Acne sufferers need to read!!!
If you suffer from acne and don’t know what could be causing it, the problem could be rooted right into your skin care routine! Comedogenic ingredients (pore clogging) like coconut oil and sodium chloride have the highest comedogenic ratings and you would be surprised at how many companies use them in their products!! Products that say that they are meant to get rid of acne! These companies want your money and they want you to think that it is YOUR skin that is the problem and not THEIR products, so that you will keep SPENDING MONEY ON THEIR PRODUCTS!!!! Google search, “Comedogenic ingredients” and stop using your products if they contain a comedogenic ingredient with a rating higher than 2. Shea butter and argan oil are 2 examples of noncomedogenic, non pore clogging oils that are amazing for acne prone skin! Added fragrance is also an ingredient that can aggravate skin. Synthetic fragrance is a biggie but also natural fragrance like essential oils in leave on products. Citrus oils like lemon or orange in rinse off products like a cleanser or cream mask is good for skin, though. It took a lot of time, money, research and trials and errors but I am happy that my skin is finally clear and that I can help others get to this point as well! My non comedogenic skin care regimen: All of my skin care is cruelty free brands. That’s all I will use when it comes to anything I buy. Cruelty free. 🐰💗 Cleanser: ANDALOU NATURALS - Cleansing Gel, Citrus Kombucha, Clear Skin

_sapphire_sI agree with the idea that some products and ingredients may contribute to pore clogging etc. but there is no such thing as “non comedogenic.” Just like “natural” skin care exists, the term “non comedogenic” is an unregulated term that no country in the world has a measurable standard for. However, just like my good old Cerave, companies use these terms to market products and appeal to consumers despite the fact any one can say “non comedogenic.” These online rating systems should really not be how people define what to spend money on. They are really misleading and many websites don’t even agree on the same product’s rating, they contribute to fear mongering. The formulation of “comedogenic” products with other products can easily make a “comedogenic” ingredient super effective and appropriate for the skin, so be weary of these super trendy & marketable terms and how they effect your search for skincare (e.g. clean, natural, fragrance free)

BrittanySorichYou are misinformed. There are many noncomedogenic ingredients lists and they are VERY helpful guidelines to keeping your skin acne free. Do not misunderstand the list, though. Everybody will not get acne from every single ingredient on that list. Most of the ingredients with a rating of 5 will make most people with acne prone skin break out. With numbers 1-4 there is a CHANCE it will make you break out. The noncomedogenic ingredients list is to help people understand why they may be breakout out. Your supposed to cross check your products ingredients to the list of ingredients on the comedogenic ingredients list. If the your product contains 1 of the ingredients on that list, then that is the ingredient that is mostlikely breaking you out and you should discontinue use. 1 ingredient for example: coconut oil has a rating of 5 which is the highest chance that it will clog your pores. Rarely, there are people with acne prone skin that can use that oil and not get any acne. Everyone’s skin IS different but most people breakout from the same ingredients on the comedogenic ingredients list.

Battle of The Andalou Naturals Masks! ⭐
ANDALOU NATURALS - 1000 Roses, Rosewater Mask, Sensitive 🌷 This is a great mask for people with sensitive, dry, or irritated skin! It calms down any redness I have, and nourishes my skin. Star Ingredients! ⭐ - Alpine rose stem cells - Aloe Vera - Rosehip Fruit oil - Hyaluronic acid - Other Soothing ingredients like White tea and Boswell extract, etc. I usually use it after using a strong clay or exfoliating mask. I wouldn't say it does a WHOLE lot for my skin, or made any dramatic changes, but definitely a nice one to have around! This has a better formulation then most luxury "calming" masks on the market. The ingredient list isn't a bunch of BS to say the least! But It honestly feels just like a heavy moisturizer that I slather on then rinse off in 20 minutes. It would probably be a great overnight mask! ANDALOU NATURALS - Glycolic Mask, Pumpkin Honey, Brightening 🍯 I loooove this mask! This is an exfoliating, brightening and clarifying mask! Star Ingredients! ⭐ - Pumpkin - Manuka Honey - Fruit stem Cells and BioActive Berry Complex - Vitamin C - Glycolic Acid - Apple and Pineapple fruit extracts as well as few (non-comegodenic) nourishing oils. Pumpkin contains vitamin A, C and E and antioxidants which help to fight sun damage and wrinkles. It also has naturally exfoliating fruit enzymes. Manuka honey is anti-inflamatory and antibacterial, which makes it a great ingredient in fighting acne. The vitamin C and Glycolic acid also help to brighten and even out skin tone and texture. This mask helps with dull, textured skin and does some serious exfoliating! Right upon application it stings a little, and even after multiple uses it still always stings in the beginning. It may FEEL like it's irritating your skin for the first few minutes, but stick with it! It also makes my face pretty red, especially for the first 5-10 minutes of using it, but it doesnt bother me. After I take it off and do my skincare routine for the night the redness completely goes away. But if you have sensitive skin I would be cautious with this mask. 🌟 The Winner for me is the Brightening Pumpkin Honey Glycolic Mask!! 🌟 But it's hard to choose considering how different they are! Each of them serve a different purpose and does its job well!! Personally, because of my skin type, I benefit more from this one then the rose water mask. But both are well formulated products with AMAZING price points. Highly recommend!
Need advice! Skincare
I’ve started using really getting into my skincare over the last couple of months and need some help and recommendations! I don’t want to spend a fortune on my skincare if I don’t have to but am happy to splurge on products if they will really work for me. I have oily skin and hormonal acne (two weeks of the month my skin is super clear, the other two, I get a lot of breakouts!) I also have a bit of pigmentation and scarring. These are the products I’ve been using and my thoughts so far! Morning: Simple - Hydrating Cleansing Oil great for removing makeup and for a base cleanse before using a foaming cleaner sebamed - sebamed Liquid Face & Body Wash I love this cleanser! It’s gentle and soap free and leaves my face feeling clean! - AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum I’ve been using this for about 6 or 8 weeks now and i wouldn’t call it a “miracle” but it seems to be helping. Any spots I have clear up a lot more quickly than they used to The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I think this product has helped reduce my pores, especially around my nose and under my eyes #Andalou Naturals - Argan Stem Cell Recovery Cream#I’ve only recently added this into my regime as I love their brightening renewal cream Night: I use the same cleaners as in the morning Followed by The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution makes my skin feel nice toned after cleansing Followed by the same - AHA BHA PHA 30 Days Miracle Serum ANDALOU NATURALS - Renewal Cream, Probiotic + C, Brightening I am obsessed with this brightening cream, I have been using it for years and it makes a big difference to my skin in terms of tone, texture and blemishes The Ordinary - Retinol 1% in Squalane very oily but leaves my skin feeling soft and my skin texture has improved since using Masks: I alternate mask use depending on my skins needs The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque I use this sparingly maybe once a week, the first time I used it I couldn’t believe the difference it made to my skin, I had little bumps around my nose and this cleared them up almost instantly! ANDALOU NATURALS - Glycolic Mask, Pumpkin Honey, Brighteningthis one is new to me, the first time I used it it stung my skin quite a bit, which according to the website is normal, I haven’t seen anything amazing yet but from reviews I have read I will definitely keep using it #Innisfree - Jeju volcanic melting clay mask[FourStars] I love this because it is warm on the skin so it is lovely in winter, it’s exfoliating and leaves my skin feeling fresh Spot treatment: #Innisfree - Bija Cica Gel[FiveStars] helps clear spots quickly Please leave any recommendations and tell me what I can do better! I’m up for learning and just want beautiful fresh skin all month long!

why YOU should be using AZELAIC ACID
azelaic acid is a super amazing ingredient in skincare ! it aids in: even skin tone target stubborn spots soothes irritation & redness PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster 🍃key ingredients 🍃 azelaic acid (skin brightening, texture improving) glycerin (skin replenishing) salicylic acid (exfoliant) licorice root extract (skin soothing) I really really love this product!! it claims to do what is listed above, and I must say that it does this. I use this every night in my routine. it is a cream texture which I was surprised with at first because I had previously used the NATURIUM - Azelaic Topical Acid 10% which is a serum formula. before using this product, when I would pop my pimples...(I know I know, but we have all been there right?!), I would wake up with a huge scar on my face with redness everywhere! NOW, (for the occasional time that I do get pimples and pop them), the redness fades very soon after and I wake up looking like I never had a pimple there in the first place! my jawline tends to be prone to texture & pimples, and I believe that this product is a key reason as to why I don’t get many bumps or pimples there anymore!! I swear by this product and will definitely be trying to repurchase it in the future if my budget allows me to haha. PAULA’S CHOICE: 1oz for $36

Smaller Looking Pores!! 😱😱🤩🤩
Is this the real life, is this just fantasy 🎶 Cue Freddie Mercury because my pores haven’t looked this good in soooo long!!! 😍😍😍 The first picture is my skin journey log from today and the second is the from the start of my skin care journey last June. This is the first time since my first log that my pores have been in the green!! It’s incredible!! (If you want to know the products I use, check out my last two posts.) Yes, I know, my acne isn’t the best right now. That’s because my chin is in the process of purging. I’m using a lot of new products and ingredients and my skin needs a little time to adjust. I usually get pimples on my chin so this is a pretty normal behavior for my skin but hopefully within the next few day, the amount on my chin will decrease (if I would just stop picking!) ❌ Other products that I have been trying out lately are The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solutionand PETER THOMAS ROTH - Masking Minis 5-Piece Mask Kit which I will do more posts on later as I use them more. I’ve only used each of the masking minis once along with the peeling solution once, but so far I’m really liking the black mask and the pumpkin mask! Follow me for more posts about my journey and comment below anything you want to see me post about! 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 What helps you when your skin is purging? 🤔 Looking for tips and tricks! Thanks, lovely people!! 💖💖
Glass Skin > Ordinary Peeling Solution
Okay so a few weeks ago I made a post on how I changed my mind on The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Originally I was ready to bring it right back after trying for weeks but apparently I was keeping it on for too long and it was just making my skin worse. For the longest time, I was thinking that my skin has been so desensitized by products that I need to wear products for double the time they suggested (with hydrating products this sometimes works) but DEFINITELY not for this one. I started wearing it for 8-9 minutes rather than 10-15 and definitely seeing more improvements so I gave it a good review, but now that PEACH & LILY - Glass Skin Refining Serum has come into my life, I may have once again changed my mind. This is a serum that claims to smooth your skin and even tone using peach extract, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and peptides. Below I have provided Ulta’s notes on it! RECOMMENDED FOR: • Dullness and uneven skin tone • Rough skin texture • Wrinkles, fine lines, sagging • Dehydrated skin • Redness, inflammation WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU: • Peach Extract: full of vitamins, minerals, and essential acids to help keep skin resilient • Niacinamide: helps quell inflammation, brighten and provide antioxidative benefits • Asian Mountain Yam Extract: helps to reduce flakiness • Madecassoide: helps curb inflammation and stimulate collagen production • Hyaluronic Acid Complex: blend of short-chain, medium-chain and long-chain hyaluronic acid molecules that moisturizes every layer of skin, leaving it hydrated, plumped and radiant • Peptide Complex: proprietary blend of peptides that signals collagen production, helping fill fine lines and deeply-etched wrinkles, while firming skin for a smoother, glassier appearance Verdict: After using this serum ONE TIME I noticed a DRASTIC change in my skin that I was expecting from The Ordinary Peeling Solution and didn’t get after using for almost 6 months. Slowly it started to show results, but nothing even CLOSE to Peach and Lily. With Peach and Lily, not only do I see a total lack of acne and scarring that I had before, but the redness that normally shows in my skin is almost nonexistent and my face is finally the same shade as my neck. This is definitely one of my top 5 products I’ve ever used. How I Use: Morning: Wash my face with THE BODY SHOP - Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser Top with serum and a moisturizer with sunscreenCeraVe - Hydrating Sunscreen Face Lotion SPF 50 Night: Wash my face with either the tea tree cleanser or bliss - Micro Magic depending on how long I wore my Covid mask that day (Micro Magic seems to help with maskne) Saturate a cotton pad with Fourth Ray - Waterfall Gentle Toner and rub it all over, let it dry and top with CLINIQUE - Moisture Surge Intense Skin Fortifying Hydrator

First Impressions Aztec Secret Clay Mask
After reading so many good reviews, I bought this today at Target for $7.99. I used water to mix with the powder in a bowl. I tried mixing with my fingers but you definitely need a spoon. I couldn’t get the mix just right at first so I ended up making a bit more than I needed. I layered the mask AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay thick on my face. It felt nice and cool going on and was easy to spread. Since I had so much I used the rest on my neck, chest and my feet. I kept it on for 20 mins. At around the 10 minute mark the mask starts to harden and pull your face tight... A little bit later it starts to “pulse” on your face. Once I washed it off, my skin felt really clean and everything was so soft. I didn’t have much redness on my face immediately after. My pores were slightly smaller after this first time. I definitely can’t wait to continue with this mask! I will update once I use this mask for a while. Second Impression: Since I still had so much of the mask left, I put it in a ziplock bag and decided to try it again the next day. This time it was a little more intense on. I did wear it for about 5 or 10 mins longer. Right after removing the mask, my face and neck were red all over this time. The next day, my face was very soft and seemed to be less red & clearer. I can’t wait to continue this mask weekly.
Just another journey
Natural hair chronicles.👩🏽🦱 Based off research & experience I’d say my hair is either high porosity or a mixture of both. Furthermore, I have multiple textures when its wet. Therefore, I still don’t know exactly how to cater to my whole head just yet & I’ve been natural for years. Protein overload 🚫 Ahhh, I realized recently that almost every product i’ve used had some type of protein in it.😳 My hair is very strong but doesn’t retain moisture like it used to. Consequently, I have to change my entire routine to products that don’t contain any protein or coconut oil. ⚠️Current Routine: Shampoo: SheaMoisture - Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo. I’ll be alternating withKinky-Curly - Come Clean, Natural Moisturizing Shampoofor clarifying. I’ll also incorporate AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay when necessary. Conditioner: aussie - Miracle Moist 3 Minute Miracle with Avocado for Dry Hair Repairfor detangling. Deep conditioner: SheaMoisture - Raw Shea Butter Moisture Recovery Treatment Masque Packette Styling: (not in order) SheaMoisture - Raw Shea Butter Extra-Moisture Detangler Kinky-Curly - Knot Today, Natural Leave In / Detangler #Camille Rose - Fresh Curl Revitalizing Hair Smoother[products]# #Curls - Creme Brule Whipped Curl Cream[products]# SheaMoisture - Sugarcane Extract & Meadowfoam Seed Silicone Free Leave-In DIY hair butter for sealing. I know my hair care needs some tweaking, if anybody could recommend any products that don’t contain anything that’ll contribute to my problem, please do!

I’m tired of trying
Hello! I just wanted to start off with saying that I have posted a picture a few months ago and asked for advice. My skin was breaking out with cysts and was very irritated. I took the advice from others and started using less harmful products. I started using a Tea Tree oil wash from trades joes and my face got a bit better. I also included the The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% . After using that I noticed more breakouts and stopped. Jump ahead a few months. My skin was getting worse, the scars got terrible and I decided to go to a dermatologist. She wasn’t much help. She told me that if I was using any face washes/produce with acid, such as salicylic acid, that I should stop and start using a gentle cleanser, which I used Aveeno - Calm + Restore Nourishing Oat Facial Cleanser . She also recommended DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel When I started this I was a bit skeptical because I was used to washing and using all sorts of products but still continued. I noticed my breakouts were going down, but the scars were still there. After using the DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel for a few weeks, I noticed no change. My redness wasn’t going down, nor were my scars disappearing. I was so frustrated from trying so many things, and trying to be patient with a lot of products. I then decided to visit the dermatologist once again, because now I really needed help. It was a different doctor and he told me that to clear acne, and scars, it has to be from the inside out. He prescribed me medication, Doxycycline Hyclate. I’ve been taking it for almost 4 weeks, and still had no results. He said to be patient, and I am, but I’m just getting discouraged because my face is very bad. I want to know what truly helped you guys with acne scars, or what helped you guys with actual acne. Thanks to all those who took their time to read 💞

A decade of struggle
I have struggled with my acne for a decade now and have have been up and down the rollercoaster of good and bad skin. I never was able to find something to keep the acne away. I tried every product, every wash, every zit cream, and medication; to no avail. Today I woke up with out a single pimple and that hasn’t happened in years! I know my skin still has a long way to go but I am so happy with where it is today. The bottom pictures are my face this morning with no filtering or facetune and I am thrilled! I think I am finally on the road to figuring out what is right for my face! I just wanted to share in my happiness today and document it, in case it doesn’t last 😂 These are some of the products I use but everyone’s face is different so it may not work for everyone! Also I don’t use all these products everyday so read directions and be careful! my newest skincare purchases!
throughout the past few weeks my acne has flared up so because of that I decided to try a couple new products. first- The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I have only been using this product for about a week and already am in love. For those of you who don’t know, niacinamide is an ingredient that brightens the skin and help balance oil production. I have definitely seen less oil on my face throughout the day and when using this product, it’s not like many other products I have tried for pores that immediately dry out my skin, this as well hydrates the skin. I would recommend this to anyone with oily to combo skin but I have seen it has been out of stock everywhere so as an alternative I would try the inkey list niacinamide serum. second- CLINIQUE - Acne Solutions Clinical Clearing Gel I had originally tried a sample size of this months ago and loved it. It immediately helped bring out the white head in my pores and I had been waiting for the mini size to come in stock to order it. My product finally came in the mail today and staring at it I am not sure the tiny .5 fl oz bottle was worth 18 dollars. Yes, the product does what it’s supposed to do but it does just that and is not very impressive. I glanced at the ingredient list and realized the product does contain two ingredients I am NOT a fan of at all. The FIRST ingredient was denatured alcohol. Denatured alcohol is an ingredient that will strip your skin but can tend to be very stripping to your skin. The fourth ingredient is witch hazel which is very simaler to denatured alcohol and acts like am astringent by drying out your pimples or pores. I rated this product a 3/5 because it does what it is said to do but, also is not worth the price and I don’t like the ingredients other then salycic acid. third- KINSHIP - Naked Papaya Gentle Enzyme Face Cleanser For a long time I had been using a cleanser that was way two stripping for my skin so I decided to try a more hydrating cleanser. First off the bat, I noticed that it had a super strong papaya scent that was not from fragrance but from natural papaya. An ingredient that stood out to me was aloe to sooth the skin. This is also alcohol free and fragrance free. This product was super soft on the skin and felt nice but I have been using it for three weeks and have not seen any results. It cleans your skin and gets rid of dirt but, it hasn’t helped with my acne and pores at all. I will give you an update if I see any difference in results in these products but for now this is how I feel. Have you tried any of these? If so what were your thoughts?

Hi everyone! I would love to get some tips from you guys, as I’m someone who’s just recently started her skincare journey!!! I’m a 19 year old college student who wants cheap but effective products, and I am willing to take any criticism you may have! ☀️AM☀️ Start by cleansing with CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin | I really love the texture of this cleanser and it leaves my skin feeling refreshed and smooth! Go in with The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA in order to help with acne scarring and hyper-pigmentation. Also hoping it evens out texture and large pores🤞🏻 (I do this every day except Wednesday and Sunday) Top it with The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% to help with my hormonal acne and oiliness. Finish with CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30 for some moisture and sun protection!!!! 🌙PM⭐️ After I shower, I used the same cleanser as above. After my skin has dried, I go in with The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution | I purchased this around December because I needed a toner and I personally feel like it hasn’t done too much for my skin in that time, plus it leaves a sticky film on the skin. Every day besides Wednesday I will add The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% on top of the toner. If it’s a Wednesday, I use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution which again was purchased around the same time as the toner and I feel like my skin hasn’t changed very much from it. If it’s a Sunday, I will use The Ordinary - Salicylic Acid 2% Masque which feels super strong and leaves my skin feeling clean. Top everything off with CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion , I absolutely LOVE how lightweight it is and how easily the skin absorbs it! To spot treat acne, I use the MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Drying Lotion | been using this since high school, is a holy grail but would love a cheaper alternative! My skin is pretty oily, except for occasional dryness in the winter. Please let me know what you guys think + if you have any tips and tricks regarding application or order of application! Thank you 🤗

Our skin CHANGES
It’s crazy how much our skin can change. The first picture is from April 2 and the second one is from today, June 9th. I went from semi perfect skin to all out “let’s-see-how -much-worse-your-skin-can-get-in-a-week”. Through my googling, I am assuming that this breakout is hormonal. I have been experiencing some pimples here and there around my mouth recently, and then within the last few days *this* by my chin. I could go on and on speculating what could have caused this for hours. Because of when my acne was severe in high school, I can really stress myself out over trying to figure out what the hell caused my skin to break out. “Was it X? No it couldn’t have been X, it was definitely Y...” This has honestly been the worst my skin has been since being off of Accutane. I know that whatever is on my face today, isn’t permanent and will eventually go away and that calms me down a little. I am looking into setting up an appointment with my derm to look into what can be done about these pesky breakouts and the scarring that is left on my face. As I’ve gotten older (I’m a mere 21 lol) I’ve slowly learned to not care what people have to say about me, but more importantly my skin. That being said, this being my first post on here isn’t as intimidating as it would have been 2-3 years ago. This is my reality and is for many of you on here as well. I’m open for suggested products that could help ease the pain of these breakouts. 😉 Acne is normal, Emma [Some products I’ve been using to help my skin] The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% FREEMAN - Charcoal & Black Sugar Mud Mask

so i've been unemployed since the lockdowns started so i currently have very minimal skincare products. i was using The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and the SAND&SKY - Australian Emu Apple Dreamy Glow Drops along with the CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin and the bbliss - Bright Idea Vitamin C + Tri-Peptide Collagen Protecting & Brightening Moisturizer every day, and The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution once a week. i have since run out of the niacinimide serum and the sand and sky's serum, and i have started using the BHA AHA peeling solution twice a week for ten minutes to help speed up my skins regeneration cycle since my skin started purging. i started using all of these products a week or two before quarantine and my skin looked so good. it hadn't been as clear as it was since like... middle school. i think my skin is finally purging from the peeling solution, ive been using it on and off for about 3 months and continuously using it for about 2-3, and i don't have the money to buy anything to help with my skin. if anyone can offer some cheap products or any advice to help, that would be very much appreciated !! ALSO i blocked out my eyes on the purging pics because i looked so stupid lol
