HELP! Huge Pores and Cystic Acne
Hello all! These are the first pictures of my skincare journey. I amjust starting out with actually building a routine, working with what’s tagged in the last pic (My skin is a little red, today was clay mask day 😝) Summer weather wrecks havoc on my oily combo skin. The pores on my cheeks are HUGE, especially on the less acne prone side (first pic). I get a lot of hormonal cystic acne on my cheeks and chin. I take Spironolactone and BC but they don’t help much anymore ☹️. If you have any recommendations or pointers, they would be greatly appreciated!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Here are the few products that currently are working for me: Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream Fav moisturizer, just bought the SPF version to try! Queen Helene - Mint Julep Masque My fav mask for acne and redness. Aveeno - Clear Complexion Sheer Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 This version leaves my skin oily. However, the non-SPF version is fantastic, and is a fav for winter. AZTEC SECRET - Indian Healing Clay Improves pore size and acne, can be a tad drying.

The Best Advice For Choosing Skincare Products
Hey Beauty’s 🙋🏽♀️ So I’ve recommended a lot of products and thought I’d share some advice on how how I select skincare products these days. ☺️ Thanks to @babesandbeauty on Instagram for the advice. Products that you consistently use I noticed that I consistently use TruSkin - Vitamin C Serum which has Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid and Vitamin E as my day Serum. I also have The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 for my night routine. I’ve started using Truskin’s Super Serum at night and now alternate between using a natural Retinol or Vitamin A Moisturiser and the Truskin Super Serum which has Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Niacinamide, and Retinol. I now can’t live without my FORMULA 10.0.6 - Rise of the Foam Blemish Busting Cleanser I use this because of the salicylic acid and hemp oil as part of my double cleansing routine. I’m currently trialing products for my first cleanse. 😄 I noticed the ingredients are ideal for my issues which are rough texture, larger than average pores, dullness and my wrinkles and fine lines. For reducing the appearance of my fine lines and wrinkles I ❤️ hyaluronic acid!!!! Products that are ideal for your skin type I’m a little lucky in the fact that I have combination skin and can use a range of products for my issues. Treating the wrong skin type can lead to irritated skin, breakouts and premature aging. Choosing the correct skin care routine for your skin type is essential for making your skin appear youthful and healthy. Products that do not cause irritation to your skin barrier Our skin is the largest barrier against infection that we have. Keeping our skin healthy and moist helps keep this barrier strong. Using the proper skin care products for your skin type can help preserve this important protective layer. ☺️ Products that fit your budget and life The Ordinary creators have totally changed how we think about and buy skin care. Its allowed us to understand ingredients and offered them in ridiculously cheap formulas. It’s championed transparency in an industry that wants you to think expensive products are better. Nothing costs more than $20. In fact, the majority of it ranges at less than $10. This is largely in part thanks to The Ordinary's dedication to transparency, resulting in prices that aren't significantly marked up. Although if you can afford to spend $150 I’d recommend purchasing a Serum rather than a cleanser or moisturiser. Drop me a line about what you consider when you purchase skincare products. Is it the beautiful packaging, ingredient list or that you just saw a review and want to try it. ☺️ Have a wonderful day or evening Jade 🥂
When hydration is needed 💦
I am a dry skinned girl so I am always on the look out for hydrators and moisturizers. This is especially the case as I like to use actives in my routine and they can further dry out my skin. Hyaluronic acid is one of my go to ingredients as it draws moisture into my skin and it works well with other ingredients. The ordinary offers this serum which is great as it is super affordable and it works well with my skin. What is it: This is a hyaluronic acid serum with 3 different weighted molecules so that it can penetrate and hydrate different layers if the skin. Hyaluronic acids is a humectant meaning it absorbs moisture from the air and draws it into the skin. This serum also has b5 which helps nourish and soften the skin. Texture: This is a goopy and cloudy serum that is easily absorbed into my dry skin. Price: This sells at Sephora for $6.80 cad for 1 oz or $12.20 cad for 2oz How I use this: I use this along with my steamer to make sure that the air is moisture rich in order to draw moisture to my skin. This ensures I get the best result. Pros 👍: affordable 2 sizes available accessible effective cruelty free 🐰 Cons 👎: some people don’t like the texture you shouldn’t over use hyaluronic acid (check other products) The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 this is a super simple serum that has really helped my dry skin

Why does my skin react different night vs day?
Over the years I have gone through hundreds of products figuring out what works for me. I have finally found a good set of products that I love, but sometimes when I use certain products in the daytime (such as Bio-Oil - Multiuse Skincare Oil and certain facemasks, I breakout so much worse than I do when I use the same exact product at night! I am confused by this so I have been wondering if it’s related to my oil levels throughout the day or what? Should I be using more drying products in the day time and hydrating at night? The only ones that really work for me day and night are The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% and THE BODY SHOP - Jumbo Tea Tree Oil although I know Hyram has said oils are not for the face
getting off makeup and clear skin with rosacea!
okay... so I know I've posted this before, and Cherie is (devastatingly) closing down, but I thought I'd share one last post. This really works. one is a prescription and there are a couple items missing, so I'll add them to the pictures. Here is the order they say to put on skincare (as depicted) 1) makeup remover/wash (I use Queen Helene cold cream that I SWEAR by, sometimes BURT’S BEES - BURT‘S BEES Sensitive Facial Cleanser ) 2) Facewash/second face wash (I use DERMA•E - Sensitive Skin Cleanser and Joeseph anti Acne soap 10% sulfur) 3) Toner (I use THAYERS - Rose Petal Facial Toner ) 4) Serums (I use a few... my prescription Amzeeq, mostly The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% , and DERMA•E - Blue Light Shield Concentrated Serum ) 5) Spot Treatments (Murad - Invisiscar Resurfacing Treatment , tea tree oil when needed) 6) Eye Cream (not pictured - DERMA•E - Firming DMAE Eye Lift Cream ) 7) Moisturizer (2 different kinds depending on how dry I am- pictured: Alba Botanica Aloe Green tea moisturizer, not pictured: skinfix - Barrier+ Triple Lipid-Peptide Cream ) 8) Retinol: Now, because I have rosacea, I use a retinol alternative. The best one for sensitive skin I found is The Ordinary - Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion use at night only) 9) Face Oil: HEAR ME OUT: If you have oily skin, it's not the WORST thing to use an oil. As a matter of fact, it may work well. BEST ONE BY FAR IS ROSEHIP OIL. I can't tell you how amazing it is The Ordinary - 100% Organic Cold Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil , and JOSIE MARAN - Pure Argan Milk Intensive Hydrating Treatment during the day) wear sunscreen during the day, and put it in place of retinol. I use Glossier. - Invisible Shield Daily Sunscreen it's a great light moisturizer, too. And at night in the winter if it's super dry, I'll put petroleum jelly around the corners of my eyes and lips. The results don't lie, Cherie babes (: comment below I'd you know of a better eye cream.
End of week 5
End of week 4 vs end of week 5. Overall my skin is improving slowly. Morning routine Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash The Ordinary - Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% Aveeno - Daily Moisturizing Lotion With Sunscreen Nightly routine Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash Tretinoin .10%
I struggle with acne since I was very young. The only thing that worked for me was la roche-posay rosaliac serum for local redness, sukin's pink clay masque and neutrogena's oil-free acne wash. You can't go wrong with it. LA ROCHE-POSAY - Rosaliac AR Intense sukin - Pink Clay Facial Masque Sensitive 100ml Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash

So I haven’t been on here in a little while because I’ve been trying to take a break on taking photos of my face and looking at skincare social media because it’s really compromised my mental health and I’m a lot less stressed about it when I’m not constantly focused on it if that makes sense :) Anyways WHOLE NEW ROUTINE last time I checked in I had mentioned I switched to differin, I’m not too sure if that helped me, I did purge a lot. But skin has healed so much faster since stopping differin I finally got to visit the derm and she told me to go back on tretinoin 0.025% to use every night, and she also prescribed me with the clindamycin topical solution 1% to use once every morning. She also advised me to go back on birth control. At first I was not fond of that because birth control AKA I.U.D HELL brought this acne upon me in the first place. But she recommended it to get my hormones back in check, but she also stated she wasn’t comfortable prescribing me spirlactone (which is what I was aiming for) without using BC even though I stated to her I am not sexually active currently and I don’t plan to be for a very long time. Anyways, I made an appointment with my obgyn and got on birth control pills, if you are curious to which one it’s called “Drospirenone” I haven’t started them yet because she told me to wait until the first Sunday during my period. But I have been consistently using the tret and the clindamycin every day for only a week and a half so far and I’ve already seen a lot of improvement. I don’t want to get too excited because I this is what happened the first time with tret, it was great the first week or two and then my skin started to purge. I’ve now been through the purging process 3 times. And it’s gonna be torture to go through it again but if it happens then it happens 🙏 Super nervous to start the birth control for the same reason but I can only be positive and hope for the best! My full routine currently is AM VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser clindamycin topical solution 1% (derm prescribed) LA ROCHE-POSAY - Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer UV SPF 30 *im switching to a higher spf PM VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Gel-Cream (the extra dry unscented version) OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream(derm prescribed) And sometimes I like to put another thin layer of moisturizer on top once the tret is absorbed to prevent irritation and dryness
Winter Skincare Routine for Sensitive Skin ❄️
Hey everyone! Figuring out a skincare routine that works for me and my skin has been quite a journey, especially in the colder winter months, so I wanted to share it with you! Just as a quick background, my skin is VERY sensitive and is combination, leaning toward the dry side in the winter. I can also be acne prone, but that is typically only when I am using products that don’t work well with my skin. AM Routine ☀️: VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser I have been LOVING this cleanser! I bought it a few months ago to replace my old favorite CeraVe Foaming Facial cleanser, because I figured out that my skin just can’t handle Niacinamide. This new cleanser has been great for my sensitive skin and cleans really well without being overly stripping! PAULA'S CHOICE - Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliator I have used this product for about a year now, and can say nothing but wonderful things! It has been a miracle product for me and has really smoothed out my skin texture. I use this exfoliant five times per week, highly recommend. The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% I used to use a Benzoyl Peroxide treatment for this step to treat acne, but I couldn’t deal with my clothes getting bleached anymore. I opted for this product instead and have been very pleased with the results: clear, bright skin! CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin This moisturizer works SO well with my skin! I’ve been using it for years, and it has always provided the perfect amount of moisture and is never irritating! VERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream I started using this eye cream a few months ago, and have really liked it so far! It provides a great amount of moisture! KINSHIP - Self Reflect Probiotic Moisturzing Sunscreen Zinc Oxide SPF 32 I just started using this spf after the whole Purito fiasco! So far, I love it! It has not caused me to break out, and it has not irritated my sensitive skin. It is also moisturizing and leaves a nice glowy skin finish. PM Routine 🌙: VANICREAM - Gentle Facial Cleanser OBAGI - Tretinoin 0.025% Cream I received a prescription from my dermatologist for a Tretinoin Cream, and I love it SO much! The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10% CeraVe - Daily Moisturizing Lotion For Normal To Dry Skin VERSED - ZERO-G Smoothing Eye Cream #Rodan and Fields - Lash Boost[products]#[FourStars] This lash serum has made a noticeable change in my lashes. A bit irritating, but the results are worth it to me! CeraVe - Healing Ointment AMAZING moisturizing product to slather on at night, nothing but good things to say! I started using this product this fall. My skin has never felt more hydrated when I wake up in the morning! #sluglife
My PM routine for acne breakouts 💖
I have combination skin and like to switch up my routine based on my skin’s needs. Recently, i have been breaking out around my forehead and nose. I thought I would share tonight’s routine! I began by washing my face in the shower with CeraVe - Hydrating Facial Cleanser I love using this cleanser when I don’t have makeup to wash off and I plan on using retinols or other harsh treatments later on in my routine. This cleanser is so gentle on my skin! After showering and washing my face, I applied DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel to my forehead and nose as these tend to be my problem areas for breakouts. I followed up with The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% on my cheeks. Finally, I used CeraVe - PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion I love this moisturizer and use it every night as it fits in with any routine because it is so hydrating but not too goopy or oily like many other nightly moisturizers sit in my skin. I tend to use a retinoids about every three nights as I have found with trial and error this timing works best for me. Oh nights I don’t use a retinoid, I will focus on other skin concerns or keep it simple with just cleansing and moisturizing. I tend not to use high percentage niacinamide serums in the same routine as a retinoid but if I do I use them to target separate areas of my skin. I had read a probably about a year ago not to mix niacinmide with retinoids. However, I’ve been seeing the past couple months that they make a great pair. Anyone have any thoughts on using niacinamide with adapalene or other retinoids? I just feel like I keep seeing conflicting information in my own research. I am already always hesitant with using multiple treatment steps in my routine and try to keep each routine relatively minimal.

Help! Literally burnt my skin with the acids!
I’m about to start using (should be here Thursday) Dr Dennis Gross - Alpha Beta Ultra Gentle Daily Peel Other people on here recommended that the rest of my routine should be gentle and to use CeraVe - Renewing SA Cleanser For Normal Skin CeraVe - AM Facial Moisturizing Lotion SPF 30(to make sure I was protecting my skin from new dark spots) And then at night I’ll use the cleanser again CeraVe - Skin Renewing Vitamin C Serum CeraVe - Skin Renewing Night Cream How do I get my skin used to all the acids? If I’m being honest the first night I literally burnt my skin next to my right eye 😩 it hurt so bad and I woke up with peeling and a huge red spot. Luckily it didn’t burn the rest of my face but it did hurt. Last night I gave my skin a break and used my Cetaphil - Gentle Skin Cleanser Can anyone also recommend an eye cream and lip serum to add to my routine? Any other recommendations to add to my routine are appreciated as we can tell I’m totally new to this, burning my skin and all. 😬🤷🏻♀️ Also I’m struggling with hormonal acne!

products and suggestions with differin
hi!! i have super oily skin which gets oily about 2 hours after cleansing and it’s like a pool of oil on my face in the morning. haha i know, it sounds gross. i just started using DIFFERIN - DIFFERIN Acne Treatment Gel again which i had used last year but didn’t see any results, which was probably because of my poor diet, so i decided to try it again! for a cleanser in the morning i use the everyday cleanser from suzanne organics (something i just had laying around and i thought i should use it up) and The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%and after that i use Neutrogena - Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel Moisturizer. at night i cleanse with CeraVe - Hydrating Face Cleanser For Normal To Dry Skinand moisturize with the same one from the morning routine and then i apply the differin. i have tried many many products and have tried to stick with them for a while but i haven’t seen much difference, for a little while it works but then my skin goes back to how it is now. also any product i use for oily skin doesn’t seem to work either that well. help!!

My Skincare Story
Hi! I’m rein, i’m new and this is my skincare story! As a young kid, i’ve always been obsessed with skincare. My skin was always the ‘demonstration’ skin for all the people around me of what their skin should look like. I have a normal combination skin type and usually i would be invincible to any type of acne but that changed over quarantine. I’ve been stressed, overheating, and probably not on the best diet at home so a few days ago, i decided to pick up a routine. This is my current routine: CeraVe - Foaming Facial Cleanser For Normal To Oily Skin Neutrogena - Hydro Boost Water Gel Cleanser e.l.f. - Holy Hydration! Face Cream Clean&Clear - Persa-Gel 10 Acne Medication Spot Treatment N°7 - Beautiful Skin Day Cream for Normal/Oily Skin and i might just be impatient but my acne has has halfway-to-almost disappeared. Although, i have an area (my bottom right cheek to my bottom right chin) where there are bumps. A lot of small bumps, like goosebumps that never go away. Also, i’m trying oil cleansing today and this app has brought me to this one specific project that i think might better my life. The product: The Ordinary - Lactic Acid 10% + HA I need advice, opinions, and a bit of knowledge 😌
N°7-Beautiful Skin Day Cream for Normal/Oily Skin
First time trying the cerave SA smoothing cream!
So I’ve been dealing with hormonal breakouts on my chin (and recently my forehead) for a long time now and I heard that cerave skincare was really good for most skin types! I think I have combination skin, my cheeks are pretty normal but my forehead and chin can get oily throughout the day (I only break out on my chin and forehead), I also get pretty dry after washing my face. I’m very new to skincare, I still only wash my face with water and previously used the aveeno moisturiser, which worked for me for a while but hasn’t been doing anything for me for the past few months.Aveeno - Skin Relief Moisturising Cream I just bought the cerave SA smoothing cream for dry, rough and bumpy skin, I’ve only used it twice (last night and this morning). CeraVe - SA Moisturizing Cream For Rough & Bumpy Skin I’m hoping this cream will work to help reduce the breakouts I have and hopefully prevent further ones. So far, I haven’t noticed anything groundbreaking but I will say that my skin feels very hydrated and my T-zone doesn’t feel as oily as it did before. I still really want to try a cerave cleanser (currently sold out everywhere which sucks) - I just have no idea which one to choose for my skin! I’m contemplating the CeraVe - SA Smoothing Cleanserso that it goes with the moisturiser but I’m not sure if this will be too harsh and if I should stick with the hydrating cleanser. I also really want to try The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%as I’ve heard really great things about this. I’ll keep updating and hopefully see some results soon!
The Ordinary-Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Hi everyone! I’ve been trying to work on my skin for the last year but I haven’t seen many results. I’ll share my current routine and I would love any advice you have to offer. Thank you!! In the morning I just wash my face with water and at night I use the Simple - Kind to Skin Moisturizing Facial Wash. I’ve used the Cerave SA cleanser in the past but it dried out and irritated my skin to the point where it was painful, which is why I switched to this one. I use The Ordinary - Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%morning and night right after rinsing my face. I use The Ordinary - Azelaic Acid Suspension 10%at night, right after the niacinamide. I use theCetaphil - Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotionmorning and night. I use the The Ordinary - 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalaneat night for added moisture I use theAveeno - Sensitive Skin Mineral Sunscreen SPF 50in the mornings- but it leaves a white cast so if anyone has any POC-friendly mineral sunscreen recs send them my way 🥺 I use The Ordinary - AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solutiononce a week for five minutes- I used to use it every 5 days for ten minutes but I heard that can worsen hyperpigmentation for POC so I cut back. I own The Ordinary Lactic Acid in 5% but I haven’t used it yet since I’m waiting to see whether or not I feel the Azelaic Acid is helping. This is my current routine- I am open to any and all advice as I am desperate at this point.
