As a huge fan of Selena Gomez and a huge fan of Skincare. I'm so excited that she finally launched her own beauty brand --Rare Beauty. In the video featured on Vogue's YouTube channel, Gomez shares her everyday routine. This is why I love her, she is not only introducing her own brand product but also sharing the products she actually used from other brands that she loved. As a skincare obsessor, I got the 2 products she mentioned with her skincare routine that I can not wait to share with you guys.
ā¤ļøSelena Gomez's Skin Type
She has dry skin, but in certain areas she is oily, also around her T-zone, she has some acne breakouts. My skin type is exactly the same as hers. Combination skin with oily T-zone and dry on the other area. Also acnes in T-zone and on my chin.

ā¤ļøMy Review:
Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream: First of all, the packaging is gorgeous! I love the little cute spoon on the top of the package, but to be honest it is not that useful lol. As well as the cream, the light purple color is very beautiful. I purchased it because I want this to be a part of my skincare routine day and night. However, the texture is too rich for my skin that I can only use it as a nighttime cream. A little amount of use could give my skin perfect hydration and when I wake up on the second day, my skin looks like a skinned boiled egg that is smooth, glowy and I can feel the elasticity. Since I'm a combination skin type, for the daytime, I feel heavy on the skin. Dry skin will definitely love it. I used LaMer CrĆØme de la Mer Moisturizer Cream before and I don't really like that due to the super-rich texture. I feel this Tatcha Dewy Skin Cream (Price for $68) can be LaMer's (Price for $190) DUPE! Even Better!
Drunk Elephant Sunscreen SPF 30: Sunscreen is always an indispensable part of my routine. The Iron oxides ingredient in tinted sunscreens provides some protection against blue light and really attract me to buy it. I use it every day after I purchased it and I really love it. This product is a sheer physical sunscreen that gives powerful protection from the UVA/UVB damage and the radiations and oxidative damage. The texture is extremely lightweight that it is wonderful to apply it before makeup foundations. I feel it melt into my skin and is virtually invisible. I always prefer physical sunscreen better than chemical sunscreen. The word chemical sounds scary to me. This one contained no chemicals or silicones that will not cause acne which I highly recommend.

Just okay for such an expensive product :/
First Impression: I opened the box and WOW is this small for $20! I never shop at Sephora and the only reason I bought this was because I received a $25 gift card recently but I was at least expecting this to be a little bit bigger. Like .5 fl oz instead of .34 maybe? I have heard amazing things from dozens of skincare sites so I couldnāt wait to try it!
Opening: When I opened the tin, it looked thick due to its color, but once I put some on it was VERY thin. When I use my regular Clinique Moisture Surge (which is super hydrating) it is very lightweight but still a little bit heavier than this. Smells great!
Next day: I have to say the combo of this and THE BODY SHOP - Jumbo Tea Tree Oil has me waking up with the smoothest skin but lately my skin has been feeling much drier due to the cold (not on just my face) and I donāt think it is as hydrating as I expected it to be. The cream dries very quickly which makes me want to put another layer on and when I wake up I still have dry spots. Like I said I feel VERY smooth but not as hydrated as Iād like.
Verdict: I feel like this would definitely benefit me better around the summer/springtime when Iām not looking for complete re-hydration of my skin and more of a moisturizer but I do not think this is the holy grail I was expecting it to be. Try it out if you get the opportunity because all skin is different! But for my combination skin and hormonal acne, itās gonna be a no from me, dawg :(

Skincare 101: the Basics
Three products are all you really need to care for your skin.
Well, maybe not *you* specifically, but letās be frank: most people donāt *need* a twelve-step routine to take care of their skin. If youāre starting off in skincare, your financial situation has changed, or your skin has been flaring with redness/flaking/breakouts, opt for a super simple routine for a month or two to see how your skin does without the extra frills. It may surprise you how little you need to keep your skin happy!
ā¢ šš¹š²š®š»šš²šæ: Cleanse with water in the morning, or opt for a hydrating cleanser if youāre oily, workout, or just enjoy cleansing often. Double-cleanse with that hydrating cleanser (and/or an oil-based balm) in the evening, or opt for a single cleanse with a gel or foaming cleanser. My milky faves are CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser and HOLI FROG - Tashmoo Water Lily Nourishing Milky Wash , while my deep-cleansing faves are CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser and PAULA'S CHOICE - RESIST Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser .
ā¢ š š¼š¶ššššæš¶šš²šæ: Moisturize morning and night, regardless of your skin type! Look for products with ceramides and fatty acids to nourish the skin barrier. If your skin is more oily, opt for lightweight moisturizers like gels and lotions. If your skin is dry, creams and balms are going to be better for binding hydration and moisture to your skin. My faves for oily skin? CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion , VERSED - DEW POINT Moisturizing Gel-Cream , and PAULA'S CHOICE - Probiotic Nutrient Moisturizer . My dry skin faves are NATURIUM - Plant Ceramide Rich Moisture Cream , THE inkey LIST - Peptide Moisturizer , and DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream .
ā¢ š¦šš»šš°šæš²š²š»: The most important step! Sunscreen is the ultimate anti-aging product, so reapply every two hours yāall. My main loves for all skin types are PAULA'S CHOICE - Youth-extending Daily Hydrating Fluid SPF 50 and elta md SKINCARE - UV Clear Broad Spectrum SPF 46 . Those with dry skin, Iāve been enjoying CeraVe - Face Sheer Tint Hydrating Sunscreen SPF 30 , though paler folks may prefer DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 .
Whatās your fave step? What extra step would you add in thatās not featured here? š
Keep up with the tag #Skincare101 to follow along this guide Iāll be posting to cover some basic concepts in skincare!

One Week Using Differin
Experience:
I started using Differin about a week ago to deal with my maskne and dark spots. Ever since I started wearing masks more frequently, my skin has essentially freaked out. Itās super sensitive and dry, especially around my mouth, but I get cystic-like acne along the area where my mask touches my face. I decided that I was going to try Differin as my last resort before going to the dermatologist (cause Iām still nervous about going to doctorās offices, unless absolutely necessary because of covid).
The instructions recommend daily use; however, I began my first week by using it every other day since Iāve had negative experiences/reactions with other active ingredients before. Since then, Iāve begun using it every night. I use this in the evening after cleansing and applying moisturizer and Aquaphorās healing ointment.
ļæ¼Pros: I definitely already see a visible improvement in my skin, especially with the hyperpigmentation that Iāve dealt with. I do use other products that help with brightening, but Iāve been using those products for quite a while and havenāt seen such a drastic improvement until now.
ļæ¼Cons: I experienced a few small breakouts around my chin, but they went away pretty quickly. I have yet to experience any significant purging/dryness, but I also didnāt jump immediately to daily use.
Other Products I Use + Frequency:
ļæ¼CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser (everyday, AM/PM)
ļæ¼DRUNK ELEPHANT - Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser(everyday to remove sunscreen, PM)
ļæ¼The Ordinary - Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA(every other day, alternate between this and the next product/AM)
ļæ¼The Ordinary - Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%(every other day, alternate between this and the previous product/AM)
ļæ¼DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream (everyday, AM/PM)
ļæ¼DRUNK ELEPHANT - Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30(everyday, AM)
ļæ¼Aquaphor - Healing Ointment Skin Protectant(everyday, use as a lip balm and to protect sensitive areas of my skin when applying Differin)

Avene sunscreen-nowhere to be seen?
I am a big believer of using sunscreen every single day. Itās vital to your skinās health and aging.
I used to use this sunscreen lotion every morning after I washed my face. I heard itās discontinued now or the formula changed..I didnāt find this specific one online, but I actually have 2 extra bottles still. (Iām currently trying the Supergoop sunscreen-just to make sure I have something to fall back on if Avene really does discontinue this product!)
I was initially intrigued by this product was that itās a French brand and I think French women have amazing skin! Iāve tried the brand Embryolisse and love that! So, I thought Iād give the brand Avene a go. I was in the market for a new sunscreen, as many drugstore sunscreens- such as neutrogena- left a white film on my skin, made me break out and did not photograph well in flash photography.
This product is marketed as āFormulated with powerful antioxidants and soothing AvĆØne Thermal Spring Water, it is ideal for daily use or in-sun activities and absorbs quickly into the skin for a natural, mattifying finish.ā
Itās fragrance, paraben and oil-free! Itās water-resistant for 80 minutes- thatās a claim I never really tested out.
I loved that it has SPF 50 and a matte finish. I have combo skin, which is more towards the oily side in the summer, so a matte sunscreen was necessary.
Itās easy to apply, just squeeze a dollop out of the bottle. The consistency is runny, itās not very thick. I feel like it gets messy sometimes because Iāll accidentally squirt too much product out and thereās no way to put it back in the bottle. So I just apply the rest to my hands. I always used a moisturizer afterwards though, even though it says itās a moisturizing lotion- my skin just needed a little more hydration! For normal skin, this might be enough moisturizing though! Only on days when I wasnāt going out of the house, Iād use it alone without a moisturizer. My pores never felt clogged and it truly was lightweight. I never felt like I was wearing anything heavy on my face.
Oh and this also does not have a fragrance...which is great because I hate the traditional smell of sunscreen- BLAHHH.
I think this product is very much worth your time, I used it for almost 3 years now and it gets the job done. Itās also hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic. I never broke out using this product and a little goes a long way! Itās totally worth adding sunscreen to your skincare routine it only takes an extra 20 seconds. I would recommend this sunscreen lotion if you have normal skin, you can skip moisturizer completely and use this 2 in 1 solution, and oily skin people, this will help keep your oily skin matte.
It retails at $28 for 1.7oz and ONLY for your face. Itās pricey but since it worked well with my skin, I never did mind paying $28 for a bottle which lasts me almost 3 months.
Iād give this product a 4 star review- only because of the consistency being too runny.
I really hope they donāt discontinue it. š

Protecting My Acne Prone Skināļøš¦
EDIT- The Purito sunscreen is currently being evaluated due to recent studies that it is only SPF 19. Iām currently using Beet Shield by Krave and recommend that instead.
š¦ I have sensitive combination skin and my main concern that I deal with is hormonal breakouts which when not treated correctly are cystic, red and painful.
š¦Currently my skin is recovering beautifully from the usual hormonal breakout around my cheek area. I still have some leftover hyperpigmentation from it but Iām actively treating that and seeing RESULTS with this routine, especially this Vitamin C oil which I also use to protect my skin from Bostonās harsh pollution.
āØProtini! This is my favorite moisturizer for my skin. It hydrates, doesnāt feel sticky and plays well with other products and make-up. I discovered this through Drunk Elephant and other skincare bloggers and have been in love ever since. Yes there are cheaper moisturizers out there but this plumps skin so gorgeously I donāt want to look for another. I use this after cleansing my skin and on occasion Iāll add a Hyaluronic acid serum before this. Pro tip- apply hydrating serums and then moisturizers to your face in that order WHILE your skin is still wet to prevent transepidermal water loss from happening to your skin! Iāve been using this for over a year and adore it.
āØLeah Rose + Glow Oil! This is the most stunning facial oil Iāve ever found and itās made by a small and newer business. My favorite things about this are the squalane for hydration and vitamin C for after my acne to get rid of that redness. Itās also a very brightening ingredient too. I love using an oil after moisturizer because it locks everything in and gives that extra boost of hydration. Iāve been using this for about half a year and will definitely be repurchasing.
āØCentella Green Level Unscented Sunscreen! This is a new sunscreen for me but regardless I believe SPF is THE SINGLE most important item to use to protect your skin from sun damage. This makes the skin feel smooth, is SPF 50 and doesnāt leave a white cast. I just got this this week and am already in love. It plays well with other products and of course protects you from damaging rays. Pro tip- your skin can be damaged by the sun through windows so even though weāre mostly stuck inside, itās important to keep this in your skincare routine to prevent damage. Sunscreen also helps with my skin redness and for my acne!
š¦This routine is one I fully stand by and discovered through other bloggers and just trial and error using a lot of products and figuring out the best way to lock in moisture for my skin. I love it and donāt plan on changing it up any time soon! Whatās your favorite routine to protect your skin?

šYou get 50 ml for $45 dlls on Purlisseās website! Or the 15 ml size for $20! I think its worth it for mw because other sunscreens leave white marks on my face

DRUNK ELEPHANT-Lala Retro Whipped Cream
š I seriously have so many products to try so if you enjoy my product reviews, then keep those š out! Today Iām going to talk about a product that I am completely obsessed with - supergoop Superscreen š« Iāve been wanting to get my hands on this baby since the day supergoop announced its launch. It wasnāt easy getting it, but Iām so happy I finally have it in my possession and it definitely didnāt disappoint 𤩠.
.
Superscreen is a moisturizer and sunscreen in one - like seriously, what more could you ask for?! It is extremely hydrating, provides the healthiest glow and protects you from the harmful rays of the sun + blue light (it contains SPF 40 - NO white cast)! I am not kidding when I say this stuff is amazeballs š the texture is quite creamy but feels extremely lightweight on the skin and a little goes a long way. It smells like.. Iām not sure hahaha a flower that Iāve smelled before but nothing too overwhelming. If youāre lazy and hate applying multiple products, then you need this in your life. Even if youāre not lazy, you still need this in your life. Itās just THAT good and I want everyone to give it a try šš¤£ I think itās affordable ($38 US/$54 CAD) because you literally kill two birds with one stone with this baby and it will also last you a looong time! šš¼
Supergoop!-Superscreen Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 40 PA+++
My Top 4 Favourite Moisturizers
Iāve tried a lot of moisturizers- Iām not Sephora Rouge for nothing! Many were okay for my combination skin, though less fit my skin when it was super oily and even less work now for my super sensitive skin, but these four are moisturizers I keep coming back to, due to their lovely textures and wonderful formulations.
[Products are depicted and listed thickest to thinnest]
DRUNK ELEPHANT - Lala Retro Whipped Cream is a fluffy yet rich whipped moisturizer that feels creamy and silky on skin, but quickly absorbs and leaves a satin finish. A somewhat pricy ($60/50mL) moisturizer Iād recommend for all skin types -though Iād recommend dried skin types add in an oil too- Lala contains ceramides, fatty acids, sodium hyaluronate, and a variety of whipped oils to offer skin barrier support and potent moisture without any shine. Iāll be repurchasing soon to use alongside my tretinoin regime!
PAULA'S CHOICE - Probiotic Nutrient Moisturizer manages to sit between a gel and a cream, offering medium-weight but potent moisture. I use this moisturizer currently, in the evening! Itās packed with pre-, pro-, and post-biotics to support a healthy skin microbiome to fight off unfriendly bacteria that could otherwise take up residence on skin to cause acne or irritation. I love this reasonably-priced ($42/50mL) moisturizer for how gentle it is, managing to soothe my tretinoin-irritated skin and apply to eczema flare-ups without any stinging. Iād recommend this for all skin types, though I find it seems to offer longer-term hydration than Lala so dry skin may not need to add an oil.
DRUNK ELEPHANT - Protini Polypeptide Cream is a lightweight gel moisturizer that is bouncy and hydrating, though I will say the only drawback to this moisturizer is its shiny finish that takes a while to fade. A bit pricy at $68 for 50mL. But it feels very light on the skin, making it perfect under makeup or (you better š) sunscreen, especially for combination, oily, and normal skin. This is primarily an anti-aging moisturizer and it feels absolutely divine coming fresh out of the fridge in the summer.
stratia - Liquid Gold is a light, silky treasure trove of skin-identical cholesterol, fatty acids, and ceramides to affordably ($27/60mL) and effectively nourish the skin barrier as the included niacinamide soothes any signs of irritation. I love this moisturizer so much! Itās versatile, working as a moisturizer for oily skin while also being a very moisturizing serum for dry skin to layer under another moisturizer. I especially love it on especially humid, hot days, as it never feels heavy and gives a non-shiny satin finish.
