Finally Understanding My Skin
For the most part, I have pretty decent skin. My friends have always told me how nice my skin was and the ones who used makeup on me even said I don’t really need foundation just conceal a few spots and I was done. That being said, I’ve still struggled with acne and even gave myself bangs to cover my forehead acne. I know it sounds weird. Like how could I have good skin if I still struggle with acne? But it’s really only in a few places and I notice them a lot throughout the day. Since I had acne I figured my face was oily and I really wanted to get the oils off and would buy a face exfoliating wash and wash my face with it everyday. This dried out my skin really fast, especially along my jawline/mouth area. I would then not wash my face for like a few weeks and once my skin barrier was repaired I was start up again. The cycle would continue until I was done with the product. What my skin told me: Exfoliating my face was a good step in the right direction but exfoliating everyday? No no no no! No wonder my skin was constantly drying out. This actually happened with a lot of my face washes so I figured I really just needed a gentle cleanser. bitterquillI also have combo skin, and I use these two every morning and LOVE them. Since winter hit, though, I was also noticing a little dryness and decided to try out the new Cream-to-Foam Cleanser before bed. It's part of the hydrating line from the same brand but different from their regular Hydrating Cleanser. It's SUCH a nice addition and complements these two products really well.

My skincare journey
The 1st 2 photos were from summer of 2020 & the 3rd photo was taken today. I’ve come such a long way with my skincare journey and I am honestly so proud of myself. The pandemic has been so tough for everyone especially on their mental health. I am usually very quiet about my mental health issues but I had to speak up about it and how it affected everything in my life. Staying cooped up at home every day took a toll on my mental health all together & it hit an all time low when I was sexually assaulted last yr in May. I let myself go and lost control of everything such as my sleep, skincare, diet & social life. It got to a point where I started losing clumps of my hair in the shower & I want everyone out there to know that it gets better. Im nowhere close to feeling my best but looking back, I’ve made such a huge difference. My skin got so bad to a point where I hated seeing people and applying makeup just made it worse and cakey. I researched a bunch of products & used everything on my face at the same time which caused my skin to react poorly and flare up. It was red & covered in pimples & whiteheads. At this point I believed that, okay I do not feel beautiful and compared myself to every other woman. Its so important to know that a few pimples or marks doesn’t make you any less beautiful. Everyone’s journey is so different and patience and time can fix it. I can explain and link the products I used, Retinol THE inkey LIST - Retinol Serum So I initially used this every single night along with Niacinamide and oh man, I wish I hadn’t. I didn’t know that you were supposed to build tolerance to it. So I started using it once a week & then slowly switched to using it every other day. My skin actually started feeling a bit better. Niacinamide The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% So I read a couple of articles about WOC talking about how this product didn’t exactly suit their skin & once I started using it I noticed it never really made any difference to my skin & found it to sting a little. I still want to give it a chance so I use a tiny bit & I noticed there’s no stinging. So I might’ve been using too much for it to do that. Facial cleanser CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin I switched from cetaphil to CeraVe and I am so happy that I did. Whats weird is this cleanser made me realize that I don’t have oily skin (I’m not sure how this happened but if anyone knows, please help me out here) Moisturizer LANEIGE - Water Bank Moisture Cream Okay so I know a lot of people might not be too happy with this product since it contains fragrance but after trying so many different types of moisturizers, this is the only one that really made a difference on my skin 🥺 I am not trying to get you to buy these products. These are just things that worked for me and it took a lot of time. Listen to your skin & do what works best for you. You are so so beautiful 💕
I love this!
Alright guys! This is my guilty pleasure! I originally started this to start keeping progress of my skin mean while to help those who need it and to let those who are struggling with their skin know they are not alone! Start a blog and you will realize what works and what does not! Keep it simple and don’t add to many products at once! It started off small and I would have never thought id build my confidence this much! My skin has seen such a huge impact from consistency and a little trial and error here and there. I have incorporated a new exfoliating wash every other day and have used it twice so far and let me say... I can definitely feel and see a difference in those congested zones. The deep white heads have turned into little black heads meaning they have broken the surface and are ready to be pulled out! My face skin has gained all of the softness and integrity it was missing and you can definitely tell by that glow. If you have not gotten a facial and you are struggling with acne I 100 percent recommend it! Go see a professional and ask honest questions, be transparent as to what you have tried and let them guide you! I always personally thought when ever id go see a esthetician that they were just trying to make a quick buck and try to sell you all of these products without knowing if it would work. Tip get a daily regimen down and steady with trusted products such as Cera Ve. Give your skin the time to balance out and once the big stuff is gone ask a professional how to deal with the little stuff and trust their guidance. After all they are professionals! Saved My Skin? Cerave SA Cleanser one week later
So I bought the CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin One a week ago and decided to use it every morning and night for one week in replace of my regular cleanser. And I’m definitely happy with the results. It CLEARED my skin up a lot and made my pores less noticeable. My skin feels a lot smoother and looks a lot cleaner and clearer in person. I would definitely recommend this cleanser to any one with acne or pimples. Even if you just don’t have the smoothest skin or have noticeable pores. This cleanser is the cheapest at Walmart so I definitely think you should purchase from their.

Which is best for COMBO skin?
Of course this is my own experience but I thought I would share my findings about these two products! I first purchased the Cetaphil Oil cleanser a while back and I absolutely loved. It didn’t strip my skin and the light lather was something I really enjoyed. The scent is light and it’s affordable, so everything was great. After a while I started watching different videos and reading reviews for the CeraVe Dry cleanser. I was intrigued. I knew that a lot of my acne was due to a lack of hydration, so I thought that switching cleansers could help with my acne. Also, I just wanted to experiment, the plight of a combo skin gal... I used the CeraVe for a few weeks and I personally just didn’t vibe with it as much as the Cetaphil. The scent was also light so I liked that, but there was no lather! I didn’t know how important lather was to me until I didn’t have it. My skin didn’t look or feel as clean when I used this product. Plus, it is significantly more expensive than the Cetaphil for some reason I’m my area. My conclusion: Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser is still the G.O.A.T, I love it. Cetaphil - Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser
Cetaphil-Cetaphil Oily Skin Cleanser
I’m trying to take better care of my skin. I had been using a Neutrogena anti acne cleanser, but it had a lot of chemicals and honestly it gas fine, but nothing to write home about. So, after seeing that lots of people liked this CeraVe cleanser and it helped with their acne, I decided to give it a whirl. ✨ The Formula: first, I didn’t expect so much to come out when I pumped the handle. I think I used too much. Second, it is a lot thicker than I expected! When I think of foaming cleansers I think light and airy, not a thick gel. But at the same time it felt sort of luxurious because it was so thick. ✨ The result: first, as I stated before I think I used too much. Once it started bubbling up I was worried it was going to get in my eyes even though I had them closed. (Is that a normal fear? Idk.) then, I washed it off with water. I thought I was diligent but when I opened my eyes there was still some white streaks on my jaw line and cheek. I rinsed again. My face was starting to feel a bit itchy around the large pimple on my chin. I chalked it up to being my skin reacting to a new face wash. I proceeded with my routine and put on my doctor prescribed spot treatment and used my moisturizer. ✨conclusion: not terrible. It’s been 10-15 minutes and my face feels a little bit dry, possibly a little itchy in the cheeks. I have had worse. But for a product that says it won’t strip oils...hm. It feels as though there is still a slight residue, or that my oils have been stripped and it’s a little dry. I am going to keep using this product, but I am going to pay very close attention to if my skin gets dry patches or starts to peel, or if it continues to make my skin feel itchy. I know my skin needs to get used to the new cleanser, so results on the acne may take a while. We shall see what happens. In all, not bad, make sure you don’t use too much, and use moisturizer after.
Hydrating Cleanser for Sensitive Skin
Please try this if you get dried out by acne products! I started using this to combat salicylic acid from stripping my skin and now I can’t live without it. 💦Hydrating Cleanser CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser doesn’t have any harsh chemicals or alcohol ingredients. It’s formulated with hyaluronic acid which is amazing for locking in moisture. I love love love to use this after a cleanser that targets acne to make sure my skin doesn’t lose too much moisture. 🙌🏻 Pros 🙌🏻 Locks in and adds moisture. Extremely gentle and lotion like formula. No silly added ingredients. Great for all times of the year! Especially helpful in the winter. Non-irritating. Affordable and readily available! 🤚🏻 Cons 🤚🏻 The only con I have is that I wouldn’t use this as a cleanser by itself because I like to double cleanse just to make sure I’m really clean! If you wear makeup I would recommend a cleansing oil or balm before using this. 💕

Cerave - YES or NO?
Hey babes!! 👋🏼 Everyone loves using Cerave and says it’s so great, but do you know why? It’s a fan favorite, but you’ll see many Estheticians feel differently. Let’s dive in to learn more about brand/product. 👀 INGREDIENTS: Purified Water, Glycerin, Behentrimonium Methosulfate and Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceramide 3, Ceramide 6-11, Ceramide 1, Hyaluronic Acid, Cholesterol, Polyoxyl 40 Stearate, Glyceryl Monostearate, Stearyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 20, Potassium Phosphate, Dipotassium Phosphate, Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate, Cetyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Phytosphingosine, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Carbomer, Xanthan Gum. Glycerin - used in many skin care products as a humectant to bring moisture to the skin and also used an occlusive product in moisturizer to trap in hydration from escaping. Cetearyl Alcohol - despite having the name alcohol, it’s a fatty Alcohol which is good for the skin by softening it and it also thickens products. Ceramide 1,3, 6-11 - Ceramides are great for dry skin! They are lipids (fat) that help strengthen the skins barrier and protect from the environment. Hyaluronic Acid - another humectant that draws moisture to the skin 1000x better than water. CONCLUSION: Cerave has many good ingredients for basic skin care needs if you’re on a budget or need to repair your barrier. This is why many dermatologists recommended this product. It’s very basic. Most of their ingredients are functional and not performance based. This means that it’ll do the job of cleaning your skin, but won’t clear your acne or brighten your skin without any actives like salicylic or lactic acid. If you’re tight on a budget and just need a cleanser, this is better than others out there. I like to say that cerave is like washing your hands with just water and no soap. They will get clean, but you get better results with soap added. Xoxo, Blyssey #cheriecreator #skincare #cerave CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser
