My skin has been in this condition (8/10) for about a month so I can back my routine with helping me. Less dryness, glowing skin, almost no breakouts. I have dry skin, but it is also very sensitive. TIPS TO LOOK DECENT IN PHOTO ID’s✨
If you clicked on this, you’re probably like me and care what you look like in your id photos. You have your license with you for quite a bit so it makes sense to want it to look good. Here are some tips I used to take my photo that left results that I’m not embarrassed to show others when needed. LESS IS NOT MORE You always hear how less is more and that’s usually the case when you’re not being photographed. In pictures, lots of the makeup can be lost through the lens if it’s not exaggerated. Think false lashes and over lined lips to stand out. STICK TO NEUTRALS Today is not the day to try out bright colors and glitters. (Choose shades that compliment your natural skin tone. It is important to match your foundation and avoid using black shadow/ liners.) With bright colors you run the risk of becoming washed out with a color that does not suit you and glitter can create unwanted flashback mistakes, which takes me to my next point. BE PICKY WITH YOUR SETTING POWDER Nobody likes taking a picture and seeing that washed out white-cast all over their face from setting powder. To avoid this, simply stick to fine translucent powders such as the laura mercier - Translucent Loose Setting Powder . Powders that advertise ‘HD’ tend to create a flashback when photographed. CONTOUR/HIGHLIGHTING IS YOUR NEW BFF Remember those crazy contouring looks from 5 years ago? With photographing ID’s, those skills may come in handy. A photo is 2D so we want to bring more to the photo with these illusions. Choose a highlighter shade up to 2-3 shades lighter than your skin tone and highlight the tops of the cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, inner corner of the eye, and brow bone. With contouring, chose a neutral shade up to 3-4 shade darker than your skin tone and apply to the hollows of your cheeks, temples of the forehead, down the side of the nose, and finally the jawline. I recommend NARS - Radiant Creamy Concealer for highlighting and KKW BEAUTY - Crème Contour & Highlight Sets for contouring.

Skincare Mistakes You're Probably Making TOO
I know exactly how desperate it can be to want to have clear skin. Throughout the years I have tried a lot of products, different methods, and gathered some bad habits along the way. You know, sometimes we’re just doing more damage than care. For years, I couldn’t really tell what my skin type was because I treated my skin without much care. The reason our skin is not at its best may be because the skincare products we use are not suited for our unique needs. Once you figure out your skin type then you will be able to choose and use the best products and get that glass skin we all aspire to. Know your skin type is important. Okay, so without further ado here are some of the mistakes you may be making with your skincare. ❌MISTAKE 1: SLEEPING WITH MAKEUP ON❌ This is one of the very worst things you can do to your skin. Not properly cleansing your skin will lead to acne or pimples popping up or even irritation or infections on your skin in the long run. Because when makeup blocks your pores, they appear and can lead to inflammation and clogged pores. So please wash off your makeup every night and not with makeup wipes, you need to wash it off makeup wipes can irritate your skin in the long run and even give you wrinkles! Sure makeup wipes may be helpful on the days you are exhausted but they are not enough to cleanse your skin properly. ❌MISTAKE 2: OVER EXFOLIATING YOUR SKIN❌ We all know the benefits of exfoliation and after cleansing, it is the most important step. Like everything, too much can be damaging to your skin because exfoliation removes the top layer of dead skin cells to expose your new skin which is very delicate and sensitive. But doing this over and over again to that delicate skin, it can damage that layer of skin causing pigmentation as well as destroy your skin’s natural moisture barrier AKA the acid mantle. So with exfoliation, less is more, if you use a physical exfoliates use It once a week and for goodness sake stay away from Apricot scrub or any scrub which has large particles. They can cause micro-tears and age your skin by causing wrinkles For chemical exfoliations like acid toners 2-3 time a week is more than enough. ❌MISTAKE 3: USING EVERYTHING ALL AT ONCE❌ Skincare is only complicated when you choose to make it complicated. At one point I was using 10 steps skincare routine everyday single day. When I realised my skin started to be more clogged, desperate me was to figure out what MORE can I apply to help with my clogged pores. Sometimes less is more. Take time to observe your skin and sometimes this means going back to basics. Right now, I’m quite comfortable just using cleanser + sunscreen during the day and cleanser + serum + moisturizer at night. You don’t need to exfoliate every day and you don’t need to mask every day. So tell me what is your worst skincare mistake? Tell me in the comments below so we can feel guilty together.
AHA vs BHA
Alpha Hydroxy Acid is defined as a group of plant and animal derived acids used in a variety of skincare products. AHA products are preferably used for dry skin, have the ability to exfoliate the skin, and to improve moisturize content for extra smoothness. The two most commonly used AHAs in skincare are glycolic acid (derived from sugar cane) and Lactic acid (derived from lactose or other carbohydrates). AHAs primary function is exfoliation. AHAs can also help with the promotion of collagen and blood flow, correcting discoloration of scars and age spots, improve appearance of surface lines and wrinkles, prevent acne breakouts, and brighten your complexion. How often can you use AHAs? This specific questions solely depends on your skin type and which AHA you are using. If you are using glycolic acid on dry, sun damaged skin, it is best to use it every other night. If you are using Lactic acid, it is best to use it once or twice a week at night (sensitive skin). Other skin types have the option to use lactic acid more often. Beta-hydroxy acid is primarily derived from one source: salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is a key ingredient to help exfoliate the skin to remove dead skin cells. Salicylic acid can also help clear blackheads and whiteheads by unclogging pores. BHAs are preferred for oily skin with congested pores, the ability to relieve clogged pores and white bumps, and skin calming and hydrating affects. BHAs also have anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Salicylic acid can be used everyday either morning or night. It can be applied on oily, acne prone skin. If you are experiencing a breakout, you may find yourself using this acid both day and night while doing your routine. AHAs and BHAs actually have some shared benefits. These benefits are decreasing inflammation, decreasing the appearance of large pores and and surface wrinkles, evening out your skin tone, improving overall skin texture, removing dead skin cells, and unclogging pores to prevent acne. With benefits also comes differences with these products. One con of BHAs is there is only one of the in comparison to the many AHAs. AHAs are more geared toward age-related skin concerns. It is argued that BHAs might be the best for sensitive skin and acne prone skin. The big take away is how can you incorporate/combine these products? The main thing is that you do not want to layer and AHA on top of a BHA or vise versa. The main way to use these products is by alternating the use. You can use one product during your morning routine and the other product at night. A super cool thing about these products is that you can apply you AHA to any dry areas of your face and then apply you BHA to the oily parts of your skin. This is a great option for combination skin. You would be getting the benefits of both products without layering then and causing harm.
THIS DERMATOLOGISTS FAVORITE NEW CLEANSER
Cleansers are an essential step in everyone’s skincare routine, but it can be difficult to find the right one for your skin. The new Aveeno Calm + Restore nourishing oat cleanser has been my new go-to daily cleanser and I love it. ❤️🙌 Aveeno has always been a brand to create formulations that target dry and sensitive skin and this cleanser is no different. This cleanser is great for people all skin types but would likely benefit dry or combination skin most. The incorporated oat complex helps restore build the skin’s moisture barrier and soothe itchy skin. There is no stripping effect with this cleanser, which is something too always look for with your cleanser. Other pros about this product are its fragrance free (limiting any irritant reactions) as well as great pricing. On amazon, you can find a bottle for under $10.‼️‼️ TRUTH: If you are trying to fight acne or blackheads I recommend against this cleanser and try finding something with salicylic acid. ☀️ AM ☀️ 1️⃣ Cleanser : 🔑Start your hydrating skin-care routine off right with this any Face wash. It’s a non-foaming, gentle cleanser packed with ingredients like glycerin and orange oil. It’s a great option for anyone with dry and sensitive skin. 2️⃣Toner : 🔑 You should use your toner only and only after you have thoroughly cleansed your skin. Take 2-3 drops of a toner on a cotton pad and wipe it on your face. Make sure that the cotton pad does not absorb too much of the liquid and is able to transfer it to your skin. 3️⃣Antioxident Serum : 🔑 Using an antioxidant serum every morning can protect your skin from the environmental attack and slow down the process of aging. My AVÈNE collection! Must-buy and Black-list
There was a period of time where my skin went through serious allergies. Redness on both of my cheeks and my t-zone was dotted with pimples and acne. I was suggested with the brand AVÈNE by the dermatologist because of its excellent reputation for sensitive skin. Some products are my lifesavers and really help me get through a tough time. But not all of them are suitable for me. The recommend👑: Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream： Avène - Cicalfate Restorative Skin Cream This is the first product I tried from AVÈNE and is also the reason why I stick with the brand afterward. This product is dedicated to quick repair of skin problems caused by irritations. The texture is relatively thick and oily, and need some time to be fully absorbed. However, the effect is unbelievably dramatic!! Most of my redness and pimples had vanished. Sticking to it for weeks, my skin became much stronger and the infection was cleared. Skin Recovery Cream: Avène - Skin Recovery Cream My second face cream from AVÈNE, and it didn't disappoint me! Like the Restorative cream, the formula is aimed at skin recovery and protects the skin from external damage. There's another rich version but I bought the light one. Compared to the Cicalfate Cream, this one has a more lightweight texture and is easier to be blended out, not sticky at all. I only use Restorative Skin Cream for the night because it requires time for absorption. While for the Recovery Cream, feel free to use it as either day cream or night cream! The “Meh” 🙅: Thermal Spring Water Spray: Avène - Thermal Spring Water Spray Everyone knows this is the best seller of AVÈNE! However, I didn’t like it that much. It’s promoted as sensitive and dry skin friendly, yes it is. But to some extent, I feel like it has no difference from water, and the ingredient table proves me right…. Although it is not expensive, I think a spray bottle does not worth its value. I felt no improvement in skin condition, leave along expecting it for moisturizing. I will never purchase it again. Gentle Toner: The product is promoted with soothing and anti-irritant properties, and the ingredient is rich with the so-called “Thermal Spring Water”. I mean… let's stop playing a word game, it's just water. I was not satisfied with its effects, and I dislike it in addition to its texture, which is a mix of liquid and oil. Too oily to use in summer or use with other products for the following skincare routine (unless your skin is very, very dry) Deep Moist Lotion: Similar to the Gentle Toner, the “Thermal Spring Water” is its main ingredient. It is a translucent lotion and is very diluted, not nourishing enough for me. It was okay just after you apply it, but then the moisture seems to go away quickly. The toner is too thick, and the lotion is too lightweight, lack of competence to lock the moisture for skin.
