Trying out the Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay!

If you have oily, acne prone skin with large pores, I definitely recommend the Aztec Secret Indian Clay mask! I noticed a difference in the size of my pores after ONE USE. It doesn’t irritate skin, and it really helps to take all the toxins out. Not to mention the price is AMAZING. I want to go in a little into why I love this mask over all other clay masks and how much I disliked it when I first started using it because I didn’t understand anything about it until I did some research. When I first started using this mask, I followed the directions and mixed it with water, apple cider vinegar and the clay. Equal parts each. Suffice to say, it was too watery. My skin “purged” the first few times I used it. I thought it was causing acne, so I stopped using it for a month. Since the other clay masks I tried over that duration weren’t doing anything for my acne or blackheads, I decided to give the Aztec mask another shot but wanted to see how other people used it first, to see if I was doing anything wrong. Turns out, your supposed to use apple cider vinegar or water, not both. Apple cider vinegar turned out to be much more beneficial, as it helps the mask mix into a nice cream. Vinegar is also really good for your skin and any acne or blackheads because it balances your skins pH level! I also learned that my skin was purging the junk from its pores and not getting acne from the mask. After 2 uses, my skin stopped purging so heavily. Now I just use it for blackheads. 😁 I also stopped waiting for the mask to dry before rinsing it off because if you let it dry, then it will strip your skin of its moisture and that will lead to inflammation and then more acne! Instead, I wait for the mask to get damp and sticky to the touch before rinsing it off, which is usually between 10 and 15 minutes. I have learned that the drying times depends on my skins hydration levels before using the mask. If my face is drier than usual, like during winter, then it will become damp quicker. Usually around 10 minutes. If my skin is oilier and more hydrated, like during summer, then it will take 15 minutes. For the mixture: I use equal parts of the mothers apple cider vinegar (but you can use any apple cider vinegar) and the clay. I mix it until it’s a cream texture and Ill add more clay powder or vinegar if I need to. I apply a thick layer and leave it on until sticky to the touch. Then I rinse it off with luke warm water. A good dupe for this mask, if you do not want to mix it up yourself is the Acure Lemonade mask, that I bought from Target. It contains the bentonite clay, charcoal and other good ingredients for acne. It isn’t as good as the Aztec but it’s the best one that I have tried out of all other clay masks. AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay This clay mask is targeted at people that want to deep cleanse and remove dirt from their skin. This is a great mask for people that want to draw out impurities from their skin and clear out pores. Don’t we all? But I’m specially looking at you you acne-prone skin people! Just like me! This is a huge jar of powder that when you mix it with water or vinegar it turns into clay and a mask. This contains bentonite clay which is such a great ingredient for drawing out all the nasties from our skin. I really enjoyed using this and now I’m steering away to other masks but it clears up everything and leaves my skin smooth. I used to use this once a week. This is so cheap too! I totally recommend this mask for everyone! It’s so cheap (I think in the US it’s 7 bucks) so in the worst case you give away the big jar or you lose 7 dollars. Doesn’t sound bad to me if this can eventually clear up your skin a bit! I mix mine with water and actually have never tried it with apple cider vinegar like most. I’m too lazy ahaha but I’ve heard it works too! For me it works great with only water. Considering the price, the amount you get and what it does + ingredients this gets a 4.5/5 (5/5)

After succumbing to the pressure of my social media feed, I ordered this mask a couple months ago and I hoped it would be the miracle cure for my stubborn acne. It’s a good product, but I will be trying some other mask rather than reordering. Pros: It definitely helps to clear pores, and while it does help with blemishes, it didn’t make them vanish like I had hoped. It can also be used as a spot treatment for blemishes. It definitely helped them to clear up faster, but again, no miracles. It goes on nicely and it didn’t dry out my skin. It does say it’s free of nasty ingredients, but it’s not on the Think Dirty app. Cons: This is a very expensive mask ($66 CAD plus shipping). If it had been as good as I hoped, it would be worth it, but it’s hard to justify spending so much. Is it a great product- yes! But does it live up to the hype- no. I don’t plan to repurchase, at least for now.
