My first week with bar shampoo 🧼
I’ve been wanting to try bar shampoo for a while now as a way to cut down on all the packaging I use. Lush has so many “naked” beauty products which are completely packaging free and while I love the concept, I need to be convinced that they actually work!! I picked up LUSH - Jumping Juniper a while ago for its scalp cleansing properties and amazing smell and have finally gotten a chance to test it out. From Lush: fruity juniper berry oil clarifies oily, congested scalps, while lemon and lime make your hair clean and shiny and give it an extra fresh scent. The incredible herbal duo of soothing lavender and cleansing rosemary calm and stimulate the scalp. Ok, here’s how it went... 🧼 SCENT: I love the smell of this bar. It is a fresh herbal citrusy scent that is so refreshing 🧼 USE: the shampoo bar was actually so easy to use. You rub it between your hands and it quickly creates a good lather that can be rubbed into your hair like normal shampoo. This was my biggest concern about using a shampoo bar, but definitely shouldn’t deter you because it is easy peasy. I also bought a little metal tin at lush to store the bar in so it’s not getting the shower sticky between uses and I’m glad I did. 🧼 RESULTS: my hair came out squeaky clean and I feel like this is a product that leaves my scalp feeling clean as well. My biggest concern is that my hair is TOO clean from natural oils being stripped away. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on that as I continue using the bar and will be able to make a better judgement on it in a few weeks 🧼 OVERALL: I’m sold on shampoo bars. Even if I end up looking for a different formulation for my hair, I don’t need to go back to shampoo bottles. A bar is so easy to use, last forever, and is better for the environment. My first impression of jumping juniper is great, and I am excited to see if it continues to work for my hair and scalp! Four stars because I need to be convinced it won’t strip my oils too much before I’m 100%. LUSH - Jumping Juniper Have you tried a shampoo bar? Or another ‘naked’ product?!
