Stubborn orange/yellow tones?!
So there’s only so much a purple shampoo can do right.. I’m naturally red underneath the blonde constantly trying to find ways around these orange and yellow tones I naturally have coming through my fresh blonde. Have got every purple shampoo/been through under the sun and they do work for the ends and to lighten the already blonde pieces however not for the harsh orange steaks that seem to love coming back Nordic blonde cancels out those orange tones and leaves your hair ash white again Leave on for 2-3 minutes or depending on how the desired look you want 5 maximum. Momma Knows Best 😊
My mom is very forgiving. She knows I stay busy, and she’ll let her hair go WAY TOO LONG before she mentions needing a touch up. This particular instance, we’d gone three whole months without color, and the before picture is not what I ideally like to deal with. We always do a double process with her, alternating between hi- and low-lights. Formulas: Highlight - 45g BlondMe 9+ + 67.5g BlondMe 20 volume developer (Schwarzkopf) Lowlight 1: 30g 7N + 15g 7B + 15g 7NB + 9 Volume developer (Kenra Color) Lowlight 2: 25g Naked 8 + 25g 9 volume developer (Guy Tang MyDentity) Toner: 0.5oz 9,5-1 + 0.5oz 9,5-21 + 1oz 6 volume gel activator (Schwarzkopf Vibrance)
Turn Up the Tone! 📼💙
I was super excited when Amika gifted me their new Mixtape Color Boosting Drops - I received mine in the shade Teal as I have medium-to-dark brown hair. I love Amika hair products for a lot of different reasons, but one of the top reasons being that they offer such innovative, quality products at a reasonable price point. These highly pigmented drops are formulated to boost color & vibrancy, regardless of hair type or texture. These color boosting drops are also suitable for those with natural or color treated hair. Amika offers two other shades - Violet for blondes & Gold for those who are looking to add warmth. Application is easy peasy - and that statement is coming from someone who can’t even do a braid properly, LOL! Inside the component box that this product comes in is a Dosage Chart that is extremely straightforward and easy to follow; it will suggest how many drops to use based on how much color / vibrancy you’re looking for. For example - I have relatively dark brown hair, and I wanted a more noticeable result, so I would use 7-8 drops. You can mix the drops with any cream or oil based product; and it can be either a leave in or rinse out product. In my experience - I have been mixing the drops with my Amika Vault Color-Lock Shampoo. I’ve also been using the Amika Fadeblock product, which is a pre-shampoo treatment to help seal and protect color from washing out. All in all, I think this is a great hair color toning product - perfect for anyone who is comfortable with DIY hair experiences. These color boosting drops are available now at Sephora for $25! amika: - Mixtape Hair Color Drops

Dry Shampoo Formulas - what’s best?!
I am a big dry shampoo fan and have been for years now but only within the last couple of years have I looked into the ingredients and formulation a little more and I was shocked at what I found. Most dry shampoos on the market list propane, butane, or isobutane within their first 3 ingredients...does anyone else find that insane?! Now, most aerosol sprays contain the same ingredients (hair sprays, texture sprays, etc) so keep that in mind. That being said, once I discovered that I was completely turned off by aerosol sprays in general but being an avid dry shampoo lover, I needed to find an alternative. So here’s what I’ve been using👇🏻 • Tiber River Dust a Do - this powder formula is Canadian made with only a few simple ingredients and I find that it works super well. It has a very light, fresh scent and with the addition of peppermint in the formula it has a slight cooling effect on the scalp. When using this one, I section my hair as I go and tap some of the product in then let it sit for a few minutes before massaging it in. This formula does a good job at absorbing oil but does not give the volume boost that is typical of traditional dry shampoos. But overall I love this stuff and have purchased it multiple times. • kaia naturals - Overnight Dry Shampoo this one uses “wing life technology” to propel the product up and out into your hair. So it does “pump” the product into your hair unlike the Tiber River one BUT it is quite messy (especially for beginners). This one is supposed to be dispersed into the hair at night and slept on in order for it to fully absorb oils and boost the hair. I do really like this formula and the fact that it has a pump without the yucky ingredients; the one thing I don’t love about this one is that it’s soooo strongly scented. • ogx - Kandee Pop Glam Mermaid Dust Dry Shampoo okay so this one does list the yucky ingredients right off the hop just like most other aerosol dry shampoos. I fell victim to marketing and pretty packaging with this one (and love Kandee Johnson who it’s a collab with) so I had to pick it up. I’ve actually gone through one of these and already purchased another one because despite the yucky ingredients - I truly do miss the traditional dry shampoo formula + dispenser. I try not to use this one as my daily dry shampoo but just for the occasional volume boost and it’s really good for that. I also loooove the smell, it smells like candy but not in an overpowering way! Overall, I would definitely suggest switching to a non-aerosol formula when it comes to your everyday dry shampoo because who wants to be spraying propane and butane onto their hair and scalp on a regular basis?! Do I think it’s okay to use aerosol sprays occasionally - yes. It’s really a personal choice and what you feel comfortable with for your body, my point here was just to showcase the different types of dry shampoo and their ingredients. Thanks for reading🤗

Toning at Home? 🙋🏼♀️
I have thin hair that is bleached blonde and fairly dry because of it. One issue I have is now maintaining the brass look of it now that I’ve been bleaching it myself during the pandemic. 💜This is the new Mixtape Violet Toning Drops by Amika. The goal of this one is to tone platinum + pale blondes (natural or enhanced) of all hair types. ✨How to use: This product comes with a dosage chart for recommended dosage for your hair color and type. They have multiple options for different hair colors too! 💜Products & Tools Needed: 1. Mixtape Drops by Amika 2. Supernova Blonde Violet Moisture and Shine Cream by Amika 3. A mixing bowl and mixing tool or just hands! 💕Step By Step💕 1. Screw off the lid and push the button to dispense product. 2. Look at dosage chart for your hair color and type. 3. Add recommended amount to a wash out product or oil-based leave in product. 4. Rinse if needed or leave in if leave in product 5. You are done! 💜To get the product out, you simply push the button and it comes out at the end. It reminds me of a certain candy packaging from my childhood for some reason. I use about 1-2 pumps with a leave-in product. It’s a thicker dark purple and I mix it together beforehand with just my hands and add it into my hair, focusing especially on areas that need help. Tips: ✨Start with the lowest dosage. The more drops you have, the more of a color deposit you’re getting. ✨In shampoos/conditioners/masks, leave-in for 1-3 minutes then rinse. In styling product, use at least 5g of your desired styling product per recommended pumps. Wash your hands after using. 💜I was really impressed after using this because I noticed big results in a problem area the next day. I’m going to keep using to see but the high pigment of the product and the ability to leave it in definitely packs a punch! #CheriePartner *pr gifted with no obligation to post here amika: - Mixtape Hair Color Drops

✨ Quick 5 Min Curls ✨
I’m usually in a rush in the mornings and skip doing my hair lol. I’ve seen this easy hack everywhere and have been loving it!!! I feel so put together and like a boss whenever I do my hair lol makes me feel like I can accomplish anything! It literally is the quickest way to get curls in your hair! . 1) Put your hair in a ponytail in the middle of your head. invisibobble - The Traceless Hair Ring Original Crystal Clear has the perfect grip and never gets caught in my hair or pulls any hair out! It is so painless and if I’ve styled my hair and use this to put it up in a ponytail, it doesn’t make a crease! They do get loose after a little bit, so I have a few that I switch around and use one a day, then use another one another day, and so on so that each one can go back to its original shape. I’ve also tried heating up water in the microwave in a coffee mug and then drop these in there and they go back to their original shape! 2) Take a small section of the ponytail and wrap it around the curling wand. Repeat until you’ve done your entire ponytail. CONAIR - InfinitiPro by Tourmaline Ceramic Curling Wand is a great curling wand! Picked this up at Walgreens on sale whenever I was in high school years ago and it still works amazing! It’s really easy to use, heats up in ~30 seconds, the curls last for a couple days, and has lasted a long time! It’s normally only like $30 so it’s rather budget friendly for a heating tool and works so well! 3) Take the ponytail out (this is what mine looked like immediately after removing the ponytail). Some pieces in the front or underside might need a separate curl, I curled the two front pieces. 4) Use a leave-in conditioner or styling cream to make sure the style lasts all day and doesn’t fall. You might want to use hairspray if you really want it to last! I make sure to really work the product through my hair and it gives me some volume. ALTERNA - CAVIAR Anti-Aging Replenishing Moisture CC Cream is a good leave in cream, but it’s just the one I have open currently. It isn’t something I’d go out and purchase because it’s rather expensive. There are other cheaper alternatives that are just as good, if not better performing than this. But it does work well on wet and dry hair, prevents frizz, smells nice, and locks in the style. . #CheriePartner

Toned Onto Color (part two)
Remember that long, thick virgin hair that I toned to a more ashy cool blonde? After that day, she was DYEING (lol) to get back in the chair and go brighter! This time I got a friend to help me recreate Guy Tang’s “Stardust” technique. In this technique, which I’ll link at the end, Guy splits the hair down the middle and carves out zig zag sections on each side, clipping them up until he reaches the bottom hairline. Once there he paints on his lightener, making sure to only hit one side of the of the “valley” created by the zig zag weave. Trust me when I say a visual of this is much easier to understand. Once we’d gotten through her entire head and let her process for roughly an hour (open air typically takes longer to process than foils) we brought her back to the shampoo bowl and toned her to a shiny cool blonde! Formulas: Lightener - 40g Stroke7 + 40g Big9 + 240g 40 volume Thicc Activator (MyDentity) Toner - 2oz 9V +0.5oz 9P + 0.5oz 9T + 3oz Processing Liquid (Shades EQ) Video: https://youtu.be/Zo-XaMiBw-s
