Exfoliation 101 - Let's burst some myths!
Let's get to know about exfoliants more! No matter if you're a skincare junkie, expert or just a beginner, skin exfoliation can be very tricky and confusing and most of the mainstream skin advices can be minimally backed by science and geared towards selling the product or giving you false information. That's how skincare myths are formed. I'm talking about some pretty known myths about Exfoliation : ✨Like, Physical exfoliants/scrubs are bad for your skin and they cause micro-tears that lead to infection or they're worse than Chemical exfoliants: Physical exfoliants that contain irregular granular sizes and shapes are definitely going to irritate your skin. But if you're a well-experienced skincare person or someone who knows how to handle gentle, small granular exfoliants well like professionals, in such hands it can be a very effective. Take Micro-dermabrasion or Dermaplaning for instance. If you haven't done it before it's likely to cause you some irritation, I wouldn't say damage as it's a truly strong and deep term to use. Our skin can naturally heal itself to a large degree, that self-healing capability can be overstressed with exogenous (outside/physical) factors and sometimes Indogenous (inner) factors such as your ethnicity, genetics and some skin conditions like dermititis, rosacea or psoriasis. So, my point here is, the myth that only physical exfoliators cause any damage to our skin is incorrect. On top of that, physical exfoliants cause micro-tears is a far stretched myth that doesn't have enough scientific evidence to support. The thing about it is anything harsh on our skin is going to cause inflammation and redness but chemical exfoliants can cause the same if done too much. For our skin to break or tear and get a cut there needs to be a lot of pressure and sharpness to the object. The scrubs don't necessarily tear/cut our skin unless you're rubbing it too harsh or with a lot of pressure and over-doing it. Chemical exfoliators can overstress and irritate our skin at the same degree as well, if overdone. Damage is a strong word for any skincare regimen that is backed by science. It's a fairly vast topic to discuss here but here's the crux of the topic that I'm trying to highlight. Not over-exfoliating is the only key to keep our skin healthy and non-irritated. Be it physical or chemical exfoliants. We need some of the dead skin cells on our Stratum Corneum. Meaning, we should let our Stratum Corneum have a layer of some dead skin cells along with it's biome. The diverse yet integrated functions of the SC collectively serve to detect, protect, respond, and/or adapt against several exogenous factors. Now, why I like or majority of people like chemical exfoliants is because they seem to be hustle free, you apply a thin layer and leave it overnight or for few minutes and it thins down our Stratum Corneum that is the deal skin cells on our skin as well as penetrates deeper in skin and decongests it. But for many people chemical exfoliants can be quite intimidating and if they like to do manual Exfoliation it's totally fine as long as they're not putting a lot of pressure and overdoing it. ✔️👍 I like both physical and chemical exfoliation. I use these chemical facial peeling solutions or masks as well as gentle scrubs to take care of my dead skin. These are some of the exfoliators I use. These are all types of exfoliators, Physical - Scrubs, Peeling gels Chemical - Facial AHA, BHA masks, solutions, in shower facials These are the ones I don't find so attractive for the price: Scrubs: 1. @avantskincare Gentle Rose beautifying facial exfoliant 114$avant - Gentle Rose Beautifying Face Exfoliant

Current Skin Care Routine Under A Dermatologist
Current favorites: NATURIUM - Mixed Greens Nutrient-Rich Cleanser Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 Rx: Azelaic Acid 15% and Tretinoin Cream 0.025% New Additions: e.l.f. - Holy Hydration! Face Cream - Fragrance Freee.l.f. - Hydrating Water Essenceand clindamycin topical gel 1% Just got back from my dermatologist appointment, we’re adding clindamycin 1% topical gel to help combat my mild “maskne” breakouts that have recently become an issue. Here’s my new routine: AM: 1. Cleanse with Naturium Mixed Greens Nutrient-Rich Cleanser - I love this stuff! Really makes my skin feel fresh and gives a nice glow. I recently tried to switch to another cleanser and didn’t realize how much this cleanser was doing for my skin! I had an increase in breakouts and was missing that nice glow that this provides. Switched back and my skin started improving after the first use. 100% recommend. 2. Clindamycin 1% topical gel - adding this temporarily just to help get through the mild purge from my tretinoin / possible “maskne” from wearing a mask at work 12+hrs a day. On first application, it feels nice on the skin, like a watery gel that absorbs almost instantly and leaves a fresh face finish. 3. Azelaic Acid 15% topical gel - consistency of this is a light gel-cream that dries down matte. This one does WONDERS for any redness, skin sensitivity and irritation I have going on. Instantly takes away redness, and helps reduce inflammation of any active breakouts. I like how it dries down matte and doesn’t pill up with other products layered on top. Wears well under makeup. 4. Neutrogena Hydroboost Gel-cream in fragrance free. This has a beautiful gel-cream texture and works perfectly with my SPF (Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen), which I apply last to prep for makeup. It’s hard to find moisturizers that don’t feel too heavy or break me out - this one doesn’t! It’s a holy grail for me :) 5. Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40 - this has a clear, primer-like finish that works beautiful under makeup and protects my skin from the harmful rays of the sun. Doesn’t irritate or break me out. PM 1. Naturium Mixed Greens cleanser again. 2. E.l.f. hydrating Water Essence. This has a beautiful “fat water” texture and includes ingredients such as coconut water, Niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, coffee extract for an extra little boost of hydration and skin loving benefits. 2. E.l.f. Holy Hydration face cream in Fragrance Free - this has a thick creamy texture includes hyaluronic acid, Niacinamide, peptides, squalane and vitamin B5 for tons of skin benefits. 3. Tretinoin cream 0.025% - this is the “gold standard of skincare” and has sooo many benefits for the skin. I’m using this for anti-aging benefits, treatment of acne, acne scarring and hyperpigmentation.
Must-Have Products from Sephora and Ulta 🌟
We all have some beauty products that become hard to go without once we’ve tried them! Some of my beauty staples include skincare products to prep my skin and a high-hold hairspray so my hairstyle lasts all day. Here are my favorite products from Sephora and Ulta! Milk MAKEUP - Hydro Grip Primer This is my go-to primer when I want my makeup to last all day long! It hydrates my skin without turning my face into an oil slick, and it has a slightly tacky feel that grips onto my foundation, just like it says. FENTY BEAUTY - Pro Filt'r Hydrating Longwear Foundation I prefer the hydrating formula of the Fenty Foundation over the original formula, which I thought was too matte for me, even with my oily/combo skin. This foundation blends out really nicely to a natural-looking satin finish, and I can easily layer setting powder over it without making my base look cakey or patchy. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution This chemical exfoliant is a cult classic for a reason: It’s effective, looks cool, and costs less than $8! I love using it on Sunday nights as a weekly reset for my face. If you follow the instructions (leave on for 10 minutes and don’t use it more than twice a week), you’ll have baby soft skin without damaging your moisture barrier in no time. REDKEN - Triple Pure 32 Neutral Fragrance Hairspray It’s almost impossible for my hair to hold a curl without some kind of product. I love this hairspray because it sets my hair but doesn’t leave it feeling solid or crunchy. The mist is really fine so it disperses through my hair evenly without leaving some parts clumped with product and some parts untouched, which is one of my biggest pet peeves with hairspray. I highly recommend this to anyone who has trouble making their styled hair last more than an hour! TIGI - A Wave We Go Adjustable Deep Waver I love this hair waver because it’s incredibly easy to use. With this, I can wave my lob in literally 10 minutes! You can adjust the depth of the wave too, so you can have anything between a subtle beach wave or some really wild waves. What are your favorite products from Sephora and Ulta?
Basic for 122$
I was using @avantskincare products from few months. I have thoughts on both of these. Spoiler alert - I'm not impressed with this brand. It's highly expensive. The amount we get is normal or sometimes lesser. The results and experience of one of these are not impressive. I'll talk about the product (Primer) I sort of liked. Or you can say I liked it comparing to the Scrub. Their Discovery edit - Pro Perfecting Collagen Touche Éclat Primer avant - Pro Perfecting Collagen Touche Éclat Primer is good. 💧My experience: ✨Definitely works on pores and fine lines. Gives you a hydrated, smooth canvas to work with. ✨The only downside of this is the size. You get 30ml/1 fl.oz for 122$. ✨The tube is quite small and I definitely think there are better products on the market for 1/3 of the price. Their Gentle Rose Beautifying Face Exfoliant avant - Gentle Rose Beautifying Face Exfoliant has key ingredients - Rose and Vitamin B5. 💧 My experience: ✨The Scrub is quite basic. Looks and smells like many scrubs out there. It has strong fragrance if you're allergic to fragrances. ✨I used this whenever I had a little flakey skin and it definitely helps getting rid of it. The grain size is small but the scrub can be a bit too harsh if you apply pressure while rubbing.✨Overall like all other scrubs it makes your skin feel smoother. ✨I did not find this scrub giving any visible results, especially with the humectant claims. This scrub is used for less than 5 mins and I don't think Vitamin B5 is any useful to work it's humectant properties in that amount of time. ✨One thing to definitely mention is the price - 114$ for that small tube and for a scrub that seems quite Basic is a little too expensive in my opinion.
✨New Beauty Buys-Ole Henriksen PHAT: Worth it?
I recently got this new face mask that works like a facial, with potent PHAs and Nordic birch sap to exfoliate by @olehenriksen ✨OLE HENRIKSEN - PHAT Glow Facial Mask It's really an interesting mask that works similar to @theordinary's AHA BHA peeling solution, but has Polyhydroxy Acid in it. It's an exfoliating mask that works instantly without causing any irritation or burning at all. I really liked this mask because you can keep it on for 15-20 mins and watch the pink color turn into white then wash it off. This mask doesn't sting or burn but does that exfoliation and gives a glow. It works amazing for my any skin type, I have oily/combination and Acne prone skin and it works great for me. The texture is of this mask very unique. It's goopy and stringy. Unlike clay masks, it's a thick creamy texture that glides on face like gum and washes off without any mess. I am enjoying using this because it gives me results instantly. It is great for dull skin, uneven skin tone and texture, Dark Spots, Fine lines and Wrinkles, Pores, and Dryness. ✨It has : Highlighted Ingredients: - Polyhydroxy Acids (PHAs): A gentler alternative to AHAs that help even skin tone and texture through chemical exfoliation. - Nordic Birch Sap: Helps hydrate and nourish skin. - Pink Bentonite Clay: Helps clarify and renew. My experience: -Instantly brightens skin and makes it feel smooth and soft -Improves dark spots / hyperpigmentation -Doesn't irritate skin, doesn't sting or burn -Very gentle on Sensitive skin and works similar to AHA BHA masks. The only downside of this product is the price, It's 50$ for 1.7 fl.oz / 50 mL of product which in my opinion is quite expensive. The amount we get is very minimum and it's not going to last you more than 10 uses. You can get better exfoliating masks or solutions at quarter of the price and they work the exact same. Although I truly liked this product I won't be repurchasing it frequently.
❤️ morning mask ❤️
If I ever wake up before my alarm in the mornings, I like to treat myself. Since I’m up earlier than I expected, it’s the perfect time to give a little time back to my skin. This mask is perfect for all skin types. It pumps out pink and you rub it in till it turns white. Leave it on for 15 minutes, and you have glowing, hydrated and soft skin. This mask has PHAs, and Nordic birch sap. It’s great for a deep clean that leaves a lasting glow. It’s promises to reduce wrinkles, hydrate skin, help with eczema, and be deep cleansing. I love to use it before my morning skincare 2-3 times a week.
Some interesting Aveeno finds for Sensitive skin
I don't always go for high end cleansers and this is the reason I always look for some good affordable options. I wanted to try out @aveeno Positively Radiant line. I have been using their Positively radiant brightening cleanser since months, it never irritated my skin or broke me out. And the recent find from that line is 60 second in shower facial! I know a lot of people love @aveeno products but let's dive into how these two perform on skin and are they actually good? @aveeno Positively radiant cleanserAveeno - Positively Radiant Brightening Facial Cleanser is one of the first drugstore cleansers I instantly picked because it had decent description of what it does. And luckily it's one of the cleansers I didn't seem to find irritating, stripping or breaking my skin out. It's quite gentle gel cleanser that lathers nicely and I enjoy using it in the morning. The ingredients list of this isn't so impressive. It has Soy protein extract but that's pretty low on the list. Apart fron that it has fragrance and mica again on mid level in the list. This cleanser doesn't have any actives that work in exfoliating or brightening skin but the tiny shimmer particles (mica) gives it that radiant look and leaves that finish on skin, leading it to making your skin glow. However it has Titanium dioxide, an ingredient generally added to sunscreens to give protection from UVB and it's good for preventing hyperpigmentation caused in sun exposure. But, It's the last on ingredients list. I didn't seem to like the ingredients list as much but it definitely doesn't do a bad job in good cleansing. This is one example why ingredients list isn't the only thing that counts when it comes to skincare especially cleansers. It has mild/average fragrance that can be a problem for some skin types. But I don't mind a little bit of fragrance in my wash off treatments. The texture is lightweight gel which lathers when comes in contact with water. The second product - 60 Second in shower facial Aveeno - Positively Radiant 60 Second In-Shower Facial Cleanser is rather an interesting product. I am recently using it in my shower and loving the performance. This doesn't irritate skin, doesn't tingle or burn. It gently exfoliates skin with soft micro grains added in the formula and it has Glycolic acid which chemically exfoliates skin. It is made with moisture-rich soy, lemon-peel extract, kaolin clay and glycolic acid, this facial works with the steam of your shower to transform your skin from dull to radiant. This works in just a minute that's the best part about it. This has slightly granular texture which helps in gentle Exfoliating skin before washing it off. These are great affordable products if you want to try something new.
✨My Favorite Shower Combo
Cetaphil - Extra Gentle Daily Scrub Aveeno - Positively Radiant 60 Second In-Shower Facial Cleanser This is my favorite shower facial combo! I start off by using the Cetaphil scrub to wash off my nighttime skincare products and to exfoliate my face for a fresh start! Then I follow up with the Aveeno facial cleanser and I usually leave this on for about 5-10 minutes while I shampoo and condition my hair! Since I've started this routine I've noticed that my skin appears to be more youthful and looks replenished! This combo also makes my skin feel super soft and hydrated!
Is Peel gel worth the hype?Which one is better?
Peeling gel is relatively new hype in the skincare community and a lot of brands these days are bringing such peeling gels in the market! There are many tyles of such peel gels available mostly inspired from K-beauty brands and I have thought about these two! ✨Firstly, what is peeling gel/enzyme srub?? ➡️Peeling gels help dissolve dead skin cells. When it is applied, it will ball up in tiny pieces, extracting dead skin cells as you gently rub the product on your face. The product reacts to the oil on the surface of your skin and creates clumps that help pick up dead skin cells. Not a lot of people compare these two but when I first heard about @wishful Glow enzyme scrubHUDA BEAUTY - Yo Glow Facial Enzyme Scrub I instantly thought about @saturdayskin Skin refining peel gel. SATURDAY SKIN - Rub-A-Dub Refining Peel Gel ✨ They're very similar in function and application. ✨Both contain Papaya and Pineapple (Bromelain/ Ananas) extract ✨Glow enzyme scrub has AHA and BHA in it Saturday skin peel gel doesn't have it. ✨Pineapple extract works as natural gentle exfoliant anyway so there is mild chemical exfoliation that takes place in both of them. ✨Both have added perfume or essential oils to mask the chemical smell ✨Glow enzyme scrub is more liquidy than Saturday skin peel gel. It is thick gel scrub that lasts longer than Glow enzyme scrub. ✨Glow enzyme scrub has strong (perfume like) fragrance that I found a bit overwhelming. Saturday skin peel gel doesn't have overwhelming fragrance. ✨Both work similar way in peeling and forming white cellulite particles that look like dead skin coming off of your skin surface but actually that's just the product reacting with facial oils and binding together that way. ✨The results with using both of these are similar, smooth soft skin and over the time they both reduce the appearance of fine lines, texture and hyperpigmentation. 🌿My experience and conclusion: ✨These both help in giving you a smooth, soft skin instantly after each application. Does it work like chemical exfoliants? No. But it definitely helps in getting rid of some dead skin. ✨So which one do I think is better? @saturdayskin peel gel is much better in my opinion!! ❤️ Saturdayskin costs 28$ for 75 ml and Glow enzyme costs 39$ for 100$. But @saturdayskin peel gel lastsonger as you don't need a lot of it and because of it's thick texture you end up squeezing lesser than Glow enzyme. ☝️ It's a great product to have in your skincare collection although it's not necessary 👍 Have you tried this product??💖✨
GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Pink Juice Oil-Free Moisturizer is such an amazing lightweight summer-time moisturizer! I love that it smells like watermelon. It can also be used as a serum before a thicker moisturizer if your skin needs some extra TLC!😍 PETER THOMAS ROTH - Rose Stem Cell Bio-Repair Gel Mask is a really nice face mask that smells fantastic! I didn’t really notice any major effects after using it, but it did appear to slightly firm and tighten my skin. SATURDAY SKIN - Rub-A-Dub Refining Peel Gel is one of my favorite chemical exfoliants! It uses papaya enzyme to slough away dead skin cells with exfoliating beads for a gentle physical exfoliation as well. Saturday Skin’s packaging is also so cute! innisfree - Dewy Glow Emulsion with Jeju Cherry Blossom smells like cherry blossoms!! This Korean beauty brand always has the cutest packaging! I felt like this moisturizer was too lightweight for me, but goes nicely under a thicker moisturizer when I need extra hydration!
A gentle yet effective line
Today I have these two in my current faves! I liked this Truffle Therapy range from @skinandco ✨ ............... . . . . @skinandco Truffle Therapy Toner SKIN&CO - Truffle Therapy Face Toner I liked this toner, it isn't harsh on skin at any use. It's gentle but I think cleanses and purifies skin well. What it does: Purifying 🍃 Protecting 🍃 Brightening 🍃 It is Gentle, powerful, soothing, and healing. It deeply cleanses and purifies pores with the antiseptic power of Witch Hazel and Sage, effectively removing impurities, clogged pores and dead skin cells to treat, heal, and prevent blemishes. Although the properties and results seem a little harsh, the toner is very gentle and mild on skin. The natural extracts and antioxidant properties of Black Winter Truffle, Rosemary, Calendula, and Cucumber soothes and protects from environmental and free radical damage. @skinandco Truffle Therapy Face Gommage SKIN&CO - Truffle Therapy Gommage "It is an exfoliator with finely milled Apricot Seed Powder evenly and delicately exfoliates skin, buffing away dull and flaky skin, promoting rejuvenating cell production, leaving skin luminous and refreshed, and promoting a more radiant complexion." I have found this way too soft and creamy for a scrub. It's more like messaging cream than an exfoliator. But I think it's good for sensitive and easily irritated skin.
Surprised by this exfoliator! 🧼
I received this face gommage in my boxycharm a few months ago, I judged the appearance of this cleanser and was super bummed I didn’t get something else. I didn’t think it would be great and I was so wrong! This exfoliator has small little micro beads that look like they would hurt using it but it’s not so bad. I only use this once a week and it definitely leaves my skin super soft and smooth. This didn’t leave my face red or irritated. Obviously whenever you use a physical exfoliator there will be a slight redness but that is normal. The cleanser itself feels really conditioning/milky texture to it. I’ve used lots of cleansers that had little exfoliating beads that hurt when I used it on my face and it made me extra sensitive. I was so glad when I found out ulta sells this cause when I run out I will definitely buy another one. It has helped my dry skin/flakes. Just an FYI if you are really sensitive I don’t think this will be great on you. SKIN&CO - Truffle Therapy Gommage
My skincare products and routine : any thoughts?
Hi loves, so even though I already have a pretty good routine for my skin, I feel like I still have so much to learn and therefore maybe other adjustments to do with my habits to really have a good and effective routine for my skin! Here’s what I usually do : (this is for someone who has combination skin; the t-zone gets oily, other parts tend to be dry and sometimes even sensitive; i never had major acne too so i wouldn’t label myself as “acne-prone skin” type of gal🤷🏻♂️) 1) CLEANSE : I wash my face with the acne wash by Benzagel Benzagel - Acne Wash ** If I run out of product : I use another cleanser from Alya alya skin. - Foaming Micellar Cleanser *** After one of the products listed here, I use the cleansing butter from Wishful to remove excess oils/makeup before anything else! HUDA BEAUTY - Clean Genie Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm 2) EXFOLIATE/SCRUB : I exfoliate my skin (1-2 times a week) with Wishful products HUDA BEAUTY - Yo Glow Facial Enzyme Scrub 3) Tone : I’m still pretty new to the “skincare” world and I never toned my skin up until today so feel free to suggest/recommend me products you tried and/or heard of that were good, that’d be great 👼🏻💓 4) Essence : I use to put some of the serums of L’Occitane en Provence to replace the essence I still don’t have! Then again, feel free to suggest me products you think would work!! Thanks 💓 5) Serum : I ran out of the product itself but usually I was using (like mentioned before) L’Occitane en Provence’s serum and it really felt nice on my skin! L'OCCITANE - Peony Perfecting Essence 5.1) Serum #2 : I can also switch with L'OCCITANE - Immortelle Overnight Reset Oil-in-Serum 6) Moisturize : I’m using Wishful’s product called HUDA BEAUTY - Honey Balm Jelly Moisturizer and it really feels nice on my skin! 7) Sunscreen : Right after moisturizing my skin, it’s recommended to directly apply sunscreen on top of the moisturizer of Wishful (or HUDA BEAUTY) LA ROCHE-POSAY - Anthelios XL Lotion SPF 60 8) Oil : Even though I had the sample version of the actual thing, I’m currently working with L’Occitane en Provence’s youth oil, which leaves my skin shiny and cute 🥰 L'OCCITANE - Immortelle Divine Youth Oil 9) Eye cream (or gel): Apparently it’d be nice for me to use some eye cream (based on the analysis that Cherie provides me) but I’m not currently using and not so sure of which products I should/shouldn’t be using! Then again, if you know any good stuff that’d work perfectly with my type of skin, let me know in the comments!! That’s all for me, I know I don’t have the perfect skincare routine but I’m ready to consider any constructive feedback on the thing(s) I could try/do/change to improve it! Thanks, have a good one 💓
Having a good scrub is essential to any skincare routine. But you don’t have to break the bank to get a scrub with great ingredients. The HUDA BEAUTY - Yo Glow Facial Enzyme Scrub is a great scrub for the face and has good ingredients. But the CLARISMA - Malibu Blush Exfoliating Scrub is actually a better ingredient list AND costs not even 1/4 of the price!! CRAZY!😱 The Clarisma scrub has similar enzyme exfoliating properties as the Huda Beauty one, but Clarisma is also jam packed with hydrating oils that will fight aging and enhance collagen production while smoothing fine lines.😍😋 For the price and ingredients, Clarisma can’t be beat!!💸🍍
EXFOLIATE 101: Chemical vs. Physical
🌊 everyone loves to exfoliate! the process of removing dead and old skin cells to reveal new skin is as old as time. exfoliation reduces scarring, wrinkles, and dull skin, for a smooth, bright complexion 🌊 what’s the difference? Chemical Exfoliation uses alpha hydroxy acids to loosen and dissolve the skin glue between skin cells, allowing them to be swept away. Imagine adding olive oil to pasta to keep it from sticking together, and then taking away the dry noodles. Kate Somerville - ExfoliKate Intensive Exfoliating Treatment very intensive chemical exfoliation, not for those with sensitive skin. Also has a physical component HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial Good for those with sensitive/dry skin! Very mild, little stinging! I use this a lot and I am oily-acne probe Physical Exfoliation uses little microbeads or a scrubby brush to to physically push dead skin cells away. Imagine sweeping a broom across your face. Don’t abuse your skin, scrubbing til you’re red is NOT the answer! philosophy - The Microdelivery Exfoliating Facial Wash this is a mild exfoliation that feels SO good and isn’t harsh on skin. Dont overscrub! 🌊 Which one is for Me? This really depends on your skin type! Oily-Acne Prone: chemical — scrubbing active spots can cause more acne Oily/Combo: chemical or physical your skin can benefit from both types Sensitive: mild chemical or mild physical — don’t scrub your sensitive skin to death Dry: chemical — use something MILD with hydration ingredients. physical may be too harsh for you and dry you out more Normal: chemical or physical — both work

If you have combination skin, it can be tricky to find products—you may find something that improves dryness only to worsen oiliness or vice versa.
My morning routine
Hi everyone 👋 these are my daily morning routine products! Let me know what you think! bliss - Clear Genius Clarifying Gel Cleanser bliss - Clear Genius Clarifying Toner + Serum I’ve already talked about the first two products in my nighttime routine so if you wanna hear my thoughts on those check out my first post! HOWEVER, I don’t always use the cleanser in the morning because like Cassandra Bankson said “how dirty can your face get overnight?”. So I only cleanse if my face is super oily (which it rarely is). If it isn’t oily then I skip straight to my toner. The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% I put this on after my bliss serum only on my problem areas such as breakouts and large pores just as a gentle spot treatment. I gave this 4 stars because I had used up an entire bottle and repurchased and still don’t see wonderful results. It does minimize pores and oil production but it takes a long time to get rid of breakouts and doesn’t heal acne scars or prevent future breakouts like the bliss clear genius does. ORIGINS - Clear Improvement Pore Clearing Moisturizer with Salicylic Acid bliss - Bright Idea Vitamin C + Tri-Peptide Collagen Protecting & Brightening Moisturizer I switch between these two moisturizers depending on what I need for the day. If I’m having a really bad breakout day I will use origins because of that extra acne fighting power. I rated it 4 stars however because it piles off and although it isn’t oily it looks like it on the skin if you put just a bit too much. The bliss bright idea is my go to for everyday and has not caused me any problems. It has vitimin c and collagen which will leave your skin moisturized and help with brightening and clearing scars. It also has niacinamide which is going to help with the oil production. I love this cause it is amazingly moisturizing, fighting oily skin, clearing acne scars, brightening and antiwrinkle!

You Don’t Need A Dermatologist When You Can Layer Your Dermalogica!
That heading is pretty much how I feel about Dermalogica. Their products have quite literally been a lifesaver for my oily and acne-prone skin. I got their “normal/oily skin kit” a while ago and actually ran out, so I recently purchased a new set! That’s how much I love them! I love to start my day using the kit, and it is so convenient for me. I no longer mix up my routine, use my PM products in the morning on accident, or forget a step in between. All because this kit covers everything I look for in my morning routine! I always start with the Special Cleansing Gel to clean my face in the mornings. With my oily skin, my pores get clogged with the sebum, so I find that I need to cleanse my face every morning. This one is absolutely perfect, with the right texture and amazing, soft scent. I can feel that my oil production is getting under control! After cleansing, I love to layer on a nice spray of the Multi Active Toner mist. This layer helps hydrate my freshly washed skin, but also is a great layering product because it allows the next layers to sit on the skin and absorb really well. It is such a fresh and fun way to wake up in the morning! I usually like to use a serum such as tea tree oil after my toner, then follow it with the Oil Control Lotion also by Dermalogica. This lotion is a true miracle! It does its job and is so lightweight! It doesn’t feel like I have anything on at all, which is a huge plus for me especially during the summer months. The scent is also not overbearing too! I would definitely rate it a 10/10. The Kit consists of five products; the cleansing gel, the multi active toner, a skin scrub that I use twice a week after cleansing, a moisturizer that I love to use after the oil control lotion, and lastly, the eye cream. The kit is such a lifesaver for those mornings when you are especially groggy and might also be running late for the day! dermalogica - Special Cleansing Geldermalogica - Multi-Active Tonerdermalogica - Intensive Eye Repairdermalogica - Skin prep scrub

Two Products I Love!!
ACURE - Brightening Facial Scrub I’ve read a lot of reviews from people who didn’t like this product because of how big the exfoliating pieces are, but I love it. I wouldn’t recommend it for those with sensitive skin because it can be slightly harsh depending on the pressure you use and how often you use it, however because my hyperpigmentation is so deep, I appreciate how much it scrubs away. My skin is always so soft and polished right after using. I’m not sure about the brightening affect, but I’ve only been using it for a few weeks so I feel like it’s too soon to tell. I’d say if you don’t have sensitive skin and benefit from a strong exfoliate then this is the product for you! It also only cost around $9 at Target. 💪🏾 My second fav is this clay mask I got from my IPSY May bag! The Pūrlisse Match Green Tea + Lemon Detoxifying Charcoal Mask. Every clay mask I’ve ever used leaves my skin red, itchy, and dry; this one goes on thin, smells great and never fails to leave my skin feeling super soft and refreshed. It’s great for AM or PM use and gentle enough to be used 2 or 3 times a week if needed. I’m not sure how deep it goes, or how well it clears my pores, but it does make my skin feel good, and like I said smells great. A full sized bottle cost $35 so I’m not sure I’d buy it on my own, but I will miss it when this one runs out so who knows! To me, this mask is a great self-care item to add to your list for when you need a pamper night to revive and rejuvenate your skin.☀️
ACURE-Brightening Facial Scrub
ooookay... not sure how I’m liking the ACURE - Brightening Facial Scrub 😬 For people with mild to severe acne, I would not recommend this product. It’s a physical exfoliant. It contains sea kelp and French green clay, but the crystals in the scrub are pretty harsh (to me) even if I rub gently 🥴 (I have combination skin with mild acne and hyperpigmentation in my cheek and chin areas) I really can’t even remember why I bought it (Probably an impulse-buy). The product claims to “brighten”, so I probably bought it to help with my dark spots.🤷🏾♀️ I try to use this product once a week or so but even then, I don’t use it on a consistent weekly basis ‘cus I just don’t like the fact that it hurts LOL (crybaby much?)😭 Anywayyy.. its about $10 for 4oz. Have any of you experienced the same thing? Any alternatives? 🤨
