Argan Beta- Retinoid Pink Algae Serum
For the past three weeks I have been testing the new Argan Beta-Retinoid Pink Algae serum from josiemarancosmetics. I have sensitive skin and I haven’t had any irritation or bad reaction. So that’s a plus 😉 ❤️I love that absorbs super fast on my skin and it doesn’t feel oily. ❤️I absolutely love that has all naturally- derived and organic ingredients. ~ SMELL~ It has a peculiar scent that comes from the argan oil but It’s not strong at all and if you are used to facial oils it won’t bother you. It goes away after few minutes. ~APPLICATION~ I have been using it on my night routine after my cleanser and toner. They recommend to use a moisturizer after and I did and my skin felt pretty good and hydrated. I have not seen any improves of my fine lines or UV damage but it might be too soon. Like any other skin product it takes time to see results. Overall I have to say that I really like it, so if you are into facial oils and looking for some extras like retinol you should give it a try.

Skin care journey
First post on this app! But I wanted to share my skincare journey. I never really had crazy issues with my skin but working at Sephora I always get new products to try and noticed more and more blemishes. First 2 pics are in July of 2019, last 2 pics were from a month ago. My skin used to always be combo dehydrated so I started using some rich moisture products, I’ll list them below. But after a few months I noticed my skin started breaking out more. I started talking to my skincare specialist and found out that I used too many oils/ rich creams and NOT enough water. So there is such a thing as rich in moisture and not enough hydration. Basically you always want to implement water into your skin, if it’s not drinking a ton of water (which I was) its using products that are more water based. Cleanser :GLAMGLOW - Supercleanse Clearing Cream-to-Foam Cleanser to innisfree - Green Tea Hydrating Cleansing Foam Moisturizer: TATCHA - The Dewy Skin Cream to innisfree - Intensive Hydrating Cream with Green Tea Seed am use. Kate Somerville - DeliKate Recovery Cream PM use. Toner: I didn’t use toners before but now I do. During the day I use innisfree - Green Tea Seed Intensive Hydrating Toner and for nighttime use OLE HENRIKSEN - Glow2OH Dark Spot Toner Serum: JOSIE MARAN - Argan Beta Retinol Pink Algae Serum to innisfree - Innisfree Green Tea Seed Serum paired with KORA - Noni Bright Vitamin C Serum for AM use. KORA - Noni Night AHA Resurfacing Serum for PM use. These products did a shift on my skin, I continue to do my exfoliations using my Clarisonic but haven’t found the right exfoliator as I still have a bit of sensitive skin. I still use a some rich creams but only for nighttime use. But after a huge change I noticed my skin is getting a tad bit better but it’s still a long journey ahead of me. *ps I know there’s a difference in lighting but my skin does look better now as it did a few months ago.
I have been using Josie Maran’s beta-retinol pink algae serum for a couple months & I love it. It’s a gentle retinol serum that never causes redness or irratation on my skin; it’s a drier serum so it doesn’t feel greasy- it’s also great for layering under oils & moisturizers. On days when I just need that extra hydration or I’ve done a treatment on my skin & need to replenish; I reach for Josie Maran’s skin dope hemp seed oil , it’s nourishing & hydrating. It does sink into skin nicely if you use a small amount , but I have over done it some nights & it did feel a bit oily, but since it was part of my nighttime routine I didn’t really mind. I also really enjoy Josie Maran’s skin dope CBD oil (not pictured) which is a little bit of a drier oil as well, it sinks into skin fast and makes my skin feel very smooth & nourished. I actually finished that one a couple months ago, def will repurchase these items in the future.💘I actually purchased the skin dope duo, about 6 months ago, which comes with the hemp seed & CBD oil in smaller sized bottles , but I’m unsure if Sephora still carries it as a set.
Consonant Vitamin E & Oat Antioxidant Serum
Product Function: The Consonant Skincare Vitamin E & Oat Antioxidant Serum is an oil-based serum that seeks to improve the long-term health of your skin by reducing redness and dehydration. It claims to give more youthful-looking, hydrated, and illuminated skin. Product Target Concerns: signs of aging and hyperpigmentation. Vitamin E is one of the best ingredients for reducing hyperpigmentation, making this great for those of you who have sensitive or dry skin, since this is such a gentle and nourishing formula. Texture: feels just like an oil, but it’s not too thick and heavy on the skin. Overall Thoughts & Opinions: First off, I love that this is such a simple formulation, containing only two ingredients- Vitamin E and oat oil. I received this as a PR sample from the folks over at Consonant, and I am truly so impressed by this formulation. Since incorporating it into my routine in August, I’ve noticed a visible reduction of dark spots and hyperpigmentation. I’m also loving it for the days that I use Differin, since it helps lock in hydration and prevent transepidermal water loss. The results won’t be immediate, but they will be visible if you’re committed to using it. Would I recommend? Definitely, if it’s in your budget. It’s expensive at $63/30ml, but if that’s within your budget, this is definitely worth checking out for the results it gives, especially since it’s so effortless Rating: 💛💛💛💛💛
I've only been using the Neogen White Truffle Serum in Oil Drop for a few days but here are my impressions. This serum feels watery on the skin but then beads up with oil drops. It takes a while for the oil component to absorb, and feels a little sticky while it does so. After full absorption, however, there is just the slightest smooth sheen on the skin (probably from the dimethicone as well as oils). GREAT ingredients list with niacinamide, ceramide, 3 kinds of hyaluronic acid, cholesterol, and truffle extract. I bought this on stylekorean Ingredients: water, dimethicone, glycerin, 1,2-hexanediol, niacinamide, adenosine, sodium cocoyl alaninate, palmitoyl isoleucine, pseudoalteromonas ferment extract, ceramide np, phytosphingosine, tuber magnatum extract (20ppb), dimethylmethoxychromanyl palmitate, proline, alanine, serine, sodium phosphate, hyaluronic acid, acetyl hexapeptide-8, pentapeptide-18, hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid, sodium hyaluronate, acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer, tromethamine, butylene glycol, xanthan gum, coptis japonica extract, cyanocobalamin, cyclopentasiloxane, ethylhexyl cocoate, dimethiconol, palmitic acid, macadamia integrifolia seed oil, elaeis guineensis (palm) oil, caprylyl glycol, cholesterol, persea gratissima (avocado) oil, stearic acid, adansonia digitata seed oil, ethylhexylglycerin, citric acid, sodium hydroxide
Bird spit for skin? Elizavecca CF Nest 97% Serum
This is my night serum and I’ve been using it for about five months now and I throughly enjoy it though I think it was better for me in the summer since I need more hydration now. This serum has a very light and watery gel consistency and absorbs easily into the skin. It adds moisture to my skin without making me oily. It also gives me a beautiful bouncy look to my skin that overjoys me! I do notice that my skin looks more lifeless on the lazy days I skip my routine. This product contains 97% protein rich EGF from Swiflet birds nests that they make with saliva. Now yes, this does sound gross but the there are benefits to this kind of EGF and there are no pieces of nest in the serum and only abandoned nests are used to not harm the birds. According to the klog EGF is great for wrinkle improvement, hydration, pigmentation prevention, and this particular type of EGF is high in proteins that stimulate cell growth and help skin elasticity. I love this product the only thing that makes me sad is the fact that it contains a perfumed scent to it which isn’t good for dry skin girls.
YEOUTH GLYCOLIC ACID Whew, y’all, this Gel Peel is strong stuff. It’s a 30% blend of glycolic acid (the smallest AHA—meant to help with hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles, and brighten and soften skin), green tea, and retinol. I was nervous to use it at first, and for pretty good reason. I do not have sensitive skin at all, and there was definitely some intense tingling, but nothing unbearable and no redness. The first time I used this product, I think I left it on too long, and it dried my forehead out pretty good, but the second time, I made sure to follow with a TON of hydrating products, cut the time down, and I was pleased with the results. My skin was so smooth! So, while I do think this product could benefit from an added hydrating/soothing ingredient, it’d work for someone looking for a powerful glycolic acid on a budget!
Good Molecules Hyaluronic Acid
I really really enjoy this product. Super lightweight, NOT STICKY, great serum consistency (it isn’t viscous), absorbs quickly, and really does it’s job of attracting moisture and locking it in. The result is plump, hydrated skin. I highly recommend this product and Good Molecules as a whole brand. Affordable and effective. This product is only $6 for 1oz, so if you are interested in trying a good hyaluronic acid, try this one! 5/5 🌟
One of my favorite everyday serums comes from amalia skin - their Antioxidant Milk. — This serum is unlike any other in my collection. It’s milky texture is a godsend for my dry skin and it wears like a dream under makeup. Ingredients include niacinamide, phloretin (to help lighten dark spots) and tetrahexydecyl ascorbate (a form of vitamin C). It’s one of the only vitamin C based serums that doesn’t irritate my skin or feel sticky until it fully absorbs. — There is only three products within Amalia’s range, but they’re all made with love and it shows. Their Refreshing Gel Cleanser is, by far, my favorite cleanser this year. The texture reminds me of Glossier’s Milky Jelly, but even gentler on my skin. It’s amazing! I’m at the bottle of my bottle of both the serum and cleanser and will absolutely repurchase.

My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
