Hidden gems: Fourth ray beauty’s Reveal AHA

Fourth Ray beauty is one such brand that mostly stands out for their cute, aesthetic packaging and their range of face milks! And ofcourse for they being cousin brand of infamous Colourpop cosemtics. I got these products to test whether they really do something for skin or not. I found these to be decently working except the mellow milk mist. I like this brand because of their ingredients focused products, such as their fruit/food based milks and serums. Some fruits like Pineapple and Papaya can be really great for skin. They have multiple Anti-oxidantd as well as Vitamins that help to target specific skin concerns. The only factor to look at is they need that particular extraction and formulation for those ingredients to work out of these fruits, most DIY recipes and extracts used directly on face will not give those benefits if not do any harm. I think Fourth ray beauty products are affordable and some of them might actually work great for your skin. I see people reaching for them mostly because they look cute and cohesive in their cabinet, but I think not all products or their face milks are necessary in your collection. The formula and the whole function if them is quite similar. 🍓I like the Strawberry milkFourth Ray - Strawberry Face Milk
as it is quite moisturizing on face, I found it to be a little more on greasy side when it settles on skin. I like this milk when I need that extra amount of moisture. Apart from moisturizing, and slightly Hydrating I didn't see it doing anything. Which is quite expected as it doesn't have any Actives in it. Most of the Fourth ray beauty products are on soothing and calming side as they contain such calming ingredients. ✨This milk has : Strawberry Seed Oil, Marshmallow, and Lotus Flower this formula conditions skin for a softer, healthier-looking complexion. ✨All three main ingredients are for moisturizing and hydrating effects as well as they can be calming on skin ✨This smells exactly like strawberry smoothie so for someone who loves fruity smell in skincare, this is really good. I didn't find any harshly irritating ingredients apart from the added fragrance in this milk. This has tiny amount of alcohol (mostly for penetration purpose) but nothing that will dry skin out. Overall I think it is a good lightweight moisturizer for Oily/combination skin types, especially in Winter. 🍋Other tried and loved product is their Reveal 10% aha serumFourth Ray - Reveal 10% Alpha Hydroxy Acid Serum
. I loved this serum as it works amazing on my acne prone, Sensitive skin. This has : Lactic acid , Glycolic acid and Strawberry extract. Lactic acid is second and Glycolic acid is fourth on their ingredients list which is really impressive. This serum is watery and doesn't irritate skin if used moderately. I truly enjoyed this serum. It definitely Exfoliates skin well, resurfaces the textural irregularities and lightens dark spots. If you want to try a different AHA serum on the market that won't break your bank, this serum is for 16$ for 30ml. I think you should definitely give this one a try! It's actually a hidden gem in AHA picks. 🍏Last one is their Mellow milk mistFourth Ray - Mellow Milk Face Mist
which has some soothing ingredients but I found it to be a little greasy on me so I didn't grab it as much. Also it didn't really seem to be working anything apart from soothing and calming irritation. ✨This has : WhiteTea, Chamomlie, and Marshmallow Root for a soft and comforted complexion. Definitely soothing anf calming ingredients. This has milky texture which leaves a slight oily finish on skin.

Some old, some new favorites 🌈
New: I’ve been trying out the Fourth Ray - Reveal 10% Alpha Hydroxy Acid Serum and I LOVE it! My skin is soooo soft and smooth afterwards. The Milk MAKEUP - Glow Oil Lip + Cheek delivers a subtle, glowy color to your cheeks and lips and blends pretty well. The only thing is that it stains my sponges so that’s a bummer. Recently picked up the FARMACY - Cheer Up Brightening Vitamin C Eye Cream with Acerola Cherrybut I haven’t tried it yet, trying to get through my other eye cream before I open this baby. Old faves: Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer my go to moisturizer for oily, acne prone skin. I’ve bought soooo many over the years! PHYSICIANS FORMULA - Murumuru Butter Bronzer is my favorite bronzer, I think ever? It’s just so blendable, buildable and the perfect bronze for my skin tone.

My current skin routine
I have been using the extra time to better maintain my skincare and here is my current routine. I have oily skin that is easily prone to acne, like wear makeup and later that day there’s a pimple somewhere on my face. (Usually my chin). I am on a budget so if anyone can recommend dupes for these I would be more than willing to try it! 🌞 Morning Routine 🌞 boscia - Clear Complexion Cleanser I really like this cuz it doesn’t strip my natural oils but I still feel like it got all the grossness off my face. My skin usually looks fresh without feeling stiff or dried out. GLOW RECIPE - Watermelon Glow PHA+BHA Pore-Tight Toner I have huge pores and this stuff is just amazing to me. I have noticed that my pores do look smaller and I love the fresh smell of watermelon as opposed to the candy based smell often found. I recommend it to anyone who has oily skin but doesn’t want their skin to feel stripped Fourth Ray - Matcha Face Milk I recently added this to help my skin clear our more since matcha is supposed to be good for acne skin. I honestly am not sure if it’s done much for my skin yet cuz I’m still testing but no bad reactions so far! BIOSSANCE - BIOSSANCE Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel I have dark circles naturally and this helps lighten those circles! I literally see a difference when I am putting it on and I love it! I will probably buy again unless I can find something similar for cheaper fresh - Lotus Youth Preserve Moisturizer I needed a lighter moisturizer for my day routine because anything to heavy is just bad for my skin and so far I love how light this is and my skin feels amazing without feeling greasy. Just wish it was cheaper! 🌛Nighttime Routine *🌜 *This is very similar to my day routine but some differences so I won’t go into detail of the products I already mentioned fresh - Sugar Strawberry Exfoliating Face Wash I recently have been trying this and don’t think I will end up buying again. It feels gentle but it doesn’t feel like it works well with my skin. I like to exfoliate 1-3 times a week depending how much my skin suffered that week but My skin didn’t feel cleaned just dry. I don’t think I’ll buy this again. I will just wash my face with my regular cleanser when I’m not exfoliating. Fourth Ray - Reveal 10% Alpha Hydroxy Acid Serum I bought at the same time as the matcha and with this I can see a difference for my skin. I tested it by putting it in my T zone because it’s the worse part and I saw my whiteheads on my chin drop significantly OLAY - Regenerist Micro Sculpting Cream this is a heavier cream so I save for night use. I was using it during the day and hated how greasy it made me feel all day so I changed it to night and now it fits for my skin routine but I want to find something better to replace it when I am out.

Discovering Essences
Discovering Essences
Essences aren’t new in the skincare world, but it wasn’t until recently more brands added them to their repertoire. An essence is a concentrated formula that targets wrinkles, fine lines, and dull skin. Most essences contain an active ingredient that promotes cell turnover. Eventually, the daily use of essences in your routine will lead to smoother and brighter skin. However, don’t be fooled by the promises that essences are somehow anti-aging powerhouses. I think of them as your skin’s multivitamin. Who Should Use this Essence Here’s the good thing about this product, because it’s almost entirely snail mucin filtrate, everyone should use it. But, you know I don’t believe in that “best for all skin types” stuff brands like to promote. To me, this product is a classic staple on everyone’s skincare routine, but those who need it have: Sensitive skin Dry skin Acne-prone skin Why? Because snail mucin can help reduce redness, nourishes at a cellular level, and provides a glow that will help fade out acne scars. But, most importantly, the combination of naturally-found hyaluronic and glycolic acid make it a must-have if you have sensitive or dry skin. How to Use this Essence It’s relatively simple to use an essence. After you’re done with the toner, use one or two pumps of product, it spreads easily. Apply all over your face and neck. Start from the center and work your way our with pulling motions, almost like a massage. Wait for it to dry before you move to the next step. Vitamin C for Acne Prone Skin!
Vitamin C for Acne Prone Skin!
If you’re familiar with my content you know I’m a big fan of the Volition Strawberry-C Serum. It’s a great vitamin C serum that is fungal-acne safe and I’ve found doesn’t exacerbate existing breakouts and helps to minimize the appearance of acne scars. Vitamin C serums are great for acne prone skin because it helps to brighten and even out the complexion. This serum is powered by vitamin-C derived from strawberries and is targeted at normal, dry, combination and oily skin types looking to combat enlarged and clogged pores, dryness, dullness and uneven texture. What makes this product such a standout to me is its consistency and it’s ability to work well alongside literally any other product I layer it up with. I find with acne-prone skin, it’s easy to overwhelm the skin with product and lead to more bumps and texture. With this serum, the viscous but very spreadable pink serum glides over the skin and sinks in immediately, ready for the next products to be layered on top. I’ve been using this serum for a little under a year now and I have a back up ready to go when I run out! I decided to try this serum because I was interested in the brand Volition first of all, and second of all because I was intrigued by the use of strawberries in this formula. I’m really appreciating how brands are branching out from oranges to find other ingredients to derive vitamin C from. This formula includes both strawberry fruit and strawberry seed extract to brighten dull skin, unclog pores and remove excess oil. I definitely feel like this does what it says it does by the way it feels on my skin both after application and throughout a day’s wear. Other standout ingredients include Kakadu plum to reduce the appearance of redness that may be from PIH or from active breakouts, as well as reinforcing skin’s luminosity. Of course it also includes hyaluronic acid, a staple ingredient to plump up skin. While a lot of formulas containing hyaluronic acid seem to overwhelm my skin (particularly in the humid months, as hyaluronic acid extracts moisture and gives it to the skin), I find this formula has hit the perfect sweet spot of plumping and moisturizing without going into overdrive. The ingredients list is also super clean which of course I appreciate. It’s got Cucumber water, radish root extract, the strawberry derivates discussed, sodium hyaluronate, and ascorbic acid as the first few ingredients and there’s not much else to it! I really love this serum. It’s not the most potent vitamin C serum I’ve tried by any means, but it does gently and effectively combat redness and control oil while keeping my skin moisturized and clear of impurities. I’d recommend this to anyone with acne prone skin fighting minor discoloration or with fungal acne seeking a serum that won’t feed the malessezia on the skin. It’s not cheap, $42 for 1 oz, but it lasts a very long time and I’m not even halfway through this bottle. If you seriously struggle with dark spots I’d suggest looking elsewhere for a stronger vitamin C, but if you’re looking for maintenance this is a great option. It spreads out like a dream and works wonderfully with every product I’ve used in combination with it (and there have been many!) 5/5 from me for my particular skin needs (combination, acne prone, dehydrated)!

🚨 Product Review 🚨
🚨 Product Review 🚨
Happy #selfcaresunday 🐚 ⠀ It’s a sad day because #1 it’s my last Sunday that I won’t be spending studying (classes start Wednesday) & #2 it’s one of my last few posts with my pretty little starfish as Fall slowly starts making its way towards us! ⠀ Today I am bringing you a rapid review of 2 serums from a brand that has a special place in my heart @earthharbor ! ⠀ Now I know these bottles are full but I started my collection with their 2 gift sets that they offer. This is how I was able to find out which products worked for me and which I wanted to purchase full size. ⠀ 🚨 Review Time 🚨 ⠀ 🐚 Marina: This brightening serum targets hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, redness & blotchy skin. It includes so many amazing ingredients such as squalene to lock in moisture, Japanese green tea oil to prevent the appearance of hyperpigmentation, and spirulina which prevents the skin from environmental toxins and fights bacteria that may lead to breakouts (to name a few). I truly saw a difference in my hyperpigmentation and dark spots with this product. It does have a scent which didn’t bother me but is good to know. Soaks into my skin without feeling like there’s left over oils sitting on top of it. EARTH HARBOR - MARINA Biome Brightening Ampoule ⠀ ⠀ 🐚 Calypso: this rejuvenating moisture elixir is a go to and I will definitely be using it by the bottom this fall/winter. It includes ingredients such as sea berry oil, chia seed oil that helps hydrate and soothe the skin, as well as daikon seed extract that helps tighten and lifting your skin giving it a more youthful appearance. I like to mix this with my moisturizer or even some masks to add even more moisturizing benefits to my skin! EARTH HARBOR - CALYPSO Rejuvenating Moisture Elixir ⠀ ⠀ Have you tried any @earthharbor products? Which has been your favorite?!

Best serum for all skin types
Best serum for all skin types
I really wish I did not like this product, in fact I wish I hated it, and I tried to replace it with so many "dupes", but so far I havent found anything better to fix/heal/treat my skin after using Retin-a. Look, I have a lot of hyperpigmentation or had a lot and now I have some, I also deal with texture this is all thanks to my hormonal acne, so I have finally learned to stick to my Retin-A 5 nights per week. Retinoid users know the struggle with dry and flaky skin, I have followed all types of derm advices on how to deal with it but all of those tips were nonsense on my combo skin, it actually made me stop using retin-a (which slowed down my improvement). But finally I decided to woman up and use my Retin-a (on a lower dose) every night during the quarantine, and in the mornings I would apply this product - LIQUID COLLAGEN- and girl let me tell you I didnt have to worry about peeling/flaky skin, of course this thing is pricey so I tried moisturizing with other stuff (cerave cream, the ordinary serums, and a bunch more because I am a serum/moisturizer junkie) but none gave me the heal this one did. A esthetician recommended me another similar product that costed less than this product but nope, it did not compare. This product is amazing, it hydrates me, it heals me, and it doesnt leave residue, I can apply whatever I want on top of it (spf, other moisturizers, foundation, etc) with no issues. Or I can apply this alone and live my life to the fullest period. Pro Works on any type of skin, dry, sensitive, oily. Did not make me break out at all, did not give me any side effect or skin reaction. Leaves my skin so soft and glowy Con: The only and biggest con of all - ITS PRICEY 😥😥😥 TIP Once you apply let it stay on your face for at least 10 mins before applying anything else, since this product is so precious let your face absorb all it can, then do w e you want to your pretty face. Do I recommend it? Obsviously! Will I repurchase? Wish I said no, but yes I will. I am going to try wait for sephoras next sale event to get the 20% off of this. And by the way, if anyone swears there is a true dupe for this at a fraction of the price please let me know! Love you all! Paula Q

The Ordinary’s Azelaic Acid Su
The Ordinary’s Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% is the kind of product I can’t be without, because my skin will look worse after a few days. Azelaic acid is also the most underrated ingredient out there. At least in my opinion. It’s an active that brightens the skin, helps with spots and inflammation, helps with redness and can even help with skin texture (that one will take time though). Unlike other acids, azelaic acid is suitable for sensitive skin: It will even help with rosacea (Skinoren and other 20% formulations are a common rosacea treatment, prescription only though). Let’s talk personal experience: My skin didn’t get brighter, I use loads of vitamin C though, so my skin was “bright” to begin with. It might help you with that, who knows! Then why do I love it so much? Azelaic acid was the one product that finally got rid of those annoying small bumps on my chin and cheeks that never quite turned into pimples but also never quite disappeared. Azelaic acid also makes my skin look so much calmer and less red. I ran out of it once and three days later my skin was bumpy and red again. Apart from plumping serums, no other product has such an immediate effect on my skin! Warning: it’s super silicone-y. I know that many people avoid silicones. I was actually one of them for years. Guess what changed that? Yup, also azelaic acid. I was super scared of silicone blocking my pores and giving me more bumps, so I completely avoided it. After using a few The Ordinary products, I really wanted to try azelaic acid though, it sounded so promising. After lots of back and forth I finally did. When my pores didn’t get blocked and my skin didn’t break out I slowly introduced other silicone-containing products and realised that I don’t react to any of them. Thanks azelaic acid!

A few regulars in my rotation
A few regulars in my rotation lately. The missha Time Revolution The First Treatment Essence Mist is the mist form of the classic essence. It's so incredibly gentle and dispenses such a fine mist. I find this so hydrating and calming when my eczema/perioral dermatitis are acting up. I've literally sprayed this straight into my eyes (I'm clumsy) and if anything it felt soothing. Bought this myself and will buy it again. The tula aqua infusion power liquid is a hydrating serum that includes hyaluronic acid as well as probiotics. I just love how well it hydrates and absorbs into my skin without feeling thick or sticky. I've been using the bioclarity clarifying masque frequently lately, but just the tiniest dollop on my chin instead of all over my face. The clay and tea tree oil in this super smooth detoxifying mask seem to calm inflammation and itchiness from the dermatitis on my chin whenever it chances to act up. Bumps look more flattened the day after using and it gets rid of redness. This is one of my favorite clay masks lately!
