Does 90% Centella Asiatica help?
Does 90% help??? The Answer is - Yes but it can be sensitizing as well. If not used properly it may irritate/ burn skin. 🌿Centella Asiatica (Cica) is very well known in the skincare community to be healing, calming and helping with irritation and inflammation. 🌿But what is Cica? Centella Asiatica is Asiatic/Indian Pennywort, is a herbaceous, perennial plant in the flowering plant family Apiaceae. It is native to the wetlands in Asia. It is used as a culinary vegetable and as a medicinal herb. The medicinal values and wound healing properties are known from ancient medicinal practices and values. The mention of this plant and it’s herbal and medicinal properties is found in Ayurveda (Ancient Indian Medicinal values) and Chinese Gotu Kola. The widespread clinical research speaks about it's quick wound healing properties and it is shown to increase collagen production and increased tensile strength in newly formed skin in the wounded areas. 🌿Now talking about how is it helpful for people with Acne? It works in similar fashion for compromised barrier with Acne, Sun damage and other skin concerns. It helps to heal the skin with rapid collagen production and elasticity. MalloryI love this ingredient!! I’m trying to find more products with it because it doesn’t really seem to be a common one

Beautycation_by_shrutiI agree, it’s a very old ingredient in fact ancient but getting loved here is West recently. Our Ancient Indian medicinal books have Cica mentioned also in Ancient Chinese Gotu Kola (Chinese medicinal values) ☺️If you wanna try, Try Elemis one, it’s more gentle and cooling. ❤️

These two products for Broken barrier ❤️
These two from @pureheals work as a power combo for anyone who experiences some disruption in skin barrier. I have experienced great improvement in skin, it helped in fast healing and smoothening out the rough texture on skin. Pureheals is a korean brand which speaks for the quality of their products. Centella 90 Ampoule PureHeals - Centella 90 Ampoule is purely a Centella Asiatica product. If you don't know what Centella Asiatica or widely known as Cica is, it is a plant based ingredient that's used in skincare to soothe and calm the inflammation. It also helps in reducing redness or any type of irritation on skin. It is mostly hypoallergenic which is why it's added is many calming products Asian countries. This Ampoule is a bit potent as it has 90% Cica in it. But if used moderately and with the Propolis mask it works amazing. Benefits: ✨Skin irritation tested. Uses EWG green grade ingredients. ✨Contains 90% of Centella Extract to soothe irritated skin for a healthy radiance. ✨Reinforces collapsing skin barrier with Ceramide NP to protect skin. ✨Fortifies skin moisture barrier to protect skin from the external aggressors. ✨Contains Adenosine to improves fine lines and Niacinamide for skin brightening. The watery consistency is very lightweight and gets absorbed quickly. Also, it feels quite cooling and Hydrating on skin. The Propolis 80 sleeping mask PureHeals - Propolis Sleeping Pack is another great product from their line. First off, it smells exactly like Manuka honey, and it's texture is nothing but honey. But it's a well formulated skincare product, doesn't feel sticky or heavy on skin. It glides on skin like gel and feels absolutely cooling and soothing. It has 80% Propolis extract which is rarely available in its pure form. It is usually obtained from beehives and contains bee products. Bees use propolis to build their hives. Propolis is used for diabetes, cold sores, and swelling (inflammation) and sores inside the mouth (oral mucositis). It has skin healing and anti-inflammatory properties for so many skin concerns. A broken or compromised barrier is another one. Think of it as a wound and the combination of Centella Asiatica and Propolis extract will increase the healing process as well as provide the necessary moisture and hydration to skin. I have Hormonal acne and whenever I get that broken, bleeding barrier, I use this combination overnight and it helps in healing my skin. Also, I use this mask on my dry patches and they tend to get softened. Benefits: ✨Contains 80% of Propolis Extract for skin moisturising and soothing. ✨Blends with 13 kinds of botanical oils for a honey-glowing skin finish. ✨Improves wrinkles with Adenosine and brightens skin with Niacinamide. Think of it as an amazing combination for sensitive skin. I truly enjoy these two in my routine.
Should we give products a second chance?
Do your products don't seem to work? Do you stop using them and then later after few weeks give them a second chance? Do some products work at all for you? When is too soon to know certain product isn't working? I dealt with these questions for months before finally able to answer them. I am a skincare ingredients learner, I am studying ingredients, skin science and skincare products formulation for more than a year and everyday I learn something new. The products I'm talking about and shown in picture are the ones that didn't work for me in the first run. I stopped using them and I realized I like the ingredients, like the formula, I know certain ingredients show result on my skin then why isn't these working? So, I gave these a second chance and Vola! I actually liked them! And not only liked, some of them quite actually worked amazing in giving me good results! These products may not be the exact same ones that need second chance from you but I believe if you have similar skin like me, this will be helpful. 1. Tonymoly AmpoulesTONYMOLY - Vital Vita 12 Poresole Ampoule TONYMOLY - Vital Vita 12 Brightening Ampoule TONYMOLY - Vital Vita 12 Synergy Ampoule TONYMOLY - Vital Vita 12 Ampoule Moisture I love ampoules. They are more potent form of serums that are packed with ingredients which penetrate deep in skin and work their magic. But for some reason I did not like these ampoules from Tonymoly. They didn't do a thing for my skin. After weeks, I incorporated them again in my routine but with different moisturizer, sunscreens and toners and they started to feel better. I still didn't see ground breaking results from these yet but I really enjoy the formula of these amouples. It's lightweight, watery consistency that absorb quickly and doesn't feel sticky at all. I like to use these in the morning. 🌟 2. The ordinary RetinolsThe Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion THE inkey LIST - Retinol Serum Retinol is my go-to after Niacinamide. I love the results they give. The ordinary's Retinol in squalane oil was a big No for me. It was too heavy for my liking and didn't work. Then I gave it a second chance and used it along with Niacinamide serum in my routine. Of course it's oil so it goes at the very last in your night time skincare routine and it's actually great! It is very gentle, you will have to use it for 2-3 weeks atleast to see any results. Granactive Retinoid emulsion is my most favorite formula. It not only works amazing in just one use but the milky texture gets absorbes very quickly and feels amazing. My skin feels super soft and less textured the next morning. ( I have oily, Textured skin so I really like results of products that reduce that) 3. Centella Asiatica PureHeals - Centella 90 Ampoule If you're Acne prone or have sensitive skin in general, this ingredient must have been hyped a lot about in your social life. It's actually an amazing ingredient that works amazing in reducing redness and inflammation. It's calming soothing as well as hydrating. So what went wrong? It irritated my skin. It started to burn and itch a bit and I didn't feel it calming at all. Then I used it in less amount. Just three drops for entire face and I liked it! It works better if you consistently use it for 3-4 weeks. 4. Fourthray beauty Reveal. Fourth Ray - Reveal 10% Alpha Hydroxy Acid Serum It's an interesting one. I love AHAs. This was the first product that had both Glycolic acid and Lactic acid so it was quite harsh at first when i started to use. But, later when my skin could actually handle AHA and their high potency I started using this again. I loved it! It worked amazing. It gave well known AHA results, skin felt smoother and it reduced texture and hyperpigmentation. 5. Fleur and bee Fleur & Bee - Nectar of the C / Natural Vitamin C Serum This serum is supposed to work slowly so my bad that i felt it did not work at all. It does work if you use it for weeks. Simple as that. Some products do take time than others, this is one of them. I like the feel and tecture of this Vitamin C serum It's an affordable option for anyone who wants a good Vitamin C serum. Let me know do you give your products a second chance? ❤️

Keep calm, cool & hydrated 💚
I’ve had this green beauty in my stash for sometime (via Boxycharm) and just recently broke into it. If your face is in need of a refreshing shot of hydration, ELEMIS - Superfood CICA Calm Hydration Juice might be for you! But, read on.... ABOUT: Loaded with vitamin-packed Superfoods, 75% Organic Aloe and a Prebiotic, this gel moisturiser delivers instant cooling hydration while helping to soothe and protect dehydrated or sensitive skin. It’s a great sensation coming from the fridge! ❄️ INGREDIENT CALLOUTS: Organic Aloe Vera Green Mandarin & Kiwi Fruit Waters Organic Cucumber Extract 👎Cica — listed as the last ingredient so definitely not note worthy as their website claims, nor it’s name! 🤔 👎Unfortunately it also does contain fragrances. HOW TO USE: Can be used every day, both am & pm. Apply pea-sized amount after cleansing and toning. It’s a gel consistency and spreads easily. Very light aloe scent with no residue at all (non-sticky). I like to use this whenever my face needs an extra shot of hydration or just a little TLC. I typically apply it after I’ve cleansed, toned and applied my treatment. So just before I’d moisturize. I’ve found it has helped balance my skin out and clear up some irritation I had on my chest. I’d really like this a lot more if it didn’t have so many ingredients that can be irritants especially for a product that claims to be calming for the skin. 🙁 This can be very misleading! A quick search will find that this has pretty high ratings as well. For me, it works but I’d be very hesitant to recommend it for anyone who is sensitive to fragrance. Pictured is the 50 ml size priced at $48. WOULD I REPURCHASE? Nope! Even though I am not sensitive to fragrance I do know that it can become problematic. I am really trying to be more conscious about the products I purchase and use so I do not cause unwanted damage to my skin. Fragrances: Fragrance, Limonene, Bergamot - those listed that I’m familiar with. ❤️🍒
💚Elemis is my favorite skincare brand. I was lucky enough to grab these beauties at a discounted price at Boxy charm. 💚The superfood Cica calm cleansing foam is my favorite foaming cleanser. This cleanser gently cleanses the skin removing excess oil and dirt, and leaves a calm feeling after you wash it off. The morning I applied it, my skin felt very calm, soft, and hydrated. It's star ingredient Cica has been used in traditional chinese medicine for centuries. It's main benefit is to soothe and repair irritated skin, and to help boost collagen production. It also helps to revive dull and dry skin. 💚The hydration juice also contains the star ingredient of Cica, is loaded with aloe vera and prebiotic which instantly leaves a cooling effect on the skin. My face felt cool and awaken as I applied it in the mornings and sometimes evenings. I tend to replace my hyaluronic acid serum with this cause I love the hydaration and plumping it gives me. 💚Both the face wash and hydration juice can be used morning and evenings, but I prefer to use them in the mornings to awaken me.
🐌 Gary Had Secrets - Secrets to Hydration 🐌
When I think of skincare, I don’t think of snail mucin (slime - snail secretion filtrate) but lo and behold it exists and its a holy grail product 🐌🙌🏻🐌 The ancient Greeks knew Gary’s secret looong before I did. Then France, then Chile, then Korea. Basically everyone else way before me. 💁🏻♀️ Snail mucin is actually incredibly beneficial to skin thanks to some of the different components in it: glycolic acid glycoprotein enzymes copper peptides hyaluronic acid Its also...anti-microbial 🐌 All of these pieces make it great for repairing skin damage, evening skin tone, fading hyperpigmentation, firming and tightening the skill, boosting collagen production and hydrating the skin thanks to its hyaluronic acid. Do I like it? Absolutely I do! Its one of the only moisturizers I’ve ever found that soaks into my skin so nicely and leaves my skin feeling so plump and hydrated AND it hasn’t caused any acne flare-ups for me at all. Actually its been helping my skin stay hydrated and keeping my acne down. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Price? The price is comparable to some other Ulta / Sephora beauty picks, but its also a fair price considering a little goes a long way ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Recommend for? I’d recommend it for all skin types, even oily 🙋🏻♀️ It is on the lighter side though, so dry / dehydrated skin types might not benefit as much from it. But if you’re in the market for a lightweight moisturizer, give it a try 🙌🏻 Texture? Not gonna lie, its a little slimy / sticky and it took me about ten minutes of just playing with it between my fingers before I actually put it on my face. But, it spreads easily and absorbs quickly ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Overall thoughts? Overall this product is amazing, its hydrating but light and it really is the only product that I’ve used that has really brought my dehydrated skin back to life and even moreso when combined with my other hydrating products. It makes me hesitant to even think of trying a different moisturizer because my skin feels sooo good ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ingredients? Snail Secretion Filtrate, Betaine, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic acid, Arginine, Dimethicone, Carbomer, Panthenol, Allantoin, Sodium Polyacrylate, Xanthan Gum, Ethyl Hexanediol, Adenosine, Phenoxyethanol.

Meet my Favorite K-Beauty Brand💐
𝐏𝐲𝐮𝐧𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐘𝐮𝐥 is a skincare brand launched by the renowned Pyunkang Oriental Medicine Clinic, an institution well-known for treating atopic skin disorders. Although I have not talked about them much online, Pyungkang Yul has been one of my favorite brands and I have always enjoyed most of the products they’ve offered. I like that they are using traditional ingredients and promoting a minimalist approach to skin care. Pyungkang Yul uses only the gentle, yet effective ingredients to help find the optimum balance for your skin. I have combination/oily skin and also acne-prone and here’s my top three recommendations that I think are most suitable for my skin type: Pyunkang Yul - Essence Toner ~ intensely hydrating formula designed to deliver nutrient-filled moisture to skin. Made up of 𝟗𝟏.𝟑% 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐤 𝐯𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐭 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭, full of skin-beneficial betaine and minerals. With the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, nutrient-boosting properties of the root extract, this gel-type toner quickly absorbs to hydrate and strengthen skin. ~ LOVE THIS. It has added so much hydration and moisture to my skin. I don’t use toner regularly but it’s a nice product to give your skin an extra oomph when it needs it. This is very gentle and works without causing irritation and disrupting the skin barrier. Other serums and moisturizers layer on top of this beautifully. It feels very balancing, anti-inflammatory and hydrating; all with so few natural ingredients. This literally makes my skin feel cool and calmed. Even better when stored in the fridge so it’s even more refreshing on irritated or hot skin. I highly recommend it! Pyunkang Yul - Pyunkang Yul Moisture Cream ~ enriched with 𝐂𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐬 𝐉𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭 for an intensive, everyday treat for your skin. Creamy and rich, this luxurious formula is buttery smooth without being heavy or greasy, absorbing quickly into your skin and leaving it hydrated and bouncy. ~ This was a skin saver when I was starting with Tretinoin and was experiencing dryness in the first few weeks. But still enjoy using it until now. The cream is very moisturizing but not too heavy which makes it still tolerable for oily skin. The texture is silky smooth which is a pleasure to apply and massage onto the face. This does not leave my skin oily or greasy -- it leaves a slight glow when you first apply it but sinks in beautifully overnight. Pyunkang Yul - Peeling Gel ~ moisturizing peeling gel that gently exfoliates and boosts skin moisture with 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐨𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐟 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭 to promote radiance. ~ Absolutely love this. I try to use it every now and then to just kind of get rid of extra dead skin cells and excess oil. I apply on dry skin, leave it on for about 2 minutes and start gently massaging it. The product gently catches dead skin cells on the surface of the skin. Easy to use and you see the results right away. The value is a big plus. It’s very affordable at $14.99 compared to my other favorite, The Cure Aqua Gel. It smells a little bit medicinal but not irritatingly so. Definitely worth a try for oily, acne-prone gals like me!

Summer to Fall Skincare Routine Changes🍁
I have sensitive, acne-prone combo skin. I live in New England so when the weather changes I find I need to make some adjustments to my regular routines. I plan this out ahead of time so I know I have products on the shelf and ready because when it gets cold here, it happens FAST. My current summer base routine for the day (pictured): 1. Water-based cleanser ☀️ Current = Matcha Hemp Cleanser by Krave 2. Vitamin C serum with Hyaluronic Acid ☀️Current = Face Serum by SkinKissed 3. Moisturizer ☀️ Current = Daily Greens by Farmacy 4. Sunscreen ☀️ Current = Beet Shield by Krave As it is now summer, this is a lightweight routine and I love it. This addresses my concerns without making me feel greasy. When fall comes, my goals are the same in terms of preventing acne, keeping skin bright, etc., but I also need to focus on hydration. Here’s an example of what I’m thinking💭 🍁 Fall Routine 🍁 1. Cleanser = Matcha Hemp Cleanser by Krave $16 for 4.05 oz This cleanser is actually already very hydrating for my skin and I love the ingredient list, price point and of course it’s packed with antioxidants. This is a year round product for me now and I’ve been recommending it to my friends. 2. Vitamin C- Vitamin C Serum by Mad Hippie $33.99 for 1oz I’m struggling a bit with Vitamin C. I like the one I have, I’m just ready to try something new and this one looks INCREDIBLE. It has amazing ingredients that are anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, soothing, brightening and hydrating. This product is also vegan and cruelty-free. I always have a Vitamin C serum in my morning routine because it helps my skin so much! I’m also going to try the one by Naturium just to see if it was worth the hype and drama. 3. Moisturizer Day time- Oat So Simple by Krave $28 for 2.7 oz This will be a new one for me, but as you can tell, I adore Krave. This still looks fairly lightweight and with the oat, it is calming for irritations and rebalancing for stressed skin damaged by environmental aggressors. Night time- Healing Ointment by CeraVe $12 for 5oz I stopped using this at night for summer, but as things get cold here, having that layer of super hydration at night will really help my skin again. I love this product. It’s super affordable and honestly always helps. It has Hyaluronic Acid and Ceramides in it too. 4. Sunscreen = Centella Unscented Sunscreen by Purito $15.90 for 2oz I stopped using this for summer because it’s a bit thicker than Beet Shield and more hydrating which I didn’t need this season. This has soothing properties and feels smooth on the skin. I absolutely love this and will use it each morning when it starts to get chilly! I’m also buying it for my mom who struggles with dry patches and redness. 🍁What are you adding into your routine for fall? 💛BEST HYALURONIC ACID SERUM EVER! 🧡💙
Myth: Only dry skin can be dehydrated. Wrong! Normal and oily skin can be dehydrated as well. Dehydrated skin is skin that lacks water content, while dryness refers to skin that lacks oil . In fact, oily skin tends to overproduce oil to compensate for the lack of water. This can lead to breakouts and enlarged pores. Other signs of dehydration include tightness, fine lines, dullness, and increased sensitivity. 💛Let’s Talk Hyaluronic Acid🧡💙 Hyalruonic Acid is one of the best answers for dehydrated skin. It’s a humectant, an ingredient that binds to moisture. It has the ability to hold 1,000 times its weight in water! This results in hydrated, soft, plump skin! HADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion contains FIVE types of hyaluronic acid as well as sacaran algae known for its moisturizing properties. Hello hydration! 💦 💛Review🧡💙 (Swipe to see texture pic) This product is a serum with a thick milky consistency. It’s formulated WITHOUT fragrance, dye, or mineral oil.Since this product is a humectant, it’s best to use this product when the skin is wet. I currently use this at night. After I cleanse my skin, I immediately put this on and tap it into my skin. After it fully absorbs, I follow up with my moisturizer. This J-product product beats all of the overpriced HA serums in Sephora! Not only does it keep my skin hydrated, soft and plump for hours, but within 10-15 minutes of usage, the appearance of my enlarged pores are gone! This will also be a lifesaver when my skin becomes dry and sensitive during winter. This is a new constant in my routine. I got mine in an Asian beauty store but you can find the product on Amazon and YesStyle! It’s only 15 dollars!! Can’t wait to try more products from this brand! Happy Hydration! 💦

Brand Spotlight: Shani Darden Skincare
Esthetician Shani Darden created her skincare line after training under a leading dermatologist. Her products, especially Retinol Reform, are popular among celebrities like Kelly Rowland @rosiehw, and Emmy Rossum. I received the best package with 4* of her cult favorites to test: Retinol Reform, Cleansing Serum, Weightless Oil-Free Moisturizer, and the Sake Toning Essence. The packaging is minimal and sleek, which I am a fan of, and the pumps on the product make it easy to disperse. Retinol Reform: 2.2% encapsulated retinol targets uneven tone, fine lines, wrinkles, dullness, and acne scars without the irritation and dryness of other retinol serums. Also contains 2% lactic acid. I've only used this once so I can't speak on the claims. I liked the consistency and how quickly this absorbed. I didn't experience any tingling or other unpleasant sensations. I will be updating here when I've finished. Weightless Oil-Free Moisturizer: The texture and consistency are just what I look for in a moisturizer. This is super light-weight and absorbs nicely, leaving my skin feeling soft and non-greasy. I've been using this AM and PM since I received it only a few days ago so I can't say much. Cleansing Serum: Ever heard of a cleansing serum? This removes both makeup and impurities without stripping the skin. It contains hyaluronic acid and oat bran extract to restore moisture and olive extract to calm. Sake Toning Essence: Brightening, mattifying, and alcohol-free. Sake brightens the skin while Sebocytine controls oil production and appearance of pores.
