My Honest Opinion
Ok, so in the spirit of being honest, let me start by saying that I pretty much only bought these products because of the hype surrounding them. I kept hearing about how clean the formulas were, so I decided to give them a try and my verdict is: I don't hate them.... but I don't love them. HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser

My “Ordinary” Journey
My skincare routine needed a revamp but I didn’t know where to start. I wanted to use products with good ingredients but I know many companies “green wash” to make you believe all their ingredients are great. I did lots of research and decided to give The Ordinary a try. A little background on my skin: I have aging skin (I’m pushing 38) and it’s been on the dryer side since having kids. I also tend to get peri-oral dermatitis every winter. Then of course, I still get occasional breakouts! Yay hormones 😜 In September, as I was running out of my current skincare products, I replaced them with The Ordinary. I chose HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser as I didn’t want anything to harsh or stripping on my dry skin. After I cleanse, I mist my face with HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Spray then apply The Ordinary - Matrixyl* 10% + HA Because this contains HA, it should be applied to damp skin. On top of that I apply The Ordinary - "Buffet" + Copper Peptides 1% I gave this 4 stars because it’s sooooo sticky and takes a while to dry down before I can move to my next step. After that drys, I go for The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I may not have clear skin all of the time, but when I do get blemishes, they clear up very quickly. This stuff is amazing! I follow that with The Ordinary - Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA and COOLA - Classic Full Spectrum 360 Sun Silk Drops SPF 30 Since starting this routine, my skin looks so much better when I apply makeup and when I don’t wear any, My skin tone much more even. And this year, as winter approached, I did not develop peri-oral dermatitis. My skin retains moisture so much better than it ever has.
Tretinoin and Spironolactone Progress July-Dec
I’m back! And wow what a difference! I’ve since switched upped my dosage to Apostrophe 0.05% tret with 4% Niacinimide cream forumula beginning in November. I’m also taking 50 mg of Spirinolactone now. My face has definitively gotten a lot drier, with some mild peeling throughout the day (any tips are welcome!) I’m going to see how waiting 15 mins before apply tret after moisturizer and 15 minutes after tret will work Overall, I feel like my forehead has a smoother texture, and I’m seeing less breakouts. I now definitely want to start working on reducing the appearance of my acne scars, but with my face so dry right now, I’m not sure if that’s an option. I’m going to wait a while and talk to my derm about adding in any actives. Also very sad about the Purito sunscreen scandal :-( Here’s my routine below: Morning (focus on hydration and barrier) CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum HONEST - Hydrogel Cream BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum BRUJITA - Vegan Crema Supergoop! - Glow Stick SPF 50 Night (applying tret nightly-wondering whether to reduce to every other day ) DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil HONEST - Gentle Gel Cleanser (or COSRX - Low PH Good Morning Gel Cleanser ) dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence HONEST - Hydrogel Cream Then putting BRUJITA - Vegan Crema on my driest areas Apostrophe Cream BRUJITA - Hechizo Facial Serum BRUJITA - Vegan Crema

Versed Skin Soak Rich Moisture Cream
VERSED - SKIN SOAK Rich Moisture Cream This moisturizer has vitamin e, algae extract, and squalane (it hydrates and replenishes the skin). Versed recommends that oily skin types only use this as a PM moisturizer, but drier skin types can use this for AM and PM. 👉🏻I like this moisturizer, but nothing beats HONEST - Hydrogel Cream . The Versed moisturizer is a very rich cream when you apply it to the skin, and soaks into the skin very quickly. I have dry skin, so I prefer moisturizers that leave a little residue on the skin to help retain the moisture. This moisturizer would work better as a AM moisturizer for me. If I use it as a PM moisturizer, I have to add a little face oil on top to help seal in the moisture. 💵This face cream is $17.99 at Target. It’s a decent price for the amount of product in the jar. This product would last a long time, Versed recommends using a pea sized amount and trust me, a little of this product goes a long way! ♻️Another thing I love about Versed; this container is recyclable (most of their product’s containers are). You just have to clean out the container and put it in your curbside recycling!
NEW FIND! And I’m pleasantly surprised!?
It was time to get a new moisturizer. I was currently using the HONEST - Hydrogel Cream paired with the PAULA'S CHOICE - Omega+ Complex Moisturizer , RADHA BEAUTY - Rosehip Oil , and timeless SKIN CARE - Squalane Oil 100% Pure because I have pretty dry skin. I love both of those moisturizers (although I’m not fond of all the Paula’s choice Omega+ complex moisturizer ingredients, but I loooooove the texture and feeling of it ) and love my oils (I won’t stop using the oils), but knew I needed a richer cream and also wanted to keep it down to just one cream, for time and my bank accounts sake. So if you’ve seen my last post, I was deciding between 3 brands but I couldn’t decide and was also nervous to try a new moisturizer, even though I knew I needed one, because I’m also acne prone so a new moisturizer to me was just terrifying lol. I was about to just get my usual HONEST - Hydrogel Cream because I knew it didn’t break me out and I like it a lot, although not quite as moisturizing as I need, it was on the safer side and I can’t imagine going a day without a moisturizer on this Sahara desert of a face!!! But then I discovered this brand I’ve never seen before? It’s called Awake Human. It’s not even a listing on Cherie for me to add the product! I read the ingredients and was intrigued (scroll through pics to see ingredients list), but because of my fear of new moisturizers, I was hesitant.. but I decided to bite the bullet because the ingredients looked amazing, was cheaper than Paula’s choice and the honest beauty’s moisturizer, but had the same amount of product. I received it a few days ago and I am in love!!!!! Soooooo rich and creamy and hydrating feeling, and it had the same smooth, rich, texture as the Paula’s Choice omega moisturizer, that I love so much!!! It comes in a nice little pump type of packaging, which I like. Keeps bacteria and gunk out. If you scroll through my pictures, you’ll see it. And a little bit goes a long way! The picture you see of the product on my fingers is the amount I use, but you can totally use less, especially if you have more oily or normal skin. I just like a lot of moisturizer! Lol I’ve noticed my face is much less dry feeling and looks smoother with less texture. I will keep you updated, but I think this is my new fave!!!! I’m so excited lol. Here the link the purchase: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07NWXJYVK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_YHI-Fb9BRJKT0?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 If you’re hesitant but intrigued like I was, I strongly encourage you to just try it. And if it happens that doesn’t work for your face, because remember, everyone is different and skincare is not a one size fits all, then it would most definitely be a really really nice hand cream, that would fit nicely in your bag. Have you heard of this brand before? And if so, have you used anything from them?
Youth to the People Empties 🍃
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser I was looking for a gentle cleanser and bought this sample-sized bottle after hearing Hyram rave about this product. I also have a friend with oily skin who loves this cleanser. Texture - the texture is the same consistency as a shampoo or liquid soap, and becomes a foamy lather when you rub it onto your face. Scent - I actually quite enjoyed the scent of this product. It does not contain synthetic fragrance, but it smells like a green smoothie. Application - YTTP packages their products in glass bottles and jars, which I appreciate from a sustainability standpoint. But it does make this product a little risky to use if you wash your face in the shower. I accidentally dropped my bottle in the shower once—it didn’t shatter, but it chipped a piece of enamel off of my bathtub 😐 Other than that, the product was easy to pour out of the bottle. Results - I wasn’t a huge fan of this product. It didn’t cause any breakouts or irritation, but every time after I used it, my face would feel tight and dry, and I felt like I would have to immediately moisturize. I think it was too harsh for my sensitive skin, but people with oily or more resilient skin might like this. Would not repurchase for myself, I ended up finishing this product off as a body wash 🤷🏻♀️ YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi I received this mini jar as a sample in one of my Sephora orders. Texture - the texture is a slightly whipped cream. It reminds me of Cool Whip in the tub, but slightly thicker in consistency. Scent - like the cleanser, this also does not have synthetic fragrance, but I’m not sure how to describe the scent? It kind of smelled like flour mixed with baby powder to me, but it wasn’t too overpowering or obvious. Application - this comes in a glass jar. Results - I felt very neutral about this product. I saw that some people experienced irritation due to sensitivity to the mushrooms in this product, but I didn’t experience any. It moisturized my face fine, but felt no different than an average drugstore moisturizing cream. Given this and the fact that the price for the full-sized jar is rather high, I would not repurchase. If you end up trying this product out, I suggest patch testing to be sure that you don’t have a sensitivity to the mushrooms. Hope this helps! I know Hyram and a lot of other people love this brand, and I appreciate their commitment to sustainability. However, I felt pretty meh about both of these products and am not super interested in anything else from them at this point in time.
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE-Adaptogen Deep Moisture Cream with Ashwagandha + Reishi
My favorite skin care products!
I am obsessed with the Milk makeup cleanser and moisturizer! I have been using them since may! Both products are vegan. The cleanser is perfect for someone like me with normal to dry skin. It doesn’t have a fragrance at all. It is kind of thick but I love that ! Some cleansers I have used in the past would leave my skin feeling weird and dry. I would also end up breaking out shortly after using other cleansers. My face feels soft and clean after using the milk vegan cleanser. I haven’t experienced and breakouts after using it. The moisturizer really helps keep my dry skin hydrated ! It is a little on the thicker side but it feels amazing on the skin. If you have oily skin I recommend only using it at night.
Milk MAKEUP-Vegan Milk Cleanser
bliss Rose Gold Rescue collection for sensitive skin, this trio arrived at my doorstep with perfect timing. They’re perfectly packaged in blush pink and rose gold and, like all Bliss products, they’re super affordable. Not to play favorites, but the Gentle Foaming Cleanser is really amazing. I love a good foaming cleanser because they leave my skin feeling clean, but can tend to be drying. This cleanser has a milky, creamy foam that works gently to clean the skin and rinses clean. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight or dry. It also has a slightly iridescent sparkle due to the colloidal gold and a subtle rose scent from rose water. The Soothing Toner Mist is a gorgeous rose water based toning spray that soothes and refreshes the skin. I love the convenience factor of toning sprays and this one is lovely. It feels soothing and doesn’t irritate my skin at all. Last, but certainly not least, is the Gentle Moisture Cream. This moisturizer has a somewhat thick, balm-like texture; not unlike a night cream, but melts into the skin with little effort. It doesn’t leave any greasy residue or feel heavy once it’s absorbed and has a subtle rose scent. I will say that, as someone with dry skin, it’s not quite hydrating enough for me. While I do love the texture, I think it may be better suited to those with normal to oily skin. I’ll definitely give it another go when the weather gets warmer and my skin isn’t so temperamental. I found the entire collection to be calming and soothing.

Sunrise Skin Routine - AM Edition
Hello lovies! I am back with my most up to date morning skincare routine! Some background information is that I have oily combo skin and deal with occasional dry patches on my face. During the spring and summer season I don’t have the dry patches but once the weather changes, temperatures drop, and the air gets dry in the east coast - it’s dry patches around the corners of my lips and edges around my nose. Every morning when I wake up these are the three items is I use, I’ll start with order of use. I begin with the Glossier. - Milky Jelly Cleanser to wash of my face and clear any residue built over night. I like that this product is not too strong nor does it carry a strong scent which makes it perfect for all skin types in my opinion. This cleanser includes five skin conditioners that is perfect for not over drying the face after wash. According to Glossier, it is “soothing, purifying, and nourishing.” I 100% agree with the statement. This item retails from $9.00-$18.00, depending on size. I am almost done with this bottle and plan on repurchasing. The second item I use is the Vaseline - Cocoa Butter Healing Jelly, Rich Moisturizing ! I apply this specifically to the dry patches of my face that I mentioned earlier. I have been using Vaseline on my face for over five years, I think it does an excellent job of providing hydration to the dry spots of the face. Ironically, I have some super oily spots on my face so it’s funny that I have to apply Vaseline to other areas. This item is a steal too - one small container costs only $1.79! During the winter season this baby here is a life saver and even during the warmer seasons I occasionally apply it in the morning too. The last item I use in my morning skincare routine is the FIRST AID BEAUTY - Ultra Repair Cream Pink Grapefruit . This is the moisturizer I apply all over the face except for places I applied my Vaseline on. This baby provides the perfect amount of hydration for the oily, normal, and dry spots on my face! It’s not too overpowering and you feel your face just take in the hydration! I absolutely love that this item can be used for those dealing with intense dryness or distress skin. This works incredible on my skin and I have experienced zero breakouts from this routine. I have been using this specific routine for the last three months! The routine has always been the same it begins with some face wash, Vaseline, and then a moisturizer. I’ve been fortunate enough to win a few giveaway and thus discovered Glossier and First Aid Beauty. I think this combo works well for my skin type and believe it would work well for those with similar oily combo skin types. It doesn’t bring more attention to the oily spots and it hydrates the spots that need more love! Stay around for my PM routine - it’s coming up soon!

Perfect travel kit from Youth to the People
Girl you KNOW I love a good skincare set. Especially one that lets me try new products (with a budget price) OR allows me to have convenient travel sizes when I travel. This kit (the Youth Mini Duo YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Cleanser + Cream Youth Duo Mini ) from Youth to the People has been available on YTTP’s website for over 2 years! It contains mini sizes of their cleanser & their lightweight moisture cream. I had previously tried their cleanser, which I LOVE (see below) but I hadn’t tried their moisture cream so I was excited to purchase this set! For $20 (this doesn’t have an advertised “value of”) I think this is a great deal! Plus their packaging is able to be recycled and up cycled! Here are my thoughts on each individual product: Cleanser: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser 5/5 Likes: this cleanser is so hydrating omg. It has a very slight lather from its thick gel consistency and washes away for a squeaky clean finish (similar to bar soap) but it doesn’t feel drying at all. It is a great basic cleanser that doesn’t upset sensitive skin! Dislikes: WOW this smells very heavily of kale! Very earthy. I dislike that it doesn’t have a pump but it is a small inconvenience. Moisture cream: YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream 5/5 Likes: this cream...omg. It is such a UNIQUE experience. The cream itself is very light and airy, absorbing into the skin so fast! It did leave a somewhat matte appearance to my skin but no dry feeling. In fact, my skin felt EERILY soft. I was like? What? This is MY SKIN? Not a baby’s butt? Plus I always get wary of products with natural ingredients because they often set off my sensitive skin. Well, not this baby! Dislikes: again, the scent is VERY herbaceous + earthy. It doesn’t linger for long but wow. It does not smell pleasant. Have you tried anything from Youth to the People?

Farmacy: my fave and least fave product
I really like Farmacy a lot. They produce innovative, quality products, and I haven’t heard anything negative about them as a brand. I’ve tried a good number of their things (still want to try the famous Honeymoon glow tho!) so I feel like I have a pretty good knowledge of the brand overall. I like that they don’t have a million different products that serve the same purpose—while choice is nice, some brands have like eight cleansers and twelve creams and it just gets to be overwhelming for me. Farmacy seems to focus more on quality than quantity, which I can get behind. They’re also vegan and cruelty free, which is important to me. I started trying their products years ago when I first started getting into skincare, and I keep trying new ones because I really like the brand overall. Out of all the products I’ve tried, my favorite is green clean because WOW. I see why everyone is obsessed with it—scooping it out with the spatula is addicting, it smells incredible, and it instantly dissolves all of my makeup with no problem whatsoever. I don’t need to use a ton because I don’t wear a lot of makeup, so I think this tub will last me a looong time. Considering that, $34 is a good price. The only complaint I have is that it leaves a film on my eyes for a while after I use it to remove eye makeup—I don’t have that issue with The Ordinary’s squalane cleanser, my other makeup removing balm. Okay, so Better Daze Ahead is definitely my least favorite product that I’ve tried from Farmacy. It’s not that I absolutely hate it, but compared to others, I think it’s overpriced for what you get (at least for my skin). It claims to target dryness and redness, and maybe I’m not that impressed because redness isn’t a huge issue for me. It also contains CBD and adaptogens, which honestly I think are gimmicky ingredients that everyone seems to be adding to products now. The texture is very pleasant and I personally really like the natural, herbal smell, but... I haven’t seen any dramatic results from this. And at sixty!! eight!! dollars!! for a 1.7oz jar, I need this to clear my skin, do my homework, and clean my kitchen for me. This may be really great for people with severe dryness and redness, but for me it just is not worth the money.
