Am I missing something??? Saturday Skin Essence
I first tried Saturday Skin with a set they released and fell in love with the featherweight moisturizer and eye cream. So, during the most recent Sephora sale, when I saw the Freeze Frame Beauty Essence was on sale I was excited to pick it up. This K-Beauty product is one of my first essences I’ve ever owned and I’m still on the fence regarding if this is a necessary step in MY personal skincare routine as someone with combination and acne-prone skin, BUT I’ve been enjoying using it as it has been getting more frigid outside and my skin is drying out more. This essence is not the texture I would’ve expected, it is more lotion-y and sticky than liquid-y which is what I thought essences were supposed to be, but I guess I was wrong! It is infused with pomegranate extract to boost skin’s hydration and firmness, Cha-7 es Complex which is a peptide formula to promote natural skin cell renewal, squalane my favorite moisturizing oil, avocado protein extract to improve moisture barrier protection and peach extract to enhance the look of skin vitality. If I’m being honest I did not look at the ingredients list prior to purchasing because I had heard friends rave about it and was swayed by the nearly 5 star reviews on Sephora. That being said, there are some ingredients I would like to mention for those of you who are sensitive: a big yikes is that denatured alcohol is pretty high up on the list… very interesting for an essence since in ESSENCE essences are supposed to be hydrating and alcohol is inherently drying, but…. That’s that. It’s got a lot of silicone based ingredients in it, which I don’t have a problem with personally but I know has become an increasing concern amongst people (though there is no research yet to support that it is bad for the skin!) It’s got a lot of plant oils like lemon peel oil, orange peel oil, grapefruit peel oil, lavender oil, rosemary leaf oil etc so if you’re sensitive to oils be wary — you can tell just by dispensing it from the scent that this is chock full of oils. I’ve only been using this product for a few weeks now, but I’m going to be honest I’m not really sure what all of the hype is about. I don’t feel like it really does anything for my skin — good or bad. Many reviews on Sephora claim it is great at plumping and even has helped to calm acne. Maybe I had unrealistic expectations because of how raved about this product is, and I’m going to keep using the product and maybe things will improve, but lets just say it hasn’t convinced me that I need essences in my life, but I’d love to hear from others who use and love essences because it it totally possible that I’m not understanding the product enough. I neither dislike it or like it per se, although I do think it can feel a bit heavy for me and my combo skin, especially since right now I’m trying to simplify my routine. I personally do not have reason to recommend this product but keep in mind that this is coming from someone with combination skin! I would’ve loved to see the firming effects that this product claims to promote, but so far, nothing has happened in that regard. Also, I think the price ($47 for 1.69 oz) is a bit ridiculous upon reading the ingredients — I’m not really sure what in this product makes it worth that hefty price tag — its really just a collection of silicones and essential oils?? I feel like this product could honestly be super pore clogging for a lot of people, but I’m super stumped because it has very few negative reviews on Sephora, so I want to believe it is user error! The packaging is adorable and I really like the line but I think I can only really give this product a 2/5 because its nice but like, what am I really paying for?

my wallet hates this: 2020 repurchase
Okay, so over the holiday season I treated myself to some luxury skincare - Amorepacific has a set for a really great price to try out some of their products. I specifically bought it because I wanted to see the hype for this bad boy: AMOREPACIFIC - Vintage Single Extract Essence This product is $145 for 4.05 ounces, which has always seemed so wild to me. The essence only contains six ingredients, only one of which being something that isn’t a preservative, emollient, or something that is meant to help the product penetrate the skin - green tea leaf extract. My expectations were really low when trying this out, buuuuut It’s good. I made sure this was the only new product I introduced into my skincare routine for the two weeks previous and after I finished this sample tube, I did not add a replacement for two weeks as I wanted to see how my skin changed. This product claims to target fine lines, dryness, dullness, and uneven texture and it did all of that for me. My skin looked more plump when I used it, my skin was brighter and had less congestion/dullness, and overall my skin looked healthier. It’s a very lightweight product, it really just feels like slapping some water onto your face, but the green tea extract really works its magic. I know this product is pretty divisive for people, but for me this did what it promised to and has been overall more enjoyable and effective than other essences that I’ve tried. I won’t be repurchasing this for awhile as I have other products to work through, but as of right now this will be the first essence I get once I’m through my little stash 5/5 stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Saturday Skin Bright Potion✨
SATURDAY SKIN - Bright Potion Probiotic Power Serum I have a combination skin and sometimes experience dull skin. This probiotic power serum is perfect for dullness and uneven texture. Serum is water like and layers beautifully with other essences and creams. My experience has been so well with this serum. I really like the ingredients in this serum like niacinamide & seabuckthorn. I would recommend this product to someone who’s looking for brightening power. The price is on high end but it’s totally worth it.

The vitamin c of my dreams
Summer Fridays cc me serum - • Price: $64 • Skin types: normal, dry, combination and oily • Product function: A multitasking serum that naturally brightens, improves skin texture, and reduces dark spots and hyperpigmentation. • Target concerns: dullness, texture, dark spots, hyperpigmentation • Key ingredients: vitamin c 1&2, squalane, peptide complex, niacinamide • Ingredient callouts: vegan, cruelty-free and gluten-free • Texture: thin, super light nude color, shiny • Fragrance: light, fresh, and floral • How I use it: every morning after toner and before essence • My opinion: I bought the cc me serum as soon as it was launched (especially because it came with a free t-shirt), and I am now on my second bottle thanks to my sephora gift card from cherie. This is the best vitamin c for my skin that I have tried; it is thin and not sticky at all which is hard to find in a vitamin c, plus it has a very pleasant fragrance. I have been using this serum consistently for about 3 months now and I am very impressed with the results. My skin looks a bit more smooth, bright, glowy, and plump after each use. I definitely recommend the cc me serum to anyone who is the market for a new vitamin c serum, but I would definitely do a patch test or try a sample first because I have heard of others having a bad reaction to it. CC Me is a little bit pricey at $64 but I definitely think it is worth it because it is the best vitamin c serum around that price range for my skin that I have tried. I will always repurchase!

Iunik Propolis vitamin synergy serum
This is a hydrating serum. This is a serum that is packed with effective and clean ingredients. It layers perfectly with all skincare products that I use before/after this step. This is an awesome serum if you have any skin type. I personally have dry skin and find this super lightweight, yet hydrating. It is packed with propolis, which is a compound produced by beed that is thought to fight infections and heal wounds + is super hydrating. This serum also has niacinamide which helps with sebum production and the redness from inflammation. This has no fragrance or unecessary filler ingredients. It is now an empty, but I used this day and night. Although I didn’t find it to help my hyperpigmentation spots since mine are pretty stubborn and needs a stronger serum for it, it always left my skin super bright and glow. You can find this serum for $12.36 in Yesstyle.com. IT IS WELL WORTH THE MONEY. If this cost more, I would still repurchase it. This lasted me about 6 months.
GOOD MOLECULES - Niacinamide Serum The Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum is formulated with 10% Niacinamide (vitamin B3) to help refine skin tone and texture. Niacinamide is clinically proven to improve the look of enlarged pores, uneven skin tone and texture, and dullness. It also helps to strengthen the skin’s barrier function and reduce moisture loss for a healthy, hydrated complexion. I never before had any intention to incorporate a Niacinamide focused product into my routines until Good Molecules gifted me their Niacinamide Serum. I applied the Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum every morning for 2 weeks and definitely noticed more smooth skin and an even skin tone. I don’t have a problem of enlarged pores, so I can’t speak to how it helps minimize the appearance of pores. Lastly, I have noticed a brighter complexion but this could be a result of a combination of products in my skincare routines. What I love about this serum is that it’s very easy to use. I just pump 1-2 drops of the product on to my palm and gently pat into my skin. I love that this water-based serum feels very lightweight on my skin (no stickiness whatsoever) and absorbs seamlessly under my skincare and makeup. It has a clear, thin slippery texture to it and is fragrance-free. The Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum (30 ml / 1 oz) sells for $6 on the BeautyLish website. It’s definitely a product worth the price and will last you months. I highly recommend this serum to anyone looking to smooth and brighten their skin. It’s an affordable product that I think works so well in any skincare routine. I rate this product 5 out of 5 ⭐️’s.
