Best Sunscreen Ever!!
I have always been in search of a sunscreen that wouldn’t feel heavy , leave a white cast on my face and one that does not slide away my makeup. I wanted a sunscreen that felt more like one of my skin-care products, and less like a heavy cream. I came across Biore UV Aqua Watery Gel and was tempted to research more about this product and to try it out. After reading a lot of reviews of this product, I decided to order it in Amazon. I was surprised to learn that Biore is a Korean brand but at the same time felt more assured about the effectiveness of the product, because I have always loved K-beauty products for they actually work!! After using this for the very first time itself I knew that I will never be going back to “normal” sunscreens . The normal sunscreen that is thick, greasy and takes a long while to soak in ,yet a single drop of water can wash everything off!! Some commercial sunscreens even have so much Titanium Oxide that it leaves such a heavy white cast on my face !! This product is a SPF 50, PA ++++,UVA and UVB. Until a few years ago I had absolutely no clue what the difference was between UVA and UVB or about PA+. So, UVA causes skin ageing and UVB causes skin burn. PA++++ just means that more the number of +, the protection against UVA is more . More the SPF number, better the protection against UVB. This product has a more serum structure, and it gets absorbed by the skin pretty quickly. Doesn’t leave a WHITE CAST, is not heavy or oily and doesn’t clog pores!! I continue with my makeup on top of this and it even holds my makeup in place for the entire day!! I would highly recommend it for oily skin as it just disappears once applied ,and leaves behind a hydrated look-more plump and glowy. I have been using this sunscreen for almost 2 years now- I use it everywhere I go !! Been my absolute favorite. Post this product, I have also tried out few other K-beauty sunscreens which have all been great! I will put up a separate post on those soon!! I always repurchase my Biore sunscreen from Amazon. It’s easily available on Amazon in different product sizes. So, for anyone out there currently searching for a sunblock- order it up right away!! Bioré - UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+

Biore UV Watery Essence
If you’re searching for a lightweight SPF that quickly absorbs into your skin, this is it. Unlike sunscreens that leave a greasy or oily residue, this one absorbs easily into the skin, with no visible whitecast. It also works very well under makeup, and personally, I find it very hydrating. Lightweight and moisturizing, this sunscreen is fantastic for a hot, humid day. However, there are a few things I don’t love... it has fragrance, so if you have sensitive skin, this may be an issue! It also has a relatively strong alcohol smell. While some alcohol in a product isn’t uniformly harmful for the skin, I don’t love the smell, and I wonder about alcohol concentration here. For this reason, I’m not sure this will be my go-to. SPF 50+ that works so well under makeup!
There has been mixed reviews regarding the Japanese SPF 50+ sun cream Bioré - UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+ but I personally didn’t mind it. For the life of me I cannot read Japanese but thanks to google translator I manage to translate what is written on the back of this sunscreen- I have attached the translation. Note: I have dry sensitive skin Here were some “oh no moments” after reading what was written on the sunscreen: - This product states not good for sensitive skin lol 😂🤣😂 but I already brought 2 bottles... oops. So far I have had no adverse reaction to it. - The second ingredient in this SPF is ethanol which is drying to the skin. U can smell the alcohol on initial application but it fades away pretty quick. I didn’t lather on a lot, just 1/2 a teaspoon and my skin didn’t dry out. The “YES, let’s buy it now moments” - Japanese sunscreens claims to be light and don't leave your skin feeling greasy after application - this is so TRUE. It did not leave a white cast and dries very well ( must be from the Ethanol content). -My make up application has been flawless, no pills or balling of product. No dry spots or make up separation! Will I continue to use it?.. well I did buy 2 bottle so let’s not waste it. However I might not use it everyday due to the high alcohol content. Have u tried this Japanese sunscreen? Let me know your experience 😉
2 Biore SPFs put to the test
So if you’re someone who is interested in Korean spfs, and has come across both of these spfs, you definitely need to read this review! They are similar but have a few key differences. Bioré - Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sunscreen SPF50+ This is the more common of the 2, and is widely spoken about. It has multiple chemical UV filters which make it effective. The texture feels light, it dries quickly, and it blends nicely into the skin. My biggest issue is that alcohol is #2 on the ingredients. It smells like alcohol mixed with fragrance which I find unpleasant. I’m sure it dries down so quickly due to the alcohol. It can be drying on dry skin types as well. I didn’t have too much of an issue but it wasn’t my favorite as a result. Bioré - UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel SPF 50+ PA++++ This has the same chemical filters as the watery essence, with the main difference being texture. This as a more “true sunscreen” texture in the sense that it is rather thick when applied. It doesn’t blend as easily into the skin and feels a bit sticky tbh. Alcohol is #2 in this as well and it has the same alcohol-y smell as the essence. I really did not enjoy the texture of this as I found it heavy and sticky. My makeup pretty much fell off my face when I applied it. Didn’t cause breakouts but I just don’t Iove it. So the main difference is just the texture. If you aren’t bothered by the alcohol, I would recommend going with the essence to start as the gel just doesn’t feel great on the skin.

Chemical vs Physical Sunscreen
*The product above is SPF 50 and the tagged product is 55* Chemical vs Physical Sunscreen: Chemical: Sounds scary but it’s not. Chemical sunscreens contain filters which sink into the skin and absorb UV rays to prevent damage to the skin. The most common ingredients to look for are oxybenzone, octocrylene, abobenzone, and octisalate. These formulas are generally more light-weight and don’t leave a white residue. Most chemical sunscreens are water resistant! Physical: Contains zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide. Physical sunscreen works by sitting on top of the skin and deflecting/scattering UV rays. You can tell it’s physical as it appears thicker and stays more white on the skin. This type of sunscreen is also less irritating for those with sensitive skin. ——————————— Neutrogena - Ultra Sheer Face Mist Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 55 As I said before, the product I am reviewing is SPF 50 and the tagged product is SPF 55. This sunscreen is a chemical sunscreen as it contains octocrylene, octisalate, abobenzone, etc. This is a very sheer, light-weight face mist sunscreen. I love that it’s a spray, which means you don’t necessarily have to get your hands messy. I, however, still rub it into my face after I spray so I know I’m completely covered. This is a broad-spectrum sunscreen which protects against harmful UVA and UVB rays. I love this because it doesn’t leave your skin feeling greasy, it doesn’t clog my pores, and it’s water resistant for up to 40 minutes. I honestly don’t even feel like I’m wearing sunscreen when I apply this! It’s so sheer! Applying this is my last step in my skin care routine. It’s best to apply this 15 minutes before sun exposure :) I got this for $14 CAD at Walmart. Also available at Shoppers Drug Mart.

Best Chemical Sunscreen for under makeup
Japanese Bioré - UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+ is hands down the best and my personal favorite to wear under makeup. It protects you from both UVB and UVA rays 🌞 ~UVB targets and burns the surface of the face ~UVA targets the skin's DNA and will break down collagen thus damaging the skin's elasticity 🦋Consistency - watery gel creamy feel to it (if that makes sense) 🦋it goes on to the skin beautifully 🦋feels lightweight and gives a subtle glow 🦋ever so slight subtle glow that will peak from behind makeup 🦋 does not ruin your makeup one bit. 🦋 does not leave a white cast as it is a mineral sunscreen, as opposed to a physical sunscreen. Got mine on Amazon and will definitely be repurchasing. 💙

SUNSCREEN I still can’t believe that I only started wearing sunscreen a year ago (RIP my skin) and that I used to think because I spent most of my time indoors at home, I didn’t have to. I was SO SO wrong! These 2 so far have been my favorites. I’ve been meaning to try out Supergoop! Unseen Sunscreen but I just haven’t gotten round to it yet. 🌻 Shiseido Anessa Perfect UV Sunscreen Mild Milk (for sensitive skin) This is a best seller in Japan! It’s SPF 50 and the sensitive skin version contains no fragrances, no alcohols AKA no bad stuff. The texture is a slightly watery, milky lotion and feels very lightweight on the skin. Some people have complained that this feels greasy but for me, it goes on beautifully and I love how it feels on my skin. 🌻 Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence - SPF 50 This was the sunscreen that changed my life and made me fall in love with putting sunscreen. All the ones I’d used before this were always so greasy and left me with a white cast most of the time. This feels NOTHING like a sunscreen and almost goes on the skin like a lightweight moisturiser. The skin absorbs it like a goddamn dream. Also, have I told you how much I love the way this smells? DIVINE.
