Frizzy Hair Fix Pt. 2
I purchased this after much time spent watching curly hair youtubers just dying over how good this product was, naturally I had to try it for myself. Just a heads up: I have wavy hair so I’m definitely not the ideal person to be using this product; however, I figured this could aid with frizz and it sure did! It definitely does make my waves feel different after I use it, but it cuts down on frizz SO MUCH!! I experience little to no frizz after using and sleeping on it. 🕊Makes hair soft 🕊Little goes a long way 🕊Cuts down on frizz 🕊Silicone free! I’d definitely recommend to anyone in need of a cure for frizz. I believe if you have curly/kinky hair this will help define your curls too considering that’s its main purpose.

How I fully transitioned and grew my 4b/c hair
My hair journey is something that means a lot to me. As a child I was always known to have hair so long it reached the middle of my back. Whether my hair was curly, straight, braided or in twists it generated a lot of talk. That’s why when I went natural and lost basically all the length that I somewhat had it was such a shocker. I was natural as a child before I began to get a relaxer at around 3rd grade. It was needed since my mom had just gotten over breast cancer for a second time and my long thick curls were too much for her to take care of. My hair still retained its length, even as I went into middle school but once I hit 9th grade I’d realized something. My length was gone. Now I will say SOOOO many hair mistakes were made when I began doing my own hair in high school. I put too much heat to it, I manipulated it too much, and I didn’t care about my strands enough. I honestly don’t know at what point I realized I wanted to go natural but at the end of my sophomore year I did. My mother who is a very traditional black woman when it comes to hair made it crystal clear there was no way in hell I was getting the big chop I wanted. Because of this I was forced to transition over. I vividly remember the first product I used as a natural being SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie this served a good purpose since my number one goal at the time was curl definition. I don’t mind that as much anymore because I have come to terms with the fact that my hair type is NOT loose curls. Since quarantine that goal has changed. My goal I’m March went from “how do I get my hair to curl” to “okay how do I retain length and keep my hair healthy” and I knew my answer. Braids. I’ll be the one to say I absolutely LOVE braids but I HATE getting them professionally done for so many reasons. The main one being when my scalp gets too dirty the braids gotta go. That is a problem when braids cost 100 and I’m over them in a month 🗿. This pushed me to doing my own braids minus the braiding hair. Every two-three weeks I take my braids out, condition my dry dirty hair, wash the conditioner out, wash my hair, deep condition, and prep my hair for braids. Sometimes I blow dry my hair before I braid it (because I want the length😗) and sometimes I just braid my coily hair as is. This has helped keep my hair healthy and grow it all quarantine. These are the products I’ve used: AFRiCAN PRIDE - Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Leave-in Conditioner AFRiCAN PRIDE - Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Growth Oil DOO GRO - Mega Thick Hair Oil ECOCO - Eco Style Argan Oil Gel ECOCO - Eco Style Professional Styling Gel Black Castor & Flaxseed Oil cantu - Argan Oil Leave-In Conditioning Repair aussie - Miracle Moist 3 Minute Miracle with Avocado for Dry Hair Repair Maui MOISTURE - Heal & Hydrate + Shea Butter Hair Mask Aunt Jackie's - Don't Shrink Elongating Curling Gel
Curly Girl Method! I've tried these so you don't need to try again!
I've tried several hair products for curly hair, and these are my favorite! Shampoos SheaMoisture - Argan Oil and Almond Milk Shampoo It smells like milk. I love that and the way this made my hair feel. Very smooth and non-greasy after washing. Conditioners SheaMoisture - Superfruit Complex 10 in 1 Renewal System Conditioner Some people don't like its scent, but I personally can accept it. The moisturizing effect is perfect. TRESemmé - Botanique Nourish + Replenish With Coconut Milk & Aloe Vera Conditioner It's affordable and it's so large that you can use it for a long time. Apply it and wait 5-8 minutes, then your hair will be like seaweed. Kinky-Curly - Knot Today, Natural Leave In / Detangler It smells like coconut. I use it as a moisturizer. I have now purchased 3 bottles of this. My hair cannot get enough. It is pricey, but so worth it. It is the best leave in conditioner I have ever tried. The best part about it is it's sans silicones sulfates or waxes. If you're looking for a great detangler that doesn't leave your hair greasy, this is the one for you. Leave-in conditioners SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner It is a little greasy. I brush my hair with this leave in in during the shower and it keeps my hair silky and curls not frizzy Hair masks SheaMoisture - Jamaican Black Castor Oil Strengthen & Restore Masque I use it once every two weeks, staying for 15-20 minutes before washing off. After using it, it helps hydrate my hair. It’s very light and doesn’t dry with any residue! It leaves my curls feeling light weight! Curl defining gels DevaCurl - Light Defining Gel Soft Hold No-Crunch Styler I have medium length curly hair and I use about a quarter size for the initial scrunch from ends to root. I touch up around the entire head with another quarter size. Let dry and scrunch to release the cast from the gel. My hair and curls are so happy with this product. It is the holy grail for sure. SheaMoisture - Coconut & Hibiscus Curl Enhancing Smoothie I use it to apply a little bit to the hair before setting. It makes your hair look a little oily.
The temptation is real sometimes!
If I were to tell myself 3 years ago that I would put down the flat iron, I would’ve looked at you like you were crazy. And here we are almost 2 years of being natural and it’s done wonders for the health of my hair 💪🏽
A twist on classic Dutch braids 🌀🌀
Dutch braids used to be my go-to braided hairstyle when my hair was longer, but I recently cut it too short to be able to pull it off! So I thought I would show my favorite hairstyle on my sister. She has very curly hair, so to show that off I thought we would mix things up and leave out the bottom half! The first step is to divide your hair down the middle all the way to the back, and section off one half with a hair tie to keep it out of your way. Then, start Dutch braiding (pieces go OVER the center strand instead of under) in the very front corner of your hair near the part. Then, braid directly backward, grabbing more and more hair as you go. Once you get to the nape of your neck, tie it off with a hair tie. Make sure that it is tight! Then, repeat on the other side! Once we had finished both sides, my sister wanted to refresh her curls to enhance the look. She did this by wetting the hair with a spray bottle of water, and then reapplying her hair products. She recently switched to Shea Moisture from DevaCul, and has been loving these three products for enhancing her curls. She diffused the ends a bit and voila! I love this twist on a classic braided look.

✨ Thick Hairstyles - Second Day Hair ✨
I have thick hair that easily gets frizzy, especially second day hair (or third, or fourth, depends how long I don’t wash it for lol). I typically only wash my hair every 2-4 days (depending on the type of activity I do that day, like exercise or go get groceries or just work on schoolwork). To allow my hair to last longer, I’ll usually use these hairstyles and products so that I can deal with the frizz. I love doing half-up hairstyles anytime I wash my hair, but especially when my hair starts to get frizzy! I hate when my hair gets all over my face. I usually do either a simple ponytail that’s holds the top half of my hair. I also like doing a ponytail with a braid, but that can be a little more difficult because you can’t see the back of your head as well or make sure the braid is straight and doesn’t start going to the side lol. After I finish the braid, I kind of tug/pull it apart so that it looks thicker. Another options is to just throw it into a messy bun on the back of your head! I like to use a spray leave-in conditioner to help nourish my hair and hairspray to lock them. This hairstyle also looks really cute with a headband to keep flyaways out of your face. . dpHUE - Apple Cider Vinegar Leave-in Hair Therapy Key Ingredients: Apple Cider Vinegar (restores healthy pH to smooth the hair surface and seal the cuticle, quickly absorbs into hair to provide weightless conditioning), Argan Oil, Macademia Oil, Dandelion Extract and Aloe Vera (moisturize, condition, and add shine without weighing hair down). Scent: Apple Cider Vinegar Consistency/Texture: Lightweight Spray Price: $30 for 6.5 oz / 192 mL Experience: This has a very strong scent, but it does dissipate quickly. I haven’t noticed much in terms of conditioning or frizz control, but it’s a decent product. It has a minimal amount, but I don’t think I’d purchase the full size unless it was on sale. It doesn’t weigh down my hair or make it look greasy, which was why I gave it 3 stars. Other than that, it doesn’t deliver much and the scent is not something I enjoy. It’s an average leave-in product, I’ll use it up but probably wouldn’t recommend or repurchase it (unless it’s half off or more). . REDKEN - Triple Take 32 Extreme High-Hold Hairspray Scent: Strong hairspray smell Consistency/Texture: Can leave behind a crunchy feel on the hair Price: $12 for 4 oz / 115 g OR $24 for 9 oz / 255 g Experience: It says it gives root lift and volume, but I haven’t used it for that purpose. I usually just use it to set a hairstyle into place and it works great for that! It can leave behind a stiff and crunchy feeling in the hair if you use too much, but it gives a great hold. I can use this in the morning and expect my hairstyle to last the whole day and not droop or get any flyaways or frizz. The nozzle is nice and gives a fine mist that is easy to control. It doesn’t leave my hair dry or make it knotty when I try to brush it out.

my <prep my hair to air dry> routine
Okayyy, I’ll admit it! 🤷🏼♀️ I’m TERRIBLE at round brushing my hair 🤪 Yesss even the hair stylist struggles to blow dry her hair! My solution is to wash at night and let it air dry! Luckily I have a texture that allows me to do so. 🙏🏻 I have coarse hair but it’s pretty flat and heavy because it’s so straight! I pretend like I have texture but it’s probably just bed head! But once I get out of the shower I love to spray my favorite detangler from JOICO! ⭐️ don’t forget to shake it before using! 👉🏻LUSTER LOCK MULTI PREFECTOR SPRAY 👈🏻 This came out a few years ago and took the hair world by STORM! It’s won tons of awards like the stylist choice award 2017! I love to use this product on myself and every client in my chair! You cannot over use the product which I love! I also use it as a cutting lotion to make my haircuts easier and faster! It’s light enough to use on any hair type and will even detangle the worst of nots! ❤️ It has UV and heat protectants, just in case I end up putting some heat on my hair the next day to tame that bed head! ☀️☀️☀️ BEFORE I brush my hair out, I use JOICO DREAM BLOWOUT! PLEASE tell me you have tried this!!! It’s the PERFECT blow dry cream! Not too heavy, but not too light! It has a full range of UV protection and guaranteed 450° protection! (If you are turning your flat iron or other hot tools up to 450° comment below because we NEED TO TALK! 😂) This yummy smelling cream helps with the frizz as my hair air dries! Yes it is meant to be used as a BLOW DRY CREAM but it’s so wonderful, I still use it to air dry! It’s got great hold either way! 🥰 🌟 BONUS 🌟 If you live in a HUMID place, this is your new bff! It will have long lasting effects of anti frizz due to the humidity! The next day after my hair was completely air dried, I took my medium sized curling iron and curled the front and some random pieces in the back! &&&& DONE! ✅ This style will last me anywhere from 2-5 days depending on what I’m doing or if I throw a hat on! 😉 #cheriecreator #haircare #joiful JOICO - Dream Blowout Thermal Protection Creme JOICO - K-PAK Color Therapy Luster Lock Spray Olivia Garden - Medium to Thick Detangler
