🧼Rebuilding My Moisture Barrier💧🤍
It’s always a balancing act when it comes from skincare. 😅 at least for me! Haha 💧I’ve had adult acne and have acne-primed skin, so when it comes to finding the right products that don’t over-strip my skin but also keep my breakouts & acne under control...you could say it’s been a journey! 💧If you saw one of my recent posts about my retinol breakout 😪 I’m back to familiar territory aka flaky, dry, inflamed skin aka my moisture barrier is damaged. And with the colder months, I’ve been spending more time trying to repair it. 💧These are some of the products that have been helping me: 🧴COSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence : I recently purchased this essence and have really loved the effects. I use it after cleansing and find that it helps when I use it when my skin is still damp! It’s made my skin so soft & since it’s an essence, it allows for my other products to penetrate deeper into my skin. I will say, for those who are not really familiar with essences (especially this one), many often have a gel-like texture that isn’t super typical in some products (slightly sticky & for this one, slimy). 🧴CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin : my tried and true!!! I’ve been layering this product on, especially at night after the essence. Day or night, this lotion is a must-have in my book. It doesn’t feel oily on my skin and the hyalauronic acid is such a bonus since this an ingredient that helps draw in moisture into the skin. 🧴Krave - The Beet Shield : WORTH THE HYPE! Love Krave Beauty and I LOVE the Beet Shield. The texture is amazing, super light and dried down pretty quickly without a white cast. It makes me WANT to put on sunscreen and not just feel like I NEED to. 〰️After cutting back on the steps in my routine, and feeling& seeing results, I’ve been reintroducing these products for gentler exfoliation!〰️ 🧼CLARISMA - Cali Dreaming Cream Daily Moisturizer : the Clarisma moisturizer is super light and something I’ll typically wear during the day. It’s gentle and I like to wear it on days I’m inside especially since it is a lighter moisturizer and when I’m outside in the cold, I prefer something heavier. 🧼CLARISMA - Malibu Blush Exfoliating Scrub : the most gentle exfoliator! The exfoliating scrub isn’t at all like other physical exfoliants. The Luffa fruit breaks down when you use it so no micro tears with this one. The enzymes used also provide such a gentler exfoliation unlike most harsh acids. It also doesn’t cause hyperpigmentation, which I’ve experienced in the past with acids. 🏹Let me know what’s helped you with repairing or protecting your moisture barrier! 🤍
Purchasing again, and again, and again......
When you find skincare that checks all your boxes - CLARISMA! In case you don’t know yet, enzymes are the next big thing. We’ve seen them here and there over the years but this line has fruit enzymes in all of its products. Yeeeeessss!! Why does this matter? Fruit enzymes gently exfoliate your skin clearing out pore clogs, built up dead skin, dry skin, hyperpigmentation, clears up acne, bumps under the skin, uneven texture, fine lines.... basically everything you don’t want, enzymes tackle. Why enzymes? Because they are gentle and we must be gentle with our skin!! Harsh acids that burn the skin and scrubs that are like sand paper is sooooo over. Gentle is best and it doesn’t mean not effective. Quite the opposite! Enzymes will perfect your skin. I’m 44 and this line has done more for my skin in mere months than acids and Retin A did over years. If I’m being honest, those probably did some damage. The best yet, this line is ridiculously affordable!! If you know of this line or you’ve used it, let me know!
Gentle foaming gel cleanser
My sister had this in her shower and I tried it. First impressions: -Clear gel, mildly scented. -I used about a dime sized and was able to wash my face throughly. -Not stripping! It cleaned well leaving no residue behind. It does have lemon and orange oil. So if you are sensitive to EO’s- do a patch test or skip all together. If you are looking for a second cleanser or a AM cleanser, try this one! It’s added to my Ulta cart now- it retails for $9.99 USD!

Exfoliation Is So EASY🙌🙌🙌
No two skin types are exactly the alike. Whether your skin type is dry, oily or sensitive, all of us have a single common goal of scoring clear skin that looks dewy and hydrated – and that to me, that never goes out of style. Skin cells can accumulate, leading to a build-up of dead skin cells on the skin’s surface day after day, causing the appearance of dull skin. Exfoliation is very crucial to me, to help remove dead skin cells off the skin surface, and to reveal a brighter and cleaner skin texture. With that, I have experimented with different types of skin exfoliation for my combination skin. Method 1: Face Scrub A cult classic and a favorite amongst beauty editors worldwide, Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub by St. Ives ST. Ives - Fresh Skin Apricot Scrubis a deep cleaning apricot scrub with 100% natural walnut shell powder to give soft, smooth, and glowing skin. Apricot Extract is an important antioxidant that combats the damage of pollution and free radicals. It is also an emollient, meaning it helps to soothe and softens skin. I have using this for years and it has never failed to soften my skin bumps and blackheads. To use: squeeze a dime sized amount of the scrub onto fingertips and massage onto damp skin. Spread in small circular motions with gentle pressure. Work all over, focusing on tough areas like the nose and chin. Rinse and pat dry with a clean towel. Use 3 to 4 times a week. I do this in the evening before I slather on a rich night cream formula to calm and hydrate my scrubbed skin. Be sure to use this gently on the skin as too much pressure can cause skin irritation and dryness. Method 2: Wash Cloth Scrub I sometimes use a cotton washcloth when cleansing to help remove dead skin cells and invigorate the live cells on your face. A gentle scrubbing with a soft washcloth once a day will help keep your skin smooth and clean. However, it is recommended to always use a clean washcloth every time to wash the face. Hanging a used washcloth up for use later can also be a bad idea since bacteria thrive in moist environments such as a wet washcloth. So, this may not be the best idea if you don’t have a stack of clean washcloths on hand. But if you would like to try washing your face with a cloth, use a soft material that is not rough or stiff to avoid skin irritatation. To use: apply cleanser with your hands to your face and massaging gently. Use a warm washcloth to gently rub the cleanser onto your skin for a gentle exfoliation and to remove any excess makeup on the face. Method 3: Natural Sugar Scrub For my third face scrub method, I wanted to try something that is natural, and which can be easily created with my pantry items. Sugar is not only for desserts, it is also an amazing beauty ingredient. A source of glycolic acid, sugar exfoliates and softens the skin as well as preventing it from drying and acts as a natural moisturiser. I use this super moisturizing sugar scrub recipe for my combination skin every weekend. It softens and sloughs dead skin cells off my pores, leaving my skin fresh, clean and bright for the new week. Recipe: Mix two tablespoons of brown sugar and one tablespoon of coconut oil. You can also also add half to one teaspoon of honey and one strawberry chopped to the mix, totally optional. To use: rub the facial sugar scrub on cleansed face in gentle circular motions, focusing on rough patches. Rinse with warm water. Use twice a week. Finish with a rich face serum and moisturizer after.

What fits into springtime more than the words fresh, rejuvenating, clean, and some healthy green vegetables!? 🌿 this YTTP cleanser is one of my favorite new cleansers 😍 this mini bottle is so photogenic too 😉 This cleanser has tons of healthy antioxidants in it that’s great for clearing out gunk from your pores. It gets rid of any makeup debris and grease and leaves my skin feeling really clean without over drying it. I LOVE when a cleanser is super effective yet not stripping my skin and making it dry. Definitely give this little guy a try!! The mini is so cheap at Sephora! YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser

A favorite of mine this week!
YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Yerba Mate Resurfacing Energy Facial I have really been enjoying this since I have received it! I would say if you have sensitive skin that it might freak you out. You put it on your face I usually put it on my damp face. You leave it on for 2-3 minutes and you can really feel the enzymes working. Once your time is up you gently scrub. I personally don’t enjoy physical scrubs but, it’s very gentle. You are left with glowing and smooth looking skin! It’s a little pricey but I absolutely love it. I’ve been using it once a week.

Best scrub y’all
I’ve been using the Acure brightening scrub for about a year now and it’s definitely become my favorite exfoliating scrub. I use it about 2-3 times a week. Since I don’t do makeup on the daily I will also use this scrub if I’m going to do a full face of makeup so I have nice smooth skin to work with! It’s worked wonders for me in softening and brightening my skin up and getting rid of all the dead skin as well. Another great thing about this scrub is that it cleanses without stripping away any natural moisture! It’s 100% vegan! Price point is amazing! Def give it a go ;) Another great product from Acure is the brightening cleansing gel. This cleanser is gentle enough that it can be used daily. I remember using this for the first time and saw an instant glow on my face. It’s also great for getting rid of all your makeup!

Tatcha “The Deep Cleanse” Exfoliating Cleanser
Tatcha’s “The Deep Cleanse” Exfoliating Cleanser is an incredible gentle daily exfoliant for those who prefer a bit of physical exfoliation. It is a gel formula containing natural fruit enzymes suspended throughout that exfoliate and lift impurities. It’s a great cleanser for those with clogged or enlarged pores, uneven texture or oiliness. My one gripe about this product is I don’t like the way the product dispenses out — you have to untwist the cap and then you just have the hole in the top of the product to squeeze cleanser out of. But that’s a small inconvenience I’m willing to put aside! I’ve been using this cleanser for about two months now, I received it courtesy of Cherie and was so excited as it was not necessarily a product I would have picked out for myself but turned out to be a product that my skin really loves. I like it because it’s an oil-free gel formula that lathers into a creamy foam to remove dirt and impurities from the skin without drying out the skin. Amino acids derived from silk make this a gentle exfoliator suitable for even sensitive skin types. It uses ground fibers from the Japanese luffa fruit to help turn over dead skin cells and purify clogged pores while also conditioning and smoothing the skin. Additionally, Japanese wild rose tightens the appearance of pores to produce a more even skin texture and Japanese leopard lily helps to minimize excess oil. I really like this cleanser and I think it’s suitable for all and stands as a safe physical exfoliator due to the ground particles that make it gentle enough for regular use. I also think that the price ($38 for 5oz) is pretty fair considering it is coming from a luxury brand that uses proprietary Japanese-sourced ingredients you don’t see in a ton of other formulas. Again, the bottle I have a bit of an issue with but as for the product itself, I’d give it a 5/5, perhaps would dock it down to a 4.5/5 due to being a bit of a pain to use… and I can imagine it will only get more frustrating to use as less product is left in the bottle. I’d recommend this to anyone who is looking for a gentle physical exfoliator/gentle cleanser who struggles with the size and appearance of their pores! I’d love to see a pump on this bottle to secure it’s rating as a 5/5, too!

3a - 4a Curly Hair Tips From Team Cherie Calling all curly girls! Team cherie shares some of their favorite ways to take care of their natural curls.Dec. 23, 2020
My Mental Wellness Improved Through My Self AcceptanceWhen I was around 13 or 14 years old, I remember routinely taking one of my older sister’s black eyeliner pencils before school every morning. I’d arrive early so that I could slip away to the girl’s bathroom to apply a single black line to my eyelids. My parents didn’t allow me to wear any makeup at the time. Although this smudgy line on my eyelids didn’t make me look all that much different, I never felt comfortable at school without it. My teenage mind convinced myself that I needed some sort of cosmetic symbol in order to appropriately express my femininity. Up until that point in my life, society had told girls that looked like me - tall, Black, and with kinky hair - that we somehow weren’t as beautiful as the other girls. For far too long, I believed it too.Feb. 17
