2 of The Ordinary products that are worth the hype
2 of The Ordinary products that are worth the hype
It was impossible for me to ignore the hype around The Ordinary products. I mean, when it comes to celebrities recommending luxury products on their social media, it doesn’t trigger anything in me as I tend to think it’s just advertising and nothing else. But when social media influencers from all over the world start recommending products that are like less than 10 euros, it is certainly worth a try! In my first order from The Ordinary, I’ve got Natural Moisturizing Factors +HA and Squalane Cleanser and I’m very pleased with them both!   Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA The reason why I wanted to try this moisturizer in the first place is the no-nonsense title and label. I mean I just want a moisturizer, why name it overly complicated? Just call it by its name! This one is rich in amino acids, ceramides, hyaluronic acid and fatty acids and keeps the skin hydrated without leaving behind a greasy film. I noticed the results immediately. The skin felt better, properly hydrated, plumper. This is a product that didn’t promise the moon, only moisturizing and did a great job delivering just this. It costs about 5 euros (30 ml) and if you ask me, it is totally worth the hype. Squalane Cleanser I used to be fully committed to my micellar water cleansing routine, but since the Squalane cleanser was a part of the daily set I ordered, I wanted to try. The indication is to rub a small amount of product between the palms of your hands and then massage into the skin of the face and rinse with plenty of water. At first, the cleanser has like a moisturizer texture, but when you start rubbing, it gets warm and turns into an oily lotion. Application is easy and the cleanser does a good job in removing makeup. Since I can’t give up on my micellar water, I am using the Squalane cleanser only in the evenings, to get rid of makeup and the micellar water in the mornings. Squalane cleanser leaves my skin soft and clean, no drying or oily sensation. I’d definitely recommend it to friends!

My top 3 drugstore highlighters
My top 3 drugstore highlighters
Today I am really excited to share my drugstore highlighters, which are so affordable and easily to blend into my skin. What I gonna share are more like wet-looking and still have strong reflection when facing the light. And even though Colourpop is not really a drugstore brand, the price is really competitive, and the products are amazing.  Let’s start from the cheapest one, the mineral highlighter #010 from Catrice, which is an Illuminator cooked baked powder and micro mineral pigments that reflect light to a shiny appearance. This is a beautiful silver pearl color, and I can see a little pink flash after applying on my face. And it can be built up to get a really intense glow and wet-looking. CATRICE COSMETICS - High Glow Mineral Highlighting Powder The next one is the Megaglo highlighter from Wet n wild named Golden flower crown, which is a nice gold color. It is less metallic than the other color in this collection, so I love to dust it all around my face and have a nice natural glow. It is definitely buildable and I like doing a soft glam look using it, really love it when I do a golden-brown eye look and wear a red lipstick.   wet n wild - Megaglo Highlighting Powder The last one is my favorite Super Shock highlighter from Colourpop named flexitarian, which is a pearl undertone and perfect for fair skin. What is amazing is that It looks so intense on the cheek but still looks wet. I can also throw it on my browbones and the inner corner of my eyes, perfect for shooting or just taking pictures when travelling.  COLOURPOP - Super Shock Highlighter I feel like drugstore brands can always give me surprise, because they are so affordable, and I value more on products than on packaging. They are really worth a try.

My most re-purchased Ordinary products
My most re-purchased Ordinary products
Okay so, I have tried 21 products from The Ordinary so far over three-ish years. It might not seem like too many, but man to my skin it feels like a lot of trial and error. But I wanted to go back and narrow down my collection to my most repurchased Ordinary products. These are the ones that work best for my combo / acne prone skin and keep me coming back for more! And of course, as you know, they are all very affordable. The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution I absolutely love this toner / chemical exfoliator. I use it 1 time a week during my evening routine and wouldn’t use it more than that because it can be a bit sensitizing. But every time I use this toner, the next morning my texture and pores are visibly reduced and my skin looks smooth and glow-y. You get quite a good amount of product and it typically lasts me at least 4 months. The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque I like this mask a lot! It’s great for taking on oil skin or the occasional pimple. The salicylic acid and charcoal make this feel very cleansing and satisfying. I do prefer this to the salicylic acid serum because I have found that to be a bit too drying if I leave it on the skin. I mentioned in another review that this product didn’t help me get rid of all my acne, but it definitely helped. I use this once every 1-2 weeks or whenever my skin needs a little detox. The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 I love this serum in the winter. I don’t often get dry spots, but if I see that my skin if feeling a little dry in any area, I’ll just pat a bit of this on under my moisturizer and then I’m good to go. Sometimes I use this on my legs if they are especially dry. I also really like how the ordinary has started to sell bigger bottles of some key products. As a consistent user, I like the bigger bottle because it leads to less waste. The Ordinary - ''Buffet'' I’m a big fan of Buffet. I use this probably 2x a week, or sometimes more if I want to give my skin a break from actives and just want to make my skin feel extra plump. The formula is very hydrating and although I have my doubts about products that claim anti-wrinkle benefits, I do think my skin looks smoother after using it. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution This is kind of a cheat... because I repurchased this is after my first one fell and smashed on the bathroom floor. 🙃 BUT I am happy I repurchased it because when I do use this my skin looks so so good the next morning. Particularly my skin tone and pores look much better the next day. I use this probably more like 1x every two weeks because I swear no matter how little product I apply it does sting a little. And that’s probably not good... but I’ll justify it with glowy skin. And shout out to my trusty The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% that is also amazing but missing from the pic! 🥰
