Let’s talk Exfoliation for that GLOW!

W H Y E X F O L I A T E: The benefits of a good skin exfoliation are well versed across skin care discussions. We all have our reasons for why it’s part of our routines, and for me it’s simple: I have hyperpigmentation. The faster I can help my skin clear those layers of dead skin cells, the less work my other products have to work to help out the healthy skin cells. Think about it like trying to polish a dirty floor. You need to clean up all the dust and crumbs off the floor before you can polish, otherwise you’re just adding to the chaos. Exfoliation helps with having a clean face to let all those good moisturizers and serums do their job properly. W I T H W H A T: You can have your pick of type of exfoliator: chemical (acid) vs. mechanical (scrub). Both work well but it’s really up to you what you choose to do. I find chemical to be a bit more gentle as you can find formulas that suit your skin type, I tend to like a combo of AHAs and BHAs. However, I began my skin journey years ago using the pictured scrub product, and it still has its place on my shelf 10 years later. H O W: This really depends on your skin type - I can only speak to my own (dry to combo depending on season). I like to exfoliate 1-2x a week, always at night. I encourage the night time ritual because you are stripping your skin and exposing fresh skin cells so you want to give them a tiny break overnight before exposing them to the sun. This is true of whatever type of exfoliator you use, just to be on the safe side. You definitely run a higher risk of sun burn this way. Also, please, please, please remember to use sunscreen during the day if you use anything with exfoliating formulas. Even if you’re not planning on being outside. My review on this product; 4.5/5 I lean more towards acid exfoliators nowadays BUT I love this microdermabrasion exfoliator bc it is so reliable. I don’t know if it’s the papaya extract in this product but my skin always glows with this. A glow I can’t replicate with some of my acid ones. It is a bit harsher on my skin (which is why I don’t use it frequently) but it also works so well. The price point is pretty good $34CAD for 120g. This will usually last me well over a year with regular use since I also use it to help a bit with the mild Keratosis Pilaris (KP) on my upper arms. Great starter exfoliator for olive and medium skin tones! Definitely helps achieve that dewy glowy skin in the summer days. ✌🏼

Sukari Babyfacial Mask... even though drunk elephant baby facial lower percent I feel ordinary is gentler .... if you want that glow you want use an acid... I admit I was scared at first with sensitive skin... I don’t use it as often or let it sit on that long

I tried a viral Drunk Elephant dupe
I tried a viral Drunk Elephant dupe
The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask I also found this dupe on Tiktok! Everyone is talking about the ordinary AHA BHA solution and I’m so glad! I’ve been using this for a little over a year now and it’s really amazing. I have a previous review on this product so I won’t get too much into it. The Drunk Elephant Babyfacial is a new product to me. I always saw everyone raving about this so I finally decided to give it a try. So many people on Tiktok are saying that the ordinary product is a dupe for this one but I had to see for myself. These products are more different than I originally thought. Despite them having almost the same percentage of AHA and BHA, the user experience is much different. The drunk elephant one comes out a tan color with slight particles in it. It’s super sticky and you have to spread it evenly before it dries because it’ll become tacky and uneven. It has a subtle scent but it smells natural. You are supposed to leave this on for 20 minutes but I usually do 15 to lessen irritation. The ordinary one goes on red and less sticky but you are supposed to leave it on for only 10 minutes or less. In my opinion, the ordinary one does a more intense job at exfoliating. I would recommend this to someone who has oily or rough skin type that wants to try an AHA BHA product. The drunk elephant one is more of a luxury experience and left my skin a little softer. I think this is good for someone with normal to dry skin because it does have some moisturizing agents as well as the AHA BHA. I will continue to use both! I do think that if you’re on a budget, it’s worth it to just get the ordinary product because the results are very comparable

Is this really a dupe?
Is this really a dupe?
DRUNK ELEPHANT - T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial Mask Product claims: A pro-quality AHA/BHA facial that resurfaces skin to reveal greater clarity, improved skin texture and tone, and a more youthful appearance. Ingredients: 25% AHA blend (glycolic, tartaric, lactic) + 2% BHA (saliclyc acid). Skin type: normal, dry, combination and oily. Scent: no fragance. Formulation: lightweight mask. Directions: 20 minutes. Price: $80 Thoughts: light tingling sensation, very tolerable. My skin feels soft the next day. The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution Product claims: An exfoliating solution to help fight visible blemishes and improve the look of skin texture and radiance. Ingredients: 30% AHA blend (glycolic, tartaric, lactic) + 2% BHA (salicylic acid). Skin type: normal, combination and oily. Scent: no scent. Formulation: liquid. Directions: 10 minutes. Price: $7.20 Thoughts: the first time I used it the tingling sensation was intense so I put myself in front of a fan 🥵. My skin looked smooth and luminous for the next two days. This combination of ingredients offers a deep exfoliation that helps clear blemishes, improve luminosity and get rid of dead skin cells to reveal healthy and luminous skin. I generally use this type of exfoliants every 2 weeks, I love the results I get with them, with continued use it helps to control acne breakouts, fine lines, wrinkles and improve the look of skin texture. Concentration levels vary a little, The Ordinary has a higher concentration (higher concentration, more susceptibility to irritation), both have anti-inflammatory ingredients but Drunk Elephant (DE) has a powerful mix of them that doesn’t compare with The Ordinary. DE is much better for dry skin due to its anti-inflammatory ingredients. Both have the same long-term results, so it will depend on how much you want to spend 🤑.

AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
The Ordinary-AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
This is the much hyped peeling
This is the much hyped peeling solution by the ordinary. This is a 30% AHA 2% BHA acid party. No joke guys this stuff is strong! It’s going to slough off dead skin cells, helps fine lines and wrinkles, help with sun damage and unclog those pores.⁣ And no, it doesn’t peel, even though it’s called peeling solution. ⁣It’s a bloody maroon color (best way to describe it) and it’s kinda terrifying, not gonna lie! BUT, honestly, this product works well IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCED WITH ACIDS & CHEMICAL PEELS. If your skin is not familiar with acids, make sure to work up a tolerance. This remains on for 10 minutes, but I would recommend 5 minutes for the first time or two and then work your way up. You do this once a week or even longer until your skin is use to all those crazy acids ⁣ ⁣In comparison to drunk elephant baby facial, the ordinary has a little less soothing properties and is 5% stronger in AHA. After trials with both of these for a few months, I do find my face to feel a little softer after the DE compared to the ordinary. However, I think that if you are not wanting to drop $80 bucks on baby facial (understandable) then this is a great alternative/dupe! Both use sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer, glycolic, lactic, tartaric, citric & salicylic acid. Drunk elephant uses more hydrating and soothing properties like marula oil, passion fruit extract, pomegranate extract, pumpkin ferment extract, matcha, milk thistle, apple extract & more. ⁣⁣ ✨ Overall ✨⁣ I will continue to use this every once in a while, but I find myself wanting to use baby facial instead. If you are in the search for a good alternative to DE baby facial, I would highly recommend this with some added oils and a creamy moisturizer to follow

give me the AHA/BHA DUPE!
give me the AHA/BHA DUPE!
🌸The high end HERBIVORE - Prism 20% AHA + 5% BHA Exfoliating Glow Facial vs 🌸the dupe The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution 🌸 which is better? the dupe! The Ordinary’s peeling solution is more effective for me and costs less at $7. Prism on the other hand is more gentle and costs $58. I like the feel of the Ordinary’s on my skinThe Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution 🌸 ingredients both products use alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids in different proportions. The effects are very similar: AHAs exfoliate dead skin and refine texture, BHAs dissolve oil and can make pores appear smaller. Because Prism has less AHA, it doesnt sting as much as the Ordinary. It has more BHA which can be very helpful for people with acne. The Ordinary also has a solid concentration of BHA for the same use 🌸 texture the color of Prism is clear and the texture is like a gel, with a tingle. The Ordinary is dark red and also gel-like, and it stings the skin more. You should not leave these masks on for a prolonged period of time or you can suffer a chemical burn
