Follow along on my Lip Flip journey!! 👄👄
I am making this post now and will update with the results as soon as they begin to appear! Today I went in and got a “lip flip” procedure! This is basically where they inject Botox to your cupid’s bow and right under your lip to cause your lips to subtly “flip” outwards, giving the appearance of fuller lips. I have always been hesitant to get lip filler, so I am hoping that this is the in-between option that I have been searching for! The procedure took under 60 seconds all together, and cost $60+tip. They said it takes 2 weeks to fully see results, so I will be updating this post throughout the 2-week time period to track the progress! Update: Its been two weeks!! I honestly don’t see a huge difference :( my top lip does appear a little larger, but I don’t think it was worth the money. Definitely not something I’ll do again!!
In love with makeup and skincare 🍃
I grew up in the countryside, between cows and chickens. Many people always told me that makeup was not good because it was going to make you age fast.🍃 Now that I know more about makeup and skin care I love it. Now I teach and show family and friends that makeup will not make you age faster as long as it is of quality and reliable brands.🍃
My beauty journey 🥰🏆
My beauty journey has ultimately been one about self-discovery. For the majority of my younger years, I spent the majority of my efforts to conform to the beauty standards modeled through advertising in TV, Film, and Media. My ideas of beauty were always shaped by what was “trendy” and not necessarily what best suited my individual traits. After years of experimenting with different hairstyles, wardrobe choices, and skincare routines, I began to invest in learning about what decisions would best nurture my individual beauty traits. I didn’t think it would lead me down a path to become a full-time Drag Queen. For me, enhancing, and sometimes even manipulating my features to transform myself into the manifestation of my own imagination showed me that my beauty potential was endless. Once I realized that I began to really invest in self-care which now is the foundation of my beauty journey. Making sure I drink plenty of water, get tons of rest, eat well, exercise (Not to mention) exfoliate, clarify, and moisturize, the rest is a piece of cake!
Beach body with traditional wax
Yes, I know this is not what they mean by beach body – but I do associate summer, the sea, the pool with waxing, waxing and then more waxing. Because it feels that since spring until fall, there is a lot of it going on! Technically, if you use traditional wax, like I do, it should be enough to wax every three weeks or so, depending on your preferences or how fast your hair grows. However, if you have very dark hair and white skin, like I have, you might even need to do it sooner. I prefer hard, elastic wax which needs to be warmed up before applying to the skin. For the application I use a wooden spatula that is just the perfect size. So, what happens is that I heat up the beads on the stove. It takes literally less than 2 minutes and this is something I really like about this wax. I use a titanium dioxide wax, it doesn’t really matter what brand, I was pleased with mostly every type I’ve got. The titanium dioxide wax is great for sensitive skin, makes my skin smooth and soft and I like it a lot. After the wax is warm enough, I take it off the stove and wait for a few more minutes until it cools down a bit, so it doesn’t burn the skin. Then I start applying the wax using the wooden spatula, in the direction of the hair growth. This type of wax doesn’t need a paper strip to remove (another thing I like a lot about it!). So, once the wax hardens a bit, I remove it pulling it in the opposite direction of the hair growth. While it might sound complicated, it actually takes like 4 minutes to do the armpits and a little more to do the legs or arms. For the upper lip waxing you only need one or two applications and it is done within minutes. It’s not overly messy either, once you get the hang of it. I use it a lot and prefer it to other methods.
Hair Length - To be long or short ? 🤷🏻♀️
Let me give me y’all some background on my hair! Growing up I had one rule - DO NOT CUT YOUR HAIR ☠️! I grew up in a very traditional Latino household and short hair was associated with boys and not “pretty young girls!” 🥴 So I went through all of my K-12 school experience with long hair! It was not until college that I decided to take control over my life and I chopped off tons of inches off my hair with an added layer element to it! The picture on the right is me in college with my short to medium hair length and loving every bit of it! It was such a relief to have shorter hair! The perks are beyond what I could have expected! Showers were shorter, hairstyles were easier to manage, pony tails looked cute with the layers going in every directions, and of course it helped tremendously with the east coast summer heat 🌞! But alas like with every change I also experienced FOMO with my long locks! That was the last time I made such a dramatic haircut and I’ve been growing my hair out since that moment! I give myself a trim every few weeks to ensure I have the healthiest hair growing along. The picture on the left is a recent picture! As you can see my hair is ALMOST back to its original length! Yes! My pre-cut hair was longer than what I have now 😱! I love my length and I love how full it looks when I ass waves to it or how long and shiny it looks when straight. I currently have virgin long wavy hair and I am 100% okay with it! To be honest I don’t want to cut my hair that short any time soon. The only thing I would consider is changing the color to my a lighter brunette shade 💁🏻♀️. I think both lengths and style fit my face well since I have an oval face and someone once told me that’s the face shape that goes with the most hairstyles and lengths. I have a fair complexion as well, so I feel like my long dark locks gives me the extra elegant effect (if I do say so myself 😆)! My lifestyle is very easy going since I work in a school and my personal life is manageable hence why the long hair never gets in the way of me doing what I need to do! And when I do go out to the gym or hike, a messy bun is the way to go! In the end, I am 100% in love with my current long locks but will also be okay in the future if I decide to chop a good 6-8 inches off! 💇🏻♀️
