Il Makiage got it right!!!
So after seeing this foundation on my feed for well over a year I caved and took the plunge for the 2 week trial (truthfully my bestie gave in first and i had to try it too, lol) The fist shade they sent me was way too lignt but their customer service is on point and after sending them a selfie in natural light they sent me an almost perfect match. This picture was taken on my day off after playing with my toddler, cleaning house, frying chicken for supper and wearing it for over 8 hours. I snapped this right before I did my nightly skincare because I was amazed at how beautiful it still looked. I'm going to use it again tomorrow when I head back to work and have a 12 hour day booked. If anyone is invested I can post again and see what happens after that 112 hour mark!!
LIQUID VS POWDER FOUNDATION: WHO’S ON TOP? 🏆
I have oily skin and make up never seems to last too long. Over the years I’ve learned some ways to get more out of my makeup but ultimately the oil always wins. I also have hyperpigmentation all over my face so my makeup always needs to be full coverage so I can conceal it. When it comes to foundation I have tried both liquid and powder. Which is best for my oily skin? Liquid Foundation: when wearing a liquid foundation I’ve found that mattifying foundations are a must! It may look matte on the skin for a short while but when your skin is oily like mine you’ll end up looking dewy. I find that liquid foundations often look more skinlike than powder foundations however it is so hard to find the perfect shade my face always ends up looking a little lighter or darker than the rest of my body. Too much foundation can make my skin look cakey. Powder Foundation: i feel like powder foundations are easier to match to skin tone and easier to build up without looking cakey. However, powder foundations make my skin look dull even when using a highlighter and when combined with a mattifying primer and leave dry/flakey spots on the skin. Verdict: though there are pros and cons to both types of foundation I like liquid foundation better. It helps achieve a radiant skinlike look that I love! Foundations to me are kind of like vegetables to a toddler; you know you need them, but there aren’t many you like. I’ve been trying this combo from bobbibrown australia for a solid month now, whilst on hiatus from bathing in fake tan, and I have to say... I like it! I definitely chose a colour that can only be worn when I’m my natural shade of “have you ever been in the sun?”, but I especially love this formula for that exact reason! I really loath matte finishes for pale skin because, while I may be pasty, I still want to appear glowing and healthy, at the very least. This foundation has such a great finish that isn’t dewy, but also isn’t matte - it’s just natural! And paired with this moisturiser/primer potion and some luminous bronzer, it makes me forget about all the vegetables and vitamins I’ve been missing out on, and my sad, slightly ill-looking face is no more! *PS. Not my fave for a looooong day of wear, but 6-8 hours and it’s perf!
BOBBI BROWN-Skin Long-Wear Weightless Foundation SPF 15
I was intrigued by discoverfound and picked up a couple of things from their range. The Radiant Illuminating Drops in “Sunkissed” & the Nourishing Cream Blush Tint in the shade “Coral Flush” are both quite lovely. The Illuminating Drops leave a beautiful glow without a ton of glitter particles. The texture reminds me of Benefit High Beam. My only gripe with this product is the applicator. The texture is a little too thick for a dropper. The blush is a nice alternative to other high-end cream blushes. It applies seamlessly and blends nicely with a sponge or your fingers. 👍🏼 The physiciansformula Butter Bronzer is really beautiful. Usually, I stick to matte bronzers, but I love the glow that this gives. It’s so subtle and blends like, well, butter. 👍🏼 I wanted to compare the realtechniques Blend + Blur Foundation Brush to my beloved Artis brushes. This brush is about half the size of my palm brush, but just as densely packed. This brush soaks up a TON of foundation and doesn’t apply my base as flawlessly as the pricier alternative, but I do like it for blending cream blush or bronzer. 🤷🏼♀️ Despite the good things I’ve heard about cotyinc Airspun Powder, I’m not impressed. This “translucent powder” is finely milled and feels light on the skin, it left a slight cast and clung to dry patches. 👎🏼
Clean Dynamic Duo for a Flawless Complexion
I’m in love. This duo is infused with aloe and skin loving ingredients to give you your best face and glow. It’s incredibly natural looking, long wearing and dewy. I think I found my new forever favs ❤️ I love Ilia ILIA - True Skin Radiant Priming Serum ILIA - True Skin Serum Foundation
