Ideal SPF for Dry Skin🌞
The struggle for the right SPF is so real 😩. Up until now, every sunscreen I have tried has left me with a horrible white cast and it was not cute. I bought this product on impulse and I loveee it!! I know a lot of us avoid using SPF because either we forget or cause of the white cast issue. However, this product goes on so smoothly and leaves no residue. Although, I didn't read the packaging and didn't realize how watery this product actually is (I mean it says fluid so clearly I actually can't read😂). Despite that, this product is a great SPF for dry skin like mine. This product claims to effectively provide UVA/UVB protection while hydrating your skin. It's been great for my dry skin! What works for me may not work for you, and vice versa! Always do your research before trying new products! 💕

The most elegant & heavy-duty sunscreen yet!
If you frequent any Asian Beauty subs you know you’ve heard of this sunscreen! TheKanebo - ALLIE Extra UV Gel Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++ is touted as a holy grail for many in the sunscreen community. But is it worth the $25-$35 dollars it retails for? PROS Water-proof! It will stay put when swimming and won’t wash off without some serious effort. It creates almost a film-like barrier that you can feel on your skin when you first put it on but disappears after a few minutes of wear and I suspect this film is what makes it so good at protecting you from the elements. Sweat-proof! I actually put on this sunscreen when hiking. It’s pretty sweat-proof though I wouldn’t be able to tell you for how long since I always reapply after 2 hours. Resistant to friction! You know the feeling when you just put on your sunscreen and now you have to take off your t-shirt or put on a hat and your sunscreen comes off when it touches your face? No more! As long as the sunscreen is dry, it won’t come off! CONS If you have deep skin of color, you should consider skipping this. I wear foundation shade MUFE Y405, for reference and the white cast is visible on me. You have to double cleanse really well in order to take off the sunscreen before bed. This sunscreen is a workhorse and not easily broken down. If you have skin that will be easily irritated by too much cleansing, or haven’t found the right cleansing products for you, consider skipping this sunscreen. When rubbing in, you must work quickly and in thin layers. Additionally you have to let the layers dry completely between applications. The friction-proof qualities of this product make it so that if you accidentally let a big glop dry it will dry thick and white and will be difficult to spread out. Make-up can be difficult to spread on top, depending on the formula. For example, my wax RCMA foundation is easy to apply on top of this. But my sticky cream blush is not and will apply streaky. 💰💰💰. At $30ish for 40g you are not getting a lot of bang for your buck. Summary If you have a deep skin tone, definitely don’t get this unless you are willing to put up with the white cast. And honestly, as excellent as it is, I would really only recommend it for outdoor activities or when you need something heavy-duty due to the steep price point. Kanebo-ALLIE Extra UV Gel Sunscreen SPF50+ PA++++
Have you ever tried a sunscreen and primer in 1?! 😁 I was blown away at how soft and smooth this clear sunscreen from Supergoop! feels on my face! Had never tried anything like it and I'm in love 😍 The name fits the product perfectly, called the Unseen Sunscreen with SPF 40 PA+++. As a clear gel, it leaves absolutely no white cast and gets absorbed immediately in my skin, acting like a great primer similar in feel to the Benefit Porefessional one in my experience. But with SPF! It creates a super smooth and soft canvas that minimizes texture for makeup application 👌 It's oil-free and although marketed as scentless, I do smell a fairly strong typical sunscreen smell, if that makes sense. It's fresh, lemony? and pleasant tho. Although I haven't seen much effects on pore-minimizing, I love the texture and how absolutely weightless it feels on my face, added to the high SPF level. It has honestly become my new favorite sunscreen for makeup days and on-the-go, for a quick and easy, mirrorless application! 💕 Would totally recommend and repurchase especially if on sale.

Its getting hot in here! So wear your sunscreen☀
I hate to admit it but the only time I would wear sunscreen is when it was in my foundation, my face lotion, or when my mom would slather it on me as a kid. Mid-late last year I got roasted for not wearing sunscreen, now I’ve become a SPF advocate as well. This is the first sunscreen I have ever faithfully applied daily and it is the Supergoop! - Everyday Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50 PA ++++ The application is smooth and a little goes a long way (as you can see I put on way too much in the video). The smell is very light and doesn’t reek of the typical ‘sunscreen’ scent. The best part is that this sunscreen melts into my skin and gives me a dewy finish. This can also double as a makeup primer, as you should be wearing sunscreen underneath your makeup anyways! Overall, I am a fan of supergoops’s sunscreen and I appreciate that it doesn’t leave a white residue on my skin.

My SPF collection - 2 Faves and a Fail
I admit to not being diligent with SPF until 2019. Even then, at my best I would apply maybe 4-5 days per week. SPF is very, very important! I’m happy to report in 2020 I have applied every single day. I currently have 3 facial SPFs (all cruelty-free) in my collection. Keep reading for my thoughts on them! Supergoop! - Unseen Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 40 is a cult favorite for a reason. It’s a chemical sunscreen that is oil-free, unscented, reef-safe, and vegan. It has a silicone-y texture that feels light on my skin, and doubles as a great primer for makeup on a busy morning. It protects my face well. It is SPF 40 and contains meadow foam seed (helps add a bit of hydration), red algae (blue light protection), and frankincense (soothing). This SPF is good for all skin types. It retails for $34 (worth it!) and can be found at multiple beauty retailers such as Sephora. PURITO - Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ is also a chemical SPF. It offers SPF 50 and is essential oil-free. PURITO also offers this SPF with essential oils, if you prefer. Personally I prefer unscented when possible because there’s less chance for skin irritation. This creamy SPF blends nicely into my skin, feels moisturizing, protects well, and does not cause any breakouts. Ingredient highlights include niacinamide and centella asciatica (cica) to protect your skin barrier and calm redness. This one is my favorite because of its moisturizing properties on my dry skin. Dry and normal skin would like this a lot. I’d caution oily skin friends in warmer climates, as it could possibly feel heavy. PURITO offers a few different SPFs, though. It is available from various beauty retailers and on Amazon, pretty much always for under $20! BARE REPUBLIC - Mineral Face Sunscreen Gel Lotion SPF 30 is my least favorite of the bunch. This is a mineral SPF with a gel-lotion texture. It offers SPF 30 and its main ingredient is zinc oxide. It has a creamy, slightly blue-tinted texture that smells...a bit off to me. It does contain cucumber, which I usually like, but the scent just doesn’t appeal to me. I find it to be difficult to blend into my face without leaving white streaks behind. I also feel that this product dries out my skin, despite it also containing Shea butter. It tends to pill on top of certain moisturizers (like gels, oddly), which can make applying it even more unappealing. It does at least protect my face, hence 2 stars. I received this item complimentary through Influenster, and would not recommend it or repurchase. I’m not even sure I’ll finish the tube... It retails for $16.99 and is available at various beauty retailers (like Target) and drugstores.
