💤First Impressions: Brooklinen Mulberry Silk 🐛
Growing up a lot of my friends used silk wraps & bonnets to protect their natural hair or wigs. I’m familiar with silk from my work in fashion, but basically only knew that it’s expensive & difficult to work with. 🛏 Silk pillowcases showed up on my radar again last year after one of my friends who frequently colors her hair passed along the recommendation from her stylist brother. I tried a satin wrap she gave me for a while, but I still tossed & turned so much, it would always slip off & get lost somewhere behind my bed every night. Silk or satin can help prevent breakage & moisture loss as well as extend the lifespan of your blowout or style. 🐛The benefits are actually just as good for skin as they are for hair. SKIN BENEFITS: • 18 amino acids, the same 18 your skin has & a with a similar protein structure • Naturally non-absorbent to prevent moisture loss • Texture also helps prevent fine lines & wrinkles • Hypoallergenic, doesn’t attract dust mites & is a natural fungal repellent. This can help symptoms of many things including ACNE, allergies & eczema • Dense fabric structure repels dust & bacteria to protect your pillow from accumulating dust mites as well • Regulates body temp HAIR BENEFITS: Inherently smoother than other fabrics & natural moisture loss prevention, it keeps your hair shiny, less tangled, with less breakage or hair loss. What’s wrong with cotton? Cotton is a wonderful & versatile fabric, why it’s used a lot in daily life. Most uses for cotton are to keep our bodies dry & comfortable; think towels, Tshirts & socks... They absorb our sweat & bathwater so well, your cotton pillowcase is actually taking some moisture from your skin while you sleep. If you aren’t a good sleeper, you could be doing even more skin damage by the extra tugging, pulling & pressing into folds. SILK vs SATIN Silk is an organic fiber, while the term Satin refers to type of fabric weave or finish. It can be made from anything from silk blends to synthetics like rayon, polyester & nylon. Most satin is polyester. Satin may allow for less friction on your skin & hair, but it doesn’t offer the benefits package of silk. Satin is (most often) vegan though. How is Silk made? From long, thin water-insoluble fibers made by Silkworms during larval stage. The insect's intent is to create a cocoon for its transformation into future moth form. Workers simply unravel the cocoons, each can produce 325–1000 ft. of fine, very strong thread. What to know before purchasing: •THE MOMME -Silk is measured by fabric weight, not thread count. A decent Momme is 19-25. Higher #=stronger fabric •Long fibers=soft/Grade 6A=best •Mulberry Silk -From silkworms that eat only Mulberry leaves, creating long & uniform strands brooklinen - Mulberry Silk Pillowcase Knew it would be an expensive purchase, did a lot of research to select Brooklinen: 💕22 Momme/Mulberry silk $59 each. There are less $ options w/ same specs, but they offer 365 day returns! OEKO-TEX cert.
Night Skin Care Routine for Oily Acne Prone Skin
Please note that this is what I often use for my nighttime skincareroutine. Come AM,I only use just an essence/ toner and sunblock after washing my face with a mild face wash. 🍓Cerave foaming facial cleanser (fragrance- free for normal to oily skin) - honestly wanted to try this trending cleaner and it didn’t disappoint. It is a clear gel that foams like the typical cream cleansers. So far, it works for me and i like it because it’s mild and non- stripping.CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin 🍓The Ordinary GlycolicAcid toning solution- I use this only twice a week and i love it because I can see the gunk on the cotton pad after each use. I use it on my UA too btw. :)The Ordinary - Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution 🍓Muji Booster Essence Lotion- I use this or the Laneige Skin refiner (if the air is drier) because it preps my skin for it to absorb the serums and moisturizer better. It makes the skin moist, plump just overall healthy- looking.MUJI - Boosting Essence Lotion 🍓Pearlessence Argan and Vitamin E FacialOil - I just randomly got this from Marshalls because of the packaging lol. Pleasantly surprised because it’s a nourishing face oil with a relaxing scent to boot. I took a star away bec i find the oil is not that thin thus it takes a little bit more for my face to absorb itPEARLESSENCE - Argan Oil and Vitamin E Facial Oil 🍓Human Nature Sunflower oil Eye cream - I’ve always loved the oil and was glad to try this eyecream. Have yet to see the effect but eyebags weren’t really an issue to me. The fragrance- free bouncy cream absorbed easily on the under- eye and sometimes i use it as an over- all face moisturizer.#Human Nature - sunflower oil eye cream[products]#[FiveStars] 🍓Skin Potions Peach thy Lash eyelash and eyebrow grower - Consistenly used this for a month or two and I can say it is effective in lengthening and thickening my brows and lashes. It’s not oily like castor oil and has this gel- like consistency that is not stinging to the eyes.Skin Potions - Peach Thy Lash 🍓Laneige lip sleeping mask - this cult favorite has been a staple and it’s my ride or die lipbalm/ mask/ treatment. I used petroleum jelly or lip balm before but when I tried this, I DID NOT LOOK BACK SEZ. The tub may seem small but it will last a looong time even if used daily.LANEIGE - LANEIGE Lip Sleeping Mask I find that these products work for my oily acne prone skin lately but always remember that consistency is 🔑☺️
I put together all the things I can’t travel without. Including the glossier pouch lol 🙂 Everyone knows that I never travel without my Aquishair towel. I find it useful to have more than one too! Touchland hand sanitizer is a must. Doesn’t smell like alcohol and doesn’t dry your hands out.Plus it’s cute 😉 Laneige is something I use overnight and during the day. It’s a great lip mask that I also use as a regular lip balm. It has a nice gloss to it too! Hero cosmetics pimple patches always come along because you never know when a pesky whitehead will pop up. A makeupdrop that can be used for many things! I usually bring it along with a mask, but you can also use it to depuff skin and apply makeup. I always have at least 2 scrunchies with me just in case one gets lost (which is not uncommon for me). Invisibobble makes my favorite scrunchies. A lash curler is now necessary everyday or else my lashes will push against my glasses. And lastly, my Welovecoco hand cream ❤️ travel friendly no matter where you’re going. Across town or across the globe, it’s always with me.

Dewy, glossy lips and convenient packaging
Side note: Isn’t the packaging so lovely? I love the Then I Met You blue. 💙 I was so excited to try out this lip mask when it launched last month for three reasons: 1) I thought the tube was super convenient for on the go, compared to the Laneige lip mask where I either have to use my finger or bring my little paddle. 2) The formulation intrigued me because it was meant to exfoliate your lips but also keep they moist / dewy at the same time. 3) I was really hoping it would smell like melona popsicles... The good: + Lips definitely look dewy af after applying. + Super convenient packaging, it’s slim and will fit into any purse or even your pocket. + The squeeze tube makes it easy to apply lip products without contaminating the applicator when you’re out and about (very relevant for right now where everyone is trying to be extra hygienic) + The formula is moisturizing (I would say more like an oil versus the buttery Laneige lip mask) but doesn’t leave lips sticky. + I’ve been wearing it consistently for a few days now and my lips definitely don’t feel as flakey as they did before. + Scent is nice, but subtle. The not so good: - I wouldn’t say that this is a direct replacement for the Laneige lip mask which is a little more moisturizing. I think the Laneige works perfect before bed or when your lips are in dire need of moisture. Whereas this is almost like a glossy balm for on the go. - This is definitely an investment seeing as it’s over $20 USD for just 0.5 oz of product. That’s not too far off from what the Laneige mask goes for, but it’s a little steep considering I don’t think it has quite the same moisturizing effect. Worth it? To me, this is worth it just because of the pretty and convenient packaging. And if you crave a really dewy, but natural look at work or on the go, I think you’ll like this. Would I repurchase? Probably, again just because of the packaging! But before I buy this one again, I want to buy glow recipe’s lip balm and compare! Then I met you - Honey Dew Lip Mask 💋

A True Winter Staple from Mario Badescu!
If you guys have been following me on Instagram, you know I am OBSESSED with lip care. Sure, I can share with you dozens of lip products from drugstore to luxury brands, but some products just stick out to me. One of these products is a tried and true from Mario Badescu! Today I’m reviewing their Lip Balm (unscented) which is meant to hydrate and treat lips “of all skin types.” We’ll get into that in a moment. It’s a squeezable tube with a lipstick-shaped applicator which I love when I don’t have time to apply with my fingers or when I’m working on my computer and I don’t want sticky fingers. The consistency is similar to Vaseline, but without the gunky, heavy, sticky mess. It’s heavier than a traditional chapstick but it won’t goop or pool around your lips like a lip mask might. The best part, it has NO SCENT OR FLAVOR and it’s transparent! I’m not joking. I don’t know how they did it. I’m super sensitive to fragrance, so I appreciate that tremendously. My experience with this has been amazing. I love applying it day and night but specifically when I’m at my desk working and I can mindlessly throw it on my lips. It keeps them hydrated ALL DAY!! I do have to mention that it contains coconut oil so I don’t recommend using it as an overnight lip mask or applying a ton of it, as in both situations it can travel to other parts of your mouth/chin and cause clogged pores if you have specific skin types—that’s where I question why they even added that part to the packaging. I think it’s well worth it, coming in at $8–you can’t go wrong. Mario Badescu hit it out of the park with this product! It lasts forever and I feel like everyone should try it in their lifetime. It’s cruelty free and paraben free as well. I’m rating it 5-stars, as it’s a product I can always count on, especially as we move into these cold winter months! MARIO BADESCU - Mario Badescu Lip Balm

Laneige lip gloss
This is the holy grail for soft, hydrated and plump lips. After seeing the rave about this product, I had to try it out on myself and I was impressed by the results. This texture contains petroleum jelly which makes the consistency of this lip treatment creamy and jelly on the lips as you glide it. It’s slippery and sticky. I personally apply a little and it goes along way. My lips absorbed this and left them incredibly smooth and pink. I love that I can use this for the night time routine and wake up with glowing lips in the morning.
