WHY I LOVE TONER
I LOVE TONERS. Here’s the thing about toner - it’s a complete MYTH that you need one for the purposes of rebalancing the pH of skin after washing your face. That’s ancient advice (marketing, really) from when pH-balanced liquid facial cleansers hadn’t been invented yet and people used alkaline soap bars to cleanse their faces. Toners these days serve different purposes, but the two most common categories I see are exfoliating toners and hydrating toners. Today, I’m going to talk about my favourite type - hydrating ones. I started using a hydrating toner about six years ago and I haven’t looked back. In fact, I still use the same brand today - Hada Labo. My skin is oily, but around six years ago I started using Differin for my acne. The side effects of this include skin that dehydrates easily, so I needed to start using a product that helped that. My research pointed me to Hada Labo toners, and the first one I tried was the Hada Labo Shirojyun Toner. To use a hydrating toner like this, all you need to do is pat in a small amount until fully absorbed. If you want to, you can use it for the ‘7 Skins Method’ a method where you pat in 7 layers of toner. It’s easy to do because toners are usually very watery products. This is my favourite thing about toner - the bottles are larger and you can pat in more layers of products, so they’re MORE effective and better value than applying a single layer of hydrating serum. Right now I’m trialling the Mizon toner and I actually don’t like it that much - it’s just ok. Same with the Hada Labo Premium Gokujyun Toner. I love the Isntree Toner, it's the most like the original Hada Labo toners that I've tried Do you use hydrating toners? HADALABO - Hada Labo Shirojyun Albutin Medicinal Whitening Toner

Rate my routine, suggestions welcome 👌
Hey guys this is my first post. Most of these products I bought after reading reviews and learning how to read ingredient lists on here. I use YOUTH TO THE PEOPLE - Superfood Antioxidant Cleanser cleanser with an electric silicone face brush. This can be a little hard to fully rinse off but, my skin is soft and glows after. Then I use HERITAGE STORE - Rosewater Spray to tone and prepare for my first essenceHADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion which is very moisturizing and slimy. I use this for both the moisture and the niacinamide. I wait until it is fully dry the spritz more rose water and follow up with CosRx snail mucin ferment essenceCOSRX - Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence . After that I will either add this combo: The Ordinary - Retinol 0.5% in Squalane and then belif - Aqua Bomb Sleeping Mask or the CosRx snail all in one cream COSRX - Advanced Snail 92 All in One Cream to keep this oil on my skin and not my pillow lol Or go straight to Embryolisse - Lait Crème Concentré this is thick and I will either use it as a moisturizer or load it on as a sleeping mask. I mainly do skincare at night and I know that I should add a vitamin C and sunscreen during the day but, I haven’t found any moisturizing ones that I like yet/that are simple enough for me to slap on and give adequate protection. Please let me know your thoughts 😊
Updated PM Routine
Hey guys! I recently posted my updated AM routine, so now it’s time for my updated PM routine! It’s mostly the same products, minus SPF and adding in actives. For reference, I have dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin! 1. *Not pictured* If I wore makeup that day (very rare) or used multiple layers of sunscreen, I use the DHC - Deep Cleansing Oil to double cleanse my skin. Double cleansing provides a deeper clean on days that I need it! ($28 for 6.7oz at Dermstore) 2. VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser : I recently made the switch from CeraVe hydrating cleanser, and I am absolutely loving it! It’s still gentle, but it provides an amazing deep clean! It foams up really well. My skin is so soft and clean after using it. It’s the perfect first step for my routine. I use one pump with my Innerneed silicone face scrubber. ($8.99 for 8oz at Target.) 3. HADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion : This hyaluronic acid solution contains 5 different molecular weights of hyaluronic acid to penetrate deeply into the skin. It has a gel-like texture. I apply a small amount on damp skin. It leaves my skin feeling plump, hydrated, and glowing. ($15.89 for 8oz on Amazon.) 4. CeraVe - CeraVe Moisturising Cream : This is the moisturizer that I keep coming back to. I have yet to find one that I like better! It’s very thick and moisturizing. It absorbs best when I apply it while my skin is still damp from the hyaluronic acid lotion. It provides a matte finish and keeps my skin soft & hydrated throughout the day! ($9.99 for 8oz at Target.) 5. Tretinoin 0.1% or PAULA'S CHOICE - 10% Azelaic Acid Booster : I alternate these products every other night. The Tretinoin is my holy grail product! It was prescribed by my dermatologist for my acne. If you are interested to learn more about Tretinoin, check out my posts “My Tretinoin Journey” and “Derm Prescribed Acne Treatments”. ($10 with insurance) Azelaic acid was also prescribed by my dermatologist to help fade my post-inflammatory erythema (PIE), which is basically post-acne red marks. I already had this product at home, so I’m finishing it up before switching to prescription strength. ($36 for 1oz from Paula’s Choice) Both of these products have helped me so much. My skin is getting clearer and clearer each day!
My Fav Serums 🤩
These are the serums I use every day! I honestly don’t use too many different skin products when it comes to serums because these work really well for me already! The first one is The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum which I use during the night time. It definitely helps with oil control since I feel like when I stopped using it, my oil production in the T zone was crazy throughout the day. I will say though, I feel like it gives me these tiny little pimples all over my face. I’m not really sure how to fix it though so if anyone has any advice or tips, feel free to comment! The second serum is the Gokujyun Hyaluronic Acid serum. This is the staple in my routine. I use it day and night and it’s really gentle on my skin. I think it’s labeled as a lotion, but it’s actually a toner. Personally, I think it’s too light to use as a toner so I kind of treat it as a serum. I use it after the Paula’s Choice 2% BHA liquid exfoliant and I heard you’re supposed to have slightly damp skin before using hyaluronic acid. The texture of it is really watery btw!!! You also need a lot less than you would think. When I first started, I would use way too much, but a little goes a long way! The last serum is the Clean Skin Club Vitamin C Brightening Booster. It has watermelon, green tea, and pineapple and it’s pretty thick. It has a slight scent but nothing too strong to handle. I like to use this after my toner and after the hyaluronic acid serum. I feel like some of the other Vitamin C serums I’ve tried in the past were way too strong so this mixture is perfect for me! Also, if you end up using this remember to use SPF afterwards!! Some Vitamin C serums are also grainy but the texture of this is creamy and smooth! #CheriePartner
MYTHS ABOUT HYALURONIC ACID
Today I’m going to talk about hyaluronic acid. It’s one of my favorite skincare ingredients ever and I hate seeing so many myths about it! Today I’m going to bust two major myths I keep seeing about hyaluronic acid. ✖️MYTH ONE:✖️ You can ONLY apply this to damp skin for it to work. 💧I see a lot of people posting about the idea that you can only apply hyaluronic acid to damp skin so it can ‘grab’ the water on the skin and bring it to the deeper layers for hydration. 💧The thing is, this isn’t true. When you look at your hyaluronic acid product formula, the first ingredient 100% of the time is going to be some form of water. Whether that’s mineral water, infused water, glacier water, whatever—it’s still water, which the hyaluronic acid can grab and take into the skin with it. If you prefer to apply your HA this way, that’s fine—just be aware that it’s not a hard and fast rule. HA works just as well when applied to just-dried skin as it does on damp skin. ✖️MYTH TWO:✖️ Hyaluronic Acid can actually dehydrate the skin 💧People think that hyaluronic acid can secretly dehydrate your skin if you live in a dry environment. What’s the truth? Well, it’s true that HA relies a lot on grabbing water from the air in a humid environment. 💧However, studies have shown that it also takes moisture from the deeper layers in the skin—specifically from the moisture in our blood. So, the truth is that HA takes moisture from two sources—the environment and our bodies. However, it’s ALWAYS a good idea to ‘lock in’ HA with a thicker moisturizing product to ensure that it’s keeping hydration where it should be—in your skin! 💧Hada Labo Gokujyun Premium Review 💧HADALABO - Gokujyun Premium Lotion This is the thicker, richer, more hydrating version of my absolute favorite Hada Labo Gokujyun (the regular, runny version). have a full review of this on my blog, but I’ll put a short version here. For my oily skin, I can only use this as a hydrating serum—not a runny lotion that I can use the 7 skin methods for. For oily skin, I would recommend the regular Gokujyun lotion over this. HADALABO - Rohto Hadalabo Gokujun Hyaluronic Lotion Moist The Premium lotion was just too rich to use for the 7 skin method, and actually clogged my pores a little bit when I tried to use it that way.
Isntree Hyaluranic Acid Toner
ISNtree - Hyaluronic Acid Toner contains 3 different hyaluronic acids with different molecular sizes for quick hydration. It has the viscous consistency like most of the HA toners. Most important, it does not contain any fragrance. I usually have 2 layers of this under my oil serum and cream for hydration. Recently I am trying it as body hydration. My lower leg always has dry chapped skin during winter, and this really help smoothing the skin. I will continue using this on face and body. Thank you Go.picky and Isntree sending this for free in exchange of honest review. I have used it for more than 2 months now. 200ml a bottle retails for $18USD
Gentle yet Effective Korean Toners
I’m sure a lot of you are familiar with Isntree. It’s a Korean brand that is known for gentle but effective skincare products. They are cruelty-free, and they don’t use chemicals or harsh ingredients like alcohol, artificial fragrances or coloring - so it’s should be safe for sensitive skin. I have been using the Fresh Green Tea Toner for more than a month now, while the HA toner for a few days. Here are my thoughts about these two toners: ✨ISNtree - Green Tea Fresh Toner contains 80% of green tea extract, as well as Centella extract, willow bark, blueberry extract and hyaluronic acid. It is light brown in color, has water like texture and smells herbal like a fermented green tea. I love the scent of this and it feels very refreshing! This toner is designed to help with redness, brightening and has anti-aging properties. It absorbs very quickly. Because I have dry skin, it doesn’t provide as much hydration unless I layer it a few times (like an essence). However, I like it mainly because it helps with redness and it has anti-aging benefits. Though, I think someone with oily skin will enjoy it better because it’s lightweight and has sebum control properties. ✨ISNtree - Hyaluronic Acid Toner has 3 types of hyaluronic acid, that penetrates deeper into the skin, and provides intensive hydration. It’s also formulated with beta-glucan and Panthenol. This toner is fluid-y and a tiny bit thick but it absorbs beautifully on the skin without any tackiness and feeling heavy. I love the finish of this toner as it makes my skin soft, smooth and plumped. This is perfect for dry to normal skin type or even dehydrated skin. I have been loving this one so far!

NEW Naturium & Farmacy BHA comparison
Naturium and Farmacy were both gifted in PR. I have oily, dehydrated, acne prone sensitive skin at the moment. For full review on Farmacy’s BHA, check out my page. Here’s a comparison to Naturium’s new BHA ($20/4 oz) and which one I prefer! I have been using Naturium for nearly two weeks. The product is marketed toward all skin types, and claims to do exactly what a BHA does: exfoliates/clears pores, even tone, and smooth fine lines. My experience with this product so far is nice. It’s a more hydrating product, so my dehydrated skin loves it. It’s also alcohol free, oil free, and fragrance free, making this perfect for sensitive skin. The formula is relatively basic, which isn’t bad at all, considering the price! Since my skin is used to salicylic acid, I’ve used this daily since receiving it with no issues. I love to use SA in the morning after I cleanse, and this is the perfect toner step. If you normally tone after cleansing, I definitely recommend using this. My skin is left feeling balanced and it leaves no residue. My pores are noticeably better and I am less oily overall, thanks to the SA. Comparing this to Farmacy’s: Overall, both formulas work similarly, however for oily skin I am leaning more toward Farmacy. I find myself gravitating toward the formula more because it absorbs quicker, has more added benefits and feels more refreshing on my oily skin. If you prefer using SA at night or have drier skin, Naturium is a great option for the added moisture, plus it is more wallet friendly. I just prefer SA in the am, so I prefer what feels best for me during the day.
Tone Up Your Skin
Three years ago is when I came across this product dear, klairs - Supple Preparation Unscented Facial Toner . I first used their original one but after knowing that klairs had unscented version I bought it and three years later it is still part of my skincare collection. This toner is not only great for sensitive or acne prone skin but it is also great for dry skin. When I had cystic acne I used a lot of products that made my skin dry. This toner helped replenish my skin; it healed any irritated spots and hydrated areas that were dry (especially where my acne was). I would sometimes use this with or without cotton pads. But when I needed extra hydration I would apply it with my hands. As you can see (on my palm) this toner is water based which means it is lightweight and fast absorbing. This toner contains ingredients such as hyaluronic acid which is great for dry skin and all skin types; and of my top favorites CICA (Centella Asiatica) which helps heal skin and very hydrating. I really like how this toner made my skin feel and look. I recommend this for all skin types especially dry skin; if you had acne and now you are going through dry irritated areas I recommend for you to try this toner. The cost of this toner is inexpensive and believe me it is worth it. Your skin is going to thank you! $22

Stumbled on this 💎!
Mamonde - Rose Water Toner I went to Ulta and was directed to this little 💎 . I went in searching for a toner that I could use in my morning routine that would hydrate and refresh my dry sleepy skin, as well as gently exfoliate to smooth out the overall appearance it. 💲23 Not to pricey for a good toner. This product claims to be a multitasking water that tones, soothes, and hydrates your skin as well as prep your skin for make up or next steps in your beauty regimen. It contains an antioxidant rich extract from damask rose which soothes and purifies, the watery essence formula in this product provides fast absorbing hydration. It also contains lactic acid which gently exfoliates your skin for a smoother appearance. To use you just apply a small amount into your hand or a cotton pad and gently sweep onto your face starting from your nose and moving outward then gently pat any remaining product onto your skin. You can use this in the a.m. and p.m. I personally only use it in my morning routine. ❤️❤️❤️🌟🌟🌟🌟💎💎💎 Why I love this product and why I gave it four ⭐️ I have only been using this product for about a week so it’s a little early to tell on all the benefits that it claims to provide, but I do plan on revisiting my review after I’ve emptied the bottle. My Experience 😊🔥💎❤️ 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ First I have to talk about how amazing this toner smells!!! I mean when you are putting it on your skin it’s like you just shoved your face in a fresh bouquet of red roses. It is such a nice smell and no it does not get weird after you apply other things that happen to have sent in them the scent does fade, but as you apply it it’s definitely enjoyable. At this time I can say it hasn’t caused any more irritation to my skin, which can happen for me when I try a new product. It is definitely soothing even during hormonal breakouts. I do feel my complexion is becoming brighter, softer ,and it does give a nice dewy look to my skin. The only reason I only use it in the mornings is because over toning my skin for me, leads to breakouts no matter what purpose I’m using that toner for. This will probably become my go to toner. I do recommend this product.

Do you have irritated or unbalanced skin?
When I first heard about the Indie Lee CoQ-10 Toner INDIE LEE - CoQ-10 Toner I thought “why would I ever need something like this when I could just use a moisturizer?” Moisturizing toners just did not make sense to me. I saw it all over Instagram and never understood the hype. However, a couple months ago I started using this toner because my skin was super dry and irritated and seemingly imbalanced. I was always breaking out and flaking and too oily in other places. It was a mess! So I decided to start using this and found out that enzyme CoQ-10 not only assists in skin hydration, but also in protection—to help keep your skin IN CHECK! The consistency is pretty much just liquid. It doesn’t leave any sticky residue and soaks into the skin in 2-5 mins. It also has a slightly natural scent but it isn’t overwhelming at all. My skin type is sensitive, rosacea acne prone and combination depending on the season! This bottle is huge and heavy. I would definitely not be comfortable traveling with it, but they do have a mini size I would consider buying for when I travel. My routine when I use this is: -morning only, post-cleanse -it is a spray...but says to avoid the eye area. so I spray 2x into my hand and press it into my face instead. -allow to dry completely and continue with other serums after! I have to say I think this is one of the products that has helped my skin balance so much. It’s almost like my skin has been fighting something and is totally relieved now. I am breaking out less and acids are irritating me less and less! Also even though I’ve been using it for 2 months almost every day, it’s still 90% full. Insane! I have to rate it 5/5 and I highly recommend trying it out in their discovery kit if you’re interested in a hydrating, protective toner.

🌿Soothing Rosemary Toner🌿
Over 2 months ago I posted a sunscreen from Aromatica. I was impressed on the quality of the sunscreen and how it made my skin feel. I then decided to give AROMATICA - Vitalizing Rosemary Decoction Toner a try. Contains: 🌱 Rosemary 🌱 Aloe 🌱 Chamomile 🌱Verbena The above ingredients are listed based on the box. Theres more but these are the ingredients that stood out to me. Rosemary is the 1st ingredient while Aloe is the 2nd ingredient on the list. Meaning the toner is highly concentrated by these two ingredients. The other two fall in the small percentage of concentration. However, combining these ingredients aid in soothing, toning, skin generating, refreshing, purifying, and hydrating the skin. This also contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. Brand: Aromatica is probably the first clean beauty (since 2004) brand in Korea. It is vegan and cruelty free ( a plus for me). Packaging made out of recycled glass even the cap. In 2016 it became the first Korean brand to be U.S. EWG verified. Experience: After months not using a toner I began using one again. This toner has a pleasant woodsy herb scent, because of the Rosemary it is slightly acidic. It is lightweight and fast absorbent. It was soothing, hydrating and refreshing to my skin. One of my concerns is my oily t-zone and redness, while using it aid in controlling my excess sebum and soothe my skin. Since it is slightly acidic because rosemary has a natural alcohol. I have sensitive skin and the first time using it I felt a tingly sensation but, after a couple of uses I did not feel it anymore. Unless I had a pimple that was irritated then I will feel it. However, the tingly sensation was not irritating where my skin felt a burn in fact, I noticed that it aid in healing and soothing my irritated breakouts. Overall I recommend this for those with less break out. If you have open wound pimples you may feel a slight tingling. Before trying it out give it a patch test to make sure your skin reacts positively to the rosemary. Price: 300ml/ 10 fl. oz - $29 (retail) I purchased mine at style korean for $25 (not affiliated/sponsored) *Based on my skin experience. We may share the same skin type but, our skin reaction is different. Just sharing a product I enjoyed using*
