Cheap black hair care products

avatar
Bri.positive
I’m 19 and trying to become more financially independent but haircare, especially black hair care, for (mostly) 4b hair is SO expensive! Especially when you’ve been picky about your hair for so long! Does anyone know of any sulfate and silicone free products that are on the cheaper side of things? I tagged all my currently used products. P.s. sorry about the awkward crop, this was the most recent picture of my natural hair

lazyglowupMaui moisture is similar and cheaper! I do have to say, having just switched from Maui to Shea Moisture, I think Shea works better for me (probably bc of the protein in it), but I would would give their curly/coconut line a try :)

Shea Moisture Curl & Shine
SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Shampoo SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk I decided to give this brand a try, because the shampoo I was using was drying out my hair and making it very frizzy. I have been using these products for about 2 weeks now. With my old shampoo, I could go 3-4 days in between washes. With these products, I can go 2 days. 👉🏻I like the shampoo a lot! I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I wish it cleansed a bit more then it does, sometimes my hair can still feel a little greasy near the roots. 👉🏻I love the conditioner! I only put it on the tips of my hair because of how moisturizing the shampoo is. It makes my hair tangle free when I get out of the shower. 👉🏻The style milk is great, I just think my hair isn’t dry or curly enough for this product. When I use it, I use a very small amount on damp hair or it makes my hair greasy instantly. It does a great job of keeping the frizz away, and keeping my hair soft.

Product Junkie? More like Family Friendly 🥰
There are a lot of products seen here (and some not featured here)that are used on a daily basis BUT I use them all and being in a house with 4 other people (my husband, my kids and myself), I’m not the only one who uses them. Here is a list of some products used and their star rating. The only ones that will be explained are the kid friendly options and not included is the ordinary which has a separate post already on my page: CeraVe - Hydrating Cream-To-Foam Cleanser For me, this product is a 5 out 5 but My eldest son says that it is slightly stripping to his skin even though it works for him. My husband also likes it! CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanser bliss - Clear Genius Clarifying Toner + Serum My husband stopped using it complaining about its texture and not seeing any results. My eldest son lives for this saying it feels soothing on the skin and I have to agree!! CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream Everyone in the family uses it except the youngest child who we use Eucerin cream for. Very good moisturizer and is a great family friendly product. bliss - Pore Patrol Clay-to-Foam Purifying Cleanser My eldest son uses this one more than me! Works miracles on pores and has a deeper cleanse than most pore centered cleaners. For me this is used maybe once or twice a week (same as the SA CLEANSER). Coppertone - Pure & Simple SPF 50 Sunscreen Lotion I’ve spoken on this before - initial white cast is awful but after a few minutes, it airs out and dies down! My both my sons hate the stuff but it has done wonders for their hyperpigmentation issues. I wish mines were so easily dealt with. Don’t get me wrong - it helps BUT not too much of a life changing effect is going on over here. SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Rinse-Out Conditioner Absolutely, positively brilliant product. Everyone in my house uses this one. Helps hair and has that drastic life changing effect on hair (our house has 3C to 4C hair). SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner This is mostly only used on my daughters hair and Her hair reacts positively to it. Detangling is earlier, her hair is shinier and healthier. It’s a great product. Not as thick as it used to be but still great! Carol's Daughter - Goddess Strength Divine Strength Leave In Cream With Castor Oil Again, very family friendly product! Makes hair feel great without weighing it down. With hair type range being so broad in our household, it’s nice to have a product everyone in the house can use! Products not listed but deserve mention: Hot Six Oil : This product can be used for hair skin and nails. I use it to seal ends, after baths and even treat eczema!

Shea moisture shampoo & conditioner review
sheamoisture curl & shine coconut and hibiscus shampoo and conditioner review! SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Shampoo Shampoo: This shampoo claims to moisturize and define your curls/waves and it also claims to detangle hair for healthy looking curls/waves! My thoughts: It turns out this does do what it claims to do it moisturizes and makes my curls look a lot healthier overall I absolutely love this shampoo! Conditioner: The claims on this conditioner are the same as the shampoo! Except you only apply to the ends of your hair! My thoughts on the conditioner: I absolutely love this conditioner my ends are very split (I need a haircut) and dry and get very tangled and this conditioner has helped so much with my split ends! I absolutely love this! Overall: sheamoisture is one of my absolute favourite haircare brands what I love about there brand is that they are cruelty free! These two products have changed my hair! ! And they’ve lasted so long!

Help!?! Fine/Wavy/Curly girl
I was born with like zero hair, it grew in hell’s patchy and bright orange ( ginger reject right here!) But it was super thin for most of my life. My pony tails were like the diameter of a dime. But I started cutting my hair really short in middle school and that helped a lot, though the strands are still thin, I have a lot of fine hair. But I always straightened my hair once I was older cause waves and stuff weren’t cool, nor was red hair, so I was a big fan of the dye and bleach as well. So now I seem to be left when a head of hair that A) is drier than the high heavens but doesn’t want to take in moisture properly without weighing it down, or making it never dry without heat. B) the top section appears to be more 2a, the mid more 2b-2c and underneath at the nape I can get tight ringleader curls? Where’s there uniformity? C) I have tried to do the curly girl method and that’s caused a lot of issues with my scalp and skin, and a lot of the heavy butters and oils are too much for my hair and just weigh it down. This leaves me wondering how to proceed. This I have used and like. How I fully transitioned and grew my 4b/c hair
My hair journey is something that means a lot to me. As a child I was always known to have hair so long it reached the middle of my back. Whether my hair was curly, straight, braided or in twists it generated a lot of talk. That’s why when I went natural and lost basically all the length that I somewhat had it was such a shocker. I was natural as a child before I began to get a relaxer at around 3rd grade. It was needed since my mom had just gotten over breast cancer for a second time and my long thick curls were too much for her to take care of. My hair still retained its length, even as I went into middle school but once I hit 9th grade I’d realized something. My length was gone. Now I will say SOOOO many hair mistakes were made when I began doing my own hair in high school. I put too much heat to it, I manipulated it too much, and I didn’t care about my strands enough. I honestly don’t know at what point I realized I wanted to go natural but at the end of my sophomore year I did. My mother who is a very traditional black woman when it comes to hair made it crystal clear there was no way in hell I was getting the big chop I wanted. Because of this I was forced to transition over. I vividly remember the first product I used as a natural being SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie this served a good purpose since my number one goal at the time was curl definition. I don’t mind that as much anymore because I have come to terms with the fact that my hair type is NOT loose curls. Since quarantine that goal has changed. My goal I’m March went from “how do I get my hair to curl” to “okay how do I retain length and keep my hair healthy” and I knew my answer. Braids. I’ll be the one to say I absolutely LOVE braids but I HATE getting them professionally done for so many reasons. The main one being when my scalp gets too dirty the braids gotta go. That is a problem when braids cost 100 and I’m over them in a month 🗿. This pushed me to doing my own braids minus the braiding hair. Every two-three weeks I take my braids out, condition my dry dirty hair, wash the conditioner out, wash my hair, deep condition, and prep my hair for braids. Sometimes I blow dry my hair before I braid it (because I want the length😗) and sometimes I just braid my coily hair as is. This has helped keep my hair healthy and grow it all quarantine. These are the products I’ve used: AFRiCAN PRIDE - Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Leave-in Conditioner AFRiCAN PRIDE - Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Growth Oil DOO GRO - Mega Thick Hair Oil ECOCO - Eco Style Argan Oil Gel ECOCO - Eco Style Professional Styling Gel Black Castor & Flaxseed Oil cantu - Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioning Repair aussie - Miracle Moist 3 Minute Miracle with Avocado for Dry Hair Repair Maui MOISTURE - Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Hair Mask Aunt Jackie's - Don't Shrink Elongating Curling Gel

Curly Girl Method! I've tried these so you don't need to try again!
I've tried several hair products for curly hair, and these are my favorite! Shampoos SheaMoisture - Argan Oil and Almond Milk Shampoo It smells like milk. I love that and the way this made my hair feel. Very smooth and non-greasy after washing. Conditioners SheaMoisture - Superfruit Complex 10 in 1 Renewal System Conditioner Some people don't like its scent, but I personally can accept it. The moisturizing effect is perfect. TRESemmé - Botanique Nourish + Replenish With Coconut Milk & Aloe Vera Conditioner It's affordable and it's so large that you can use it for a long time. Apply it and wait 5-8 minutes, then your hair will be like seaweed. Kinky-Curly - Knot Today, Natural Leave In / Detangler It smells like coconut. I use it as a moisturizer. I have now purchased 3 bottles of this. My hair cannot get enough. It is pricey, but so worth it. It is the best leave in conditioner I have ever tried. The best part about it is it's sans silicones sulfates or waxes. If you're looking for a great detangler that doesn't leave your hair greasy, this is the one for you. Leave-in conditioners SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner It is a little greasy. I brush my hair with this leave in in during the shower and it keeps my hair silky and curls not frizzy Hair masks SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Masque I use it once every two weeks, staying for 15-20 minutes before washing off. After using it, it helps hydrate my hair. It’s very light and doesn’t dry with any residue! It leaves my curls feeling light weight! Curl defining gels DevaCurl - Light Defining Gel Soft Hold No-Crunch Styler I have medium length curly hair and I use about a quarter size for the initial scrunch from ends to root. I touch up around the entire head with another quarter size. Let dry and scrunch to release the cast from the gel. My hair and curls are so happy with this product. It is the holy grail for sure. SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie I use it to apply a little bit to the hair before setting. It makes your hair look a little oily.

my favorite leave in conditioner
my favorite leave in conditioner
To this day, my favorite leave in conditioner is SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Rinse-Out Conditionere. I’ve been experimenting with different brands over the past few weeks and was striking out, so it was time to just go back to what I know. 🌻 For styling, my cocktail right now that works best for my hair is leave-in conditioner, black castor oil or olive oil and gel. Right now my favorite is the Ouidad - Advanced Climate Control Heat & Humidity Gel in the red bottle 👌🏽

7 Tips for Caring for Your Curly Hair
7 Tips for Caring for Your Curly Hair
Curly hair is unique and common, but it gets far less love from the beauty community when it comes to knowing how to care for this type of hair. Curly hair bends and coils and can easily knot on itself. For all of these reasons, curly hair can be fragile and delicate. It also has a tendency to be dry because your scalp’s natural oils can have a hard time getting all the way to the ends of your hair.

👋Say bye to greasy hair after this DIY mask...
👋Say bye to greasy hair after this DIY mask...
Yesterday I gave my curly hair a thorough care and after that, my hair is soft😍 light 😍 shiny😍voluminous😍 with defined curls😍. I called this treatment "the Clarification". It is important and should be done every 4-6 weeks because it allows you to remove all product residues and impurities from your hair and leave it clean and shiny. Here are the steps: 🌿Cleanse 1 tsp of Baking Soda mixed with your regular shampoo (I used Aveeno Scalp Soothing Almond Oil Blend Shampoo ) Then apply it to your scalp, massage it gently in a circular motion, leave it there for 2 min and then rinse with clean water. 🌿Moisturize Applying a moisturizing mask is a must after the Clarification. Here is my DIY moisturizing and protein mask ⭐1 tsp of organic spirulina ⭐2 tsp of fresh lemon juice (or you can also use lime juice or even water) ⭐1/2 tsp of organic honey ⭐35 drops Provitamin B5 (2%) ⭐16 drops Rice Protein (1%) ⭐a little hot water  Wear a shower cap, wait 30 minutes and rinse with cold water. After wringing the hair, I simply applied Aloe Vera and then dried it with a diffuser... I blew dry my hair because I wanted it to dry at maximum speed!! I thought I was going to get a lot of frizz and medium curl definition.  Well I am pleasantly surprised, especially since I did not put any leave in but only a little Aloe Vera. After the Clarification, my hair won't get oily so quickly, and it is a blessing for people with bangs. Btw, I have a side bang which are soft around the edges and often wider in the cheeks, suiable for women with long square face like me. Part your hair to the side, then use a round brush to curl your bangs and blast them with hot air with your hair dryer. Spritz with a flexible hold hairspray, then let your bangs naturally fall to the side of your face. Now I love my hair soooooo much. 😍 Have you ever tried any useful hair treatment? Comment down below and let's share with each other!

I do this by myself at home.As I have fine and fragile hair, colorings, highlights and babylights are extremely damaging to my hair which is naturally dark brown, so I must at all times be very careful with the products that I use for this I often try new products, shampoo masks condotionner oils creams 😱 ... in short with my hair I always need a magic wand 😅MOROCCANOIL - Care Meets Color Rose Gold MARC ANTHONY TRUE PROFESSIONAL - Damage Repair Mask

Long vs Short Hair for round faces 💛
Long vs Short Hair for round faces 💛
✨ For years I toggled with the idea of cutting my hair and in 2019 I finally decided to do my second “big chop” - this time I decided to chop off much more hair than I did the first time. 💇🏽‍♀️ Since growing my hair back out, I’ve been wondering if I should grow it long or keep it around shoulder length. Because of the shape of my face, I’m finding that the shorter hair with curly bangs tends to shape my face better. However, I do love the versatility of having longer hair. 👩🏽‍🦱 After much thought, I decided to grow my hair out about 1 more inch. This will allow me to maintain volume (curly fro), my hair will appear thicker and it will match the roundness of my face better. With longer hair, the strands become heavier and the curls appear looser and thinner. I won’t maintain much volume and will have to work harder to get the hair look i Desire. How many curly girls out there deciding between short vs long hair?
