Derm's sug: Lobster No More, How to Heal Your Sunburn
Derm's sug: Lobster No More, How to Heal Your Sunburn
Sunburned skin comes from too much exposure to damaging ultraviolet light (UV) from the sun.  Sunburns will cause Your skin to turn red and swell and sometimes blisters will form.  Your skin will be sore, burning or painful to touch.  As the sunburn fades, your skin will peel and become itchy.   The skin contains melanin, a pigment which helps absorb and protect us from UV light.  It is what causes us to become tan.  However, when you get too much UV light and melanin is overloaded, you get a sunburn.  The fairer your skin, the less melanin you have, and the less time it takes to get a sunburn.   There is no proven way to reverse the damage the sunburn has done to your skin and DNA.  Continuous damage to your DNA from the sun will cause skin cancers to form, many of which are deadly.    Here are some ways you can help ease the symptoms of the sunburn.  1.     Cool compresses or short cool showers can help.  Pat dry, do not rub. 2.     Use a good hypo-allergenic moisturizer several times a day to keep the skin hydrated.  I like Cetaphil Cream. 3.     Avoid ointment based products with petrolatum, like Vaseline Petroleum Jelly or Aquaphor Ointment, since they can trap the heat in your skin.  4.     Hydrocortisone cream 1% can be applied for a few days to help with redness and itching.  Avoid long term use as it can thin your skin. 5.     Aloe vera  and menthol products are very soothing as well.  6.     It is also important to stay well hydrated and drink plenty of water. 7.     NSAIDS, like ibuprofen, can help relieve discomfort when taken as directed.  8.     Avoid more sun exposure. 9.     See a doctor if you have symptoms of fever, chills, nausea/vomiting, dizziness, confusion or dehydration.   Here are some tips to avoid getting sunburned: 1.      Avoid peak hours of the day 10am-4pm. 2.     Seek shade. 3.     Use broad spectrum sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection SPF 50+.  Apply it 30 minutes before sun exposure.  Reapply every hour you are outside. One ounce will cover your entire body (that is the size of a shot glass).  I love La Roche Posay Anthelios 60 Melt In Sunscreen Milk SPF 60. 4.     Wear protective clothing with UPF 50+.  I love Coolibar and Solumbra products. 5.     Use a wide brim hat the help protect your face. 6.     Sunglasses with UVA and UVB protection will help protect your eyes.  Sun exposure can cause cataracts. 7.     Chapstick with broad spectrum sunscreen SPF 50+ will protect your lips.  Make sure you reapply every hour. 8.     Stay protected even on cloudy, rainy and cold days.

🚨NEW RELEASE: Rare Beauty + ND Glam Palette 💞
🚨NEW RELEASE: Rare Beauty + ND Glam Palette 💞
Hey beautiful! I got my mini Sephora haul this weekend and tested out some new make up releases. I got some products from Selena Gomez’ rare beauty and the new Natasha Denona glam palette! Not going to lie, when Sephora announces Selena Gomez’ new make up line I rolled my eyes. Another celebrity makeup release. I thought it was just another cash grab, but when I found out that some proceeds will go towards mental health, I was intrigued. I am a huge advocate of mental health so I bit the bullet and purchased it along with the glam palette. This is my first Natasha Denona palette actually. I’ve been wanting the gold palette and the biba palette, but didn’t think that the $129 price tag is worth it. I wasn’t too intrigued with the bronze palette so I purchased this as my first one! Starting off with the Rare Beauty products, I am impressed with the foundation and concealer. Both are light weight and easily melted in to my skin and I didn’t spend much time blending. I was impressed with the finish as well. It is natural and a radiant finish. It truly is a “your skin but better” foundation. It looks like skin and doesn’t look like I’m wearing any face makeup. I am impressed with the shade range too. I usually have trouble matching foundations, but the Sephora skin shade match online really knocked it out of the park. The liquid blush is beautiful and really gives that glow from within look. I got the shade “joy”. This really packs a punch so a little goes a long way. I have medium to tan skin tone and this shade is LOUD. I had to spent extra time blending it out otherwise I look like I broke out and had a rash reaction 🥴 I might have to return this and trade it for another shade. If you have lighter skin tone than me BEWARE. Rare Beauty - Soft Pinch Liquid Blush The lip soufflé is a beautiful and comfortable on my lips. I’m not a huge fan of liquid lip products because my lips are on the drier side, but this doesn’t crack and feels so soft. I’m also in love with this shade. I got the “courage” shade. However, I don’t think it’s worth $20 because NYX has a similar product so I wouldn’t repurchase Rare Beauty - Lip Souffle Matte Cream Lipstick Natasha Denona eyeshadows feels luxurious. I didn’t spend much time blending because it pretty much blended itself. I can see why ND eyeshadows are on the pricy side. I also don’t own too many cool toned shades so I’m glad I got this palette. It’s subtle enough for everyday wear so I can see myself picking this up on the daily NATASHA DENONA - Glam Eyeshadow Palette Overall, I think Rare’s foundation and concealer are worth it. They are a little bit cheaper compared to other higher end foundations. However, I’m iffy about the lip and the cheek products. I love ND’s glam palette and can see myself using it often. Francesca 💋

A love letter to Okehenriksen
A love letter to Okehenriksen
My Curology & cleaning up the ingredient lists of my skincare projects & adjusting my diet have gotten rid of almost all my active breakouts, but me & my derm still haven’t found the perfect formula to get rid of alllllll the acne scars and PIH. Enter OLE HENRIKSEN - Banana Bright Vitamin C Serum 📍My skin: Combination usually leaning more on the dry side but oily T-zone esp in the summer 📍Texture: Thick but also not? I did 2 texture pics so you could really see- not watery at all but absorbs quick & beautifully 📍Fragrance: fruity/orangey - this ones a big deal to me bc I feel like every other vit C smells so bad 📍Claims: “A powerful age-defying serum—with 15% vitamin C, 5% PHAs and hyaluronic acid—for brighter, bouncier skin” 📍Main Ingredients: vitamin C (2nd on the list!), PHAs, hyaluronic acid, banana powder pigments & vitamin E 📍Dollas: $65 for 1oz ✅ My experience: This price hurts my heart a little, but this lasted me 1.5 months with nightly use & I saw results with my pores after about 2 weeks and noticed lessening of my hyperpigmentation in about 3 weeks. This absolutely brightening my skin & evened it out. I did notice a bit of purging the first week I implemented this, but it cleared up quickly & was nothing compared to a retinoid purge. I’ll always have freckles, but my acne scars have significantly faded and I never thought that would happen. This was the first vitamin C serum I could stick with because I love it that much. No pilling, soaks into skin quicker, isn’t sticky/tacky and provided immediate hydration and glow. I still have some work to do and am planning to stick with this & will update if my skin continues to improve 🥰 #cheriecreator

Creating Your Skin Care Routine
Creating Your Skin Care Routine
Okay all you PYTs, this one's for you. You're young, you're beautiful, and you haven't thought much about taking care of your skin in the long run. That's okay, but it's time to adult now. I'm about to drop some knowledge on you. According to the American Academy of Dermatology (the AAD) here's how you can start your skin care journey: 1) Pay attention to your skin type and give your skin what it needs. If you have sensitive skin, use products formulated for sensitive skin, if you have dry skin use moisturizing products, and if you have oils skin use oil free or noncomedogenic products. 2) PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION. This is the most important part so Imma say it again 💁🏼‍♀️ PROTECT YOUR SKIN FROM ULTRAVIOLET RADIATION. Ultra violet radiation from the sun (or God forbid, a tanning bed) can lead to early skin aging and CANCER. To protect yourself, seek shade whenever possible, wear protective clothing, and use a broad spectrum, water resistant sunscreen of an SPF of 30 or higher. THAT MEANS NO MORE TANNING ❌ That awesome tan you got from laying out all summer? Yeah, that's damaged skin. Without sun protection, UVA rays are able to penetrate the middle layer of skin (the dermis) and damage collagen fibers resulting in a build up of elastin which then contributes to wrinkles and leathery skin. But more on sun damage in a later post. Sun damage is not a joke 📢 take it from a redhead‼️ 3) Use a retinoid if possible. Retinoids have been dubbed "the gold standard of anti-aging" for a reason, y'all! Retinoids increase the rate of cellular turnover to exfoliate clogged pores and reduce the appearance of fine lines, essentially treating acne and wrinkles simultaneously 👏👏👏 It's recommended to start simple, meaning wash your face with a gentle cleanser in the morning and at night, use a moisturizer with SPF during the day (don't forget to reapply) and a retinoid at night. If you don't experience irritation with the retinoid, don't deviate from this routine for at least 2 months. That's a ball park of how long you will need to get comfortable with the retinoid. This routine is a great starting (or starting over) point because it allows you to get to know your skin and see what you'd like to address after the retinoid has taken effect. My personal advice is to find a retinoid that you love and build the rest of your skin care routine around it. Pictured is my favorite retinol cream Neutrogena - Rapid Wrinkle Regenerating Face Cream The brand Neutrogena is owned by Johnson&Johnson, which has over 20 years of research and development of retinol and over 20 retinol patents. This particular product was the subject of a clinical trial which resulted in ongoing improvement of wrinkles, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation in patients throughout 1 year of nightly use. Unfortunately, I will have to revisit this AMAZING product in another post because of Cherie's character limit 😢 Stay tuned! And happy skincare hunting! ❤️

3 WAYS TO STYLE AN OVERSIZED CLAW CLIP✨
3 WAYS TO STYLE AN OVERSIZED CLAW CLIP✨
I used to always wear large claw clips when I was younger and have been loving them again recently. This clip, #Sunci - Large claw clip[products]#[FiveStars] , I got from Target and it was the last one so they can be hard to find. However, they are relatively cheap in price as I only payed $3 for this one. It is not all brown. It has specks of gold and silver throughout the clip which compliments my hair tone nicely. I love the oversized clips because my hair is long and thick so it does a good job of securing my locks for an all-day stay. Here is how I have been styling this clip recently: 1. Half up/down: to create this style I left out some pieces in the front of my hair. I pulled back half of my hair and spun it into a “U” shape with the ends of my hair facing down. This created a little bun at the top of the clip. This look is super casual and can also be recreated with all of your hair in the clip.  2. Classic: when I see these clips this is the look I imagine. This is how I used to style my hair in elementary school and this is the look most people associate the clip with. Now that my hair is longer, more of it falls out of the top but I think it looks cute. It almost looks as if I got a haircut and have a short ponytail. If you have long hair like mine this is an easy way to switch up your look. To create I left out some front pieces of my hair. I swirled the hair into a low pony and clipped it up allowing the ends to overflow from the top. 3. All Up- This look works well if you want all of your hair out of your face. I took the hair into a mid pony and did the opposite of my second look. It is my least favorite out of the 3 but I like how it looks very professional from the front.  These clips are good to use if you are trying to avoid hair products/styling tools on your hair. They require minimal effort and can be used on your natural hair, not requiring additional styling.  Did/do you; used to wear these clips, always have, want to try, or not interested in the trend?💭⬇️ Song: Heaven Falls/Fall on Me by Surfaces #CheriePartner

Tips For Flawless Matte Foundation on Dry Skin!
Tips For Flawless Matte Foundation on Dry Skin!
BAM! OMG. YOU GUYS. This has been THE BEST makeup I have done on my face and it actually feels good to have on! I don’t feel cakey and I look good in EVERY 👏 TYPE 👏 OF 👏 LIGHT! The first photo is of my skin up close and personal. The second is how it looks far away! Here are some tips to get a comfortable matte finish on dry skin! I usually don’t fully go crazy over products but THESE ARE BOMB. 1. Get a setting powder that’s hydrating and use a BEAUTY BLENDER to blend the product in. Let’s be real. I hate baking and always thought a brush would be better at applying powder. A brush is good, but a dry beauty blender is the S**T! When I switched over to this technique after watching Wayne Goss’s video on flawless foundation, my contour and blush were game changing. They didn’t disappear after 30 minutes from the time of application and it set my foundation to a wearable finish. The key is to not slap on a ton of setting powder and to use what you got before dipping in for more product(thanks Wayne!). Even though my other products were powder, nothing built up! Woot! I used BECCA - Hydra-Mist Set & Refresh Powder 2. Concealer first, then foundation! I got into the habit of putting on concealer first before my foundation. I used a full coverage creamy concealer and blended it out to later set with setting spray before adding my foundation. This way, my concealer does the bulk of the work in covering my blemishes and my foundation works on providing even skin tone to the rest of my face. The setting spray allows the concealer to not move around once it’s time to put on foundation. By blending your foundation into your concealer, it allows you to have that second-skin finish without harsh lines. As usual, I went with #Cle de peau beaute - Broad Spectrum Concealer[products]#[FiveStars] in shade Almond And this is my favorite foundation that’s an EXACT MATCH for my skin!! I got shade 102 #IPSA - Retexturizing Foundation[products]#[FiveStars] 3. Take your time blending! This is also a tip from Wayne Goss. Most of us spend about 2-3 minutes blending. I personally spend 3-5 minutes blending foundation into the skin and ensure I use every last drop of foundation from my sponge onto my face before going in for more. This way, you won’t put too much on the face, which would then cause creasing/caking. Also if you focus majority of the foundation on “thicker” areas of the skin (I.e jawline)and blending it upwards towards “thinner” areas of the skin(I.e eyes), you’ll less likely feel like your skin look flat and one dimensional. Happy Blending! ❤️

Like it’s 1996 🦋✨👄
Like it’s 1996 🦋✨👄
Nothing screams 90s makeup to me like frosted shadow and roller ball lip gloss ✨ Now I was only a bebe during the 90s being born in ‘93, but I do have memories of my younger aunts, that would often babysit for my mom and her lewks 🙌 one of them was more into grungey makeup, think brown lips, matte skin and thin but natural brows and my younger aunt was def more into glossy lips and pastel hued shimmery shadows. I spent all morning looking at old Delia*s catalogs and came across this catalog from 1996 and there it was, what I consider the epitome of 90s girly makeup! A soft lilac frosty shadow, barely there peachy blush and glossy lips 😌 I gathered inspiration from it to create the look you see here, using the products I’ve listed below: 🦋 DIOR - Forever Skin Glow Foundation & DIOR - Forever Skin Correct Concealer I decided to go in with both foundation and concealer, I usually only use concealer but I felt since 90s makeup wasn’t big on highlighter or even dewy skin was a thing like it is now, so it get right. 🦋 wet n wild - Mega Length Mascara fave mascara, you already know 🙌 🦋 Glossier. - Wowder Weightless Finishing Powder I’m trying to use up this powder, and I like it because it doesn’t leave me looking cakey. 🦋 essence - Satin Touch Blush essence makes some of my favorite blushes! These are a true satin finish that looks so pretty on the skin. 🦋 Glossier. - Lidstar Glistening Eye Glow Idk why, but I kinda remember having something similar to lidstar when I was young. I like that these are easy to slap on and go. And the subtle wash of color with the shimmer is so pretty to me. 🦋 .INC. - Roller Baby Lip Gloss now i very specifically remember my aunts using roller ball lip glosses throughout all of my childhood! These are so nostalgic to me, i remember them lending their precious cherry scented lip gloss to me when I was little and it was amazing 😌 ah non-traumatic childhood memories, we love those. And that’s that! What is a trend you remember from the 90s? Or that you wore during the 90s? 🍒 #CherieCreator #CheriePartner

✨ powder + spray for the perfect base
✨ powder + spray for the perfect base
I love my BB cream, but wearing it alone can start to look oily through the day. Plus, under eye foundation can start to crepe. Here’s the products I use to supplement it for a flawless base~ with a focus on my favorite powder & spray! 🌟 BASE 🌟 I’ve used the PHYSICIANS FORMULA - Super BB All-In-1 Beauty Balm Cream SPF 30for over a year. It’s a great BB that evens your skin tone, and looks natural. It’s also non-comedogenic, and has moisturizers like Shea butter. Only problem is it can look oily if I spend the day with no powder. 🌟 CONCEALER 🌟 I use the Too Faced - Born This Way Naturally Radiant Concealerwhich was sadly discontinued. :( But it’s not matte, nor too heavy for the under eyes. I’ve used the L'ORÉAL - True Match Super Blendable Concealer& bareMinerals - BARESKIN Complete Coverage Serum Concealer, which were both comparable. ⭐️ POWDER ⭐️ In LOVE with the Beauty Bakerie - Flour Setting Powder in Oat (Translucent). It comes in the CUTEST bakery bag packaging when you get it, and it’s a loose powder. It has never felt too cakey, heavy, or overly mattifying. It has a blurring effect on my face. In the 2nd photo, it also seemed to brighten up my skin. My skin is sensitive, but it’s never irritated it- its gentle enough to even set under eye concealer. Beauty Bakerie powders have a large shade range, so deep & olive toned peeps don’t have to worry about a white cast. I’ve bought it 2x with my own money by now. It’s vegan, silicone + paraben-free, and flashback free. After trying other powders, I think this is my holy grail. ⭐️ SPRAY ⭐️ Let’s say you DO actually put too much powder on. A setting spray that makes you glow can help. I really enjoy the COLOURPOP - Pretty Fresh Hydrating Setting Spray It’s affordable at $12, and comes with hyaluronic acid and 🥥 coconut water to moisturize your skin. It smells like fresh coconut with every spritz. With this spray over the powder, my skin looked glowing- but not overly oily. It also helps my eyeshadow melt into my skin, and just... brings the whole look together. Colourpop’s forte has always been eyeshadow imo, but I feel like they’re killing it in the base department now, too. I’ve used a lot of other base products before. I tried the Maybelline concealer, the L’Oreal True Match Foundation, the Urban Decay Naked skin powder and TonyMoly setting sprays. Some were too matte or broke me out, or just did nothing. I will def think of repurchasing these products when I run out (unless I want to try something new !) ✨ TLDR ✨ Use these products for natural looking, glowy (not oily) skin. Suitable for sensitive skin, and the powder has a large shade range.

VOLUMIZED, BOUNCY CURLS (90’s SUPERMODEL INSPIRE
VOLUMIZED, BOUNCY CURLS (90’s SUPERMODEL INSPIRE
I love the look of a blowout but I do not have the right technique to create one. The brush always ends up tangled in my hair and I get so frustrated. I created this look to fake a voluminous blowout (and it doesn’t involve the brush getting caught in your hair). This look was inspired by the 90’s supermodel era. It is part of a 2-post video and I will post the makeup look tomorrow. Products used - drybar - High Tops Self-Grip Rollers $10these rollers I originally bought to enhance an at home blowout but have been using them to create extra volume while curling my hair they come 5 in a pack with 3 large rollers and 3 smaller rollers. - $16 drybar - Hold Me Hair Clips These are optional to use to secure the rollers in place. The rollers on their own can hold there place but I haven’t fished out how to do that yet. These come in a 4 pack. - #Revlon - Curling wand 2 inch[products]#[ThreeStars] I love this curling iron because the large barrel creates big curls. The only thing is this curling wand tends to not hold a curl for long. - amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray This spray is similar to a hairspray but it it’s volumizing. A lot really goes a long way with this product. If you use too much, the hair can become crunchy. It can be used on wet or dry hair. - drybar - Triple Sec 3-in-1 Finishing Spray Lush Scent Living proof. - Full Dry Volume Blast These two products work very similar to each other. They both create noticeable difference in volume when applied correctly. (The drybar product makes your hair smell so good!) To do: - Sperate the top layer of the hair and section off the back. - Take a layer of the top section and spritz the section with amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray . Use the curling wand to heat up the hair to hold a curl better. With a large roller, roll up the section and secure with drybar - Hold Me Hair Clips . Using a clip to secure is optional as the rollers can stay in place on their own. - Put as many rollers as you feel necessary to create the added volume. I like to keep these rollers at the top sections of my hair. - With the back section of hair, Spritz each section with amika: - Brooklyn Bombshell Blowout Spray . Use the curling iron to create large curls. When releasing the curl, hold it in place for a bit then release. - Let the rollers sit for about 1+ hours. Take out the rollers. Lift up the hair and spray with drybar - Triple Sec 3-in-1 Finishing Spray Lush Scent and Living proof. - Full Dry Volume Blast to add lots of volume. Until I learn how to do a blowout on my hair I will be sticking to this method. #CherieCreator
