get rid of my acne!!!!!! I have dry sensitive skin. Anything helpsš
HELP! Jaw and chin acne
Help me please!! I am out of ideas and need some guidance! I have always had oily/combination skin. For the last year I have had little congested pores all over my chin, but they didnāt turn into acne. In the last 2 months, I have developed acne all over my chin and jawline. I have been exfoliating a few times a week for the chin congestion, recommended 6 months ago after a facial, with a scrub once a week and enzyme peel once a week.
In the AM i cleanse with Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser, use witch hazel toner, insta natural - Vitamin C Serum and moisturize with ACURE - Radically Rejuvenating SPF 30 Day Cream. In the PM I do double cleansing using DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil followed by either Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser or Willa Beauty clear skin exfoliating scrub. I use eb5 anti aging toner, alternate days to use CeraVe - Skin Renewing Retinol Cream Serum, and moisturize with MINERAL FUSION - Nighttime Recovery Face Cream.
Most of those products I have been using for a while, the new ones since March are the double cleansing method (been doing that for 5 months, first three months were amazing!), the retinol cream, and the Vitamin C Serum. Could a retinol increase breakouts? I use it maybe twice a week at this point because Iām worried it is making things worse.
I recently got SheaMoisture - African Black Soap Clarifying Mud Maskand have been using that once a week.
Any recommendations would be so appreciated! Iāve done prescription products in college with little to no results, so Iām hesitant to go that route again.

Oil Cleansing Helps Oil Plugs??
I saw this idea on YouTube from The Golden Rx (but Iāve also seen quite a few people on TikTok mention this video there). Sheās an Esthetician and Skincare YouTuber! I really enjoy her videos. She has a video called āEsthetician Approved: Oil Cleansing Guide for All Skin Types | Acne, Oily, Dry Comboā that goes into detail about oil cleansing and products based on your skin type. In it, she recommends how to get the rid of the things that looks like blackheads by using an oil!
.
Info from her video: After 3-5 minutes of messaging your facial oil after your first step cleanser, sometimes 10-15 minutes, you start to feel gritty oil plugs come out. Theyāre actually solid blocks of sebum that are stuck in your pores. Black/brown color is more likely sebaceous filaments. When your pores are blocked and they pop out, they resemble blackheads so itās good to get them out! Purging can happen with oil cleansing, but not a lot.
.
Directions/Steps from her video: Use a balm or oil to remove makeup/SPF, etc. for 60 seconds. Next, go in with an oil and use solid, gentle pressure all over the face. This could be a relaxing form of self-care after a long day and to take time for yourself and give your face a message and release the tension that has built up throughout the day! Work from the inside from the outside to the face. Oil plugs donāt always come out, itās a maybe thing! Use a warm cleansing cloth to remove.
.
Products needed: A balm or oil to remove makeup (she has recommendations in her video based on your skin type) and an oil for a second cleanse (she used the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil).
.
How often: She recommends once a week or so because skincare should be fun and not something thatās a long process everyday. Also, itās fun to see what comes out after awhile!
.
My experience: I used the CLINIQUE - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm as my first step and the ACURE - Seriously Soothing Blue Tansy Night Oil as my oil of choice to rub in for 20 minutes. This was my first time trying it and didnāt have any noticeable plugs come out that I felt, but my cheeks didnāt have as many dark spots on them! I took picture, but they werenāt good quality and you couldnāt really see them well. My skin also feels more smooth and even! My hands did cramp some after 5 minutes, but I pushed through it and it was relaxing! I do think I will continue doing this once a week and see if it further helps my skin! I might try a different oil than and see if that works any better.
ACURE-Seriously Soothing Blue Tansy Night Oil
Gets Rid Of Redness!
Why I Bought It: I bought this awhile ago while I was looking for something to help me out with my redness because I felt like I looked like I was always blushing.
My Experience: When I first bought it I hated it. It made my skin so dry to the point my face was peeling in my drier areas(I have combo skin so my cheeks are my drier areas). So I stopped using it. But recently I started using it again and it does make me a little dry still but I go in with a moisturizer after and my face feels better. The redness has gone down so much it looks like I donāt even have it anymore. And it has helped the occasional breakouts that I get. I also noticed that my pores feel less large and my nose has less blackheads.
Is It Worth It?: Neutrogena - Oil Free Acne Wash, Redness Soothing Facial Cleanser I would say yes if you want to get rid of redness and acne. I didnāt give it all five stars just because I feel like it does make my face dry and tight without a moisturizer.

Update Hormonal Acne: 1 Week After Product Swap
Hey All!
So after a week of using products recommended to me from you all, I wanted to give an update.
My skin has improved slightly, but Iām here for the small victories!
I switched my cleanser from the CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin to the CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skin and I think this has made a huge improvement to the hydration levels of my skin. I have naturally very dry and sensitive skin, so I think the foaming cleanser did a bit too much on it.
Iāve also started using DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel again! Love this product as a spot treatment. It has worked wonders for my more inflamed breakouts.
Lastly, Iāve taken out the following products:
clarisonic - MIA 2 FACIAL CLEANSING BRUSH (LOL yaāll I know, but Iāve been using it for YEARS and I just couldnāt put it down)
PACIfICA - Cosmic Renew AHA & Hemp Resurfacing Tonic (This was just too drying with my prescription tret cream)
Looking forward to continue updating xx
